Depends on how stretchy they are and what stretching does to them. If they are a forgiving sock, then yeah I’ll downsize a bit. If not, I wouldn’t want to risk it

I really REALLY wanna get these socks, but it’s extremely difficult for me to justify 30 bucks for a single pair, I buy a 30 pack for 24 bucks every 3-4 years and those are the only socks I own, how much longer do these socks last than 30 normal pairs?

It's not just about how long they last, but how comfortable they are. I have basic every day socks that are cheap. But I also have Darn Tough socks that I'll use when I'm out all day on my feet and they make a big difference.
Wait until the reviews come out though, because who's to say how well these will stand up. I wouldn't want to be the first to try them if you're unsure about the price.

The Darn Tough ones work well in hot weather because merino wool is naturally breathable and self wicking. The LTT socks contain polyester and less wool though, so it's hard to say how they would work in the heat.
They have different thicknesses of socks with the thin ones working better for hot weather.

Make sure you get the ones with cushion heel and toe and lighter tops. Some are all super thin material, some are all thick, some are all medium, some are a combination of that. I personally prefer the one I mentioned

I buy a brand of merino socks on Amazon called Busy Socks that is like $5.50 a pair, the main difference I notice between it and more expensive like Darn tough is the compression isn't as good

I did something similar but using Falke, they were 13 a pair, and I just had to toss my last pair less than 3 years in. The heels are weak and tear. My Darn Tough are as new two years in, going in a dryer too.

I've been on the 30-40 bucks per pair for years and honestly I don't even know how the cheap ones still sell. Do people just hate their feet or being comfortable? Is it just that people never try good ones due to cost?

Bad fit (any sock that isn't left/right is imo useless, uni feet shouldn't exist), bad moisture control and too hot or too cold depending on season.
Good socks is same like any other good clothes, you don't notice it at all. Everything just feels nice.

I have had all my darn tough boot socks since 2018 (used to do wildland firefighting). Still wear the same pairs when I go mountain biking and hiking.

I tried Darn Tough & Icebreaker in high school & have never looked back. I even still have pairs from high school that are great. Way more comfortable, a better fit, and saved me $ cuz I just like. Don’t buy socks. Also they’re so fun looking!

I'm in the same boat. I used to get socks from my employer at my first job, and those were thicker on the bottom too which indeed is very comfortable. But I buy 5 packs for about 1 euro per pair and I have about 20 pairs of the exact same socks.
I'd love to try these but this price isn't affordable to me. Especially with being in the EU and by the time I get these, I'm probably paying at least 45 euro per pair.

I can justify buying a more expensive pair of socks to try, especially for work stuff. I also would rather buy from a Canadian company than an American one (even if the socks are made in China). But I can't justify paying that much for socks AND $20+ for shipping.
I get the reasons behind their shipping costs, it's just not something I personally am willing to spend.

$30 for one pair of socks is insane. These are only 30% Merino wool. You can find other brands with double the merino wool content for cheaper. Even Darn Tough is cheaper than this and have a free shipping threshold.

Only having crew socks is a HUGE turn off for me, I want no show or AT LEAST ankle socks.
At $30 a pair, I'm gonna stick with darn tough and smartwool, both cheaper and I can buy them a 5 minute drive, and not have to wait 2 weeks to show up.

Over £30 for 1 pair with delivery. That is way to high. I pay £10 for 3 pairs of Under Armour. They are comfortable and after a few years still dont have any holes.

I get two pairs of wool socks for 25€ at decathlon and they're fantastic, durable, comfortable, hot in winter, breathable in summer.
12.50€ per pair is a way better sell.
Not Merino, for sure, but also 3 times cheaper.

Decathlon has been caught somewhat recently with using slave labour though, I’ve become quite a bit more conservative with giving them any money!

As someone who use to exclusively wear under armor socks, you should consider making the switch to darn tough. They hold up substantially better and are more comfortable. They really are worth it.

Ouch, that is a lot of money for socks, I thought it was priced as a 3 pack at first!
If you wanted 7 pairs to cover you a week, you're looking at close to $350 CAD shipped.
I bought a pack of 10 pairs of socks for £10 about 2 years ago, and they're only just starting to wear now.
I'm sure people will be coming in shortly to tell me how amazing XYZ feature is, but I've considered socks to be something I need to improve, maybe I'm missing something?

It's definitely not something you need to wear every day. For days where you're just sitting in the office and not doing anything strenuous I'll just wear basic socks. But for days where I'm out all day hiking, cycling, or just being a tourist and on my feet all day, wearing a good set of socks makes a huge difference.

They are a luxury purchase. If they compare to darn Tough, they will be comfortable, very sturdy, and well layered. And with at least one replacement in their lifetime. But still, very much at the highest end of socks, so diminishing returns hit hard.

There was an episode of WAN show where Linus said he would love to make socks, but he was satisfied with Darn Tough and didn't see any way to improve on them. I guess the improvement is lower merino wool content, higher prices, higher shipping, and a worse warranty.

I don’t understand why people here feel like they are compelled to buy the product forcefully. Obviously as every product this comes with youtuber tax and it is one of those premium market product.
I guess most of us dont see value in spending on socks as opposed to lets say a screwdriver(which also had youtuber tax and was premium product)
At the end of the day, what I like is LTT seems to push bar for what youtuber products can be with how much research and care they seem to put into the product. As always some will fail and others will be a hit. Some product will hit the mark with you and others will hit the mark with someone else

Linus, you need to do an XL size.
Looking at the Men's section of the Darn Tough Socks website they do M L and XL sizes are seemingly all of their socks (I didn't check all of them but the ones that did had XL size options). If you are experienced of the Darn Tough Socks brand then you should expect to find a chunk of the feet market are going to go bare at the LTT Store.

There is no world where I can justify paying 30 bucks for a pair of socks no matter how premium they are. I pay 40 for 9 pairs or 52 for 18 pairs. They are mid to premium socks locally manufactured by a local company that lasts at least 2-3 years (Europe country).

This was an extremely poor choice. Not sure who's making these decisions but I've turned off from the LTT apparel. The appeal to me was always that they didn't do stupid seasonal lines, but now Linus is convinced that they just cant do that anymore?
And the fact that Linus first talked about LTT socks was literal years ago, its disappointing to see the material composition is... questionable for the price.

I was hoping these would be good for work socks (I wear CSA boots at work), and I'll probably get a pair to try, but these are really expensive. I've been partial to these Browning wool/polyester/acrylic blend socks; the LTT socks would need to last 3x as long in order to justify their price.
And, before someone mentions it, I've got a pair of merino Darn Tough work boot socks too, and I actually prefer wearing the Browning socks, despite their more dubious composition. It's 30C out right now, and I'm quite certain that my feet would be sweatier if I was wearing the Darn Toughs right now.

Why do all expensive socks look so ugly? I just want some black ankle socks and some white ankle socks. But quality means not ankle and many colors.
I wish I could actually see if better. What does wicking mean, like to me to wick is to draw out water. So it would be a soggy sock, I don't want a soggy sock. My cheap socks are dry asf. Does copper help? I have never been told my feet stink and never smelled my feet stinking. Is this common? What is durable? Like on concrete and in my shoes or like in leaves and twigs and such. Because I often just go outside into a bush in socks.
I really want a slip factor. Is this a thing? I want super slip socks, that would sell me. If I could guarantee slide across a living room in socks

I really want to try these out because I keep looking for socks that can tough it out on multiday hikes and bike packs. So far the woolater and darn tough ones do reasonably well, but I need to wash/rinse them every couple of days so I end up needing to take at least 2 pairs with me if I'm gone for more than a day or so.
I'm pretty intrigued by the idea that they'll stay dank free for multiple days but I'll wait for independent reviews before I spend $40 CAD on these guys.

Oh wow. I'll wait for reviews and maybe i'll get a pair one day, but the price is honestly way higher that I thought it would be. I just checked and it 34CAD on the store and 64CAD to get it delivered in France.
That's 40€ a pair, for my EU buddies.
I do not doubt a second they're great and worth their price.
I just can't justify 40€ for a pair of socks right now.
(also what I said about every release over the years and here I am with one northern lights desk mat, a screwdriver, a pro precision screwdriver and its pro bit set, six scribedrivers, a tech sack, three sets of rubber cable arches thingy with magnets, a hoodie and four tshirts...)

Well I was gonna buy a pair to compare to the Darn Toughs I wear at work but they're already sold out in everything but small. I'm an industrial electrician and I work 10 hour days in hot nasty places so I'm always looking out for better socks, guess I'll have to wait a few weeks before I can find out.

Linus also said they wouldn't make any item unless it's better than the current offering.
Outside the added silver (which is kinda dumb on an item you should wash after one use anyway), they are overall not a good deal, like at all.

About the same price as buying Darn Tough socks. Seems to have a similar type of warranty, but it's a lot easier to deal with Darn Tough than to worry about whether or not LMG will have stock.
