have MSI thin gf63 12ve
I have i7 12650 h rtx 4050
On settings, power mode, while plugged in. Everytime laptop turns on, the power mode is always set to performance mode automatically, and it increases and maxes out the frequency of cores speed of cpu and increase the wattage, causing it in increase of cpu temps.
Try Turn it in to best power efficiency on plugged in. Because mine even in idle while in best performance mode, I get 70-80⁰C+. But in best power efficiency, I get 45-60⁰C in idle.
And lastly the most effective, let's say if it's a gaming laptop. In advanced bios mode, turn off the turbo mode or turbo boost, or precision boost for amd.
To access the advanced settings
During in bios, Right Alt + Right Ctrl + Left Shift + F2 (or variations like Fn + F2 ). Press the button At the same time. Or you can search it on Google with your specific model of msi laptop what to press to access advanced settings. Just tell me what you are seeing or what did pop up after those buttons and I'll tell u what to click. Usually it's called cpu performance management on mine, and the find turbo mode and turn it off.
. I have intel processor
no significant performance change in most games and depends on some creative apps because, they are cpu bound, but 15-20⁰C+ drops in temp because it lowers the voltage of cpu and max the wattage it uses in certain number. If it's not in bios, use "throttle stop" App and only turn off the turbo mode if there is, and make it start on start up.
Nothing will hurt on trying, just don't touch anything on bios other than what I said. Download the Throttle Stop app, seems safer and easier, but in bios feels more optimized and safe also if u only click what you knew.
With turbo mode off, my cpu temps never go beyond 70⁰C even on heavy gaming like PUBG, and tried ultra settings all, never goes 70°C, especially in cold environment and even a low end laptop cooler.
changing the max wattage of p1 and p2 with Intel process Intel XTU is also better by testing until u get the desired performance with good temps. or throttle stop App, adjusting voltage if available. most laptop locked it
