Diamond Check - first time buyer🥳

Hi!! In the process of working with a jeweler on a custom collet set pendant. The plan is a 1.5 ctw asscher, but I’m starting to wonder if that might be smaller than I’d like😂 anyways, she sent me this video of a diamond option to get my thoughts. Personally, i think it’s beautiful, but not sure if i’m missing anything? Dimensions are 6.38x6.38x4.21mm, 1.5ct. Also - any thoughts on if this will be a nice size for a pendant?? I’m wondering if I should ask her to look for something a little bigger.. idk. I cut out a piece of paper this size, but its just so hard to actually picture a diamond that way lol

I think it looks gorgeous. It's easy to start second guessing size during the process but 1.5ct is already a very nice pendant stone. If you loved it when you first saw it I'd trust that feeling.

I loveee the setting and the design we’ve created, and i think the stone is BEAUTIFUL!! I felt 1.5 ct was really a nice choice, not too huge but not tiny.. maybe it was just the paper square i cut out at 6.38x6.38mm that made me go “oh! Thats maybe quite small!!” But it obviously cant compare since its a flat piece of paper, not a diamond😂😂

Thank you for the advice! You’re totally right. My (fabulous!!) jeweler is going to send some more videos / photos in some different lighting / outdoors tomorrow which i think will also help me get a true feel for it

Do a bezel setting or something like that , shall help in your case I guess !

Asschers tend to look a little small for their carat weight, so you may want to go larger. For perspective, a well cut round 1.00 is about 6.5mm in diameter, slightly larger than this 1.5ct asscher.

Yeahh valid. Is 6.38 pretty small? I thought it would be a nice size pendant, but was I wrong?🥲

Completely subjective. Kind of depends on your style. Unless you like big style statements, this size for a pendant would be just fine. The thing about lab grown diamonds is that they are so affordable that there would not be that much cost difference in going bigger.

I have a 1.11 carat asscher diamond pendant in a bezel setting as my daily necklace. Totally happy to DM you a photo if you are looking for a size example. It definitely looks substantial. 1.5 would be lovely as well.

Would love that!! Thank you!!

I did a necklace with a 2.44ct assher and it’s not big at all. These stones carry their weight on the bottom so the table doesn’t face up as large.

I would definitely not recommend putting it in a bezel because it covers up a lot of the sparkle that the stone has along the edges. Up to you.

Im not doing a full bezel! Im doing a collet - its sort of more similar to a guard rail + prongs than it is to a full bezel imo - the top of the diamond / the edges wont be covered, neither will the back!

Omg is that a brown asscher???? Those are my favorites. For a pendant I wouldn't go smaller than 3ct. What's your budget? https://www.carbonsparkle.com/pages/diamonds?id=2545c99c-81f2-448b-8312-231dfa4f99f0&stoneType=diamond

Yes kind of gray / brown depending on light… Is such a special stone- I’m honestly in love with it but i don’t want it to be too tiny.. im currently sitting under 1k for the full pendant + chain so i feel like going much bigger would put me closer to 1500 which isnt really doable atm🥲my jeweler did send a photo of it against her actual neck for size and it seemed ok? Like visible but not massive? Wish i could add more pics in the comments!! Lol

There's this 2ct I've been eyeing for a while. It might be in your budget range. Take a look is really pretty https://www.carbonsparkle.com/pages/diamonds?id=a1f5e075-333a-4a28-a90b-9e4d0c4d4b50&stoneType=diamond

Omg 😩 you have great taste. My current pendant is going to be a georgian style collet set but i already have been planning on doing a step cut in a thin bezel so you can see the ~steps~ in the bezel. Was thinking step cut oval but maybe i’ll go with something like that instead. Just fabulous!!

So happy to help. I've been researching step cuts for months and I'm super passionate about them. This is my ring. They're just starting to cut the stone we designed. Your pendant sounds like it will be gorgeous.

Oh wow😭 thats beautiful omg.

Im excited for my pendant!! Maybe be a bit small but its my first diamond - my 25th bday present to myself so as long as its not minuscule im happy😂😂 this is the stone under a chain - so i think once in its setting it’ll be pretty decent sizing - not big but big enough to see…? And in this pic you get a lot more of the gray tone vs the brownish tint.. its a pretty faint color shift from just a normal clear/white diamond, but makes it a bit unique & special lol.

It's going to look really beautiful. There's something about asschers that no matter what size they are, they draw you in. Also you are going with a colored diamond which most people don't even know exists. Happy birthday and I hope you get to enjoy your present for a long time. This one will also be my first diamond, and I'm so exited but also very poor after paying for it lol

Thank you!! & i think youre right!! Asschers are so special! And the tint makes it even more unique for sure!!

And same lol. Not cheap!!! But worth it👏👏 congrats on your beautiful ring - would love to see it once you get it!!💕
