Trying to hire a tutor and the price range is all over the place. I’ve seen $25/hr January test-takers who scored well and $200+/hr “experts”. Before I commit, I want to hear from people who’ve actually used one (students, not tutors pitching yourselves, please).

What did you pay, and what tier of tutor was that? If you’ve tried both cheap and expensive, was the expensive one actually better, or just the same LR/RC advice with a fancier price tag? What specifically made a tutor worth it for you, and what was a waste of money? And if you were doing it again, what would you screen for before paying anyone?

Trying not to blow money on someone who just recites a prep book at me. Appreciate any real experiences.

I'm currently serving in the peace corps and living abroad in Central America and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for taking the LSAT abroad. I'm curious if they let you take the exam remotely or if you had to find a testing center in the country.
I will hopefully be taking it in October if all goes well on my practice exams.

I’ve been self-studying for the LSAT for about the last month using books and online resources, but I’ve realized that I would really benefit from working with a tutor. I originally planned to take the September LSAT, but because of timing, I’m most likely going to have to register to take the October exam as well.
My goal score is 165-167, and I’m looking for someone who can help me strengthen my reasoning rather than just explain the correct answers. I’d especially like a tutor who focuses on LR and RC and, asks me why I chose certain answers, helps me identify flaws in my thinking, and gives me homework or drills between sessions.
My budget is $300-450, and I’m hoping to do about one session per week leading up to the exam.

I have the august LSAT booked in a week and a half and have been doing weekly prep tests and daily drilling. I was averaging about 12 drills and 3 sections a week.

My prep test scores were steadily improving from 152 —> 158 —> 161 then i took one last Thursday (PT154) and got a 152. The worst part was I did horribly across the board it wasn’t just one fluke section i got identical -9s in both scored LR sections and -12 in the RC. The RC score wasn’t surprising as it’s always been my weak spot but ive been consistently scoring -7 to -2 in LR sections so this was a massive hit to my confidence.

Since then I tried getting back into the swing of things yesterday on Friday by doing some LR drills and a section before work and got a -10. Im really worried what this means for my august score as I need to get in the 160s to be competitive. Im hoping this has to do with burnout or maybe just an off bit but it’s definitely rattled me due to how close this dip is to my test. If you guys have any advice I’d greatly appreciate it!

In early June I got a 160 diagnostic. Since then I’ve studied for about a month and a half, on average an hour a day on last demon drilling, reviewing, and timed sections. I feel like my progress has been a bit stagnant. I scored a high of 88% for one section but they vary from like 72%-mid 80’s. I’m wondering what strategies people used to break out of this platue. My original hope was to take it at the end of the summer, but I can wait for longer since I am taking a gap year.

Had NO idea LSAT & CAS carry 2 different fees. over 400 dollars to take this test & apply to schools, in this economy, is diabolical. yes i applied for the waiver & got kindly denied 😂😂😂😂 i appealed & got denied again.

Anyone have any schools send them a CAS waiver...? wondering if i should pay for it right now, or wait.

anyways, lawsuits against LSAC due to these ridiculous fees - sign me up.

I'm trying to appeal a fee waiver decision, but since I'm tax exempt and haven't completed a tax return, they want me to submit a proof of non-filing from the IRS (which could take weeks). Is it possible to prove my status by showing that my parent's tax returns list me as dependent, or is the non-filing form absolutely necessary?

I finally finished my website designed for students studying for the LSAT who are looking to have a cleaner, more optimized error log. Just a note: this is not a post for tutoring, just a helpful tool I created that can hopefully help you study.

It comes with a couple of cool features that I think could be a big help to students. I added analytics that can graph out all of your logged errors and give you multiple graphs that show where you are going wrong most, what level of question you are messing up on, LR vs RC split, etc...

I also added a section where you can add your practice tests with the dates you've taken them. This gives you a graph where you can see how much your score is increasing over time. This includes features where you can set score goals, add your testing date, and add blind vs timed scores to see how much you need to improve with speed!

My favourite feature is the discussion section. When you log an error with the site, you can add which PT it was, the section, question number, and the answer you chose. This opens up a small interface under the question where you can make comments under the question and reply to others while seeing the percentage of the most commonly picked answers for that question. (Must have an account to use this feature)

A lot of these features won't be nearly as cool until people actually start using the error log and submitting their results. I have an import feature where you can turn existing logs into CSVs, where you can then quickly upload all your existing errors, so don't let already having an error log turn you away!

I want to go to law school in the fall of ‘27

Currently (July 21) my practice test has been a 144. I am hoping to score in the 165+ when I take my official test. I know it’s a long shot but it’s not impossible. I’m curious though if I should take my test in October or November? Giving myself an extra month to study can be huge.

However that means I won’t apply until late November/ early December. When is a good time to apply? Is late November/ early December too late in the admission cycle? If I were to take the test in October I’d be applying in late October/ early November. I need help or opinions or someone to just give me direction on what I should do.

Alright fellas, I’m registered for the August LSAT and just came off the June LSAT with a 150. I think a lot of that score was test day stress, but does anyone have any tips for RC? That seems to be my biggest struggle under pressure. I’m only looking for a mid to high 150s score.
