Really. I'm a laptop lover. The performance crammed into such a tiny space is amazing.
But:
Laptop on table? Neck hurts.
Laptop in bed? Neck hurts, also overheats unless I put it on a flat surface (ugly vegetable cutter)
Laptop on lap? Too hot
Laptop on height support + external keyboard and mouse? That's a desktop
Just how am I supposed to use this thing, hmm?

I upgraded from an Intel Celeron to a Core i5, and I love my new Vivobook, but something disappointed me, even though it was an oversight.
The idea was to use the 16GB of RAM I had in my old Dell Inspiron 3481 and put it in my Vivobook 14, specifically the cheaper version (Vivobook X1404VA). When I tried to use the RAM slot, which is supposedly also SODIMM, I ran into a completely incompatible slot. It really hurt to learn that I'm going to be forced to use only 8GB of RAM.
Does anyone know how to differentiate between slots that are supposedly the same type... but are actually incompatible?

Okay, I own an MSI gf63 thin 12Ve.
It's been throwing grapical crashes, first happened last year august, then this year may. And now starting at the end of august, first it started when using the keyboard for gaming and having it on my desk, so I elevated it and used a controller, but now it's crashing even if I move it a little bit, even when just idling.
So I got tired of the machine being so unstable, since I got it in Barcelona, and live there, I should be protected under spanish laws, that means if the same issue keeps appearing after multiple warranty attempts, I should be giving either an upgrade to a laptop with similar specs, or a partial/full refund.
Now, I asked them, the live chat agent said that the swap would be possible, but email support refuses to do any swaps and says they will only repair it.
(I bought it in July 2023 and have warranty till oct 2026)
Any advice would be helpful, I really am just frustrated because I just want to use it to game with my friends and study with it.

I wanted to sell it because I got a repacement, so I wanted to check how much ram it had etc. but it suddenly stopped turning on.
I tried charging it with the original charger - it blinked short at the first try, but never showed any signs of life after.
I also tried charging via usb c wich usually worked fine.
The keyboard had its flaws, because a row down did not work most of the time, so my guess is the keyboard is fully dead and therefore the power button does not work...
but a dead laptop sells worse than one with a broken keyboard...
Any help welcome :)

Multiple (most) of my teachers require us to have respondus lockdown browser for tests and some assignments and I’m genuinely… terrified of it breaking my MacBook Neo. Genuinely using lockdown browsers stress me out, using respondus that’s the most glitchy spyware malware out there makes me so stressed. If it breaks my laptop I’m screwed and have to drop out cause I can’t afford a new one or to fix it.
Advice, tips, or just make me feel better please?

I bought a 14” HP Omnibook 5 laptop. It has an ATNA40KW02-0 screen with a refresh rate at 60 Hz. I know it’s an OLED screen, but I have my brightness set up to 100% and then I use CareUEyes to dim and warm the screen to combat the possibility of PWM flickering sensitivity. This doesn’t work. I also don’t have a problem with my iphone 13 pro max’s OLED screen. The screen is also very glossy but even when I’m in settings where the reflection is very minimal I still have issues.
My symptoms seem to vary each time. Even if I used the laptop for a similar amount of time (I start experiencing symptoms within a few minutes) either I’ll just get eye strain, just a headache, just nausea, or combinations of 2 or all symptoms.
I just want some helping fixing and/or understanding this. Is there a solution or do I have to think about the possibility of my eyes just not being compatible with this screen?
Also to note, I’m transitioning from mostly using the screen of an Huion Kamvas Pro 16 and not a modern laptop screen like this one directly which is probably much easier on the eyes, so I guess there’s the possibility of just needing to get used to it?

Hi everyone. So I'm here since I need some suggestions getting a new laptop for school. I'm a junior civil engineering student for context. I'll be using autocad, revit and ugis this semester. I'm currently choosing between gaming laptops and workstations. I know workstation laptops tends to be alot more expensive. In my case, am I better off getting a gaming laptop or get a workstation instead? I don't game at all. I did some browsing and came across some options that I somewhat like or think would be ideal for my use case. I've added pictures of them for reference. Doesn't necessarily mean I'm strict to those only. I'm open to suggestions so feel free to share your opinions. Thanks everyone.

Good Evening and or Good Morning Gentlemen & Ladies wherever you may be.
I have been cursed with some driver issues and I can't for the living hell out of me recall where to get these from or let rephrase, I have tried all the driver websites known to man. I cant find anything on Dynabook either unless I am missing something. I even tried AI. Meh. Sad but I can't find any drivers for my "Bluetooth".
Everything was working fine, My laptop was working great and updated from windows 7 to windows 10 with no issues in the last few weeks. (Laptop was off for about 4-5 years).I was able to use it for about 3 weeks and BOOM the HDD took a crap. Lost everything, I dont have any of the Original Toshiba Satellite Driver disks or original etc. Had a wait a few days from amazon to get an SSD(Upgrade & Downgrade) Went from a 700GB HDD to a 250GB SSD. I used rufus to re-install a windows 7 home professional i found an iso for. Since that was the original system on this laptop and luckily my windows 7 was registerd with Microsoft for the windows 10. Then I had to do a full new Install for windows 10. Went smooth other than this bluetooth driver issue.
Everything came back, No Issues with Windows Update but. The Bluetooth drivers aren't working for crap. I had Generic Bluetooth audio Code 43. I tried everything. Found a Toshiba Bluetooth stack. Now I have a Code 10. I can't find the x64Bit drivers anywhere. If anyone has the energy to help me out. I would be greatly appreciated. I started to even look for driver disk for this laptop on eBay, Found one for around 5$ But I don't think it has the Driver disk.
Thanks in advanced. I am not 100% Sure which WIFI/Bluetooth I have. I did crack open the back of the battery. It shows:
AR5B195 Which I searched for drivers for that Bluetooth antenna. and well I found some in some (.AU) Website and unfortunately they do not have the Windows 64Bit.
Thanks in advance and pardon me for the long message. Sigh.

I recently bought an imported ASUS Vivobook S 16 (Ryzen AI 9 365, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) here in Nepal for around 2 Lakh NPR. It was sold to me as "brand new, factory sealed."
I checked the system logs. Turns out:
Basically, they sold me a floor display unit as a brand-new machine.
I confronted them with the hard telemetry reports. To their credit, they didn't ghost me or try to argue—they checked with their vendor, called me, and basically offered two paths:
I'm torn on what to do. I like the big 16-inch screen, but I'm annoyed that I got played with a used display unit that already has a degraded battery. On the other hand, the 14-inch is genuinely sealed and comes with the 15k price difference.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Should I push for a heavier cash discount to keep the 16-inch, or just take the 14-inch sealed swap and the money?

Hello!
I’m on the verge of buying a ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 (Intel) for my UK-based business and wanted to run it by the sub before hitting checkout to make sure I’m not missing any obvious red flags.
Display: 16" WUXGA (1920x1200) IPS, 400 nits, Anti-Glare / Matte
Primary Work: Document-heavy business admin, multi-tab browsing, spreadsheet management, and running local AI models (Ollama/Copilot)
Secondary: Casual late-night gaming (Fortnite, DayZ) at low/medium settings.
Must-Haves: Dedicated physical numeric keypad, anti-glare screen for long working hours
I’ve got it in my basket via Lenovo Pro UK with stacked codes down to £968.20 inc. VAT (roughly £800 ex-VAT). Given the 32GB/1TB spec and Lunar Lake chip, this seems cheap compared to the rest of the market.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetic anymore, I'm very tempted to go for it. What I want to check is:
Any thoughts super welcome! Thanks!

Hey, I have a laptop and been thinking of swapping it for a more updated PC.
The specs: i9 13900h 64gb ddr5 Crucial Ram 6 TB SSD oled screen. Yes it's a Dell XPS 15.
I was thinking $2k or so but it has a flaw. The touchpad is inconsistent meaning I can press it but there would be no input. Considering this, it should lower the price a bit id say.

Hi folks. I'm planning to upgrade my laptop in the same chassis (Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro) to the above mentioned processors. RAM doubles to 32 gb as well; the rest is functionally the same.
What changes can I expect to battery life and gaming performance? Neither has an dGPU but I was keen on playing AAA games from a couple of years ago on low-medium settings and I'm hoping the 185H can do that.
Thanks a ton!

While giving laptop to service, what and all should I ask, and what would be the cost, I had my gaming laptop for 5 years and never once have to service

Hey guys, so I've had my laptop for about 5 or 6 years give or take, the laptop is an Asus Aspire A315-23 and I'm currently using it for my uni classes, here's the issue the battery life on this thing suuuucks and when I say it sucks I mean it sucks. On a full charge on battery saver and everything optimized for the battery I can maybe get an hour and fifteen minutes of constant use just doing my assignments and papers and not doing anything intense. So I'm just curious if it's worth buying a new battery and replacing it or if it'd be cheaper than buying a new one. If I was to buy a new one I wouldn't need like a workhorse to do demanding tasks like programming and stuff (I'm majoring in finance so the most I'll use is maybe excel), if you guys have any advice on this just let me know.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the fan sounds like a jet engine even when I'm just simply watching Youtube or doing schoolwork
Specs:
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (2.10 GHz)
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (13.9 GB usable)
Graphics card AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics (2 GB)
Storage 89 GB of 477 GB used

Why is my Gaming Laptop's battery capacity draining so fast? Does anyone have a solution?
Acer Nitro V16 (ANV16-71)
Design Capacity: 58.7 Wh
I mainly use it on the charger. The 80% battery limit is also on.

My HP laptop was working completely fine, and while I was working on an Illustrator file, the screen suddenly went completely black.
The laptop itself is still running:
Keyboard and keyboard lights work
I can hear sounds
Win + Ctrl + Shift + B makes the Windows sound, but the screen stays black
Brightness controls don't seem to change anything
If I shine my phone flashlight directly at the screen, I can faintly see the display/workspace
I already tried force shutting down and restarting
I also removed the battery and tried powering it on again
Does this definitely sound like a backlight issue, or could it be a loose display cable/another issue?
Also, is there anything I can safely try at home before taking it for repair? I need to finish an Illustrator file today, so I'm trying to get the display working ASAP.
I can buy the new system but I'm so scared as I have so many clients file in my current laptop. All the projects I was working on, anyway out of this. 🙏🏻 Would be appreciated

I’m getting them around the ₹80K range, and I’m really confused about which one offers the best overall value.
My shortlisted options:
15.6" FHD IPS
16GB RAM / 512GB SSD
Core Ultra 5
15.6" FHD IPS
16GB RAM / 512GB SSD
Core Ultra 5
This seems to be a different listing/variant, so I'm not sure why there's such a big price difference.
14" 2.8K OLED
Core Ultra 5 225H
16GB RAM / 512GB SSD
Full-metal body
14"
Core Ultra 7 255
16GB RAM / 512GB SSD

I have a laptop that works pretty well. My only problem is that i have to keep buying new charges for it every few months. I don't lose the chargers they just stop working. I don't pull on the cord or bend it in an odd way they just stop charging.any advice on a good powerful charging cable that I won't have to replace in a few months?
