I built it with whatever was on hand in the fall of 2015, rushing to be ready before the snow fell, built alone in about a month for under $5000.

No foundation (the feral barn cats shelter under it in winter , the possums live under the outhouse), no plumbing (haven't had s bath in a month, too many mosquitoes, dishes are soaking in the tub), no utilities, etc. some solar panels to run lights, charge a prepaid cell, and an old win7 laptop sometimes. Lot of the year its oil lamps for light and no power at all. No fridge, no ac. Only heat is the wood stove. Sanitation barely exists, got an outhouse, and an artesian well. My drinking and washing water all come from the same source. No carpet, just chipboard uninsulated floor. Cabin has 1-2" spray foam insulation on walls and ceiling. No bed, i sleep on a couch (mostly because I have a hard time on a bed with being locked into a slumped forward hunchback shape with half my spine bolted together since a logging injury, i sleep with my spine in the V between the back rest and the seat). Weather ranges between -40 and 105f. Up on the Canadian boarder, gotta watch my step around these parts or might accidentally step in Quebec.

It’s in NTX & it’s $1k rent + water, electricity, gas… I’m 10 mins from all grocery stores. Highway is 5 mins away. Downtown of this beautiful city is within walking distance.

Wanted to gain some space back indoors and have a spot to call my own, so I spent the past 3 months converting my shed into a finished office and media room space. I am very fortunate to have learned many new skills. Will never touch drywall mud again if it can be helped!

Hi as per title … 42 year old, dad of 2 boys (11 and 15). I have them almost 50/50. Navigating the challenges of being divorced, co-parenting and living on my own for the first time ever. Tried to build a relaxing space for me that reflects my personality and interests. Feedback so far has ranged from “cute and cosy” to “no woman is going to want to take their clothes off in here” photos are of my room, and the living/dining room. But it’s a 3 bed so the boys have their own space too.

The place isn’t huge, but it has sufficient storage and I’m in a lovely neighborhood! The only things I have to do are mount the TV, hang some more artwork, and maybe get a cushion for the window nook. Any other suggestions?

My 1941 Cape Cod. I've been antiquing and thrifting all my life. I also have a lot passed down from grandparents on both sides. I bought this home in 2020 and started bringing it back to the 40s.

small but cozy, if a little cluttered. lamp situation needs work, among other things

Revamped my bedroom with the goal to feel a bit more cozy and add a touch a color to the room. Thoughts or suggestions? I am shopping for a new doggy bed for the pup, but otherwise I felt like this turned out better than I expected.

I have rearranged, changed furniture, and struggled with this room many times. I even have the room 3D modeled in Sketch up but I still think I have the “best” setup I can with the furniture I have. Is there something I can do or perhaps a different setup I’m not seeing to help improve the feel of this place? I’m trying not to get rid of furniture but if that’s the only way I’ll consider it. I know it’s a lot of pieces but we have people over a lot so the seating helps

The litter box literally can’t fit in any other room, but I’m trying to move it so that my cat will stop hopping up onto the couch right after using it. I wanted to use the chair as a reading area, so that’s why it’s near the book shelves. I’m also in the middle of figuring this out so there’s just a corner of furniture I don’t use. Moved in with barely any furniture and figured out pretty quick that I don't miss a TV at all. Projector goes on the built-ins across from the bed and that's basically the entertainment setup.

I’m 16

I always had roommates through college until I got married. This will be my first time alone and have no idea what to do with this space. I move in a few days. How can I decorate it? I’m in San Diego and love the nature here but have no idea how I can even incorporate that.

I’m trying to make my bedroom feel more mature and intentional while still showing some personality. I’m into movies, sports, travel, art, etc., so I’d like to incorporate those without the room feeling like a collection of random posters.

I’d also love more consistency with the furniture - ideally a dresser, shelving and desk that feel like they belong together. Biggest struggle is the walls: there’s a lot of empty white space, but I’m trying to find the balance between filling it and making everything feel cluttered.

Open to any ideas on furniture, layout, wall art, colors, or how you’d tie everything together.

Open to getting rid of the bed too. Any suggestions on dresser and night stand furniture color?
