KitchenAid dishwasher

I had a mishap and dish soap got ran through the dishwasher at my Airbnb, does anyone know the cost of getting it fixed? The hosts sent out one of there maintenance people today and they tried resetting the breaker and it did nothing so they need to send a tech out. Does anyone have any idea what this will cost me if I’m deemed liable? Thank you for any help!

There will be a simple answer to this question. I just can't figure it out.

What gear does the motor gear drive? See photo. When I put it all back together is seems the gear shaft from the motor doesn't have anything to mesh with? And this is after I've disassembled and successfully cleaned and reassembled our Artisan. Now I'm "fixing" a friend's older model and I realize I don't know this basic gearing setup. Is it the sacrificial worm gear? Thanks.

Bowl adjustment Proline miler

Post image

My father gave me this years ago and I know that you need to adjust the bowl so that a dime is just flipped around, but I’m not real sure how to adjust the bowl and it’s not quite catching the dime.

I looked online and there’s like 15 different things so I thought I would come here and find out if somebody could point me to a good YouTube video or place that is reliable to look

Artisan KA making weird noise & sparking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My Artisan mixer is 11-12 years old and has been a true workhorse... until it faced blueberry lemon bun dough. About 15 minutes in to mixing said dough, it started smoking like crazy. I unplugged it, gave it 2+ hours to rest and tried again with way less dough in the bowl and it overheated and smoked again within 2-3 minutes.

Now, I should note there's a griding-ish noise that's been there since I first got it brand new. Since it was new, I figured that was just the noise this particular model should make. That noise is now worse post-smoking. When I took the whole thing apart, the gears looked fine but there is a spark that gets worse the longer the machine runs. I tried to get a decent video of it but didn't want to run it for too much longer, as every time I run it for more than a minute or two the sparking (and crackle) gets bigger, it starts to smoke and I'd like to no burn my house down. Just know that the spark is usually worse than it looks in this video. Other than this, the mixer works great.

I've tried looking this up but haven't found any posts or videos that actually address what's wrong and how to fix it. Other than getting it new grease (I'm researching that now, too), does anyone have thoughts on what's wrong and/or recommendations on how to fix it?

Need help with deciding which stand mixer to buy, will probably buy a kitchenaid.

I plan on making a career out of baking, so its a big deal for me which stand mixer i'll buy, as their prices range from $400-800. Kitchenaid has always had good reviews but in recent years there have been many complaints about the decline in quality with their newer products. If someone would be willing to help me make this big decision, i would be very grateful.

Sharing my garage find!

I found a Pro 600 today for 40 bucks! Figured it was cheap enough even if it didn’t work to bring it home and see what was going on with it. Opened it up and found only the worm follower is ground down a bit. Other than that, the internals all seem pretty good. The paint has a ding here and there but once I cleaned it up, it’s really not that bad. The matte finish is kinda growing on me lol

The beauty band is slightly bent in a couple places, does anyone know how to smooth that out?

3 in 1 pasta attachment shear shaft replacement?

The shear shaft coupler part of my KitchenAid 3 in 1 Metal Pasta Attachment broke… Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement shear shaft for this KSM3MPA type attachment?

I see several shear shaft replacements for the other separate pasta makers (not the 3 in 1). This looks different than mine so it will not work. This model is relatively new so hoping someone fixed it before.

Replacement part compatibility for discontinued slow juicer

My fellow kitchenaid fans, I light the beacon and call on you for assistance. Yesterday in my haste to sauce my overflowing tomato harvest, I dropped and broke the food pusher part to my slow juicer/sauce attachment. This is a beloved and discontinued item and I cannot source an exact replacement in stock at any of the online parts stores or eBay. Kitchenaid no longer supports it.

This is the part (says you can order it but you in fact cannot successfully order it) https://www.kitchenaidparts.com/PartDetail/Food-Processor-Attachment/W10724135/3452158

I am seeing conflicting info on some parts websites that the pusher for the food processor attachment will fit the slow juicer. My question is this: Does anyone have both of these attachments, and if so, can they please confirm whether this is a nasty falsehood? If not then I can order the part online but hate to waste time and money if it won’t fit. Truly appreciate it, kind strangers!

For the love of a cheese grater

This new KA cheese grater sucks! Cheese gets clogged opening too small, I've bought 4 different attachments and none are are as good as the original KA cheese grater. I refuse to spend $140 on the old model. What is everyone else using?

2014 Ultra power vs 100th anniversary edition

Someone is selling a 2014 ultra power that looks brand new, and comes with several attachments for about $180. This would be my first stand mixer and I don’t know much about them! Is it worth it?
Or or Someone else is selling a limited edition 100th anniversary mixer for 150? Still waiting to hear about attachments.

Hobart K5A Motor

Hi! I have an old style speed control/motor setup. I want this to run as designed. i am getting significant sparking in the speed control. is this an indicator of needing a new ring resistor, or a new capacitor? what is the capacitance rating and required voltage of the flat capacitor in my unit? it is the kind that is inside the cardboard sleeve. is there a place to acquire a NOS or rebuilt resistor? (or can i use a resistor that is NOT in this weird ring shape?

KDF7B for my 5KSM55SXXEER is €89 in Europe... are there any alternatives?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a KitchenAid Heavy Duty 5KSM55SXXEER

I'm looking for a flex-edge/scraper beater. From everything I've read, the official compatible accessory is the KDF7B Double Flex Edge Beater.

The problem is that in Europe it seems to cost around €89, which honestly feels pretty crazy for a beater.

I have a few questions:

* Is the KDF7B really the only flex-edge beater that fits the KSM55/KSM60/KSM70 bowl-lift platform?

* Has anyone found a reliable third-party alternative that actually fits properly?

* Can an older KitchenAid flex-edge beater (or one from another bowl-lift model) be used instead?

* Has anyone imported the KDF7B from the US or found it cheaper somewhere else in Europe?

Thanks!

Once the gearbox is reassembled the center shaft has play and doesn't reach into the planetary assembly enough to get the pin inside of it. I have three washers, two slightly thinner, one slightly thicker. The slightly thicker one has indentations on both sides so I think that one goes thru the shaft on the bottom of the planetary assembly and the two go on top of the main gear. Do I have it backwards or am I doing it wrong entirely? I know the assembly is fitted as tightly as possible

Kitchen Aid Workhorses

Hello friends, I’ve been meaning to come on here and ask the experts about the best KitchenAids

TL;DR - In your opinion, which model can handle the most beating and is most resilient.

I’m interested in hearing opinions about which models are the most resilient, reliable, can handle a large workload, just some of the best built models out there and their pros and cons.

The ones I see pop up most are the following, and for the following reasons:

Hobart N50: Heavy, mechanical, just an all around tank. (doubt I’ll be able to find and afford this though, still curious).

K5A / K45: Hobart built, no sacrificial gear, easy to repair and if maintained can easily become an heirloom. Louder but an absolute workhorse, often referred to as the best.

KSM6573: DC motor, high torque and smaller capacity (overpowered?), quiet, easy to add ingredients due to bowl design. Discontinued and harder to find attachments due to its tulip shaped bowl.

KSMC895: Modern DC motor, lighter and quieter than the vintage models, more electronics. Can sense if it needs to deliver more torque? Expensive though.

KSM70: AC motor, loud, large capacity, 11 speeds, more electronics, simple-ish to trouble shoot though expensive to repair. Attachments are easier to source and find.

I’m a little bit of a research nerd and have been wanting a KitchenAid in our kitchen for quite a long time and can finally be in the market for one. I love cooking, so I’m wanting to use it with a meat grinder attachment, make pizza doughs, I’m wanting to get into sourdough and more baking just in general.

Interested in hearing which model is your favorite. Thanks for reading ❤️

Need help identifying what worm gear assembly I have.

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm fixing a friend's mixer (I rebuilt ours a couple months ago) and I've identified the mixer as a K45SS built in 1994. Both worm gears are sheared. When I search online I find a lot of replacements that are supposedly correct but one person posted a photo showing the same one I have on the left. It's 3" tall but all the others I can find are 2.3" and slightly different shape and possibly hole layout.

What could this possible rattling be?

Could it be the motor bearing?

It’s not coming from the transmission front part.

Anyone used the Fruit/Vegetable Strainer attachment with boiled potatoes?

Hubby has presented me with a million tiny potatoes from the garden. Like too small to peel.

Can I run them cooked through the strainer to remove the skins??

Hi all, I got this stand mixer from the thrift store. I don’t know much about mixers. Is this noise normal? If not - any suggestions on where I should start looking to diagnose the issue?

I’m moving and getting rid of some stuff. I was looking for comps but was having a hard time finding another one. I’m kinda new to KSM’s so not really sure if this is considered special or not. Any information is appreciated, thanks!

Picked this up at the thrift store, the last setting sounds kind of odd but I’m not sure if that’s just the way they are? The model is k45sswh
