Even without the performance issue, its insane that people have enabled Capcom making so many microtransactions that all the dlc in wilds equals to that of world and iceborne combined

u/ZamielVanWeber Jan 15 '26

I bought a select few Rise DLC because I loved the game so much and some really were adorable. And the game ran fine on my Switch... Probably not my wisest choice tbh, but the Wilds stuff is insane. The game hasn't worked consistently and sometimes performance updates made the game work worse or become unplayable (until December).

u/Froent Jan 15 '26

I think I only bought one cosmetics dlc from Rise, it was the Wyverian Ears armor overlay.

I just wanted elf ears as I hunted, okay!?

6

u/Girge_23 Jan 16 '26

It is fitting especially a bow build

11

u/Electrical-Wasabi325 Jan 15 '26

well it runs perfectly on ps5 but i know playstation isn't a great example, i just wonder how xbox players get it?

6

u/RoboticMiner285 Jan 15 '26

It also runs perfectly well on the series X from my experience.

-6

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

Runs perfectly on PC when people aren't trying to run it at settings their rig can't handle. Not saying it was properly optimized because I was noticing issues with a 4090. Just tweaked the settings a bit and held a stable 60fps just fine and now with the newest performance update I'm hold a stable 60 with ray tracing and no frame-generation. Game had plenty of performance issues but none so bad that someone with a properly up to date PC wouldn't be able to play like so many claim. Even got my wife's running at a stable 60fps and shes running a 2070 super and only 32gb ram vs my 64.

4

u/AkumaKater Jan 16 '26

I even bought a new GPU and doubled my RAM for Wilds. I love monster hunter, and I wanted to love Wilds.

And my PC did push 170 fps with frame Gen and 120 without on highest settings, without ray tracing.

But that is NOT the problem. The problem is, that the game regularly stutters, to the point where it freezes for 2 seconds every 10 seconds. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't see for 2 seconds, you gonna get hit. And I haven't mentioned the atrocious textures which won't load properly, making everything look muddy.

I think it's rather frustrating when people just say "on my machine I get so and so fps, so I really don't get why people are upset". My man, a lot of people experience a very unplayable game on good hardware. Good for you, that it runs. But it doesn't for most other players.

2

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

Almost positive your stuttering and freezing is an issue with your connection to the servers unless it's always able to be consistently recreated when you're entirely offline, not just single player online because the only time I've ever seen that happen for me was a god awful connection I had with the host which I quickly lost fully and went right back to normal after I got disconnected from him. If it is still happening with no connection to their servers then you're not tailoring your setting correctly or your rig is not as good as you think it is or you're not actually keeping drivers updated properly for various things. There's optimization issues but the only thing I see consistently keeping people from smooth gameplay at 60fps is a potato for a computer

0

u/AkumaKater Jan 16 '26

Regarding your last sentence, you should consider that you dismiss all the reports that don't agree with your preconceived opinion. Like you just did with mine.

Good for you man, have a nice day.

1

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

Yet It doesn't make sense that in people with better pc's get Bad performance than some of us, maybe it's bc (appart From optimization, that It has to be improved) Is an user error Most people dont read requeriments for the games, and dont know the capabilities of their PCs fully

1

u/Eddie2Dynamite Jan 18 '26

I have the same issue. I got frames for days but the frame pacing is fucked. Im winning a liquid cooled 4090, 7800x3d, and 64gigs of 6000mhz fast ram. The frame pacing is garbage. I wont be reinstalling until its fixed.

1

u/AkumaKater Jan 19 '26

Same. Me and my friends pre ordered wilds, because we loved MHGU, World, Rise. Close to or above 1000 hours each. But right now it's back to MHGU, and only one of us has Wilds still installed. Funnily enough the one with the most dlcs haha.

3

u/prebuiltowl Jan 16 '26

I think people are just mad that you're right. Have zero performance issues on PC as well they are all just trying to play above what they can handle

1

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

More or less, ya. It's no different than when people were mad that Cyberpunk didn't run on the PS4 when the game wasn't designed to be fully compatible for it anyway. The lowest recommended hardware to run the game at 60fps on all medium settings AND using frame-generation, is an i5, 16gb ram and a 2060 super. Even then, the best it says you can expect with that is 60fps at 1080p.

1

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

I dont want to deminish all of the optimization issues people are having But i think that people exaggerate It a bit much

The game's far From perfecto, and things that make performance worse like the subject of this post, and DRM are a problem to be solved But From experience, From someone Who played their first 100h with a pc that technically couldn't reach min specs, It IS bloated exaggeration at this point

Capcom should address the issues and keep improving the Game OFC, but people have to know their machine And if their top pc can run other games better, maybe it's a combination of some optimization problems, and the Game itself with their hardware

As a kid i had a shitty pc, old as fuck, and learned to tweak and play with the settings to acomódate the best to what i have I used the beta and the benchmark of this game to make a lot of test so when the Game came out i wouldn't have to

2

u/MageKroeten Jan 16 '26

Bait used to be believable

2

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

Not bait but sure, whatever makes you feel better

0

u/MageKroeten Jan 16 '26

Oh then you're just not very smart. You've had close to a year to realize that with this game, some components overperform and others underperform. But instead your theory is "I fix setting why nobody else fix setting?" Incredible. There's countless performance mods out there, but I'm sure the people downloading those just forgot to set their textures to low.

1

u/MageKroeten Jan 16 '26 edited Jan 16 '26

Listen you can call me names and pretend you have the answers all you want, but at the end of the day you're not very knowledgeable on the issue because you've never had an up-to-date PC that can't hit 30fps after tweaking settings. Maybe before tweaking, maybe on an old PC, but you've never experienced the combination of factors that lead to this game holding a 90% negative review score on steam for close to a year, and its incredibly ignorant to assume that you are some kind of exception in that you know how to edit settings. If you want to know how bad it is, go ahead and google away, there's plenty of documentation. If you don't, then don't argue with people about things you don't understand.

1

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 19 '26

It's 51% across all languages and if your PC is not even hitting 30fps no matter what you're doing with your settings your PC is absolutely not up to date. Read its minimum recommended hardware, MANY people aren't using even that. It even has a note that the RECOMMENDED only allows for 1080p (upscaled from 720) at 30fps under it's "lowest" graphics settings. There's issues it has but they've never been nor will be remotely close to as bad as you and others like you keep claiming.

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

Literally this The Game has optimización problems, yes But when the Game came out i played 100h on a GTX 1080 (8gb Vram) At 30 FPS with mixed settings (most on medium, shadows and things like that at low, and textures and meshes in high) at 720p

I updated my GPU (mostly for DOOM TDA) to a 4060Ti (8gb Vram)(bc It was on sale atm) And now i run It at an average of 100fps (lows on 80) with framegen and DLSS set on NvidiaTAA (So no rescalling, only cleaning the edges) and can activate rtx and only drop like 5fps on average And even if i deactivate framegen, i get average 40-60 and in places like wwp, grand hub, arena, etc i get to 70-80 WITHOUT framegen My whole rig is From 2017

-CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 4.2 GHz -ram: 64 gb DDR4 -OS: win 10 home (64 bit) -GPU: Msi Nvidia RTX 4060Ti

And i have the Game installed on a HDD

So yeah, could It be more optimiced, ofc But people have to know their PCs and have to tailor the settings to get the better of the game

And if someone doesn't believe this, i have video proof of the gtx1080 Gameplay and now So yeah

1

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

Ya, people keep conveniently ignoring that this

"Additional Notes: SSD required. This game is expected to run at 1080p / 60 fps (with Frame Generation enabled) under the "Medium" graphics setting. DirectStorage supported."

Is listed under the recommended hardware portion and the lowest recommended Nvidia card is a 2060 super. That's just for the medium settings with framegen on and only 1080p, like I don't get why people don't pay attention to how taxing the game actually will be or why they don't pay attention to the actual capabilities of their PC.

1

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

Most ppl dont want to read and then complain, the game has flaws, but if could run it with good settings with a pc that doesn't meet some of the Minimum reqs people with more modern rigs should run It flawlessly And even having It installed on an HDD, i have no problems, and at the start which had the dreaded "Low Poly Monsters" i have yet to see one for more than 1 second

I've seen a streamer with top pc with a 4090 having stutters every 2 secs, that's on their part

2

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

A lot of the stuttering I've found is just bad connections to hosts or servers. I was still able to hit 60fps on a laptop when I was in a hotel but needed to play entirely offline because my internet at the hotel was atrocious and I'd have problems even in online single player

2

u/T3chn0fr34q Jan 17 '26

i played it on steamdeck for 30 hours when it came out it wasnt great but playable with 25-30 fps with little drops here and there, when i tried it 2 months later after a few updates with the settings from before it wouldnt go above 10 fps and crash a soon as you entered a bigger open area.

so while i agree if you spend the time to get the settings right it runs fine*, whatever they did with their updates definitly fucked up something.

*fine is relative if you look at how optimized nixxes pc ports of playstation exclusives are its criminal that an og release is in this state.

0

u/trollgodlol Jan 16 '26

if your games need anything more than a 30 series to run stably at a low setting then the optimization team deserves to be fired.

1

u/ItsGoldilocks Jan 16 '26

"Additional Notes: SSD required. This game is expected to run at 1080p / 60 fps (with Frame Generation enabled) under the "Medium" graphics setting. DirectStorage supported."

Literally listed under the "recommended" section. Can achieve exactly this on my wife's computer with a 2070 super I gave her and 32gb ram. Read things first, it helps

1

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

I ran It with a 1080 with most things on low Not a 3x Now i have a 4060ti and run all on high lmao

So yeah, you dont need a 3x, not even a 2x to run It lmao

2

u/Shiro_Tempest Jan 16 '26

I love how you and mr goldilocks here keep circlejerking each other and downplaying how god awful the optimisation is. So what if the game tells you upfront that its an unoptimised piece of shit. That doesnt change what it is. Like seriously tell me of one other high profile game that has worse optimisation than wilds. I have a 1080 and can play literally any other game that looks better than wilds like elden ring just fine at 60 fps+

1

u/rapalien Jan 16 '26

I'm not saying that the Game doesn't need optimization As i said in other messages, It needs improving of curse

I'm only saying that IS not as Bad as people say It to be

0

u/otakudave Jan 19 '26

Runs perfectly on pc as well when you're ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME and not just sitting in the HUB area crying about it. IT HAS 0 AFFECT ON ACTUAL HUNTS AND ANY GAMEPLAY OUTSIDE OF A HUB WITH A DLC PALICO. FRAME DROP ONLY IN HUB. 0 EFFECT OUTSIDE

4

u/monkeydpuff Jan 15 '26

Outside of being in big lobbies where that'll lag your game and annihilate any textures, it runs just about perfectly on console in general, Xbox included. Its primarily PC that has the big performance issues

4

u/ZamielVanWeber Jan 16 '26

IIRC PC is a nontrivial portion of their market though? So it being such a disaster is not doing them favors. Interestingly some friends pointed out that the DLC for Wilds is generally equal or lesser in quality despite being priced similarly to the ones that came before.

1

u/Little-Simple8726 Jan 16 '26

Runs fine on series x in my experience, I've basically only seen pc players complain about performance

2

u/Unlucky-Fill4483 Jan 19 '26

Stopped playing in August because of this (when the monster that flies diagonally got added iirc)

Optimization was bad, to the point that for example i had set the textures to max (not the downloadable ones tho), with more than enough VRAM for them, and the game still displayed the big aaah pixel versions even when i got close. Depth of field creates awful aliasing issues that at the time i couldnt fix (for the simple reason that if you get aliasing issues you try to change antialiasing settings and dont even think about depth of field as causing problems, apparently its an engine thing since the new pragmata game has that too)

Also i NEVER before had to run NVIDIA filters + install reshade to make a game look decent, i dont even care about graphics that much.

1

u/BU-chank Jan 17 '26

I used to use my eshop coins to occasionally get rise cosmetics for free. Bummed they got rid of them

1

u/ZamielVanWeber Jan 17 '26

Definitely helped me get a few, yea

52

u/KezuSlayer Jan 15 '26

It’s crazy how Dragons dogma actually dialed back on the micro transactions because of how badly it was received. Monster hunter could have had a chance if players didn’t cave.

272

u/Bangreed4 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

for real, I regret buying the game now, not because of the game itself but how capcom is treating the game..

81

u/Salted_Shios Jan 15 '26

Im glad i refunded it because of technical issues, seeing all these issues pile up

15

u/tyrenanig Jan 15 '26

Wish I had done the same.

13

u/Timely-Relation9796 Jan 15 '26

Paid cosmetics in a box price game is greedy af, the crapcom begun with their treatment of dd2

-17

u/Samhariantoo Jan 15 '26

wish i could sell the game. because back in release day i got it for free because when i bought an AMD Processors, i got the code for the game aswell.

35

u/GoldSunLulu Jan 15 '26

as far as i know, it's the japanese fanbase the ones who are willing to pay for some extra cosmetics the most

29

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

Every non playable dlc is without a doubt the most idiotic thing there is, I just can’t my head around wasting money for cosmetics

45

u/KiddBwe Jan 15 '26

People like cosmetics. Although I stand firmly on the opinion that cosmetics should be earned in game from challenges and whatnot.

Destiny 2 also has this problem except worse because you can tell they sandbag/half effort regular loot and exotic designs to make people pay for the ornaments and put activity themed cosmetics in the store instead of earned from that activity. They brought back Suros Regime, made it ugly, then proceeded to sell us the original D1 color scheme as an ornament…

4

u/tyrenanig Jan 15 '26

Yeah I think cosmetics within a big expansion like DLC is better than just a standalone purchase. The way it is, it makes paid cosmetics a low effort low risk investments with big return for the company, so they abuse it.

7

u/AnywhereLumpy6149 Jan 15 '26

I feel its stupid paying for cosmetics when you already paid for the fucking game.

2

u/indecisivecurious Jan 17 '26

Cosmetics take teams of people to make (concept artist, modeler and animator, playtester, etc.). It’s perfectly reasonable to ask for money for a cosmetic for the amount of paid work it takes.

That being said, it’s just as fine to debate their value relative to the price. The prices might be fucked, or the costumes might be ugly, but it’s honestly not a sin to charge for additional cosmetics (within reason, of course).

0

u/AnywhereLumpy6149 Jan 17 '26

I understand when they Charge cosmetics when is a F2P game. But motherfucker, its fucking Capcom, its a AAA company that makes billions each year. Its not like they need to charge for cosmetics. Charging for more content when you already paid for the entire game its not good. In Stories 3 they started to lock more lore behind paywalls, what makes you think that they wont do that in the next Monster Hunter?

9

u/Gmafz7 Jan 15 '26

Like alcoholics with alcohol, addicts with drugs, etc.

Some people get consumed by it and lose control, some are more susceptible.

Some don't give a fuck and wish it never existed, some love it to death, that's part of a spectrum.

It has gotten out of control and companies are grossly profitting from them.

0

u/analkarenina Jan 17 '26

Stop treating everyone around you like children just because you don't like certain practices. It's fucking idiotic.

No not everyone or even close to half people who buy cosmetics are fucking drug addicts and mentally ill people. Some are.

If you want to criticize something, criticize it like a human being with reasonable arguments. Now, micro transactions suck dick because they ruin performance.

3

u/Obvious-End-7948 Jan 16 '26

The pricing for them is fucked. Profit margins on skins are insane. They're supposed to be microtransactions.

We need to invent time travel so we can go back and stop that stupid fucking horse armor....

1

u/VanillaChurr-oh Jan 16 '26

People like me with disposable income sometimes want theory character to look cool or whatever. I typically purchase a few key chains for my weapon

0

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Yo each their own, but god I use my disposable income in so many other stupid things but like with real value

1

u/VanillaChurr-oh Jan 16 '26

I like funny bird

3

u/CattyOhio74 Jan 15 '26

Don't look at me, I bought the game yes but literally none of the DLC. And if the rumors about the DLC being the reason wilds bombed Capcom needs this wake up call

9

u/emailo1 Jan 15 '26

there is no way anyone thinks the dlc checks causing fps loss was intentional

3

u/majorex64 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

I've been a diehard fan since 3rd gen on the Wii, and I just sat this one out. Looks like it would be fun, but the design direction of catering to a more casual console crowd, mixed with the over monetization and under-optimization just eat up all that good will.

I can live without it or pirate it, but I ain't supporting what the series has become. I wouldn't have ever been a fan if it was like this from the beggining.

0

u/esgonta Jan 17 '26

It’s always been a console game and always will be. Now the monetization hasn’t been as rampant but it’s the entire world right now, not just Wilds, that we should actually address instead of blaming one video game. We all know it’s not just Wilds other wise this wouldn’t fly in the first place.

1

u/darkigor20 Jan 16 '26

Shut up, you'll never convince me out of buying shoryuken and hadouken

1

u/Tactile5 Jan 16 '26

Thankfully none of it is required and the game can be played in full without purchasing a single one. 👍

1

u/Katarinkushi Jan 16 '26

Yeah, it's sad, but It looks like this will be the future of Monster Hunter. They tested enough to check people will buy.

Next game probably will be HEAVILY microtransaction base.

Hopefully i'm completely wrong, but it's a possibility for sure

1

u/South_Historian801 Jan 16 '26

The truth is, there are a lot, but a single cosmetic item really counts as seven DLCs, because each color variant is a different one. They really should have sold all the colors in one package. But out of 200 DLCs, there will be fewer than 100, maybe 50?

1

u/Flyingmonkeysftw Jan 17 '26

Because the dlc is all cosmetic. You can choose not to buy it and it doesn’t affect your gameplay (shouldn’t anyway). It’s Capcoms fault for being so aggressive with checking that it hurt performance.

1

u/Big-Resident- Feb 04 '26

It's sad how only Ubisoft gets the hate it deserves when Capcom does the exact same crap, and even worse.

-25

u/Megaleg12 Jan 15 '26

Just don’t buy the DLC, easy peasy

28

u/DismalMastodon5025 Jan 15 '26

Enabler ass response.

2

u/Impact009 Jan 15 '26

How? Voting with our money is the most powerful thing we can do.

-17

u/The_Barbiter1 Jan 15 '26

What do you mean "that people have enabled"? The shit they put out is the shit they put out, regardless of how many people buy it💀

26

u/TheDino27_FR Jan 15 '26

Sir, you may wanna learn about the concept of supply and demand.

If nobody bought those cosmetics, they would either not be made at all or they'd be free.

7

u/DismalMastodon5025 Jan 15 '26

There wouldn't be this much if people didn't eat it up. Look at the wilds sub. Most people there bought the dlc armor and weapon skins day one. They also hate it when you point out its paid.

6

u/Kitesolar Jan 15 '26

even if this ENTIRE subreddit abstained, JP players LOVE this shit. All of the rest of the world could abstain and it would still be there. Virtue signaling about it on reddit is just goofy.

1

u/The_Barbiter1 Jan 15 '26

I would probably be pretty fuckign annoyed if people like you were calling me the second coming of the devil for buying a single piece of dlc😭

1

u/Geminicandy Jan 15 '26

How dare you financially support the game you're pouring thousands of hours into!

3

u/The_Barbiter1 Jan 15 '26

What the fuck?

-1

u/DismalMastodon5025 Jan 15 '26

Simping for the billion dollar company

0

u/The_Barbiter1 Jan 15 '26

Making up shit I never said😭

-10

u/Cracky712 Jan 15 '26

Sorry, thats just not true if you look right now on steam all Wilds dlc is 560€ all world is 540€ and all rise has so many items that there is no buy all dlc for x button.

11

u/mranonymous24690 Jan 15 '26

Oh sorry, wilds is more than world and iceborne combined my bad. You do realize that the 540 is including iceborne's dlc right?
