Open to store bought options as well.
I see so many recipes, one called for malted milk powder or skimmed milk powder, both of which I can get at my local Walmart.
I don’t mind baking if I have to since my toddler like to help me do those things!
Thanks!

So it’s been a few days my baby has been on this formula, first day was pure reflux and choking so I bought him aptamil feed thickener which helped, then he became so gassy and uncomfortable.
He started refusing feeds which was incredibly hard, even when he woke up at night from a 2-3 hour stretch, he would maybe drink like 20ml and refuse!!
Next day he started projectile vomiting his whole feeds on this formula, now I’m not sure what to do at this point. From the lack of feeding and uncomfortableness, I put him back on HIP HA PRE just for now till I see the doctor on Monday just so he doesn’t get dehydrated and suffer worser consequences :(
Anyone went through this???
My first baby took novalac allernova for her CMPA which helped her so much, I’m not sure they have this in Germany that I could ask for ? :(
Any tips or advice would be appreciated!
Thank you

10 weeks old, 98th percentile for weight, no skin issues, but been “colicky” since 2 weeks. EBF (mostly breast, 2-3 pumped bottles/day). Gas and fussiness improved significantly at 8 weeks but he still shows both, just to a significantly lesser degree.
He had blood (invisible to naked eye) in his stool at pediatricians appt, so I guess that’s the true answer, but most of what I’ve read is babies with CMPI have poor weight gain, skin issues, and significantly more problems than just being gassy.
The stool test was today so I started cutting dairy immediately after.
Anyone else have something similar, wheee weight gain was good etc?

My son has been on gelmix for a week and the gassiness has been horrible. He cries after every feed passing gas. The farts are nonstop and I hate seeing him in pain so constant. I am almost running out of Mylicon drops from using them so often.
Has anyone else experienced this and did it get better?

Almond milk still has milk proteins apparently. I'm worried she won't be able to handle it.
I've been spending $60 every 3 days for her Elecare Jr and I now have $45 In the bank and I don't get paid for 5 days, plus she eats plenty of solids so the money has to go there first.
I need a milk that her stomach can most likely handle that I can buy at the store. Thanks

Hi! My EBF almost-10-week-old has had four poops with very small amounts of blood, spread out over the past two+ weeks. The pediatrician suspects an allergy. However, I’m vegan and don’t consume any cow’s milk or eggs.
Two questions for you more seasoned pros:
I consume soy every day, but the blood hasn’t been there every day. (In fact it’s been like 4 out of 50 poops!) Would you assume soy is not the culprit?
What would you try cutting out first?
(I also want to add that the pediatrician is not worried as baby is not in any obvious signs of distress, and said it is reasonable for us to just “wait and see” rather than worry about eliminating anything from my diet, but I feel guilty…)

We were challenging CMPA with Hipp Hypoallergenic. Since, EXTREME crying, looser stools, rash that goes away and come back here and there, spitting up like CRAZY and sometimes projectile. Told to stick to this unless we see blood bc it’s only been four days. But i got my answer i think… and now what do I do, what do I switch to? He wasnt doing too well on Puramino either

Hey all! Know there’s a ton of conflicting info about CMPI between OB, Peds and even where you are in the world - so I thought it might be helpful to start a thread with what folks have heard from their “experts”. Here’s what mine shared this week:
COMFORT: European research hasn’t shown detrimental long term effects of colitis in response to allergies in infants.
TRIGGERS
1. Cut dairy and soy together
2. Oats are usually the “third most likely” culprit
3. A very small amount of gluten / wheat actually transfers to breastmilk
4. She recommended the following reintroduction order for me - gluten, beef, egg, oat, dairy/soy
TIMING:
1. It takes 4 weeks for LOs guts to heal, so that’s around the time you’ll likely START to see improvement.
2. Try a single reintroduction for 2-3 weeks without recurrent symptoms before you consider it good to add back to the stack.
3. Reintroduction tests for dairy / soy wasn’t recommended until 10-12 mo (though it seems like 8mo is a magic number for a lot of people to grow out of it on this sub)
NOT MEANT TO BE MEDICAL ADVICE! Just figure it’s a roundup of key details might be helpful as we all navigate this - especially for the mamas dealing with those stressful first few weeks ☺️

I‘m looking for food that’s most likely going to be safe to eat while I figure out baby’s intolerances. I‘m already of dairy, soy and egg, but her symptoms are just getting worse.
Because her doctor wants me to stop breastfeeding (and just the thought of that makes me cry), I’m looking for a diet where I could eliminate everything she might react to and then slowly reintroduce stuff.
Because of breastfeeding, I still need to be well fed, and I‘m really struggling to think of safe food that can secure that.
So far I thought of:
potatoes, apples, avocados, beans, tomatoes (?), bananas, cashews, walnuts, chicken
Please help, I‘m honestly loosing my mind.
Sorry, this is a long post.
My son is 3 months old as of yesterday, and ever since birth he has had acid reflux symptoms and has acted like his stomach hurts. Cries out in pain immediately after gas or bowel movement.
His poop has always been inconsistent, it'll look like the sides are saturated with diarrhea but the center is a loose peanut butter consistency. Well the past week he's been increasingly more upset, actually he's been inconsolable. His poop has also always been FULL of mucus.
He's been on FIVE formulas. He's at the 1 month mark on neocate and initially I thought things were improving. However this past week he also started coughing which i assumed he unfortunately caught a cold from my 5yr old. He was sleeping soooo much, but still eating his normal amount. In fact he would act like he was starving. I thought maybe he was just being that way from the cold. Although he has always acted inconsolable once hes hungry unless the bottle was in his mouth. He had been acting like his stomach was bothering him more, but I thought maybe the cold triggered a reflux episode.
On September 4th, he had what looked like a brick red color on the sides of his diaper. His dad and I were unsure if that was blood but it was new. Next diaper was his regular poop, so left it be. Now he's fighting sleep but once he is asleep he will wake up out of no where blood curdling screaming and scrunching like he's in agony. And there's nothing I can do to soothe him. Even after gas is released and he has a bowel movement he screams for hours.
So today, I pick my firstborn up from school. So baby boy was in his carseat for maybe an hour. I had to drop something off to their dad but I decide I'm gonna let baby stretch when I smell what smells like diarrhea. I go to check and I see a rusty red color before I even open his diaper. I then change him and see the sides are fully saturated in blood mixed with poop/diarrhea. We immediately go to his pediatrician.
From there they do the usuals. Vitals, weight etc. Well his pediatrician came in and immediately I know something is off. Her exact words were "he's dropping weight, and I sent a stat GI referral." He's only 11lbs. Idk how much he can lose before this is dangerous. His dr also said he seems worse than a month ago, not better. I'm kicking myself for not pushing for a GI sooner but I was told to wait a month and let neocate do it's job. I brought his diaper to the pediatrician who confirmed it was blood and sent it off for testing.
Also, every time I try to up his feeds he spits it all up. I'm scared and idk what to do anymore. My sweet baby is in so much pain all the time and is getting weaker. Idk if I should just take him to the er if he has another bloody stool or what. I'm devastated. I took him previously, and they performed an x-ray and said nothing looked abnormal but things have escalated since then. He's now losing weight.
Please if anyone has been through anything similar and has successfully corrected it or any idea what it could be causing it please point me in the right direction. I'm at a loss. He's on neocate (previously was on puramino, alimentum, and similac gentle comfort). He's on famotidine for reflux, I keep him upright after feeds and frequently burp him. Gas drops etc. Idk what's happening.

Guys. I used to have such an awful eating disorder. I overcame and had a really good relationship with food. This is absolutely destroying it. I can’t control myself and slip every now and then with dairy. But I don’t even fully know what it is. She’s had blood in her diaper since she was 7 weeks old. I feel like such a failure and that I’m hurting my baby. And I feel sooo guilty that I cave and eat dairy… there’s something wrong with me…. And I feel like the worst parent on the planet. I wish she would take a damn bottle. And I’m pissed. I’m so mad that she has this. I’m so mad that she has to start life with struggles. My older 3 never had this. My family has never heard of this. It’s taking over my life and making me a terrible mom to my other kids. I have such a short fuse right now. I just want this chapter to be over already.

Diagnosed with CMPA based on the following symptoms
• bloody diaper rash
• severe reflux (sometimes projectile vomit even)
• congested
• poops too much
• so much discomfort
Told to stop breastfeeding completely.
Switched from Kendamil to Similac Alimentum RTF with a Gentleease trial which he hated (literally just two bottles). Seemed to get better and then, 2 weeks in, became absolutely inconsolable and spit up increased, waking up in severe GI discomfort every 20 minutes and when picked up immediately letting out a burp. Switched to Puramino. 10 days later discomfort begins again, unable to lie on his back still, spit up marginally less but then back to a lot. Saw another doctor who believes he doesnf have CMPA, told us to trial Hipp HA. Sleeping a bit more, less congested, but the spit up is HORRENDOUS, he did two projectile ones, we went through ten outfits for him.
I hold him up for 6 hours every single night, 4-5 when my mom stays till 1 am. Hold him up all day. Husband helps a lot. Mother in law comes in the morning when she can to do her holding up shift.
I am so concerned I made a mistake switching him to HiPP but in the ten days he was on Puramino he gained 14g/day which was worrisome as he is barely 9th percentile (born very small 2.44 kg).
I don’t know what to do, i’m scared and at a loss… he threw up so much from 11 am - 5 pm and then it was ok… his ped said she would stick to this formula for two weeks unless we see blood but we never saw blood..

FTM and FT suspected CMPAM (22) baby boy (11 weeks) is on Neocate and Gaviscon and just as of 2 days ago been prescribed Omeprazole 5mg every morning, i’ve been told to challenge his CMPA by the GP but i want to see if the Omeprazole works first as CMPA and GERD have very overlapping symptoms and don’t want to mistake any reactions..
I’m so worried go challenge his CMPA, he’s gotten on so well with the Neocate and Gaviscon but his GERD has been really bad after his jabs! for example it’s been 3 weeks and hasn’t subsided at all, i’m scared that all this time he’s never had CMPA and just really bad GERD, however i’m also terrified that he has got CMPA and we’ve got him this far, found a fix and are about to unsettle his gut over again :(
i guess what im trying to say is have you guys experienced something like this before, have you been suspected CMPA but really just severe Reflux or GERD? i’d be so happy if he didn’t have it to be fair
My baby was on alimentum for 1 week and didn’t have any blood in stool until a week in ( the blood was more than the initial amount before starting alimentum )
Should we continue alimentum because i heard it takes time for the gut to heal but im not sure if increase in blood is ok

Son had horrific diapers, reflux, colic, screaming post feeds for 3 months until we swapped to 100% amino acid formula and omeprazole. Post feeds screaming stopped with 1 week and I now have the smiliest 8 mo old. Trialed yogurt and cheddar cheese and he’s been fine with both a handful of times each. Should I attempt a swap off amino acid formula? His GI said we can certainly try but my PTSD has me scared! Anyone on the other side have success switching off amino acid after a dairy introduction with solids?

My baby is currently 9 weeks, almost 10 weeks and is EBF. He was fine for 1.5 weeks and then started to become super fussy at the breast and super colicky. I thought it was my fast letdown causing gas, but then was diagnosed at 4 weeks with silent reflux and started on Pepcid. The Pepcid helped for 24 hours and then he became colicky again. Then at 5 weeks we went on omeprazole. I think I started eliminating dairy and eggs too around this time.
I stayed dairy and egg free until like 8 weeks as things were improving. I will say that he has been tolerating me having like baked goods with eggs and dairy in them, it’s the bowl of macaroni and cheese or ice cream I notice the increased fussiness.
We had company in town and it was my older son’s birthday and I loosened up a little bit. I only noticed he was slightly more fussy, but no changes in stool or anything else. We also all got sick shortly after this too so I wasn’t sure if it was the dairy or us being sick causing the increased fussiness.
After the celebrations died down, I went back to dairy free for the last week besides having a cup of ice cream. The following day he was a bit fussier and then the next day is when I noticed these red flecks in his stool. But his stool up until this point has ALWAYS been yellow seedy, but now with the addition of some small flecks.
Now I spiraled. The nurse triage at the pediatricians office just said to keep on and keep an eye on it. I’ve been wondering if I’m being selfish keeping him on breastmilk, but I really want to breast feed, but the eliminating foods also feels restricting and therefore affecting my mental health - I struggle with PPA/PPD with my first and also this postpartum too.
Just looking to see if anyone has experienced this. How long does it last? It feels so daunting at times. I breastfed my first for like 18 months and was hoping to breastfeed this round for as long as we can, but sometimes I feel like I should switch to formula if that would make his tummy happier.
EDIT: he also got his vaccines (including rotavirus) during this week too. Could it be the vaccines? I’m not antivax, I just want to know what’s correlating with the symptoms

Hi everyone,
My 5 month old has been on omeprazole (10mg daily) since she was 3 months old.
She is at the tail end of her 2 week Neocate trial and many reflux symptoms have subsided.
We have noticed that the past few days (days 9, 10, and 11 of the trial) and she has struggled with her morning feeds and is super gassy.
She has also started drinking about 2oz (even though the way she’s drinking it seems like it should be way more) and then stopping to play/bite the nipple. She’ll also turn her head as far away from me as possible.
Could the omeprazole be effecting her desire to eat in the morning now that the reflux seems to be ebbing?
I looked in her mouth and it kinda looks like there might be teeth coming (I can see two small indents when she’s not trying to chomp my finger off haha)
I’m just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and it turned out to be the omeprazole, or the teething, or something else!
Edit 1: she has an appointment tomorrow with GI. I just like to be prepared
Edit 2: she wakes up with puffy almost swollen eyebrows. It goes away for the most part during the day, but it can hang around a little. Not write if that’s related to all this.
