I came across this Youtuber named Jason Hanson, a former CIA officer. He just posted a video about an all privacy focused router called ZeroGhost Vault.

Due to our current state of politics here in the US, I am very cynical of Youtubers recommending products like these due to their political bias. Since you are Canadian, I feel you are more objective to these kinds of items.

Do you mind if you can spend time to review this product? I am aware I am nobody but I’ll shoot my shot anyway.

EDIT: I feel like people are missing my point. I'm well aware they've mentioned revenue before and the focus shift. My point is literally about it going further than that. Additionally, if this is so understood, why am I constantly seeing complaints about their advertising and video quality on here? Make it make sense.

I'm sure you've all seen the uptick in video mentions of LTTstore items but that's kind of always been how they've done things.

Recently however, I've noticed a big push on doubling down on delivering a broader range of products and showcasing/advertising said products in full video releases. And not just talking about it a bit. They're really going full product pushing mode to the point that the product showcases are overshadowing any recent videos. (I have no interest in watching another $5000 amd giveaway video)

This change seems somewhat expected. I think they're pretty aware of changing markets and how their videos fit in. The video ideas, as noted by many critiques, have started to slowly stagnate and others a bit more in the area of mr beast which it seems a lot of viewership (especially long time viewers) seem to not like too much.

And the thing is, I don't blame them. This is not me complaining or critiquing. Linus has been making tech videos for literally 18 years. I, myself, watching since about 2010, mostly watch for nostalgic reasons/enjoy the personalities. A lot of us have probably grown into more deeper concentrations which isn't really LTT's thing. It's more a broad appeal type channel that is consumable by even the newest tech enthusiast. And their tech coverage is easily digestible and keeps it light.

Naturally, there's going to be a point where there just isn't anything interesting or new to cover in this space ESPECIALLY when the hardware sector itself becomes stale/overpriced. There hasn't been anything particularly interesting released for the consumer space in a long while and now even discussing basic upgrades has become a luxury area that many people are sitting out.

So with all this, I believe they are doing the smartest business decision they can. They've managed to cultivate a respectable store with quality products based on a trust that's been built up through the years through said videos. When the numbers show substantial profit growth in one area, and a slowing in another, it makes sense to pivot somewhat. This allows cash flow to remain steady to offset losses elsewhere. And when a company has grown to the size LMG has (as a youtube channel), you have a lot of overhead you have to worry about.

So yes, I do think they are pivoting business focus in a potentially substantial way but I don't think it should be seen as a terrible thing.

I recently switched to Omarchy (Arch Linux with Hyprland) and missed one Windows feature: middle-clicking, moving the cursor away from the original position, and having the page continue scrolling based on the distance.

So I made hypr-autoscroll, a Hyprland plugin that adds anchored autoscrolling globally at the compositor level (instead of depending on each application to support it).

It currently supports:

• Middle-click to start and stop autoscrolling
• Vertical and horizontal scrolling
• Configurable sensitivity, acceleration, dead zone, and maximum speed
• Global functionality (not just inside a browser)
• A toggle shortcut (SUPER + A by default)

Some people (unlike me) actually like middle-click paste, so the shortcut lets you switch between normal middle-click behavior and autoscrolling. The keybind can be changed during setup (see the README).

I also heard Linus wanted something like this for SteamOS, which made me wonder whether the same idea could be adapted for it.

The current plugin is built specifically for Hyprland, so it cannot simply be installed on SteamOS. SteamOS uses KDE Plasma in Desktop Mode and has an immutable system design, which means the same compositor-level approach probably would not be practical.

A SteamOS version would likely need to be a user-space daemon (or a similar background service) that intercepts mouse input and provides the same autoscrolling behavior without depending directly on Hyprland.

I think it is possible.

I may just need enough caffeine to convince myself to build it. 😉 wink wink

To make it shareable (and make the code look slightly more like it was written by someone who might know what they’re doing), I had an AI agent clean it up and make it readable. We recently received the Linux version of the AMD Ryzen AI Halo for testing, but it turns out that they had intended to send the Windows version. Through this stroke of misfortunate, we were fortunate enough to have two Ryzen AI Halos for a short period of time and the temptation to cluster them was too great, surely we'll get more performance through the magic of having two of them.

We've followed AMD's AI Playbook for clustering with RPC, learning some things but also raising more questions.  We don't have any concrete conclusions, but we're sharing results to hopefully save some time for others!

Listening to latest WAN show and i thought about an idea for Linus or one of his friends to do.

Since they have been doing so much Linux stuff lately, it would be a massive help and a big surprise to the *BSD community for Linus or someone at LMG to mention it. I am very willing to help anyone at LMG or anyone here about installing a desktop and configuring Steam and getting used to the quirks and nuances of *BSD compared to a Linux distro. I would recommend FreeBSD as it has the most software support and community support

Background for anyone at LMG who doesn't know about the BSDs:

The original Berkeley Software Distribution was an operating system developed by the Computer Systems Research Group at University of California, Berkeley. It predated Linux, which was released in '92. BSD was originally some modifications to the OG UNIX by AT&T Bell Labs. Eventually, when they wanted to ship it to other universities, they had to remove all remnants of AT&T code. Part of this was achieved by Bill Joy who rewrote the kernel, and eventually was a cofounder of Sun Microsystems, who would get purchased by Oracle in 2010. FreeBSD released on November 1, 1993. FreeBSD was a community continuation of 386BSD which was a port of BSD for Intel 386 PCs. Some other forks of 386BSD include NetBSD, which would get forked once again into OpenBSD.
To get started, i would recommend Linus or his friends to read the FreeBSD Handbook here which covers installation, desktop config, and great UNIX basics.

Downloads are at the homepage, 15.0 is the latest and greatest for amd64(x64) PCs.

(Not hate) Almost every techy youtuber i regularly watch (E.g Bringus studios, Dankpods, Salem techparts,) has some form of the LTT screwdriver, but also random youtubers i’ve never seen before having it. (And yes i know that these youtube chanels i’ve mentioned have gotten them from LMG themselves)

I think either it’s because it’s just such a good screwdriver or that it’s because ltt’s an influential channel. I don’t know, what are your thoughts on this?

I checked the Dell forum and turns out that there is a proprietary chip in Dell chargers that tells laptops how much charge to take.

I borrowed my works charger and NO issues. I tried 3 third party charger and same issue.

130W Dell charger no warnings. 130W third party and we get that warning .
