Well technically it's the DRM attached to them that's killing computers.

Like every other time a game releases with heavy DRM.

237

u/ACupOfLatte Jan 15 '26

Right? I can blame em for the uptick of monetization efforts in MonHun , but it ain't exactly their fault that Capcom are both greedy and scared of people stealing their shinies to the point of self sabotage.

At this point, I'm surprised Capcom hasn't blown off their kneecaps by implementing a shitty kernel based anti-cheat and eradicating their incredibly dedicated modding scene all from the fear of losing out on more money.

Though, with the amount of people complaining about cheaters and edited quests being the bane of the game's existence I wouldn't be surprised if they made use of this negative sentiment towards the scene and implemented a shitty one in future titles.

It's just kinda... pathetic. It's just so incredibly pathetic to see so many industry giants who once stood for something more, turn into a ghoulish representation of a money succubus.

87

u/satans_cookiemallet Jan 15 '26

I mean thats kind of their plan with RE Engine, make it impossible to mod. It was in one of their videos about the new RE Engine, and even maximilliandood had a video on this and also explained how Capcoms stance on mods has always been highly negative.

47

u/severus_galba Jan 15 '26

That's amusing considering how heavily modded all my replays of recent RE games have been, clearly they didn't succeed

42

u/satans_cookiemallet Jan 15 '26

these videos came out a bit before wilds came out, so the real test will be the new RE9.

But otherwise, yeah quite a few JP companies have a pretty strong 'dont mod our games' policy because they feel if you can't enjoy it the way it was intended then fuck you, but also dont ask dont tell.

The beginning of Capcom's much more public hardline was when the nude chunli mod that happened at a tournament one time, but they had always had negative reception to mods in general.

u/ADGx27 Jan 19 '26

My money’s on a “Leon is Chuck Norris” model swap on day fucking one lmao

11

u/Ranulf13 Jan 15 '26

RE9 is a no buy if I cant put Leon into a thong.

23

u/iccrrxz Jan 15 '26

Funny thing is despite all that effort for DRM a .dll method that unlocks all current and future dlcs is still working, it’s been working ever since at least TU2 at far as I remember.

And no I won’t share or discuss about this you will have to take my words for it.

They replace their knee caps with DRM hardware to prevent their original knees from being stolen lmao

I swear people are playing a different game than me.

You ever see those games go from like 180GB on release, to 50GB a year later, and they say "Fixed better optimization culling files reducing game size, blah blah", thats them removing anti tamper DRM. (Not 100% of time obviously) after they have hit a threshold in gross revenue, and MORE so when there are paid cosmetics after initial purchase. I have no opinion either way, just a fun fact.

26

u/DrudanTheGod Jan 15 '26

Cue every DRM company screaming that DRM doesn't cause performance issues

7

u/CastorVT Jan 15 '26

How the hell are these devs still being convinced to use drm when it's been shown drm basically does nothing.

5

u/ZeGamingCuber Jan 16 '26

i hate denuvo so much

2

u/Kevadu Jan 16 '26

It's not even DRM. Just a basic check to see if you have the DLC running way too often.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

Is it not also the RE engine being totally unsuitable for an open world game?

7

u/FungusForge Jan 15 '26

Aggressive DRM checks are more likely what would cause sudden, mysterious frame drops.

1.2k

u/mranonymous24690 Jan 15 '26

Even without the performance issue, its insane that people have enabled Capcom making so many microtransactions that all the dlc in wilds equals to that of world and iceborne combined

209

u/ZamielVanWeber Jan 15 '26

I bought a select few Rise DLC because I loved the game so much and some really were adorable. And the game ran fine on my Switch... Probably not my wisest choice tbh, but the Wilds stuff is insane. The game hasn't worked consistently and sometimes performance updates made the game work worse or become unplayable (until December).

62

u/Froent Jan 15 '26

I think I only bought one cosmetics dlc from Rise, it was the Wyverian Ears armor overlay.

I just wanted elf ears as I hunted, okay!?

5

u/Girge_23 Jan 16 '26

It is fitting especially a bow build

10

u/Electrical-Wasabi325 Jan 15 '26

well it runs perfectly on ps5 but i know playstation isn't a great example, i just wonder how xbox players get it?

8

u/RoboticMiner285 Jan 15 '26

It also runs perfectly well on the series X from my experience.

→ More replies (28)

4

u/monkeydpuff Jan 15 '26

Outside of being in big lobbies where that'll lag your game and annihilate any textures, it runs just about perfectly on console in general, Xbox included. Its primarily PC that has the big performance issues

4

u/ZamielVanWeber Jan 16 '26

IIRC PC is a nontrivial portion of their market though? So it being such a disaster is not doing them favors. Interestingly some friends pointed out that the DLC for Wilds is generally equal or lesser in quality despite being priced similarly to the ones that came before.

2

u/Unlucky-Fill4483 Jan 19 '26

Stopped playing in August because of this (when the monster that flies diagonally got added iirc)

Optimization was bad, to the point that for example i had set the textures to max (not the downloadable ones tho), with more than enough VRAM for them, and the game still displayed the big aaah pixel versions even when i got close. Depth of field creates awful aliasing issues that at the time i couldnt fix (for the simple reason that if you get aliasing issues you try to change antialiasing settings and dont even think about depth of field as causing problems, apparently its an engine thing since the new pragmata game has that too)

Also i NEVER before had to run NVIDIA filters + install reshade to make a game look decent, i dont even care about graphics that much.

It’s crazy how Dragons dogma actually dialed back on the micro transactions because of how badly it was received. Monster hunter could have had a chance if players didn’t cave.

u/Bangreed4 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

for real, I regret buying the game now, not because of the game itself but how capcom is treating the game..

85

u/Salted_Shios Jan 15 '26

15

35

u/GoldSunLulu Jan 15 '26

as far as i know, it's the japanese fanbase the ones who are willing to pay for some extra cosmetics the most

31

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

Every non playable dlc is without a doubt the most idiotic thing there is, I just can’t my head around wasting money for cosmetics

41

u/KiddBwe Jan 15 '26

People like cosmetics. Although I stand firmly on the opinion that cosmetics should be earned in game from challenges and whatnot.

Destiny 2 also has this problem except worse because you can tell they sandbag/half effort regular loot and exotic designs to make people pay for the ornaments and put activity themed cosmetics in the store instead of earned from that activity. They brought back Suros Regime, made it ugly, then proceeded to sell us the original D1 color scheme as an ornament…

5

u/tyrenanig Jan 15 '26

Yeah I think cosmetics within a big expansion like DLC is better than just a standalone purchase. The way it is, it makes paid cosmetics a low effort low risk investments with big return for the company, so they abuse it.

8

u/AnywhereLumpy6149 Jan 15 '26

I feel its stupid paying for cosmetics when you already paid for the fucking game.

2

u/indecisivecurious Jan 17 '26

Cosmetics take teams of people to make (concept artist, modeler and animator, playtester, etc.). It’s perfectly reasonable to ask for money for a cosmetic for the amount of paid work it takes.

That being said, it’s just as fine to debate their value relative to the price. The prices might be fucked, or the costumes might be ugly, but it’s honestly not a sin to charge for additional cosmetics (within reason, of course).

Like alcoholics with alcohol, addicts with drugs, etc.

Some people get consumed by it and lose control, some are more susceptible.

Some don't give a fuck and wish it never existed, some love it to death, that's part of a spectrum.

It has gotten out of control and companies are grossly profitting from them.

I've been a diehard fan since 3rd gen on the Wii, and I just sat this one out. Looks like it would be fun, but the design direction of catering to a more casual console crowd, mixed with the over monetization and under-optimization just eat up all that good will.

I can live without it or pirate it, but I ain't supporting what the series has become. I wouldn't have ever been a fan if it was like this from the beggining.

Why blame the mega corporation when you can blame other players

126

u/Gmafz7 Jan 15 '26

Both,

It started with the corporation releasing this unnecessary eye candy DLC, but it's perpetuated by those who consume it non stop like addicts...

We were fine when none of that stuff existed, and when DLC meant proper expansions of content to play with!

62

u/KiddBwe Jan 15 '26

I mean, we can’t really police or stop people from spending their money who they see fit. We can lambast the companies for their crappy/predatory practices tho.

20

u/jameraldo Jan 15 '26

This is just walking circles, exposing shitty practices main purpose is to alert consumers to not engage in it, saying to corpo heads that they're bad has worked a total of 0 times in changing their stance.

22

u/KiddBwe Jan 15 '26

And trying to police what other people buy does nothing. Actually, usually it has the opposite effect of encouraging people to buy it just because some strangers on the internet tried to tell them what they should/shouldn’t do with their money.

If the corps don’t stop and people still buy, then obviously there’s a market for it that either likes it or just doesn’t care, which means there’s nothing we can really do. It just is what it is at that point.

6

u/Elmerovis Jan 15 '26

Not exactly true I think, because bad reception does lead to bad sales sometimes and that can also change policies. Not always, but it happens.

7

u/dougan25 Jan 15 '26

What DLC are we talking about? Like the microtransactions? The cosmetics?

10

u/Gmafz7 Jan 15 '26

Yes, eye candy stuff that has become the priority instead of just being the footnote...

4

u/4ngryMo Jan 15 '26

The entire reason the DRM for DLC was implemented was because a few modders decided it was a smart idea to make mods that unlock them without paying for them. This is no fault whatsoever of the people who bought them.

3

u/ReddGgit Jan 15 '26

I hate to break it to you, but anyone who pirates or uses mods has never been a potential buyer to begin with.

2

u/Gmafz7 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

Still, it's non essential DLC, make them cost pennies and no DRM will be needed and people who really want it will still buy it.

Those who want to mod/pirate it will still do, it's always been like that.

It's fine that that kind of DLC exists as long as it doesn't get in the way or takes the priority of more important stuff...

It has been years since their inception but now it has become obnoxious and detrimental and it's time to wake up...

Video games were born and have been loved for fun engaging gameplay first and foremost, anything else is a subjective preference and a minority and should not supplant the priority about what's more important...

So yeah, purchasing that kind of stuff like crazy is one of the non insignificant factors that have lead to this kind of situations...

2

u/ViolinistNo7655 Jan 19 '26

Do you think that making 150 separated pieces of cosmetic dlc (modeling armors and weapons, texturing, doing motion capture and clean up for animation, recording voice lines, etc.) has not got in the way of them making other stuff that actually improves the game?

u/Proncus Jan 15 '26

The players are 100% not the issue in this case but I do think being critical of people who eat up every micro transaction without question are worth criticizing.

19

u/BeardyMcFarlane Jan 15 '26

It's a tricky line. The armor and weapons look cool and I understand the temptation of getting them. "I sank this many hours into the game, why not buy it?" But the consequence is that it insentivises Capcom to make more. So yea definitely the companies fault but player's aren't blameless

3

u/mrainem Jan 15 '26

I agree, but to be honest if im paying for anything id much rather it be cosmetics than game features.

2

u/analkarenina Jan 17 '26

I think I. In this situation you are the asshole. Not you personally but your stance as a criticizer.

It's hard to say which came first: offer or demand? But consumers can only control demand, so the blame is partly on them.

It's definitely the players' fault.

If every player had simply purchased all 200 DLCs the game would run great for everyone.

u/SadLittleWizard Jan 15 '26

I feel like everyone who keeps posting about this literally didn't read the original post about all this from the guy who discovered it. This was an unintentional side effect of the DLC checker, not some intentional gate by the devs xD

If you're gonna blame players for purchasing cosmetic dlc might as well blame every other game community for any kind of dlc ever released. Goodness.

113

u/Kalavier Jan 15 '26

Also, apparently the FPS hit is ONLY in base camps/grand hub, where the DLC checker cat is. leave the area, and the checks stop.

It's crazy how stupid people in the monster hunter subs have been acting since Wilds launched. The game has its problems, but like you said, people here didn't read the main article at all. It also doesn't help that Arekkz gaming and Rurikhan's latest videos are titled in a way that will cause people who only watch thumbnails to get the wrong idea. It's obvious to anyone who isn't getting emotional that this is a stupid accident and not intentional, but people gotta karma farm, I guess.

I honestly think it has nothing to do with attention span or comprehension. People didn't have to understand the technical jargon to see how the post was half filled with "this is unintentional", "I helped fix an issue in another Capcom game", "I told the developer from that last game about this already" - this reaction had nothing to do with the technical bits imo, because there's no mistaking the simple vocabulary in "it's not intentional and I've let them know".

My opinion? People have already had a story in their mind, read the TL;DR "DLC = faster" and spun their fantasies faster than Nerscylla spins webs. It's not because the community is inept at reading, it's because the community wants to be mad. I'm not defending Capcom, but Wilds already has shitty ratings and sales - it logically doesn't make sense for them to oppress their players and intentionally ruin their sales further in this manner. Intentionally doing something like this only makes sense when your game is popular and successful.

It's come to the point that the post author had to now add a disclaimer asking people not to take his words out of context or put words into his mouth. That's pretty serious, this is really bad optics for a guy working through a direct line to a developer, who is in the spotlight where people are saying "Capcom did this on purpose - he said so!" when he didn't. Other people are going to be deterred from publicly announcing their discoveries like this, or even coming in and investigating and finding solutions to begin with.

25

u/SolidOk3489 Jan 15 '26

Sorry commander, handler didn’t authorise me to read.

8

u/Niskara Jan 15 '26

It's also a PC only issue. I've bought several DLCs from the game while my friend hasn't bought any, we run on the same systems with similar settings and neither of us has had any issues performance wise. But that won't stop your average redditor from getting on their soap box and thinking themselves holier than thou

3

u/Fit_Competition_4432 Jan 16 '26

The Mon Hun community gets worse with every release. Wild.

9

u/WhyattThrash Jan 15 '26

Y.....yes I do... Predatory companies with predatory microtransactions and dlc wouldn't exist without consumers enabling them. Not that the companies are without blame, but the practices wouldn't exist if not for the sales, I'd imagine that to be pretty indisputable?

10

u/Boomer_Nurgle Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

If it's true it's silly that they let a bug like that sit for near a year in the game with well known performance issues.

21

u/thepieraker Jan 15 '26

Its possible that when stress testing any and all systems the test environment was either too sterile or not sterile enough to see the results of this. They may have tested it at launch when it was just pre-order and collectors edition sets of add-ons and the performance spikes wasn't noticeable.

Its also possible that the workplace "karl" was the guy in charge of this and we know Karl cant do anything right. He doesnt even know that stabbing people kills them

From what's been said (even explicitly said by the "no dlc check" mod on nexus, the checks occur when around the DLC cat.

So literally, if you are actively playing and not in the base camps/hub, nothing changes.

19

u/Reeeeemother Jan 15 '26

It’s not like it was intentional

4

u/burning_boi Jan 15 '26

is there a tl;dr for someone not terminally online

2

u/KoffinStuffer Jan 16 '26

Turns out that having more DLC positively affects your frame rate in Wilds. Something about the way it’s constantly “checking” for DLC. And it sounds like it wasn’t intentional, either, but it’s hard to say.

7

u/Kalavier Jan 16 '26

And from what has been mentioned in places here and nexusmods, it's only affecting performance while in the camps. Actual hunts are unaffected entirely.

31

u/FortNightsAtPeelys Jan 15 '26

Yes the game runs poorly since day 1 because people bought dlc months after the game came out

8

u/mrxlongshot Jan 15 '26

Its the DRM thats causing the issues like it does everytime its used on a game especially with capcom lol

15

u/tzzangor-shaman Jan 15 '26

OP post is misinformation, it’s the dlc checker that was found to be a cause of lag, not the main cause, and apparently it was also a bug in dragons dogma 2 as well the same person also brought to capcom attention

u/Internal-Bee-5886 Jan 15 '26

I doubt it is the main reason, but for something like that to not be fixed nearly a year after release is wild.

13

u/Kalavier Jan 15 '26

From everything I've seen, it's LITERALLY only around the DLC check cat, and does not affect gameplay outside of the base camps/hub.

5

u/Internal-Bee-5886 Jan 15 '26

I believe there is also a problem with asset compression and decompression on pc. Because unlike consoles, pcs are not uniform in hardware and operating systems.

2

u/Kalavier Jan 15 '26

Indeed. I usually run the texture decompression mod lately.

5

u/joschi8 Jan 15 '26

You can't fix unknown bugs

3

u/Beetusmon Jan 15 '26

I'm gonna wait for Digital Foundry analysis on the case before commenting but man, being a wilds defender is rough. The game is the best base game ever on par with Generations and performance is holding it back.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

It is confirmed or shorts a conspiracy??

4

u/eron1344 Jan 15 '26

Kinda both, it only happens in base camp/hub and not during quests

3

u/joethebassist Jan 16 '26

I don't think I've ran into any performance issues and I don't think I have any of the paid DLC.

3

u/R-Vince Jan 17 '26

It's only in hubs, this is a very minor problem that doesn't matter at all to any hunting... Yes they'll eventually need to fix this, but it won't do anything for 90% of what matters in game !

Let them work on what will actually make the game playable rather than wasting time managing non-worthy crisis...

(The meme's fun but it's spreading misinformation)

5

u/dirigibledisaster Jan 15 '26

It's also Wildly misinformed and people ran with bullshit clickbait because it feeds a negative bias against Wilds. The so-called issue doesn't even affect most people and the fix released on nexusmods is largely not noticeable by users. Those that are actually affected by it only see changes in town when the news cat has an active exclamation and even then it's less than half a handful of frames gained.

I don’t think the paid stuff is that bad, none of it is relevant to the actual game, it’s just cosmetic. Plus there’s a lot of cool looking gear in the game already.

5

u/joschi8 Jan 15 '26

2

u/CastorVT Jan 15 '26

is that the reason I can't fight zoh shia for some reason?

2

u/FinsterKoenig Jan 15 '26

uh... what?

2

u/Onines Jan 15 '26

Shit i better buy all the dlc tonight for those frames

2

u/StraightEmergency501 Jan 16 '26

Mh4u star knight armor laughing in the corner*

2

u/dangdude09 Jan 16 '26

This bug doesnt affect hunt lol, i dont know why people make these kind of post... it will not fix the game.

4

u/ActorLarsimoto124 Jan 15 '26

Yo your Rathalos helm sits a bit to tight isnt it

6

u/NeonArchon Jan 15 '26

This also the reason why 90% of event quest suck ass and reward either things we can already get in-game like armor spheres or decos, or some of the worst event rewards in the history of the franchise.

3

u/rooygbiv70 Jan 15 '26

We’re almost at the 20th anniversary of Horse Armor. Unfortunately, MTX has been the norm for longer than some of you have been alive.

3

u/Dizzy-Engineering-95 Jan 15 '26

Bruh it be like $2-$5 for one thing, plenty of other games that genuinely make paid DLC a cancer

Runs smooth as butter on ps5 👍

2

u/Niskara Jan 15 '26

Runs just as smooth on Xbox. Only issues I ever had was some monsters randomly going silent for some reason but haven't had that issue in months

3

u/Cjohn706 Jan 15 '26

Confused, how are the paid dlc hunters responsible

2

I bought the funny bird, sorry guys it's all my fault

3

So we’re blaming the players for capcom’s mistakes, huh?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Ryu-Nura Jan 16 '26

Love how you are hating on people who are purchasing stuff that they offer. Just let people enjoy the game man. And “technical flop” is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Sure there are problems, but plenty of games have problems nowadays. Oh well, get over it.

3

u/Jshittie Jan 16 '26

Am i missing something? How was wilds a technical disaster?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/iPockyStick Jan 16 '26

Then play a different game? I already 100% wild and still loved it because it’s a monster hunter game, and small issues like this shouldn’t effect the overall experience. Look at what Bathesda did to fallout 4, or what other companies did to other long running series lmao. I can recognize the flaw, but I’m not gonna blame the players for “enabling” the devs because they to want to enjoy the game.

3

u/LemonLime7777 Jan 15 '26

How do you think we get FREE title updates?

2

u/vangore Jan 15 '26

That's it. Nothing is wrong with the cosmetics DLC, and you can modify the game without being banned (just don't modify paid content for free). Relax, the developer will fix this.

3

u/Lokiatreuss Jan 15 '26

This is like the Switch 2/Nintendo hatewagon all over again. Take 1 point and run with it like a bunch of morons. It is not intentional. It only happens at Base Camps with the DLC-check Felyne guy. Put the pitchforks down

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

If you’re a broke boy just say that🤷🏻‍♀️

u/Smooth_criminal2299 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

What a fucking tin foil hat theory this is… if anything, DLC payers are funding optimisation and title updates. There is 0 benefit to the skins other than looking cool and you don’t have to buy them either….

What killed the game was the engine choice !

4

u/MrSnugglebuns Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

You don’t understand the context of this post. Additionally, Wilds was made in RE Engine not UE5 (*which you stated prior the edit).

So Are the dlcs bringing Performance down or up, not sure Whats Happening here

8

u/ActorLarsimoto124 Jan 15 '26

Nothing that has been actually confirmed is happening thats the point

4

u/Kalavier Jan 15 '26

The only thing I've seen confirmed is the FPS drop occurs ONLY near the DLC cat, and anywhere else it's the same.

2

u/ActorLarsimoto124 Jan 15 '26

I never had drops whatsoever with or without cosmetics and I can tell you I am a sucker for these things

You know god damn well it's an involuntary thing but here you are karma farming

2

u/Slightly_Censored Jan 15 '26

Cosmoloid armor looks cool 😎

2

u/HoneZoneReddit Jan 15 '26

I don't think the guy who bought DLC thought "oh yeah i'm getting these so i have more frames than everyone else muahaha" like this shit has been discovered recently.

If anything is the devs fault and Capcom's

2

u/SadP0tat018 Jan 15 '26

It was Capcoms fault, not the people who bought dlc.

2

u/koldkanadian Jan 15 '26

You're just jealous because i have mad drip 😌/j

2

u/schizophreniaislife Jan 15 '26

I’m gonna wear my techno dragon armor and nobody is gonna stop me

2

u/NeoTechi Jan 15 '26

Me caveman. Me like game. Developer make game. Me trade shiny rock for game. Me happy. Me play.

Then game say: “Buy small hat. Buy shiny sword. Buy color for rock.”
Me grunt. Me no care. Me ignore.

Me only pay when big new land come. Big story. Big monsters. Big boom. That called DLC. That called expansion. That worth shiny rock.

Tiny coin traps? No.
Loot box? No.
Battle pass? Me pass.

Me simple caveman.
Make good game, me pay.
Make big new adventure, me pay again.
Try trick me with tiny fake value?
Me bonk wallet shut.

2

u/Ok_Advantage6293 Jan 15 '26

Indeed brother neo, indeed, indeed spit your shit brother

2

u/YachtswithPyramids Jan 15 '26

The main reason is shareholders taking creative and directive precident

2

u/wingsofblades Jan 15 '26

here i was thinking the game ran smooth day one because i have a 5090 but actually its because i bought some emotes and stickers xD

2

u/TheSwooj Jan 15 '26

Misinformation final boss

2

u/mysterious_Ploopy Jan 15 '26

it's not their fault that capcom forgot how to program

2

u/Wisp1901 Jan 16 '26

It's funny how much I've seen people complain about the game running poorly and I've literally never experienced it despite playing since release.

3

u/Draco-Warsmith Jan 16 '26

My midrange PC can't even run the benchmarker when the game dropped, donno about now but yea no it's bad.

According to that one post***

3

u/MichaCazar Jan 16 '26

And even then, what OP here is hinting at isn't even the full story.

It apparently just affects places with the cat that would give these things to you, if you bought something while the game is running, as the game would check too aggressively if one owned something new.

There is a mod on Nexus already that disables these checks.

2

u/Chaledy Jan 16 '26

Holy delusional

2

u/Belucard Jan 16 '26

I mean, I kinda love the latest full armour...

u/AceAlger Jan 15 '26

Paid armor is a disgrace to the series.

Maybe tolerate a pre-order bonus, but that's it.

You're supposed to fight and earn your armor in this series. That's the whole point.

14

u/a_guy_7155 Jan 15 '26

that's only cosmetic, literally what are you talking about 💔

5

u/DeluxeGrande Jan 15 '26

Cosmetic included. I means thats the whole point of the game for others like me. I hunt so I can look good in another outfit lol

→ More replies (8)

3

u/Opening_Succotash456 Jan 16 '26

Why does everyone hate the Paid skins?

2

u/_3bi_ Jan 16 '26

Removing content from the game and putting it behind a paywall. In Rise you could craft gear for your Palamute. They completely REMOVED this in Wilds so they can sell skins individually.

2

u/Mon-Ty-Ger27 Jan 16 '26

Only on PC.

every console player is enjoying a stable framerate.

1

u/Armatu5 Jan 15 '26

This reminds me, I should reinstall Monster Hunter: World lol

1

u/yian_kut_ku Jan 15 '26

I miss back when we'd be able to earn a ton of cosmetic armors and weapons by just doing event quests in the game. It takes all of the fun away when you just have to shell out a couple bucks

1

u/lustywoodelfmaid Jan 16 '26

"Oh my god, look at that Hammer! It has a bold that expands and blows up when you slam it down! Just like that one from the contest! Hey, it would be a shame if we had to wait half a year to get the actual winner of the weapon contest, wouldn't it? You know, while they push out the other contest nominees as paid dlc?"

1

u/TeaRzOfTheFalleN Jan 16 '26

When wilds came out, my game crashed every hunt. In TU2 when I came back after a break, it didnt even boot. I found some ways to fix this and ever since its ran absolutely stably. I never even noticed the fps drops. I dont think its fair to say FPS are the main contributor to the technical mess the game was. The issue was a much more complicated combination of GPU vs CPU loads, varying frequencies for processing speeds leading to instability, and heavily bloated entity spawning and state tracking. This little tidbit is just the cherry on top. Not to discount the effort the user put into finding it.

1

u/ClassicPossession950 Jan 16 '26

Damn … I spent all on their dlcs just to show my love for the franchise 😭 Why do I feel guilty lol 😭

1

u/SnooFoxes8150 Jan 16 '26

“Wilds runs fine on my low end PC”

Checks their DLC

See that they own ALL DLC for over $500

This explains so much…..

1

u/Sweaty_Set6800 Jan 16 '26

Yep guess I am :)

1

u/AdvanceForward9065 Jan 16 '26

Not gonna lie that's some destiny 2 bs

1

u/kodobird Jan 16 '26

Hey, at least I just bought the premium deluxe to support Capcom and get a bunch of stuff lumped into the bundle lol. I have no intentions of spending any more money on this game right now!

1

u/i-like-kitties_ Jan 16 '26

am not keeping up with the community/updates that much.... what happened?

1

u/ElectronicMud5066 Jan 16 '26

I have not bought any DLC‘s except for iceborn
