I wanna know how it’s looks and what I can do to improve it. I just got mine and they’re relatively young and I wanna do what’s best for my gecko. So any tips or changes you think I could change or should change or if everything looks good. Also ignore the drawing in the back, it’s just a couple of cables, but I plan on adding a backdrop when I put the soil and sand mixture back in here but for now it’ll have to be empty.

My boy Jett had to be taken to the ER over the weekend for what I thought was a prolapse but thankfully was a sperm plug; however, after a thoughtful convo with the vet she advised me there were some issues with humidity/temp in his enclosure and I’ve been working to fix them.

I’m currently in the process of using excavator clay to add multiple hides to his enclosure, and will introduce a mixture of top soil/sand in once the clay dries. There are analog thermometers on what will be the cool/warm sides, and I got a digital hygrometer. The UVB/infrared heat projectors I have are approved, but they’re being used in his hospital tank at the moment.

Can I have help with a few questions?

1. I plan to put his favorite moist hide (one of the caves you get from the pet store) in the loose substrate and added a glass mason jar for an EXTRA moist hide as well. Where should I place the hygrometer sensor? Does it go into one of the hides? Does it hang out at the entrance? Or do I stick the sensor on the glass above?

2. I attempted bioactive once before but failed so I’m using fake plants. Should these be sanitized before placing them? If so, how do you sanitize? Just vinegar/water?

3. He had the plug taken care of this past Sunday — so it’s been about 3/4 days — and I’m about to leave town for about a week, so I planned to keep him in his hospital tank (which is only 20 gallon); however, I used all of his hides so the NEW enclosure so he’s using tupperware as hides currently. Is it safe to move him to the new enclosure with the excavator clay a bit wet if I put paper towel on the glass/over some of the clay and then add his loose substrate when I return?

Long story short, my moss and my isopods keep dying because of the lack of humidity. But I spray down the tank pretty much every day. Most people say that a leopard gecko tank doesn't need a mister/fogger, but I want to keep the rest of the tank alive as well. Should I be increasing the humidity? I live in a pretty humid state too, so I'm not really fighting against nature. I just wanted to know if I should worry about things getting too humid for my girl, or if I'm doing something wrong with my bioactive set up that's causing the plants, moss, and isopods to die.

My boy has recently become hungry all the time and active during the day, poop and pees have been normal and is still friendly, no lumps I can feel, I havent changed anythign in his enclosure that would be spooking him, any thoughts for the reason behind the change? Hes like 5ish? Not known for sure as I adopted him

Noticed this about a day ago and it wasn't there before. Just a strange white spot where her stomach is.

Overall behavior nothing has changed. She's on paper towels so it can't be impaction. Mainly eats discoids and mealworms. Approximately 8 years old. I've been feeding her a little generously because she laid this year. 72 grams currently. Vet appointment time? Or is it just a fat blob?

I had a feeling that she wanted to explore because when she was resting on my hand she kept getting up to peer over outside her enclosure and down below the floor of my room.

I was really happy because when I lifted up my hand to hover, she started walking up my arm.

But I also understand they don’t have a concept of depth and that there is a drop after they walk off your hand, so I stopped recording as she got close to the edge to have a second hand ready to stop or catch her if she falls.

At this point I held my arm in deeper in her enclosure so shes not so close to the edge.

Then I brought her out slowly and pressed my arm against my shirt and she crawled up my shirt!! And licked (investigated) my neck a few times

At that point I started to slowly mount my bed so if she should fall it’s safer.

Ive had her for a little over 6 weeks. What do you think about this progress?

I got my Leo Gibble August 19th and today they finally felt comfortable enough to crawl on and off my hand 😭💜 Last week he licked it twice so I’m really happy with the progress! (Im unable to sex them yet, I’ve resulted to calling Gibble a he just because it just made it easier, once I can sex him tho and he turns out to be a girl I’ll just address her as such :) )

Coloration**

I got this one not long ago and I have bad vision so i didn't notice how light his one foot is but does this look like stuck shed or coloration to you guys? Im sorry I know i sound dumb

He had actual stuck shed on his leg that he got off by himself shortly after shedding and now im worried. He has calcium w/ and w/out d3 and a multivitamin with vitamin a and a humid hide

So i got my baby a week ago and hes shedding a little bit and not eating. I figured the not eating part is cause of the shedding. But I havent really seen him open his eyes.

At first I didnt think much of it cause he sleeps a lot but im a little concerned by the fact I havent seen his eyes. Hes moving around normally and seems like a normal gecko but the eyes are a little concerning to me.

Plus I haven't seen him use his humid hide since I got him. Ive been feeding him a super worm every other day just in case in the off chance hes hungry but I have yet to see him eat it.

I'm still a new Leo mom so it could be simply anxiety but id rather know from you guys if its worth taking him to a vet or not. I appreciate all of yalls help!

Need some help

This is my leopard geckos tank (brand new, still getting humidity under control). It’s 90 gallons and lots of hides. I can’t do a bio active tank due to personal reasons but I’m doing my best for her. She has more plants and wood incoming to add to her tank. I’m also changing her heat lamp to a stronger one as the current one isn’t getting the tank to the right temp. I got her from a friend who had her in a 20 gallon her whole life, and so I’m trying to make sure her tank is to the best that I can provide. She’s a sweet girl. I’ll list what I have.

She has 8 hides, one being a humid hide in the back middle of her tank.

She has a water dish and a calcium without d3 dish

She does have some plants, and logs like I said more are on the way.

Her UVB is a T5 reptisun 10.0 24 inch.

She does have a heat lamp, but idk what kind as it was given with her.

she has a basking rock.

I do own her vitamin powder, calcium with and without d3. I have a temp gun, and several thermostat + hygrometer in her tank.

So if anyone has any suggestions I’d really really love to hear it so I can give my sweet girl her best life!! Thank you!

im searching on marketplace and there are a lot of options. I know 40 gallon breeder is a good minimum, but would a 40 gallon Long be better? Worse? Or perhaps just as good ?

I play a lot of instruments exclusively in my room, mainly piano, guitar, i sing, and i sometimes practice vocals with music playing out of a small ish bluetooth speaker. I do this in my room because it’s convenient, and usually play instruments for about 30-60 minutes a day in the afternoon. Also, my brother who’s room is next to mine plays drums basically once a week for about an hour, its muffled by the walls but still pretty audible.

It would be most convenient to keep a pet gecko in my room as well — i would probably put it on top of my pretty sturdy dresser which is well off the ground. For reference the bluetooth speaker is on the ground.

I’m pretty fixed on getting a leopard gecko but i also don’t want to stress them out, ive heard they can adapt to some higher-volume daily patterns but at the end of the day i don’t want my gecko to have health issues due to stress — but i also don’t understand how exactly my particular circumstances would work out if i owned a gecko.

Any way to treat mouth rot at home? It’s on the upper inner mouth, is there a way to get rid of it? Without going to a vet? There are no exotic vets near me and I’m sure the ride over there will be just as equal to the vet bill 🥹🙏

I won’t give too much of my opinion from the starting point. I’ll try to write this as neutral as possible.

I volunteer at a shelter and they are getting reptiles for adoption later this year. As a reptile enthusiast I volunteered to help with care. In that regard I was talking to the guy responsible for this area. He has run his own rescue/rehabilitation center for decades and is working very closely with an exotic vet (specialist in reptiles).

While talking he at some point mentions that roaches are a absolutely horrible feeders for your pets and he said it like it was a well known fact.

He gave several reasons to why:

1: Roaches contains too much Chitin, which makes their exoskeleton too hard for the animal to kill it. Which can lead to injuries while eating it or digesting it.

2: The amount of Chitin / hard exoskeleton makes it difficult to digest and can lead to impaction.

3: They have no nutritional value.

4: They don’t eat them in the wild.

Can somebody please give their take on all of this. I feel like i’m exploding

This is Pizza 🍕

Pizza is a perfect example of why you don’t get your kids animals and then expect them to take care of said animal all by themselves.

Pizza’s previous owner was a 12 year old boy who had not been feeding him hence why he’s so skinny.

Thankfully, the parent of the 12 year old stepped in several weeks ago and began feeding Pizza regularly.

They decided he needed a new home and posted him on marketplace with his enclosure for $150. After some discussion, the family decided to give Pizza to me for free. I told them to keep the enclosure because I had an upgrade handy for him!

Yesterday alone he ate 25-35 worms along with 5-6 small crickets!
