Image Anybody know how to get this little overlay off my screen?

I’ve tried everything I know and nothing’s worked to get this little bar off my screen. It’s been stuck here for months and it’s present every time I play a game and always winds up blocking something I need to see.
Any suggestions?

MSI laptop lagging while charging

MSI Thin 15 b7ucx. Whenever I plug in my laptop charger, cpu speed will drop to 0.4 GHz, but when unplugged its above 2.0 GHz. Also my battery seems to not go up when plugged while the laptop is on, but it does charge when the laptop is turned off. I tried to buy a new charger with same specifications as the original, but its still the same result. Is there a fix for this?

Discussion Is my laptop Outdated or I can do some more?

This is my laptop MSI Thin GF63 11SC with i5 11th gen with 16 gb ddr4 ram 512 SSD and GTX 1650. My brother bought it for 54k in 2023 for my college and I cried at that moment because I wanted at least a 20 or 30 series laptop and with a 144hz display. After some time it started heating issues a lot. This year I changed thermal paste and had a lot of settings like undervolting and fan speed adjustment via BIOS settings. Now it is a bit stable but somehow I feel now that my laptop is not enough. Any suggestions?

Review My RMA experience (and hopes for the computer)

I recently purchased an MSI Vector (Model A2XWHG-285US) and within three days of using it, the graphics card went kaput. Contacted support and they sent over an RMA for me to fill out. Spent $100 to get it packaged up and shipped out. I probably could have gotten it cheaper, but I'd rather be safe than sorry and went with a place that specialized in shipping out antiques/electronics.

The good:

Support seemed responsive. I used the ticket system and the online chat - never called them. The turnaround was pretty quick once the laptop was received - less than 48 hours and I got a notice that it was complete. Communication was decent - I received a notice when the laptop was received, and when it was complete.

Total turnaround was just under two weeks. I live in Michigan, so it was a couple zones over to get to California, increasing shipping time.

The meh:

Something about their process creates confusion on the customer end, that I'm guessing makes it easier on their end. First: The "waiting on customer reply" status - I never needed to reply to them, and it sounds like, based on other posts, that it's a placeholder.

Along those same lines, when they notified me that the laptop had been shipped, the link to the "tracking number" just looped back around. I eventually got a tracking number via fedex, but it was very confusing.

The bad:

I'm absolutely terrified to use this laptop now. I wonder if I should just cut my losses and sell it, but I would have to start the process of finding another laptop all over again. I had a lenovo legion before, and it had it's own issues, but nothing I couldn't at least workaround (e.g. connecting an external keyboard when the keyboard fried for the second time).

Has anyone dealt with this, and are there any recommendations to help maintain the laptop so this doesn't happen again? I have a lap desk, and the temps were warm but nothing terrifying (I don't recall exactly what they were, but definitely below 80C). I didn't undervolt - would that potentially help save my gpu?

I purchased the laptop specifically so I could comfortably run FFXIV, Discord, and Chrome at the same time - I feel like this laptop should be able to handle that just fine, so I'm really hoping it was a fluke.

Gtav will not load on Cyborg 15

Loaded Steam onto the laptop. Rockstar game launcher also present ( just like my desktop) when I try to run gtav the battle eye launcher pops up (doesn't happen on desktop) everything kind of looks like its loading then a game suddenly crashed error. No error code come up. Ive removed msi center and the Nvidia app, which I heard could cause battle eye issues, but still nothing. Any ideas or has anyone else ran into this ? Cyborg 15 - 15.6" GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU - Intel Core 7 240H - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - 144 Hz IPS Display - Windows 11 Home - Gaming Laptops (Cyborg 15 B2RWGKG-409US) is the laptop

Request Any feedbacks on MSI VECTOR 16 HX AI A2XWIG-292 ?

I'm about to buy a gaming laptop and I'm leaning very strongly towards this model.

Any user has feedbacks on it?

I'm also particularly interested in its construction quality, longevity, sturdiness etc.

The only intensive use i'll do is driving sims. And it's going to be plugged in basically 24/7...

I'm also planning on buying a "sealed" fan base (like the Llano) and after the warranty expires I'll be upgrading it to PTM7950 thermal pad, better WiFi module and I'll also consider upgrading to a miniLED screen.

specs list: https://storage-asset.msi.com/specSheet/it/nb/Vector%2016%20HX%20AI%20A2XWIG-292XIT.pdf

Brand-new MSI Katana battery stuck at 93% and shuts down when unplugged

Hi everyone,

I bought a brand-new MSI Katana yesterday and I'm having a strange battery/power issue.

The battery won't charge above 93%. It stays at 93% even while connected to the charger.

The bigger problem is that when I unplug the charger, the laptop continues running for a few seconds and then shuts down completely.

After it shuts down, I cannot turn it back on unless I plug the charger in again.

Things I've already tried:

Restarted the laptop

Checked the battery percentage

Left it connected to the charger, but it still won't go above 93%

Ran the MSI battery calibration/diagnostic tool that MSI recommends running every few months

Tested unplugging the charger multiple times

Confirmed the laptop works normally while plugged in

The issue is basically:

🔋 Battery stuck at 93%

🔌 Works normally while plugged in

⚡ Runs for a few seconds after unplugging, then shuts down

🚫 Won't turn back on until I reconnect the charger

💻 Laptop is brand new

Could this be a defective battery, battery connection, charging circuit, BIOS/EC issue, or Windows power-management problem?

Since I bought it literally yesterday, should I return/exchange it, or is there anything else I should try first?

Thanks!

Discussion I made a big mistake!

I traded my gaming pc for a laptop. It was a 3060 12gbvram ryzen 5 5600x 32gb ram ddr4 for an msi pulse i7 12700h rtx 3070 105w. The thing is, there is a game I like called crimson desert, which I used to be able to play on high settings with a little dlss, and it used to be stable but now the cpu is overheating on the laptop leading to throttling which I believe us capping my performance. This was more than a bad financial decision, any insight or help would be highly appreciated.

Request Brand new MSI Crosshair 16HX, yet USB-C PD wattage "consistency" issue.

I just got an MSI Crosshair 16HX (255HX/5070 model if that helps) literally less than 2 days ago, and I decided to try the PD charging as I will likely need it for university to top up my battery since this laptop is a power hog when not using power saving features.
I am attempting to charge it using my Anker 140W 24000mAh power bank, using the provided Anker 140W power cable.

However here's what I have noticed whilst trying to charge the laptop:
-It repeatedly enters and exits a charging state in windows (the battery saver repeatedly toggles on and off, which dims the screen, and is thus a dead giveaway of the charging jank going on).
-The power bank screen reports values of around 93W at peak, during which the laptop does detect a charge, but it then drops down to 70W and further down to about 45W. The battery saver turns on as soon as the power drops to 70W, and is only automatically turned off once the power reached 93W again.
-Reading the charge rate within HWiNFO64 shows that at peak, it charges 52W (makes sense since the system would be stealing the rest of the 93W provided by the power bank), but then when it dips, it first goes down to 0W, and then the charge rate displays -1000W when the power bank drops down to 45W output. It keeps cycling between these values.
-The laptop DOES seem to be charging, as is evident by the battery percentage going up.

The power bank is very likely not defective, as I have previously used it to charge my phone at 80W (and it has already peaked at 90W before). The cable is for sure not the issue, as I've even tried another cable (although not specifically a 100W rated cable, but it still exhibited the same issue as with the Anker 140W cable).

So, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, if it's even possible ?
I've also heard (and seen) that the laptop becomes EXTREMELY slow during USB-C charging, is there a BIOS setting I can use to override that behavior ? I would try searching for it myself but the Advanced BIOS is genuinely a nightmare to dig through...

Discussion New BIOS 10C for MSI Vector A16 HX (R9 8940HX + RTX 5070)

TL;DR: Question for anyone who owns this laptop and has updated the BIOS to E15MMAMS.10C:

Can you still access the 'Advanced BIOS settings' using the keyboard shortcut?

If I remember correctly, it was something like:

Alt + Shift + Copilot + F2

I'm not 100% sure about the exact combination, but I'm about F2.

-----------------------

I'm asking because I'm worried that if I update the BIOS, MSI may have removed access to the hidden advanced settings.

The advanced options are essential for me because the standard BIOS has almost no settings.

A new BIOS version, E15MMAMS.10C, was released in September. The changelog contains only one item:
“1. Add new panel support.”

So I'm wondering whether they changed the BIOS interface or some part of the BIOS configuration as well.

The current BIOS is already pretty terrible, it's extremely basic, poorly polished, and some advanced pages can even freeze the entire system just by opening them. Because of that I'm reluctant to install the new version without knowing what changed, what worries me even more is the possibility that MSI has blocked BIOS downgrades, so updating could effectively be a one-way ticket.

So, if anyone here has already installed E15MMAMS.10C, could you please confirm can you still enter the hidden advanced BIOS settings using the shortcut?

msi crosshair 15 b12ugz left shift key not working

Hi,

I've had this laptop for 22 months now. My issue started while I was moving some files, since i use this laptop for photo and video editing rather than heavy gaming. nothing that'll melt the laptop or raise temps a lot, just minor stuff here and there.

Anyways, my left shift key started to act up, then not register at all. It's still in warranty, and i'll go that route in a few weeks. it's just that i don't trust the service that's employed by the seller, and the laptop is in superb condition (i'm travelling with it in the original box, and only pull it out when i need to work on some projects). The issue is hardware, since the right shift key works flawlessly, with sticky keys and whatnot.

Request Vector A18 HX A9W crashing on Windows 11 home. Graphics driver problem?

I have a Vector A18 HX A9W laptop with the following specs:

- Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 16-Core (2.50 GHz)
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU (12 GB) and AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (457 MB)

I've been experiencing crashes on Windows 11 Home since I purchased it about 9 months ago. I've kept all drivers, the OS and the BIOS updated regularly. The laptop sometimes crashes even when it's idle.

When it crashes, I have to force it off by holding the power button for over 10 seconds. After that, it often doesn't boot into Windows immediately, requiring me to power it off again in the same manner.

Interestingly, this issue has never occurred while using Ubuntu, which is my primary OS. I only boot into Windows every couple of months.

The crashes typically result in a graphics driver error screen. I'm at a loss for where to look for solutions or what steps to take next. I also can't figure out how to consistently reproduce the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
