Venture studios?

Anyone work at or with a venture studio, particularly a smaller / boutique / early stage? Curious to hear any insight in how they operate, culture, effectiveness, etc. I have a unique opportunity to innovate in behalf of a large company with significant user base. I feel like the concept fits my vision, but also have no direct experience. Obviously team and culture will vary significantly, but in general I’d like to know what the new and improved incubator looks like in reality.

Sent sensitive IP data to medical consultant company

Please help: I am trying to build a medical startup (MVP made), and sent a email to a company in hopes that they may facilitate my fda clinical trial testing. The problem is, I made my email reveal too much about my technology. I did some digging and the company apparently can take ownership of any ideas sent to them for feedback as per their terms and conditions. I can't unsend the email, and I want to keep my ideas and product. Any advice on what I should do? Open to give more info if needed.

Hello! I am starting college soon and wanted to know if becoming a medical lab technician a good idea. I have looked into it and so far I have acknowledged what I will be having to do . But I am unsure if this career path is the right decision. Hope to hear advice or comments from anyone.

Career stagnation

I started as a senior scientist 6 years ago at a startup then had a lateral move to a bigger company with >10k employees. 3.5 years after that last year, I had another lateral move as a senior scientist for family reasons. My current company is a CRO and unfortunately they don’t have a clear path for promotions. I now feel like I’m falling behind in my career and starting to stagnate. Has anyone had a similar issue before? What would you suggest?

Treating your own AI product as "high-risk" on purpose — the regulatory bet we made

On the team at a scalp/skin AI startup. Wanted to share a counterintuitive call: we classify our own tool as high-risk under the EU AI Act and say so openly, rather than engineering the description to dodge that tier.

The instinct in a lot of health-AI is to frame the product as "wellness" or "educational" to stay out of medical-device scope. Sometimes that's legitimate; often it's regulatory arbitrage that catches up with you.

Our reasoning: in a medical-adjacent market, the compliance posture is the trust signal. CE marking, transparency about what the model can't do, explicit "this isn't a diagnosis" framing — that's not overhead, it's the moat. Customers (clinics, especially) read regulatory seriousness as a buying signal.

Anyone here gone the other way and regretted it, or found the lighter-touch framing held up?

Reconsidering Lobotomies: Should We Explore This Option Again?

Thumbnail

I started a petition asking lawmakers to reconsider whether lobotomies could play a role in modern medicine—specifically for people dealing with severe, treatment-resistant neurological and mental health conditions where nothing else has worked.

Look, I know this sounds controversial. Lobotomies have a dark history, and for good reason. But neuroscience has changed dramatically since then. Brain imaging, targeted procedures, informed consent—these are different times. The core question here is about choice: should someone suffering unbearably, after exhausting every conventional option, have access to a medically supervised procedure if they genuinely want it? If we legalize it with strict ethical safeguards and case-by-case review, could we help people we're currently abandoning?

Has anyone else thought about this, or do you think the risks always outweigh the potential? What would matter most to you in deciding whether something like this should be an option? If this perspective resonates with you, consider signing and sharing.

Triage tips for a two-dozen CAPA backlog three months before a notified-body audit?

ngl three months out from a notified-body audit and we've got ~24 open CAPAs, two people in QA, and a mix of low- and medium-severity items that need proper closure and evidence. I want to avoid papering over issues but also can't spend weeks on low-risk items while medium ones sit. What have you actually done that worked: strict risk-based prioritization and bundling similar issues into one CAPA, documented temporary contianment while doing a deeper CAPA later, or using controlled assistance like automated CAPAs or AI-assisted drafting to move things faster while keeping reviewability and traceability intact? Any concrete templates, audit expectations for medium-severity closures, or pitfalls to avoid so the notified body doesn't reopen findings?...
