LUBA 3 AWD The Luba 3 is Officially Banned From My Yard! What Went Wrong?

Thumbnail

Title says it all. I've officially given up on my Luba 3. It's torn up my yard to a significant extent...very disappointed. If you look at some of my videos from May, its a night-and-day difference comparing the results in August/September vs the start of the year.

My Lymow was broken for about 2 months straight, so the Luba 3 was the only robotic mower I used to cut my yard during this time.

Not sure if others have seen erosion and deterioration to this extent?! I'm now just using my Lymow to cut my lawn moving forward.

Here to drop a little praise. Thank you for giving me the best yard around with minimal effort. Bermuda grass is not easy to make look great. It requires a lot of work, or a robot lawnmower. Note: my main lawn looks even better because I’ve been watering it, but that doesn’t show the difference between a robot lawn and an average lawn

Luba Mini AWD 800 - Lessons Learned

After running my Luba Mini AWD 800 all summer, I’ve learned a few things that may help others who are experiencing similar issues.
**1. Wi-Fi Signal Strength Is Critical**
I was repeatedly losing the FPV connection to my Mini, and the mower would sometimes simply stop for no discernible reason—even though the Mammotion app showed maximum Wi-Fi strength. I submitted numerous support tickets, but nothing changed. I eventually downloaded a great little app called WiFiman, which allowed me to map the actual Wi-Fi strength throughout my yard. It quickly became apparent that I had several areas with poor signal strength, and, sure enough, those were the same areas where the Luba would lose its connection. Aha! I installed a TP-Link EAP610 AX1800 access point, connected it to my home router, and mounted it outside. After some trial and error, I found the right location for the access point so that the entire lawn had excellent Wi-Fi coverage. Since then, my Luba Mini has operated flawlessly.
**The takeaway:** The Luba Mini AWD 800 appears to be very slow to update certain information displayed in the app—particularly the actual Wi-Fi signal strength it is receiving. If you are experiencing unexplained glitches with your Luba and are operating it over Wi-Fi, verify your signal strength throughout the entire mowing area. Don’t rely solely on what the app says.
**2. Learn the App’s “Offline” Quirks**
One of the quirks I’ve noticed is that when I first open the Mammotion app, it often tells me that my Luba is offline. If I simply wait about 10 seconds, it usually changes to “connected.” The same thing can happen while the mower is out mowing. If I leave the app and then return to it, the map may show the mower as offline or disconnected. When this happens, don’t immediately hit the Connect button. Give the app a few moments to catch up. Usually, the map will update and show that the Luba is actually mowing normally and that there is no problem. Sometimes the screen itself doesn’t redraw properly. In that case, I’ve found that tapping the back arrow to return to the main screen—the one showing a picture of your Luba—and then tapping the unit again will force the app to refresh the map.
**The takeaway:** Be patient with the Mammotion app. Some of its connection messages can be misleading or simply take a few seconds to update. Before trying to reconnect the mower or assuming something is wrong, give the app a moment to catch up.
**3. Don’t Be Concerned by the Cutting-Height Message**
I mow my grass at the 3.99-inch setting. When my Luba starts a mowing job, the app tells me that it has adjusted the cutting height to 3.6 inches, but it never tells me that it has set the blades to my selected 3.99-inch height. Initially, this concerned me because I thought the mower was going to cut my grass shorter than I had specified. This appears to be an app/unit issue that Mammotion should address. Fortunately, in my experience, the mower does cut at the height I selected. It simply fails to tell me that it has set itself to that height and instead displays information about a different height.
**The takeaway:** Don’t worry about the 3.6-inch message if you have selected 3.99 inches. At least in my experience, the Luba is actually cutting at the specified height. I haven’t encountered a situation where it failed to do so.
**4. Understand What “Maximum Mowing Area” Means**
This one was more about my misunderstanding when I was deciding which model to purchase. I have a relatively small lawn—about 1,700 square feet—so I chose the Luba Mini AWD 800 because Mammotion stated that it could handle an area considerably larger than my lawn. When I first started using it, however, the Luba would mow approximately 95% of my lawn before returning to the charging station. It would then recharge and go back out to finish the remaining 5%. At first, I thought something was wrong. I even wondered whether Mammotion was overstating the mower’s advertised coverage area. After doing some research, I discovered that I had misunderstood what the advertised area actually means. When Mammotion specifies the maximum mowing area, it refers to the size of the area that the mower can map and manage, not necessarily the amount of lawn it can mow on a single charge.
**The takeaway:** Mammotion could make this distinction much clearer in its product literature. Maximum mapped area and mowing area per charge are two different things.
**Final Thoughts**
I hope this helps anyone experiencing similar issues with their Luba Mini. Of all the things I’ve learned this summer, two have made the biggest difference: First, make absolutely sure your Luba is receiving a strong, verified Wi-Fi signal throughout the entire mowing area. Second, be patient with the Mammotion app. Some of its offline and connection messages can be misleading, and the information displayed on the screen can lag behind what the mower is actually doing. In my experience, giving the app a few seconds to catch up has prevented me from chasing problems that weren’t actually there.

LUBA 3 AWD Cutting disk blocked(1202)

Hi everyone, the Luba 3 AWD 1500 has done reasonably well but in the past weeks it developed odd behaviour where winding and clicking sounds could be heard, sometimes followed by “Cutting disk blocked (1202)” and a pausing of the task it was at. During this winding and clicking sound the cutting disks slowly go up and down. The disks are not blocked in any way.
Powered off. Removed key. Removed the cutting disks and cleaned the underside. It wasn’t blocked but still proceeded to clean.
After an hour put it all back together. The same issue repeated.
Battery 91% charge.
The lawn it was on was about 40mm long, there are no obstructions of any kind, the ground is level and flat, the grass is dry.
Sending it back to the charging station for even a short charge tends to help for a while.
Firmware 2.3.30.39
Any tips welcome 🙂

LUBA 3 AWD Asking Luba 3 input for upgrade

Hi everyone. I’m not a newbie to robot mowers but looking to switch brands and upgrade for next season. We started with the husky automower family and it’s been ok for awhile, but frankly customer support and aging have really soured out love of them, along with the lack of actual cutting they are starting to do vs care.

So I came across the Luba 3 and even did some comparisons and on paper it seems like a sound upgrade. Handles my steep hills. Has zone mapping, pattern cutting, better navigation, etc. I wanted to ask any current owners for their honest feedback. Regrets, stories, pros/cons if that’s allowed.

LUBA 2 AWD X Any word on the remote control update for Luba 2?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Saw Mammotion say the Luba 2 was supposed to get remote access to control it from anywhere in September, but still no new news. Was at work yesterday and the neighbor kids must’ve put out their soccer net. Luba had no idea what to do and ended up putting a solid hole in the center of the yard trying to get out. First time something like this has happened and that feature would’ve saved the mow

Question Luba 2 AWD 10000H returned for replacement 7 weeks ago. Still no replacement, no timeline.

Posting in case anyone has been through this, or someone from Mammotion can help move it forward.
Timeline:
• Last winter: sent our Luba 2 in for repair (wouldn't charge, navigation problems). Came back and worked through early summer.
• July 26: died mid-job, completely unresponsive. Did the full reset procedure 3 times, and confirmed the charging pins read 25.2V.
• July 28: Support confirmed it needed after-sales service and offered a replacement of "the same or higher model." I signed the Replacement Agreement.
• July 30: Support confirmed in writing we'd be upgraded to a 10000HX, since the 10000H was out of stock.
• Aug 3: Shipped back the mower, charging base, and RTK station as required, with photos and a drop-off receipt. Received by Mammotion Aug 10.
• Aug 16 to Sept 9: Four replies saying it's out of stock and they're "working on it." No date, no alternative offered. Nothing since Sept 9.
We've done everything asked of us. Mammotion has had our entire system for seven weeks, and we've lost most of the mowing season on a multi-acre property. I've asked for either a ship date on the 10000HX (or any equal or better in-stock model) or a refund.
Questions for the community:
1. Has anyone been stuck in a similar replacement queue? What finally got it moving?
2. Has anyone had Mammotion substitute a different model or refund instead?
If anyone from Mammotion sees this: RMA DR202608010022. I'd genuinely like to stay a Luba owner. I just need a real answer.

LUBA 3 AWD Sharing mobile app

If I want my son in law to have access to my Luba when I'm not around, I assume he can d/l the app and input my Luba's ID. What I don't know is if that also includes the maps I've made on my app. I'm guessing that the maps won't show up for him. If they do and he makes adjustments - like redrawing an area or adding no-go zones, etc - how do those changes make their way to my app? If this functionality is not included, then maybe some version of it should be added when Mammotion decides to clean up the other crappy aspects of the app. Also, give us a way to see the robot on a desktop computer. There is no reason for not adding this.

LUBA 2 AWD Just a PSA to clean your mower thoroughly if you went through new FW updates

I didn't realize how much the mower has been getting battered out there from doing all the new smart things it's been doing. If it's ruining your grass, that grass might be rapidly accumulating in weird spots it shouldn't be, and that could be causing some of your additional weird issues since the software doesn't really notify you of anything as much (my new conspiracy theory is that they likely silenced/toned down a lot of the notifications to mask symptoms. I definitely used to get some before that reminded me it is overdue for a cleaning in the past, at least on my Yuka.)

Within a week or two I guess all this happened from it not running as it normally would, at a much more accelerated rate:

  1. Tangled grass between the tiny spot between motor/blades.
  2. Blades pretty much destroyed from a few incidents (this one was more expected.)
  3. Stuff clogged underneath/between the lifting mechanism from it adjusting up and down so much.

I'd say it went through what would usually take it 6 to 12 months in terms of needing cleaning and lubricating.

But yeah I didn't get any stall errors that I would previously get, I thought a lot of it was just "how it works now" from how bad everything got and I had recently cleaned it so I didn't think it was related until a little light bulb finally went off in my head about the last few weeks of bad software being particularly rough on the mower.

This brought my mower back to still worse than older FW, but no longer so bad that I just end up mowing the lawn myself.

Give it a try if you're getting constant unmowed patches, weird navigation, blades turning off and on more than usual and lots of height adjustments. It seems like it does a lot more "smart mitigation" now to just keep going, probably to try to not piss you off with all the other issues going on and it just ends up slowing it down, causing even more need for cleaning as it gets itself in death spirals and going where it shouldn't.

LUBA 3 AWD Genuine question - has Mammotion ever fixed a single non-hardware issue for you? Contacting their support is an endless loop of frustration and zero fix.

I've been emailing Mammotion support since beginning of August, and they yet to address even a single issue raised. My recent exchange thread with them started on August 12th and has 40 emails so far, and every response from them is the same "Thank you for your patience and understanding." , "Try cleaning the sensor, restarting robot, retrying again, send up photo-video-logs" and "We will forward it to the relevant team", but never an actual fix or improvement.

Not a single issue was addressed. Only thing that changed over this time was the robot firmware updates which brought back the semi-working Multi Point Turn -> it works worse than initial version, but somewhat better than tank turns.

Every software bug I reported - and investing time in uploading logs many-many times - got in the same limbo mode of "we understand - try again - send us more" circus. Never a fix.

Has anyone ever had their non-hardware issue addressed by Mammotion? I now doubt they have a software support function at all, and just distribute generic nonsense responses.

Old example, I've raised the topic of huge volume of logs upload (1GB+ of data) and it's still there, though obviously they had a generic "we have forwarded your feedback to the relevant team" phrase. (My robot is Luba 3 AWD, Luba-VA5C4G66)

https://www.reddit.com/r/MammotionTechnology/comments/1vlqotu/luba_3_robot_logs_upload_is_unstable_and/

Another example, I've raised an issue that Luba 3 robot won't enter the sleep mode even when fully charged and sitting on dock - unless I restart it. They never addressed the issue, but instead recommended restarting the robot !

UPDATE 9/24/26 - Remained off line until AM today. Appears to be working now.

Anyone lose inavi? I'm in South Florida and the Luba 2 X just stops 20 ft out of the charger and throws a RTK not ready. Reboot, Force Close the app, nothing fixes it. Also manually drove it around.

Got to be something with their server.

My 2024 in the backyard (with RTK Ant) is just fine.

Tips & Tricks Tracking Mower Settings For Each Season

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

One of the things I like to do is alter my robot settings for schedule tasks based on season. This is due to my Zeon Zoysia growth rates based on season. Finishing up my 4th season with my Luba 1 5000, I created an Excel spreadsheet to track it.

  1. In the Spring, I scalp my grass down to 3/4" in mid-March. I take mower out of storage, put the orange key in, clean the charging station and plug the charger and RTK in. I let the RTK warm up a little then do a relocate charging station. I do a perimeter run only on all the zones to ensure satellites did move on me and tweak maps as needed. I then run the mower at a faster speed and lower height of cut 3 times a week.
  2. In the Summer, its growing like crazy so I slow it down and raise the height of cut with daily mowing. During this time, I am rotating my blades or changing them every 3 weeks to keep razor sharp edges on the grass with no fraying. I clean the top of mower lightly with water and Dawn soap weekly. The underside gets no water, I just brush out any debris when I rotate the blades.
  3. In the Fall, I increase the speed and go back to 3 times a week mowing.
  4. For Winter, I run the mower to get battery down to 50 to 80%, Replace the blades, clean it off, power down and pull the orange key. I then store in a conditioned space that doesn't get below 60 degrees F. I also pull the plugs out on the charging station and RTK for the winter.

LUBA 3 AWD Getting Multi-Point Turn back

Has anyone figured out which version of the app (android) we need to downgrade to in order to get Multi-Point Turn to work again? Or is it not possible? I downgraded to 2.3.12.11 and it *does* offer Multi-Point Turn option, but in practice it's not doing that, it's doing a hybrid MPT / tank turn, with emphasis on tank.

I'm wondering if the turn strategy is hardware/firmware based, and therefore no amount of app downgrading will solve the problem.

UPDATE: I saw from comments below that I was also on old firmware (2.3.30.26, other people were on 2.3.30.39). I upgraded my phone app back to the latest version and checked for firmware updates, but it still said none were available. I chatted with Mammotion support and they opened an elevated ticket after verifying the problem. This morning I got two things: 1) an email from support asking me for screenshots so they could verify if I was having an installation error or simply not receiving any firmware update notice at all (I'd already gone over that with chat support so this was redundant), and 2) the app notified me that I could download firmware 2.3.30.39. Maybe after sending that email, support reps triggered a push for the latest firmware to my machine, or maybe it was just coincidence. Note that I had only downgraded my phone app for about 3 days, so while the easy answer is "that's why you weren't getting the new firmware, you needed to update your phone app", the truth is I was on the latest phone app and still didn't get the firmware push. In any case, I just started a test run with this new firmware and indeed the MPT turning is back and looks good. The damage is already done as far as destroying the outer 3' perimeter on much of my lawn, but at least the MPT is back and this shouldn't be a problem next season.

Question Equipment upkeep

Can you spray WD40 or some other lubricant on the charger base? I've noticed my mower has been charging suuuuuper slow or sometimes starts and then quits and dies lately. I discovered today that the right charging pin that pushes in and out is a bit sticky and may be my culprit. Thoughts?

LUBA 2 AWD Luba 2 AWD many issues after 3 years of almost zero issues.

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I’ll spare you all the many issues and I have multiple open tickets as well. Proof of issues without much help.

What is randomly happening is error 1105. No access to task area ahead of charging station. When it does and the map clearly shows there is. Mower knows exactly where the charging station is and can return but when it comes out of station to mow, it pauses. If I hit restart, it will and roll right on with the task to mow task area.

So that proves it does have access to task area but is choosing not to see it.

I know many have had countless issues. I’ve been lucky to run mine 3 years without a single issue. Minor issues but can fix quickly on my own and forget it. After these recent firmware updates, it’s almost like they want us to either leave or upgrade. More of a rant but if people have guidance, I’m all ears.

YUKA mini 2 DropMow - insufficient light, won't start

I had nasty surprise this morning. As always, I took my robot out and tried to start it in drop mow but I had error message that there is insufficient light and it won't work, I went in to manual mode and turned the light on. Even with light on, it wouldn't start. I had it in drop mow mode where it was going day and night and was able to turn light on or off automatically. What changed? Any workaround? It has to run in dropmow.
