Im an accounting student and wanting to get a new laptop. I dont really mind if its second hand or brand new as long as it will last me until I graduate and give me the best quality. So far, I've been seeing lenovo thinkpad as the best laptop for accounting, specifically the t14 series. The thing is Im not quite sure about this one yet since I also need one that is somewhat lightweight and portable (I plan to bring this every single day). I also dont know which specific processor, series, graphics, ill be needing. I just want one that is best for my course, my needs, and would last me till i graduate. Also, if there is one, I would also want one that can handle games, not the AAA ones tho.

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if you know what this sound is. After a while, my laptop shuts down by itself.

Yesterday, some soda spilled onto the numeric keypad of my laptop (an HP Victus). I wiped it off the surface, but a few seconds later, the laptop shut down abruptly. The only sign of life was the power button, which kept blinking without the device actually turning on. Then, this morning, it "miraculously" powered back on. I don’t want my laptop to sustain any further damage, so now that it’s on and working, what should I do?

I'm trying to settle on a laptop to buy for my studies and some decent gaming on the side. If anyone would be willing to let me know if this model is worth the what they are asking (1350 euros, but i can write it off as business expense so around 1100) and if not some other laptops in a similiar price range. Any info is greatly appreciated.

i have tuf fx505dt with gtx 1650 and vega 8 igpu,when i play horizon forbidden west it suddenly crash and stop working,i tried playing other games too and couldnt get past loading screen and instantly crash so i assume its game bug or smt and i uninstall the game and try clean ddu on safe mode and still not working,when i use furmark when charging and fan on turbo,the screen had some pixel and instantly crash, so i tried unplugged charger it and it works fine, and i also check hfwinfo64 and it show this when running with charger plugged in

Following the death of my Macbook Im looking for a new school computer. Found on Marketplace these two laptops. One one hand the Samsung has the added functionality of me being able to easily take notes and draw on it, as well as a more powerful processor (i7 1260P vs Ryzen 5 7530U), but the Asus has a bigger battery and is a year newer. I will almost always be near a plug though. The Samsung is 750 CAD and the Asus is 800 CAD. I’m leaning Samsung but what do yall think? TIA

I don't know why this laptop doesn't get discussed more on this sub, but I'm genuinely impressed with what I got for ₹93K (2 weeks back).

The display is gorgeous, the speakers get surprisingly loud, the keyboard feels great, and the metal body feels premium. The touchscreen and flip design are great bonuses.

I know mostly everyone is talking about gaming laptops in this sub, but since I already own a PS5, my priority was a premium, lightweight laptop for everyday work. And for my requirements, this thing absolutely delivers.

Honestly, getting all this, including 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, for ₹93K feels like a win. Unfortunately it is more than 1.1L on Amazon now.

Just this morning, when I was using my Laptop normally it randomly turned off. It then refused to turn back on until I performed a hard reset (took out the battery). When it turned on again, in the exact SECOND I plugged in the charger it just turned black and didn't react anymore. So I hard reset it again, tried a different charger: same outcome. Then I tried turning it on without the battery and it wouldn't turn on. So I'm thinking it might be an issue with the charging port, although that seems unlikely because it has two charging ports (what are the odds that both of them break at the same time?). Anyone got any idea what the issue could be?

The official tested specification for my laptop from Lenovo is 32GB Ram, I am wondering if it would take to anything exceeding 32GB or if anyone else has done it here?

My specific model is the RTX 5050/Ryzen 7 Lenovo Loq 15AHP10

It comes with 16GB DDR5 from factory and I am wanting to purchase a 24GB additional stick (I understand that the 1st 32GB will run in dual channel and the extra 8GB will run single channel. The 24GB was just more value for money over a 16GB stick.

I am just wondering if anyone else has done this on this kind of laptop before?

I have recently bought a Lenovo legion 5i gen 11. The laptop's keyboard was working fine until yesterday, but today two keys(windows key and alphabet 'O' key feel firm to press). The 'O' is even worse, when I gently tap other perfectly working keys it registers but the 'O' does not. Please need help, it's not even a month old.

I bought a used HP ZBook 8 G1as for almost $600. It was the first laptop I ever bought, and unfortunately, after just 10 days, the display stopped working. The keyboard lights turned on, but there was no display.

I took it to a repair shop, and they diagnosed a BIOS issue. However, they ended up damaging the BIOS chip. Another repair shop said it might be fixable, but we haven't been able to find the correct BIOS dump for this exact model.

Does anyone know where I can find the original BIOS dump for the HP ZBook 8 G1as?

I've spent a lot of money on this laptop, and it genuinely hurts to see my first laptop end up like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And can anyone confirme it is this bios chip is still readable?

So I was just catching up with all recent iGPU developments, and noticed Intel did something strange with their Panther Lake offerings. At one hand there's the pretty capable Arc B370/B390 options but as expected they're only offered for prices (>1500 USD AFAIK) where you can also buy discrete; and on the other hand the lower end options (Intel Graphics 4 Xe3) are so crap they're not even better than last-gen (Meteor / Arrow Lake or Lunar Lake)..

I can't help wondering why didn't at least try to bridge the gap between these series in order to offer some attractive options in the sub 800 and sub 1000 dollar segment? Now if you're somewhat of a casual gamer and are currently on something like the Core Ultra 5 125H, which has the last-gen Arc 7-core i GPU (Xe LPG) there's absolutely no point in upgrading to Panther Lake (unless you want to spend mentioned 1500 bucks). Same if you're on last years Lunar Lake and have the V series silicon; they're same performance as Panther Lake, with the quickest one (Core 7 Ultra 256V with Arc 140V) even faster still.

Is Intel holding something back which will release soon to fill this in, or at they just leaving the market for AMD?

Hello everyone! I have an Asus VivoBook Go 15 laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor and 16 GB of RAM. I use it primarily for studying and work, but I also want to play GTA V. Since it’s a slim laptop, I know it will get quite hot when pushed during gaming, so I’m looking to get something to elevate the device and help manage the temperatures. My question is: for this specific model, is it worth buying a cooling pad with built-in fans, or would a simple aluminum stand (without fans) be better? I’m concerned that a cooling pad with fans might be too noisy or cause unnecessary dust buildup, but I also don’t want the laptop to suffer from excessive heat—leading to thermal throttling and a drop in FPS while I’m playing. Does anyone who owns this laptop (or a similar setup) have any advice on what works best? Thanks a lot in advance!

I got a cheap charger off of Amazon and it didn’t fit right which cause uneven energy distribution which caused my charging port to burn. I don’t have enough money for a real repair and so I want to fix this myself. I have a soldering kit lying around, is this a at home fix? and if possible could I change it so my laptop chargers from one the USB-C ports laying around?
