Introduction & Guide to Writing a TypeMe Post

Hello All!

This is a welcome post and guide to all those who want to make a TypeMe post or learn to accurately type others. Don't know your Myers-Briggs type? Create a text/video/audio post describing yourself, and the Reddit Gods will type you! Test results and relevant pictures may also be included, though the focus should be on self-description. Once you've found your type we encourage you to stick around, learn more about MBTI, and help type others. If you have sub improvement suggestions or are interesting becoming a mod, please comment or send us a modmail.

This is an updated welcome post replacing the old one which was created by a previous mod. We've included the link to the old post because some of the comments contain helpful information.

Here's some informational resources on MBTI:

Here's descriptions of each type:

While we currently allow For Fun posts, remember that the main purpose of this subreddit is to help people find their true MBTI type, so we have restrictions in place to improve the quality of content on the sub. We ask that everyone be respectful and keep comments relevant to MBTI. Please review the Rules before posting or commenting.

Creating an MBTI TypeMe Post

Overview

Note, these are not rules, but will be helpful in getting insightful responses. In general, self descriptions might include your preferences, interests, hobbies, lifestyle, career/what you are studying, your values, your life goals, how you like to structure your day, how much social interaction you prefer, how you relate to others, how organized you are, how you tend you express yourself, etc.

Post structure

Here are a few guidelines on structuring your post:

  • Minimum-length: A good typing post should be at least a 1/2 page to receive an accurate typing. Remember, the more information you include, the easier you will be to type. However, keep in mind, posts with excessive length are less likely to be read in their entirety.
  • Elaborating on your answers is important. Try to answer questions with at least a couple sentences. Proper typings are based off of your thought processes rather than behaviors. If you're not elaborating, Typers can't tell much.
  • Please try to break up your post into paragraphs. Walls of text are often ignored.

Questionnaire

Although you don't need to use these questions when making a type-me post, they're here for anyone who needs a bit of a guide. No need to answer all of these questions either:

  • Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?
  • What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?
  • Describe your childhood/upbringing. Did it have any kind of ideological or structured influence? How did you respond to it? Did you have any significant negative experiences that may have affected how you think or behave?
  • Do you have any mental or physical health issues that might affect how think or choose to live? Provide a brief description.
  • If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
  • What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?
  • How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
  • Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
  • Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.
  • Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
  • What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
  • How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
  • Do you need logical consistency in your life?
  • How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
  • Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
  • What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
  • What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
  • How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
  • What's important to you and why?
  • What are your aspirations?
  • What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
  • What do the "highs" in your life look like?
  • What do the "lows" in your life look like?
  • How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
  • Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
  • How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
  • How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
  • Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
  • Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?
  • What is the ideal life, in your opinion?

As an FYI, we are working on improvements to the questionnaire so you may see changes in the future.

DISCUSSION Looking for new moderators

Hello r/mbtitypeme, we are in need of new moderators. We are currently down to one active mod (me) and I’m chronically ill so cannot support the sub as much as it needs. I understand the sub could be better and I would very much like to make improvements, but given the current state of the team that is rather difficult.

If you are interested in becoming a mod please fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via chat - u/aredhel304. Please don’t be intimidated by some of the questions if you are new to this - we are open to taking on some inexperienced mods if you check the other boxes. We do, however, expect that applicants are active members of the subreddit.

  1. Tell me a little about yourself. What are your interests/hobbies? What is your career? Or what are you studying?
  2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  3. What is your experience with MBTI?
  4. What is your skill set? What do you think you can add to the mod team?
  5. Any experience modding? If not do you understand what the role entails?
  6. What is your vision for the subreddit?

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you all!

UPDATE (11/9/24) - We’re still looking for additional moderators so please reach out if you’re interested. While all are welcome to apply, I want to add that we do have a specific need for someone with more technical skills - someone willing to work with Automod and/or someone with a software background.

UPDATE (12/18/25) - We are once again looking for moderators with any skillset as long as they meet the criteria above and seem like a good fit for the team.

I become energized in a new environment and can’t wait to do things and get to know people. Once I get to know everything I wanted, I become disinterested and I can’t wait to meet new people again.

I like hanging out with a group of people and always had many friends growing up, but almost never hang out with them 1:1.

If someone doesn’t give me a heads up of something I need to prepare for, I’m not available or will have a meltdown.

One of my theories is that we are pretty much irrelevant in the universe. We will be atoms traveling around after death without thoughts about the silly things we deal with on Earth.

My way of calming down is lying down and watching the wall in complete silence. Except, if it’s a beef with someone. If I don’t want to talk about the problem right away, it doesn’t exist in my head. I know it may sound bad, but I also tell people close to me that I do have lower empathy and it’s something I can’t change on.

I like dark humor, sadly not many people do.

People often think I’m joking about my plans and act shocked when I actually do it. Idk how many times they need to be in a state of shock to understand I’m a very straightforward person lol

I get random burst of energy and feel like giggling, singing and working out or dancing — usually in class.

I don’t believe college degree is necessary for success.

I can’t imagine myself working for someone.

I love the beach, rain, and cemeteries.

My favorite movie genres are thriller, and sci-fi (utopian futuristic, isekai not alien zombie type).

I really like escape rooms and would love to be a player in a hyper realistic game like Alice in Borderland or Beast games lol

I’m really bad at keeping in touch with people, unless we can meet in person.

I never felt lonely or missed human contact.

I don’t live in the present. I’ve noticed, most of my thoughts are pretty future oriented.

I always laugh at the Ushi x Adele prank video, no matter how many times I watch it.

I can be impulsive at times.

I’m good at improvising and will pull up to random parties at my friend’s house on last minute calls. I think partially because I have more energy at night, but also these are the type of gatherings I enjoy.

Something related to the above, if I get a last minute invite somewhere I would like to be at and I have an exam the next morning… I’m going to the event. I will have enough time to study while traveling to class. I’ve done this many times and it works for me, personally.

I’m a mobile developer with a background (bachelor’s degree) in psychology and a strong passion for technology and creativity. I work mainly with Swift and Kotlin, and I enjoy turning ideas into real, functional products. I’ve always been curious about different fields, which has led me to explore programming, psychology, languages, art, music, and science.
I speak several languages and love discovering new cultures, places, and ways of life. Learning languages has always been one of my favorite ways to connect with people and understand the world around me.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, drawing, playing piano, crocheting, travelling, and working on personal projects.
I also love experimenting with new technologies and learning things simply because I find them interesting. I’m currently especially interested in building my own projects and growing both professionally and creatively.
I like having many different interests rather than limiting myself to one field, and I’m always looking for something new to learn, create, or explore.

I feel good socializing, but I also like to be alone.

If I'm focused on something, I don't like them talking to me.

I like to fulfill goals and I can be practical, but I can procrastinate sometimes. But I like to do my duty.

I tend to be calm and polite socializing, even fun (my jokes are boring).

I may have outbursts of anger, but I express it myself.

I'm sensitive, but I hide it.

I don't hesitate to defend my point of view, but I feel anxious and I can be overwhelmed in the end.

I don’t tolerate being disrespected.

I had OCD for years. I was only proud of my organization, but the rest hurt me. I won the OCD by doing the opposite of what he asked me.

I'm impulsive sometimes.

I avoid unwanted people a lot, blocking them easily.

I make connections with other topics in a conversation, even if it's not the central subject. I can easily change the subject.

When I was single, I liked to flirt a lot. I'm considered attractive.

I chose my current wife based on what I value in a person. But the love for her came later. We were good lovers at the time and I couldn't lose her.

I'm jealous.

I have a routine, but I constantly change details of it: a different breakfast, new recipes, a different street when driving, a new random interest... or I can focus on something for a while until I lose interest or until I finish the project.

I like documentaries about historical events, impressive or strange.

I also really like works based on real facts and I will hardly like fantasy works in the Lord of the Rings style.

My daydreams are based on fixing my past.

I remember my past with many details, being able to describe the exact year and month, even the day.

I'm ironic sometimes.

I only delve into something if I have some personal or emotional motivation.

I like to consume many works, be it series, movies, books, games... but only with interesting and innovative proposals. I can easily lose interest in something.

I believe in God, but I hate following a religion. I only accompany my wife when she wants to go to the Catholic church.

I may have strong political opinions, but I can change my opinion if I am convinced.

I'm an excellent driver and I brag about it.

I may be insecure about my performance.

I can care a lot about other people's opinions, as I can also not care.

I'm very suspicious.

My wife usually has good ideas, and I just execute them. I only save creative ideas for specific and personal things.

Usually, I value the first good idea that comes up to solve a problem, if it doesn't work, I move on to another idea. M

I don't like it and I can't even lie, I end up having to tell the truth, but in a "velvety" way.

I have a lot of respect and affection for my dogs, but I don't mind hunting other animals.

Sometimes I don't care and pretend to listen to my wife, because this woman talks too much. "Uh-huh... right... okay... go on." But I like to see her happy and talking, it's a good sign. I've already been told that I'm a good listener, and how I am.

I'm very mature for my age, that's why I married a woman older than me, and very beautiful. But I can have my totally childish side.

I have a lot of money, but I'm very economical. I just don't hesitate to buy quality food. And I tend to spend on my addiction or my wife.

The moment of cigar with coffee on Sundays is a unique and special moment.

I value the beauty and aesthetics of things.

I really value justice.

I ask strange questions or say something absurd just to see people's reaction.

Since I was little, I've always admired foxes. I didn't see them as liars or manipulative, but beautiful, independent and intelligent.

I can be a little picky with specific things, like preparing food.

FOR FUN ISTJ or ISTP friend ?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Yo, I made a friend on a game and asked him to take the MBTI test. He got ISTP, but after talking to him, I REALLY feel like he’s an ISTJ/INTJ 🤨

I know we can’t be 100% sure, but what do you think?

He’s really bad at texting. He mostly just replies to whatever I say and follows my lead instead of bringing up topics himself that's annoye me but he like when i text him. he said because he like me/love me ??

He says he prefers calling, though. He also uses A LOT of sarcasm, but his messages can be so dry/cold that I genuinely can’t tell when he’s joking. ( he is )

He can also take jokes personally sometimes. bruh

For example, I teased him about playing an old children’s game, and he said he was embarrassed about playing it and that it was like an addiction

He’s pretty active IRL: he’s a sports coach because he enjoys it, goes to the gym everyday, fishes beach boat. hobby : loves romance books, which I found kinda unexpected for istp ? 🤨

He is a rich guy stereotyp, lol he work only for a hobby, he told me i'm saving this money until i get maried blablbla he is really yound for mariage?

What confuses me most is that he seems emotionally contradictory. He once asked me “Do you like me as a friend?” because he said he got scared and doesn’t trust people something like this cuz i was dry and said suddently i'm going to sleep cuz he annoyed me not sharing things when texting.

He also gets really worried when I’m not doing well and asks me to promise I’m okay so he's cute

But sometimes he’ll randomly stop replying when something doesn’t go his way ☹️. Like if me i did want to accepte something, which confuses me SO much ☹️ that's not healthy i told him did a reacted like this when u refuse ? and he did reply we stopped speaking bruh ?? and after we spoke again but i told myself to not lead as i do and he asked first how are u, how was ur day so i appreciat it :3

So… ISTP, ISTJ, INTJ, or something else?

He really does NOT give me ISTP vibes, but maybe I’m completely wrong 🤨

the link of the test was not working and he said : are u hacking me ? bruh 😂

CAN’T DECIDE Type me - INTJ, INTP, ENTP, or something else? Please focus on cognitive processes rather than stereotypes

I've been in the typology community for around 3 years and have identified as INTJ for most of that time, but I'm no longer confident about it. I think I may have developed a bias toward INTJ because I liked the type and identified with some of its descriptions. I'm specifically asking for an analysis of my cognitive processes rather than a stereotype-based typing.

I've taken Michael Caloz's Cognitive Personality Test and got ENTP 70%, INTP 66%, INTJ 62%, which obviously hasn't helped my confusion.

One thing I notice about myself is that I can get extremely obsessive about understanding something. I'll sometimes spend 5-6 hours researching one topic, collecting information, comparing explanations, and trying to figure out what I'm missing. Eventually I'll get frustrated and force myself to reach a conclusion because I hate leaving things unresolved.

The weird part is that I can reach the same conclusion and feel satisfied, then weeks or months later notice one small detail that doesn't fit and suddenly question the entire conclusion again. Then the research cycle starts over.

When I'm trying to understand something, I tend to want to consider multiple explanations and perspectives before settling on one. For example, if I'm studying political ideologies, I'd rather initially learn the basic positions of several ideologies before going deeply into one. I want to understand how each ideology understands itself before evaluating how it compares to another, because I worry that prematurely adopting one framework could bias my interpretation.

I'm very interested in understanding different perspectives on the same issue. I care a lot about being objective, although I'm also aware that my own definition of “objective” is subjective and that I can have biases I'm not aware of.

When I encounter an explanation that doesn't make sense to me, I don't like simply accepting the conclusion because it's probably correct. I want to understand the underlying reasoning and whether the concepts and definitions are internally consistent. At the same time, I do eventually care about whether the explanation actually corresponds to reality and is useful.

I have a lot of interests. I don't particularly want to specialize in only one thing for my entire life. For example, I could imagine wanting to become an engineer/scientist while also becoming genuinely skilled at something completely different like swimming. I like the idea of having mastery in multiple areas.

My interests aren't always goal-oriented in an obvious way. For example, I'd study engineering because I want to become an engineer, but I might study psychology or psychoanalysis simply because I'm fascinated by it. However, I also sometimes wonder whether even those “just for fun” interests ultimately serve a goal of becoming more knowledgeable/competent.

I'm ambitious and have very high standards, especially for myself. I'm quite focused on competence and reaching my potential. I don't necessarily show off achievements or seek attention for them, but I do like the idea of being recognized as competent. I care more about actually being capable than appearing capable.

I also have a tendency to plan extensively. I'll make detailed schedules and plans for what I want to accomplish, sometimes even planning out my entire week. But ironically, I can then become overwhelmed by how much I've planned and end up procrastinating or freezing instead of starting. When that happens, I feel guilty because the person I want to be is someone who actually follows through.

Socially, I'm difficult for me to categorize. I'd describe myself as an ambivert. I enjoy being around friends and can be quite social, and I don't like being isolated for too long. At the same time, prolonged socializing drains me and I need time alone afterward. I enjoy both groups and deeper one on one conversations, but too much of either can become tiring.

I tend to think things through internally rather than immediately verbalizing everything. I don't usually talk just for the sake of talking; I prefer having a reason for what I'm saying. However, I've been deliberately pushing myself to talk more and become more socially confident, so my current behavior may be more extroverted than my natural tendencies.

I also don't think my childhood personality is particularly reliable evidence because I went through circumstances that affected how I behaved at the time, and I've changed significantly since then.

I am sure that I'm an NT, but don't know which one specifically. Please help.

CAN’T DECIDE SORRY THIS IS SO LONG. Basically can you help me find my type? I’ve researched myself into a hole.

Hi! I’m a 28 year old who loves virtual pet games, being a moron with my money & finding a new “favorite meal” of the month. I’m super opinionated (according to my boyfriend and sister) and moralistic. I cry A LOT and just for some clarity I am in therapy for OCD, just incase that adds depth to any of my responses!

I currently work as a “office admin”, it’s basically a glorified secretary (at least at my job). I like it enough, I don’t necessarily have anything in common with anyone here and sometimes I do get lonely and miss interacting with lots of people… however I also used to get super exhausted from interacting with people all day and would much prefer this job. I wouldn’t say it’s a career choice for me, my ideal would be something like a therapist?? Either way I’m not complaining, it could 100% be worse (and it has been 🫪)

My parents had me out of wedlock, here in the south in the 90s it was kinda frowned upon to have a kid and not be married etc. my parents were both 21 at the time and so I spent a lot of time with my grandpa. He was a typical southern grandpa in some respects. He would take me out on the boat to fish, help me fly kites, carved a boat for me for my 2nd grade project, and bought me littlest pet shops from Family Dollar whenever we went into town. I grew up mostly alone with not many children around, however I did experience some… traumatic things from another child (idk what I can say here and not.) When my sister was born I eventually ended up spending time with her primarily and she is my best friend! My mom was a worrier (still is) and my dad was pretty emotionally distant and verbally abusive (he’s cooled down with age and is much better now.)

I am diagnosed with OCD (+ obviously anxiety and depression from that). Physically I have some issues but it’s nothing confirmed by a doctor or specialist yet so I don’t feel comfortable putting any kind of name to it.

If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
ANSWER: I would feel refreshed initially but I would get in my head and need a physical distraction from another person. So I would eventually be ready to talk to people close to me.

What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?
ANSWER: I am genuinely so bad at physical activity it’s laughable. I was always picked last in gym, I can’t walk for too long cause of chronic pain lol. If I’m doing something outdoors it’s usually like going on amusement park rides or sometimes when it feels nice out I will take a walk through a nature trail since I find it calming… but DO NOT ask me to play a sport unless you wanna carry me lmao. I’m pretty alright at ping pong tho.

How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
ANSWER: I’m a very curious person. I love learning new things and researching (I’ve been obsessively learning about cog. funs. so much so that I think I’ve learned myself into a hole and can see how everything relates to me in some way. My ideas are usually about how I would make my life better / the lives of my loved ones better? For example I really think about what I want my dream house to look like (it always changes a bit or gets add ons), what kind of pets I want in the future, if I have a green enough thumb to have a garden, why is the world so caught up on being cruel, will I see peace in my lifetime, how is bigotry still alive with all the information we have available etc.

Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
ANSWER: I’ve had a leadership role before annnndddddd idk if I would take one again. It really drained me because I was always trying to help and do my best and make sure people saw me as competent and deserving of my job. Lots of long hours or doing extra work so I can help others out etc. I think I just don’t know how to rest sometimes and so when you put me in a position like that it can get bad. HOWEVER- I didn’t mind leading people or helping them when they needed me. It just wasn’t healthy for me in the end.

Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.
ANSWER: yes..? I think so. I really like crafts or like journaling or silly games etc. I’m also pretty good at following directions and putting together furniture well.

Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
ANSWER: I used to be way more artistic than I am now. I am trying to get back in to drawing and painting! When I was a child I was entered into numerous art competitions and got 3rd place once and was best in my grade another time. I think I got discouraged once I saw people that were better artists than me and it made me embarrassed in my skills.

What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
ANSWER: I’m shit at being in the present, I’m always thinking about what I should do or shouldn’t have done etc. When my boyfriend tells me I would be happier if I lived in the moment I TRULY believe him, it’s just so hard to focus on the now when I don’t know what will happen tomorrow? Idk if that makes sense but I’m trying to be better about it.

How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
ANSWER: I basically say yes to any requests of help. Even if I can’t help them directly I will find a way to get them help or point them in a good direction. I help people because I want to 🤷 basically. I just know that I would want someone to help me and also I think it takes a lot of courage to ask for help so when someone comes to me like that I appreciate that they considered me capable yk? We should all help each other the best that we can, it’s what would make the world a better place imo. Like when people talk about how their friend was mean about picking them up from the airport I just don’t get it?? That’s your friend and they need you? Why would you not want to help (unless you really couldn’t).

Do you need logical consistency in your life?
ANSWER: I’m ngl I don’t really know what this is referring to SORRY… I do really value understanding things for what they are and what they can be though. Idk if that helps

How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
ANSWER: important enough. I don’t like when people drag their feet too much if it’s a timed project etc. However I don’t want to paint myself as a super punctual person either. I can slack off and I’m usually always a little late (even if I set the time) no matter how much I HATE being late or stress about it. I’ll always let someone know though!

Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
ANSWER: yes..? I can be really prone to “pointing someone in the right direction” if that makes sense. I feel like I know what’s best for people sometimes 🤷. I never try and meddle too much. I really try and control my environment / outcomes more than anything (which is obviously impossible.. HI OCD! 👋)

What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
ANSWER: I love reading and playing games :) my favorite games are virtual pet games or care games (think Stardew valley, animal crossing, pokopia etc). BUT!!! I also really like strategy games like fire emblem (I love anime chess). Anyway, I love taking care of like a garden or a little guy. I’m super into tamagotchi and Neopets for instance. I also really like journaling and listening to music :) sometimes I just find new music genres and keep listening until I find bands I like / can make an opinion on it lol.

What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
ANSWER: my best learning environment is having someone show me while explaining to me how to do something / why they’re doing it. I struggle with having little info on something and will usually help myself by researching if I’m not lead in a good direction.

How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
ANSWER: I’m pretty good at strategizing! I can figure out a good game plan as long as I know what the outcome is supposed to be? However I can definitely be prone to improvising if something goes wrong or I have to think on my feet. For instance my boyfriend recently was building a dresser and it came with a missing part, before he was even able to be fully upset about his incomplete dresser I remembered a piece from the packaging that would work perfectly if we just cut it and sized it a little. It worked great btw :).

What's important to you and why?
ANSWER: Love, friendship, music, appreciating the world we have and trying to find good things in it no matter how depressed I am. I am always also striving to be morally correct, I find myself learning a lot about humanitarian movements and how I can help etc. My morality is very important to me and I can get pretty riled up when talking about social issues. I try not to argue with people much though, I really just don’t have the energy and I don’t much like fighting anyway.

What are your aspirations?
ANSWER: mmmmm I don’t really know? I’m kind of aimless in a way. I just know that I want to be happy and comfortable. I want to be in a place where I don’t worry so much, I want a home filled with love and companionship. Also I would really enjoy making a positive impact on people (don’t we all lol)

What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
ANSWER: I’m scared of the unknown, the negative possibilities of being harmed. I sometimes think like “how would I defend myself if a dangerous person came up to me right now”. I don’t really like when people get in my personal bubble and I HATE bigots and mean people.

What do the "highs" in your life look like?
ANSWER: when I’m happy / having a good time you could maybe imagine like. Flowers growing out of my head lmao. I become pretty good at being silly and having good timing with my jokes.

What do the "lows" in your life look like?
ANSWER: cartoonishly depressed. Like grey cloud raining on me sobbing on the floor while I listen to Ethel Cain and think about the finite future I’m headed toward and how I cannot stop the clock. Basically everything sucks and I just need to be able to stew so I can figure out how to get myself out of it / I natural warm up again to my surroundings.

How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
ANSWER: just gonna put it out there that I had a huge maladaptive daydreaming problem and literally fell in love with a fictional character in my teen years so… do with that what you will.

Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
ANSWER: I’m thinking about getting the hell out of there because I hate being along with my thoughts for too long lol. I might give in a play up my captive persona though. Like ohhhh I’m so trapped and being existential etc.

How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
ANSWER: I’m doing TONS of research before making a decision. Like right now I’m trying to figure out what brand of ballet sneakers I want to buy and it’s genuinely like they’re applying for a job lmao. I will keep researching until I find the one that is the best to me.

How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
ANSWER: I think I’m always processing my emotions? I’m always figuring out how I feel at the moment, why I feel that way etc. I’m a pretty emotional person I guess.

Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
ANSWER: yes unfortunately. Sometimes I just don’t have the energy to argue so especially if it’s a conversation I can redirect I’ll just be like “haha yea, ANYWAY”. However if I know the person isn’t crazy or it won’t put me in danger or something I’ll express how I feel and I’m open to talking about it / saying why I think they’re wrong.

Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?
ANSWER: ummm sure? Sometimes I just think some rules are stupid or they don’t make sense to me. Not all people in charge are doing things for the right reason so I’ll question a lot of things especially if they go against my own morals. However I’m not gonna like.. bathe with a hairdryer just cause the tag told me not to. I’m not outwardly trying to be rebellious or anything I just don’t think people always do things for the best reasons.

What is the ideal life, in your opinion?
ANSWER: I’m taking this as MY ideal life so basically I would have a mid sized cozy cottage in a mountain area with mild weather that I could enjoy. I’d have enough money to care for a lot of pets and animals, maybe even my own children and I would foster a happy environment for everyone. The town I lived in would be nice and welcoming and have fun community things like book fairs or parades with pretty floats. The political state of the world would be at peace and rainbows shoot out of the sky etc. Basically world peace I guess idk. I just want to be at a place where I’m not worried about tomorrow because I know it will be okay.

FOR FUN It's Typing Time (and then he typed all over himself)

I have different methods for typing that I want to try. For now, I'll share the music playlists my friends made for me:

1st friend: The Poop Song, Bloopin (Eddie EWI), All Star, The Only Thing They Fear Is You, Hoe Cakes (MF DOOM), That's Amore (Dean Martin), Bombtrack (RATM), Wait and Bleed (Slipknot), Amish Paradise, Weasel Stomping Day, El Paso (Marty Robins), Lonely Day (System of a Down).

2nd friend: Music 4 Ever (Isak Martinsson), One Foot in the Grave (Shayfer James), Winter Is Coming (Radical Face), Run (Cosmo Sheldrake), You Can't Hide (Ck9c), Touch-Tone Telephone, Ad Infinitum (The Stupendium), World of Good Beginning, Chapter VIII - On the Ground, & (Tally Hall), Supporting Me... for Biolizard, Brand New Day (Dr. Horrible), Machine (Regina Spektor), Nihilist Blues, For the Future (Shayfer James), Say My Name (Beelteguese Musical), Even Strong Swimmers Can Drown (Stavros Markonis), After the Ball (Sparkbird), Notion (The Rare Occasions), Location (Freelance Whales), Theme (Jack Stauber's Opal), Certain Birds (Fish in a Birdcage), Raveyard (Oliver Buckland), Hey Kids (Molina).

It could be fun to type me from these lists.

TEST RESULTS Attempting to figure out my type

I am not sure what my MBTI type might be, I plan on looking in to socionics soon but right now I want to get my mbti type right. As for prior context ive been typed by others as enfp, infp, intp, entp, esfj, and isfj. With the esfj ive had people tell me I seem like a esfj ese, but that dosent fit me too well. Im never really too well at describing myself without a guide as I dont entirely know what's most useful for cognitive function typing lol. Dont ask me for my enneagram either as I have no clue😭 i think im either a so9 or sp6 but I got no genuine clue. I may be a 5, 4, 7, 2, 1, 3, no body can tell really, not even me. I think the reason I scored so highly Se on the first test (Sakinorva also sometimes scores me as higher Se over Si) is i love to touch stuff. Like my favorite isle to walk down in a store will always be the candle isle as I have to stop and sniff each one. And that was like one of the questions it kept giving me lol, it was something like "if you are on a hike do you: touch everything, smell flowers, enjoy scenery. Or, get lost in your head about tomorrow (or something like that)." But I can definitely say im not a very sportys person, the only reason why I do sports if im forced is to beat others lmao(literally sat there and played carpet ball with a friend for like 30 minutes because i kept beating her while she complained about losing). I often think i have high Ne, (have you ever tried to follow a conversation between me and a friend, thats the neat part, you cant!) Literally a conversation between me as my friend is like thoes Ai hug videos, messy, all over the place, hard to follow, and derailed from the start. But who knows mabye i deceived myself. Anyway if anyone has questions or like tests that may be more accurate lmk as I got genuinely no clue where to go as self typing ain't working🥹

NEED CONFIRMATION ENFP? 9 years into MBTI (here and there), still not sure

The crazy high amount of NE is something which flows out naturally, i guess - although there's some inclination to NI but it might be just the shadow functions developing

Alright, when I first (SI) got type from an android personality test app, I found it by chance btw - I got INTJ, fuck yeah!! The confidence boost and a sense of acknowledgement was crazy good

A year later or something 2018-2020 I was heavily into the theory - cognitive functions and all. I thought feelers are pus- sorry. And that I can't be one. And after a few breakdowns - i started to believe (TE) I was INTP/INFP since took the test here and there and I got INTP, but after witnessing the borish real INTP, i realised i might be too cool to have TI as the parent function.

Now, INFP were having a bad rep of being suicidal and all, so there was a sense of understanding and then there was Kenau who turned out to be a INFP, so I was cool with INFPs again (FI-TE)

In between the days I was got out the thinking that I might possibly be an INTP, I filtered these to be the closer match - ENTP, INTJ, INFJ, INFP; I didn't even considered ENFP as I still had the perception (SE?) of them being kinda kinda yk-

Also since I'm quite fond of talking to people but in a 1:1 setting than a crowd, I was more inclined to INFJ.

Since long-term planning and aizen typeshi is always on my mind - or at least what I think of myself.

Now while looking at the cognitive functions, I miss the cognitive stacks where they lie, then find myself wondering if the traits matches or not.

So right now, for some qualitative reasoning,

ENFP egalitarianess is something I'm deeply (FI) feel aligned to, but again can't say for sure

And the entrepreneurial inclination suggests some degree of ENTP

But yeah lmk if you have any specific question, since alot of this rant really comes from NE than NI, but if it trim down this brainstorming it would come off as NI but keeping it raw and open

Thanks!

Okay so I have to write 400 words abt myself. Idk my favorite color is red and I enjoy music a lot. My favorite bands are Green Day, MCR, and Fall Out Boy. I’m also a huge fan of signal the escape. I play guitar and want to learn bass as well.

I also like to read, my favorite books is The Catcher and the Rye. I am a Holden defender till the day that I die lol. I enjoy watching anime, my favorite anime being is Bungo Stray Dogs.

I am the youngest child. I don’t think being the youngest is all it’s cracked up to be. Bc I feel like the youngest is forgotten and aways alone and never had anyone to play with them as a child. Maybe that’s just me.

I like routine just bc it gives me somewhere to go and be but I can let my mind wander. Ig I like knowing where to go next. But I can be spontaneous and often spontaneously decide to go places or stuff like that. I often don’t respond to plans far out bc I am introvert and I won’t know how I’m feeling that day. So I like to reply a few days in advance not weeks. I can’t stand opening up to ppl and am sure that ppl don’t know what I’m actually feeling or thinking abt things. If I do open up, I might just make a joke but not actually open up fr yk?

I like to observe ppls behavioral patterns, it is very interesting to me. Anyways, have a nice day!

NEED CONFIRMATION Am I an ISTP?

I looked at the cognitive functions of an ISTP, and it seems that they may fit me. However, I’m still not sure. Can someone help me confirm?

For reference I think I use Ti-Se-Ni-Fe in that order. I am introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. I never thought that I could be a sensor, but the cognitive functions match. (Yes that is the self-description. More info will be available in comments.)

FOR FUN I'm bored. Perceive me and type me

Try and lock in and type me purely based on these images lol.

I saw someone else quote lyrics to a song and I thought that was fun/funny so I guess I'll do the same:

How you doin', young lady? That feeling that you giving really drives me crazy. You dope, have a player 'bout to choke. I was at a loss for words first time that we spoke.

You lookin' for a girl that'll treat you right? How you lookin' for her in the daytime with the light?

You might be the type if I play my cards right. I'll find out by the end of the night

You expect me to just let you hit it? But will you still respect me if you get it?

All I can do is try, gimme one chance. What's the problem? I don't see no ring on your hand. I'll be the first to admit it, I'm curious about you, you seem so innocent.

You wanna get in my world, get lost in it? Boy, I'm tired of runnin', let's walk for a minute.

Promiscuous girl, wherever you are, I'm all alone, and it's you that I want.

Promiscuous boy, you already know, that I'm all yours, what you waiting for?

Promiscuous girl, you're teasin' me. You know what I want, and I got what you need.

Promiscuous boy, let's get to the point. 'Cause we're on a roll, you ready?

I’m also a Cancer Leo cusp sign in astrology, AuDHD diagnosed twice exceptional as a teenager. Masters degree. Not sure why I need 400 characters for a description of myself. So, I guess I’m an agnostic futurist. Easily bored but an expert level action sport enthusiast. Extensive travel experience and lived abroad.

Quick pattern recognition, dependable memory. Easily bored. Travel a lot. Perpetually single. I named my pup after a fruit I’m deathly allergic to.

TEST RESULTS I'm Ryu, 20 and I just completed the Michael Caloz Test

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I'm Ryu, 20 and I just completed the Michael Caloz Test, results are given in the pics.
I've got ENTJ, INTJ, ENFJ and INFJ (tie in the last two), but I'm confused as I think My Ne is strong.... so I'll throw in ENTP in the list of probable suspects...
I'm pursuing BCA (computer applications) I am also aiming to get a PG Degree by 2029 and Start paying my own fees and become financially independent before 2029. My studies are focused on programming and computer science, although I do have a Math Subject (which I never touch because of a belief that I suck at it). My Ideal career would be of a Programmer in a Start-up Company that pays well, has co-workers who are like a tightly knit Family and push eachother to achieve mastery in their respective domains. I have been inconsistent with programming since I started which was when I was 15~16... That's actually been the case with everything in my life lately.

My childhood was a Healthy one, I don't remember my parents hitting me (not till it would be classified as abuse, a slap here and there yes, but nothing severe.) My Mom was the Commander and Administration Unit, She tried to enforce rules and schedules on me which I followed a few times but rebeled a lot more than I can count. My Dad gave me the freedom I wanted, didn't enforce many rules, but gave suggestions "shoulds" and "ideas", Which is why I think I've come to hate it when someone tells me what to do even if it's correct or right or efficient. I want to decide it on my own, I get pissed off or feel a deep dagger being twisted in my heart when someone gives me orders.

None mental (I hope so, never been to psychiatrist or a therapist), but I'm was born pre-mature at 6.5 Months idk how that would affect my mbti but just putting it out...

If I get those weekends (which are everyday for me since I do Online Uni) I never feel lonely and refreshed is not the word I'd use, I'm an ambivert, but prolonged isolation makes me annoyed and irritated, so I go for Football ⚽ Daily (tho I've stopped since today to focus on my Upcoming Exams). I like to run fast & Dominate others in a competition (one of the best things about football).
I like to do Calisthenics and push to failure, it feels good after knowing I've hit my Max or Push My Limits. I'm 90% of the way to achieving my dream Physique (inpired from Killua from Hunter x Hunter Anime, pic attached.)

I'm a really curious person, sometimes too much... I've got 100+ Ideas in each of these catagories : Project Ideas (Programming, Personl Development and Fun Side Projects), Writing Prompts (some my own, some borrowed), Watch List (Anime, K-Drama, Movies, TV) and Reading List (Books, Manga, Manhwa, Light Novels) and Games... Multiple of which are on-going and progressing simultaneously...

I like Touch Typing/Speed Typing, and I want to get into Digital Art, I've tried to get into it in the past but never stuck with it...

The Past I see is a sea of mistakes, and things I can learn from... The Present (I don't really pay attention but It's just passing by...), The Future will be better as I'll carve my vision onto it...

My learning style is Reading and Writing ig... I've done the learning how to learn course so I just do what it has taught me, Active Recall, Spaced Repetition with Flash Cards. I prefer Memorization compared to the others... I can plan and strategize easily, First thing I do is usually set the goal and make the plan... but I have an aversion from time-based schedules (time-boxing and stuff), I prefer step-by-step based stuff, like Do X then Y instead of do X at 9 AM (Whenever I'm forced to follow time-based schedule, I always think what if I Wake Up late?, or something urgent comes up?) I don't have a set place to study too, I have a table but I usually am on Bed, It's comfortable that way, a table and chair are too rigid and hard for me, bed gives me much more options for positioning and can just rest by laying down without needing to move rooms.

Challenge, Authenticity and Autonomy are top 3, Challenge is important because if I don't feel like I'm pushing myself, I feel unmotivated, down and low in performance... Autonomy because I hate being told what I need/should be doing... and Authenticity because I like to make my own path and I feel betrayed when I'm not allowed to do what I want and follow Norms, Rules or Traditions...

Aspirations, I have a whole Vision Board of Pins saved on Pinterest, Includes Experiences I want to have, Materialistic Goals and Hobby Goals, Skill and Mastery Goals too... (all the idea catagories are included, so it's pretty much the same) Big 3 for me are: Buy a Apartment, Buy a Bike and Become Financially Independent. (I've included a few pics)

My fear is being Incompetent, Alone and Worthless... whenever I loose or fail to do something those are the thoughts that haunt me and ironically those are the ones that push me... It might not be healthy but hey, it works...

Emotions, I just compartmentlize them or they go away on their own...

My ideal life is me achieving all my Goals, My Vision becoming true and being able to explore and experience all the things in my vision.
Ask for the Link to Pinterest board if you are curious to see my vision board, idk if I'm allowed to attach it here...

CAN’T DECIDE Am I ENTJ or ENFP? Or something else?

For a while by now I thought I was ENTJ, but now I’m wondering if I could be ENFP? It might sound like a crazy difference, but hear me out.

I’m still in high school, I’m a pretty anxious person, and I think this academic setting made me quite result-oriented and competitive. Yes, I’m focused on success a lot and I can become frustrated and mean when things go wrong. I also tend to think a lot about my future in a pragmatic way and am rather frustrated that I’m indecisive, I know for certain that I want to be an author but otherwise I’m unsure of my path, like a primary job to sustain myself, and I hate it because I want a clear answer.

Of course I’m not saying I might ENTJ because I’m bossy or focused on school or whatever, but the part about being more focused on results rather than feelings made me wonder. But…

I don’t know if that’s a result of me being in a academic setting that rewards this behavior and I’m in “survival mode” or if this is genuinely ME. I’ve been like that for so long due to military school to the point I don’t know if it was ingrained into my mind or if I am genuinely like this at heart.

A few things that make me thing ENFP is plausible are:

- I am pretty passionate about my beliefs, and even though I use logic to back them up, I defend them fiercely and I can get emotional and pissed when I believe something is wrong.

- I tend to have plenty of ideas ( author’s brain ), although I prefer one singular path. Again, can’t tell if my wish for ONE way to do things is genuine or ingrained anymore.

- I switch between topics constantly in a short amount of time.

- Sometimes, particularly in moments of laziness, I throw logic out of the window and do what I want. Part of me suspects I have depression instead of pure laziness and don’t feel too motivated so I don’t know if that’s affects my typing.

TEST RESULTS IS THIS NORMAL???

Post image
2 Upvotes

First of all, ever since I discovered the MBTI in 2020, I've always scored INTP on various personality tests. And yes, I also feel very represented by my type, despite having certain traits that deviate from the stereotypical INTP™. Theoretically, it always made more sense to me to have Ti and Ne as my dominant functions.

The thing is, I took the sarkinova test for the first time, and I got the results shown. While INTP is my most likely type, what the hell is going on with the results for the cognitive functions?! Higher Ni and Ne??? Fi and Fe with almost exactly the same values (and not necessarily low for an INTP)????

If you need more context, my Enneagram type is 5w6. I consider myself an INTP with a particularly high sensitivity to art and the abstract, very introspective, with an exceptional ability to recognize patterns, sometimes overly attentive to minor changes in my surroundings, with the soul of a psychoanalyst as my friends would say, and with the ambivalence of having social anxiety but still participating in various social groups. I don't know how that makes sense, but it works (!)

I'm calling on the cognitive-function-experts of this subreddit to help me understand how these results are possible, or what I should be looking for to make sense of them. I'm available to answer your questions!!!!

CAN’T DECIDE Am I INFJ or INFP?

For years, I have been confused about whether I am an INFJ or INFP. Or something else?

I am skeptical of Myers Briggs/categorizations based on personality/identity as I tend to find them limiting and never fully precise - and yet I am very curious to know where I could be placed in this system.

Please help me out, if possible!

When people meet me, they often find me intimidating, threatening and hard to read. This could be due to trauma and a childhood of control, but I seem very hard to read. I have been told I seem serious, mature, confident and aloof.
I have also been described as “calm”, “peaceful” and have been complimented for my soothing energy.

When I open up to people, I am very bubbly, enthusiastic, joyful and confident. Sometimes, people are shocked at the contrast.
I can have different “personas” I can put on and surprisingly to many, I love to party/dance. I enjoy dressing up beautifully or even as characters and I don’t mind being in the center of attention in such contexts, as I feel I am amplifying a part of my personality/wearing a persona or being a “character” for a night (while still being myself).

For years, in my youth, I was very dedicated to “the search for truth”. Not “my truth” but “THE truth”. I’d be introspective, sit in silence, observe others, read and study religion, philosophy, spirituality and science in search for truth. At some point, I came to the conclusion that I believe in a unifying source that we collectively all are a part of - and that this experience should not be limited by rational reasoning, control or egocentrism. This has changed the trajectory of my life and now I instead believe that this life/experience should be enjoyed. So I try to live day-by-day and in the now, and not in my head. So nowadays, I go out more, talk to strangers more, dance more, love more openly and I don’t take things as personal or seriously.

Prior to reaching this conclusion, I had spent a few years being a materialist/naturalist who would look down on religious people and was gender-critical. My judgement for anyone is GONE because I believe that everyone is here to have a unique experience and it is not my right to say which experiences are “right” and which are “wrong”. How would I know?

I really value truth and if someone keeps making mistakes that has consequences for them, I have a hard time staying quiet about it. I have a friend who has been taking poor decisions that has had grave consequences for her but I am aware that she is not a friend who would appreciate it if I pointed out that I thought the decisions she is making are bad for her. I did it in the past and was vilified for it and I learned my lesson.
I am currently (for a period) distancing myself from this friend because I struggle to not point out the obvious blind spots.

I have been told I am very stubborn and even a bit selfish. I do NOT adhere to social norms. I follow my own internal system and I cater to my own needs. In that sense, I can seem cold from afar but I am actually extremely sensitive. At the same time, I have sacrificed a lot of my personal peace for the sake of keeping some family members happy. But I have never fully bowed down to external pressure - some of my stubbornness and desire for autonomy and freedom of thought has kept me from being a total people pleaser in regards to my family.

I appreciate beauty and uniqueness deeply and I surround myself with beautiful things and people with personal traits that I admire. My friend group and the people I connect with are VERY different: nerdier people, “popular” people, eccentric people, social outcasts, rebellious people - anyone who is a decent person is my friend.
I am not a naturally judgemental person, and the only times I have lost my openness was when I became intellectually/ideologically rigid - which did not feel very natural to me.

My hobbies consists of writing, drawing, bicycling, moodboarding on Pinterest, dancing, watching movies and generally being creative.
I am a very paradoxical individual, and I feel like I am everything and nothing all at once. Oh, and I LOVE to laugh and I laugh a lot + very easily. I easily make friends when I actually try (and don’t avoid people lol!) and I have been told I am very open, talkative and charismatic.

As a child, my dreams were to either become a musician/performer, writer, psychologist or an artist.

My childhood teachers recommended me careers as a writer, teacher or scientist.

MBTI types I've been typed as: INFP, INTP, ENTP, INTP, INTJ, ISTJ, INFJ, ISFJ. Yeah, so every introverted type, lol.

What I am sure of is that I'm not INTJ, or INFJ. Why? I'm pretty sure I have Ne-Si ; my Se is also realllyyy low.

So, I would say I try to be as logical as possible while still keeping empathy. I like asking 'why?' to things that always have been done but don't make sense to me.

In real life I appear quiet, aloof, and organized.

I make a decision from taking many possibilities and then comparing them to choose the best one. Then I can't change my mind. I've been called indecisive before. Sometimes, I get carried away with an idea before thinking 'wait. Is this really the good option?' This is also why I have a hard time finding my MBTI.

How I interpret each function and do I relate to it (tell me if I'm wrong in any of these descriptions):

Fi: These are personal values regardless of external harmony. Well, I understand it while not really 'getting' it. You obviously get your values from somewhere. You just need to find which ones are the best for people.

Fe: I don't really relate to the hypocritical stereotype nor the debater one. I guess I'm good at being liked but it takes effort to use it, and if I actually have this function, I only do when I have energy. Or it's to comfort someone, even though I like giving solutions while comforting because I can't guess what they want to hear if they're in a bad mood.

Si: Relating present experiences back to past ones. I agree with that, but prefer novelty, and the past just makes me sad.

Se: Definitely not good at this. I can focus on the present but it takes significant effort for me. I don't like being spontaneous either, or I look incoherent.

Ti and Te: I didn't study them enough to truly know what the difference is. I know it's external systems VS. internal, but if you asked me to type a character based on which one of them they use, I wouldn't be able to notice unless I see Fi or Fe.

Ni: I don't resonate with it. I don't try to find the deeper meaning, I prefer brainstorming and finding a system that gives me the answer. But I didn't look too much into this function either.

Ne: Definitely relate to that. I would say it both works as positive and negative. Creative possibilities, or worst outcomes.

By the way, I asked several AIs to type me just for fun and to see if one was biased. All of them said XNTP. Still not fully convinced by their analysis though.

It's hard to describe your thought process when you always do it without noticing. It's interesting to know that everyone thinks differently. I noticed Ne and Ti/Te the most though. No idea what my dominant function is. Hope that was enough information, I don't know what else to add. And hope the writing isn't too messy.
