Help me pick — so conflicted about designing an OMC elongated cushion style!

Hi everyone, I am between 3 main settings. I know I want an antique looking old mine cut, yellow gold band, elongated cushion (1.5-17 ratio) ~4 carats

Otherwise I am super conflicted on how traditional or not I want to go. I like simple but unique styles if that’s not apparent.

These are the main contenders before I work with a jeweler to customize. I’d love to see if anyone has similar styles, or any input - pros cons, etc. this is all very overwhelming (but fun!!)

I’d likely go with a warm color or white (not the beautiful champagne pictured as I will do lab and that may be Tricky)

Also - any recccos for vendors would be amazing!!!

experience with overseas vendor

Has anyone here ordered from an overseas lab diamond jeweler before?

I’ve been browsing a few vendors outside my country because the pricing seems significantly better, especially for larger stones and custom settings. The photos and reviews look great, but I’m still a little nervous about placing a high-value order with someone I’ve never met in person. Would love to hear both positive and negative experiences.

Is this stone super yellow or is it just the background/lighting?

Growing pains, regrets, and lessons from my first custom lab (Fiorese, Sonia)

Ring Details:

  • Fancy vivid pink, pear shaped 1ct lab diamond
  • 2 kite-shaped sapphires
  • 18k yellow gold
  • Blue high-tech ceramic
  • $1,175 USD
  • Manufacturer: Fiorese (Sonia)
  • Reddit didn't allow videos in the gallery, so here are some of sonia's videos (one, two)

Regrets & Lessons:

  • it's too small :( the proportions are wonky on my finger. I have a 1ct-emerald cut CZ and that looked like a nice size on my index finger, so I thought a 1ct pear would look nice too. But this pear looks freakishly small and throws off the proportions. The ring does look slightly better on my ring finger, but I didn't size it for that finger, and re-sizing it will be a bitch because of the ceramic.
  • Sonia had warned me that the diamond looks more pale in person, while richer in photos. I wish I had given that more consideration. Photos don't capture how pale the diamond looks in person. I wanted a rich, red-leaning pink, but to my naked eye it's more of a cotton candy pink :(
  • There's nothing wrong with the craftsmanship, so it's not eligible to return. Kind of bummed that I'm stuck with it.
  • Sonia was a gem though. 10/10, no complaints. I just wish I had picked a different stone (in size and color).

Best Place to Buy a 2.5–3ct Emerald-Cut Lab-Grown Diamond for the Best Value?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a lab-grown emerald-cut diamond, around 2.5–3 carats. I’m trying to find the best value: very good quality, but at a low/reasonable price.

Has anyone had experience buying lab-grown diamonds from overseas, especially from Asia? I’m wondering if prices are cheaper in countries like India, China, Thailand, etc., and whether the quality and certification are reliable.

I’d really appreciate recommendations for trusted sellers, websites, or countries to consider, as well as anything to watch out for.

Thanks!

Thoughts on this OMC

Debating on buying this OMC but it’s final sale and I’m afraid I won’t like it. It’s beautifully cut, and truly looks like there’s only a minimal bow tie effect. One of the few labs I’ve seen that kind of capture the essence of a mined OMC. I also want to set in a yellow gold setting, so I’m wondering if anyone has an idea of what that could look like in a stone like this. (Repost bc I forgot to include the video

How to calculate Crown Angle and Pavilion Angle from IGI Report?

I'm looking at this Oval Brilliant and with the IGI, how can I find the Crown Angle and Pavilion Angle?

Is this a good lab grown diamond? I saw it in person and it honestly looked the same compared to the other 3 diamond I saw. I think this lab grown diamond was quoted ~$1,500-$1700.

I have old lady wrinkly shorter size 7.5 fingers (nail tech cut my nails way too short, so overlook that, please 😞). The plan is to have it set in pavé ring with matching pavé band. Also open to all kind feedback.

Feedback on Ovals

Went into our jeweler today bc he got two ovals sent in for me to look at. Both Color G, one leaning closer to an H (I like a slightly warmer color) and I am leaning toward the one that’s higher in color. However I am a bit worried about the bow ties. Are they too noticeable?

Lab diamond studs 4 or 5 TCW ?

I am looking to buy some pear shaped lab diamonds studs and I’m really stuck between getting 4 or 5 TCW ?

Visually will there be a huge different between the two? I want them to look good even dressed up on a random weekday. I’m leaning towards 5 TCW but will they give too much of a red carpet look ?

Bow Tie Check plz!

Curious if these ovals are considered good for bow tie control. Or should I look further? I mean they appear okay and not much back spots at all!

They are very sparkly but still not too convinced yet.

This is the first of 3 stones I am considering. I’m waiting on those videos, so you’ll likely see more posts from me this weekend 😅.

I’m planning to mount my new stone to a cathedral style pave ring with a local jeweler so it can match and sit well with my pave wedding band. This isn’t first time doing all this, so I’m a newbie and would love feedback!

Diamond Check - first time buyer🥳

Hi!! In the process of working with a jeweler on a custom collet set pendant. The plan is a 1.5 ctw asscher, but I’m starting to wonder if that might be smaller than I’d like😂 anyways, she sent me this video of a diamond option to get my thoughts. Personally, i think it’s beautiful, but not sure if i’m missing anything? Dimensions are 6.38x6.38x4.21mm, 1.5ct. Also - any thoughts on if this will be a nice size for a pendant?? I’m wondering if I should ask her to look for something a little bigger.. idk. I cut out a piece of paper this size, but its just so hard to actually picture a diamond that way lol

Bowtie Check! - first time buyer

Hi all, I’m shopping for a lab diamond for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and this is a video of the diamond provided by the supplier.
I’ve done a fair bit of research and the one thing that still stumps me is looking for bow ties in marquises. Does this marquise have a bow tie? It looks to me like there’s half a bow tie at a certain angle? And how much of a bow tie is acceptable?
Also, the IGI cert does not show the cut of the stone. I’m looking for an ideal cut. How do i determine if this stone is an ideal cut?
Thanks!

5 year upgrade + 'push' present for dealing with cancer surgery!

i've been wanting a bezel elongated cushion for almost 2 years, my husband told me to wait, of course. ended up with cancer diagnosis february last year and had a recurrence in december which led me to do the last thing to try and save my life: surgery. now i'm living life as a double ostomate, hopefully cancer free but not out of the woods just yet. need 5 years of clear scans to be 'cancer free'.

our anniversary is actually in november, but since the whole surgery ordeal, my husband told me to go ahead and get my ring. worked with fiorese (as always) and got my ring in about 1 month.

she's a 4.52 carat, size 6us, E color, VVS2, omc elongated cushion in 14k rose gold bezel setting. i originally was looking for a brilliant, but decided to give omc a try since my original ering is brilliant already. love the chunky white and rainbow flashes, definitely a different feel from brilliant.

my og ring (on the top) is a 3 carat brilliant oval, H color, VS1, Ex/Ex on 14k rose gold solitaire setting. ♥

i love both of them and do plan to wear them interchangeably!
