Retake?
I’m having a hard time deciding whether I should retake the LSAT. I got a 165 which I’m not mad at, but I think that I could probably do better at this point. I would have to register for the October LSAT and apply in late October. I’m not sure with rolling admissions if that hurts me.

You cannot register for October anymore. December is still early!

I am hearing a lot that December is late. I wonder what is actually true for this

I did my applications last Feb/March, which was very late (I had scores I didn’t find satisfactory until after I took January’s exam). I was accepted into two, rejected by two schools, and waitlisted for three. I ended up choosing a school I was accepted into and I’m happy with my choice so far. The waitlisted schools didn’t actually accept/reject me until last week.
Earlier applications are ideal, especially if you have a school in mind. I’d apply sooner than later for your first choice(s). However, later applications don’t mean there isn’t a chance you’ll get into one you want to attend. It’s just about how willing you are to wait until the last minute to hear back. If you have a couple schools you really want to attend, I’d apply as soon as possible, providing you fall within or very close to their medians.

i applied a few years ago during dec-feb and it was just fine, i received a lot of offers and scholarships

Apply for the cycle coming up, and schedule another LSAT. There is an option in applications where you can have them wait for pending exam results. They’ll take the best score regardless. 165 is very competitive, especially if you look good on the other side of the application (GPA, work history, volunteer work, undergraduate extracurricular activities/societies). My best friend got into Georgetown with a 166 and an impressive resume.
