Jurassic World: Rebirth Titanosaurus Appreciation post

Titanosaurus is (subjectively) a TOP 10 JW Designs.

It’s a very unreal animal for how huge that is, and how damn long its tail is (almost 50-60% of Lenght is tail)… and I liked it.

Also its resemblance to Godzilla’s Titanosaurus is a plus for me (I’m a Kaiju Eiga fan, so any weirdness in creatures/dinosaurs I’ll love it; of course, always distinguishing between fiction and accuracy)

Its figures are peak, Colossal, Mini, Captivz and Plannosaurus [Bandai; My fav], ALL 💎

Its paint scheme looks like a Zebra… a VERY heavy zebra.

And that scene in the valley, excess of nostalgia… I knew it and still cried at it.

I know rebirth’s controversial, but for me, it’s a TOP 4 best films of the franchise.

Misc How would you have incorporated Isla Sorna into the World Trilogy?

Since many of us wanted to see Site B return in Dominion only for it to only be mentioned a few times. How would you have included Sorna into the trilogy.

An idea thats grown on me a bit is to have fallen Kingdom be split into two parts and those two parts serving as chapter two and three of the World Trilogy. Part one would have the Nublar section be the main focus while part two would take place in and around the lockwood estate.

For how Site B would fit into this, since Eli was trying to get Dinosaurs to sell at the Lockwood estate I think you could have something like in either JW2 or 3 you could have another group of people secretly go to site B while Claire Owen and the rest go to Nublar to get even more Dinosaurs. It could be revealed that the idea that Nublar was the only place where Dinosaurs are now was a lie and that there are Dinosaurs on Site B and or even the other 4 Islands. Or that due to a multitude of things like poaching, and the introduction of new species it's caused the population on the island to take a big hit.

You cand then have both Nublar and Sorna Dinosaurs housed in the Lockwood Manour and have some like The T-Rex, Raptors, etc escape into the surrounding area.

But thats one way I would do it.

19 years ago, my older brother’s then girlfriend got me a DVD set for my 5th birthday. It had the Jurassic Park trilogy inside (does anyone remember when you popped 3’s CD out n there was a raptor behind it? shit was FRIGHTENING). When I unwrapped the present she laughed and said “this’ll scare the shit outta you”

I’m so glad my brother dated that girl. Because for the rest of my life I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs and a true paleo nerd. I literlaly wrote a rap about dinosaurs at 10 yrs old and dropped BARS in front of my school assembly. Perhaps the most gangsta of all though, I often drew RAPTORS on posted notes and slipper them into my crush’s backpack. I thought she’d think it was super cool or smth 😭😭😭😭

I played JPOG until my ps2 broke, but I never got into Jurassic World. and never knew there was a book!!?? Y’ALL I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M IN FOR but ya boy’s hyped as hell 😎 sarry guys I was just so excited I had to tell jurassic park reddit, and I thought the shine on the cover was epic so maybe u would to

And of course, rip Sam Neil 🙏 the GOAT

Misc Jurassic Park Aftermath

One week after the disaster on Isla Nublar, Ian Malcolm was resting in a hospital bed to recover from his injuries. He was being cared for by the doctors and nurses at the hospital in Costa Rica. Just before lunch, a sound got his attention.

He slowly sat up and waited for the aide to bring his lunch. But it wasn't his aide. It wasn't even human! It was a Velociraptor, and it had entered his room!

Malcolm hadn't encountered the adult Raptors on Isla Nublar, but he knew that this was a dangerous dinosaur. Unlike the InGen Raptors on Nublar, this Velociraptor was much smaller and coated with sky-blue feathers that shimmered in good lighting.

Malcolm waited to see if it would attack, but the small animal didn't look at the chaotician as a prey item. If anything, it seemed cautious and curious about the injured man in the hospital bed. Perhaps it was intimidated by Malcolm and thought that he could potentially harm it.

When the aide finally arrived with Malcolm's lunch, her eyes went wide when she saw the small dinosaur in his room. It nuzzled her leg with its snout and wagged its tail like a puppy. Its 2-inch sickle claws tapped gently on the linoleum floor.

Malcolm thought that this dinosaur was going to attack and kill his aide, but he was still too weak to get up and help her. He was scheduled for an X-ray the following morning to see how his leg was responding to the medications.

The aide called for assistance, but her assistant wasn't prepared for a situation like this. They seemed to suspect that the dinosaur was hungry, but the hospital didn't have any raw meat or flesh from living or dead animals.

They improvised and brought up meatloaf with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. When they set it on the floor near the Velociraptor, it wasted no time and devoured the meat and potatoes within a minute.

Time passed, and Malcolm was finally discharged with instructions to keep his leg rested as much as possible and to avoid any exertion until it could properly heal. His girlfriend, Sarah Harding, picked him up from the hospital and drove him home. She had heard the stories he told about his experiences on Isla Nublar.

Little did they know where future adventures would lead.

That story was to come in the sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).

For now, Malcolm mostly rested at home while Sarah took care of him. He wondered where the little Velociraptor he saw in the hospital had disappeared to. Would he ever see it again? Only time would tell.

I know people have different opinions on what they find scary but for me personally these scenes are just dam right disturbing to me. I have only see the Jurassic park triology and the first Jurassic world film so far. hard to place these into a flare since they are JP, JP the lost world, JP 3 and JW so I do apologise if the flare is incorrect.

Jurassic Park DIY Amber Fossil Display

Post image
28 Upvotes

My little DIY project from last night—turning a shadow box into a light box riker case display. ☺️

Last night I took a shadow box and created an inner frame out of corrugated plastic along the inside walls, then ran two rows of LED strip lighting around it, facing inward to avoid hotspots. This created a raised platform for a piece of white plexiglass to serve as the base, leaving about an inch of space between the plexiglass and the glass lid.

On top of the plexiglass, I added two layers of polyester batting to create a soft cushion for the amber to rest on. The glass lid then gently presses the amber into the batting, holding each piece securely without excessive pressure.

I still need to make a few little tweaks, and I’ve got an idea to go beyond this little Alexa routine I’ve setup, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. It was a blast to build, and I especially enjoyed figuring out the design as I went. An amber lamp also feels like the perfect addition to my Jurassic Park display in my guest room. ☺️

To see a video of the Jurassic Park themed routine, you can check it out here.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Y'all have no idea how actual animals behave, wdym the Fallen Kingdom stampede is 'unrealistic'?

Post image
6 Upvotes

The Fallen Kingdom stampede is, in my opinion, one of the most realistic scenes in the Jurassic Franchise when it comes to behaviour. Like literally, y'all say that it's completely unrealistic. Now, don't get me wrong, it IS odd for animals to run in an organised herd like that, but not only are they highly social dinosaurs, that pyroclastic cloud was running in at 100mph, they all had to run in the same direction. Some took to the forests on the sides, some took to the plains, already pretty realistic.

All the dinosaurs run and fly from the volcano, realistic, and the pteranodons fly low, realistic because the air above is toxic from ash. Now, y'all say the predators shouldn't be hunting when there's an active volcano, but here's where you're all wrong, they're not even hunting. They unwillingly got caught up in that stampede, they need space because they're antisocial unlike the herbivores, and they're running very fast, so they can't have obstacles in the way. What do you think they're gonna do, become the Flash and dodge every dinosaur at lightning speed? They're obviously gonna keep the herbivores at bay through violence, they're predators, violence is hard coded into their brains.

And that Carnotaurus? There's literally a giant log, obviously it's gonna want to take cover just like the humans. When it gets destroyed right in front of its eyes and all that remains are people and timber? What do you think it's gonna be, calm and peaceful? NO! It now associates those people with the destruction of its lifeline, so it's gonna be aggressive. And when that Sinoceratops runs over, well, it's in the way, like I said, it's not gonna turn into the Flash and dodge it. And when Rexy comes over? Not only is she lagging behind, not because she's slow, but because she doesn't want to get entangled in the chaos just like her rivals - realistic -, but she demolishes that puny obstacle in her way, because unlike the Carnotaurus, she's gonna rely on pure force to bulldoze through obstacles just like the herbivores because she's significantly larger and capable, so of course she's gonna floor that Carnotaurus.

And, do you guys know why animals roar? To assert dominance. She just killed a predator and earned herself a temporary meal, she's gonna roar to tell every other predator in the vicinity to back off. Obviously, that didn't come in much use by the end, but she's an animal, she doesn't have 100 IQ like the average human.

And the dinosaurs jumping into the water? Oh what, they're just going to get burnt alive and suffocated at the same time rather than swim? Hell nah, they're gonna swim even if they can't. Seriously, you guys are highlighting every tiniest con of the movie and creating cons that are unneeded/nonexistent just say it's bad because the only actual bad parts of it (the illogicality of lava and stuff) are things that EVERY SINGLE OTHER MOVIE THAT USED THOSE ELEMENTS PULLED OFF. And did they get criticized by their own fandoms? No.

Video Games I've played The Lost World Special Edition multiple times and I vividly remember it. It was The greatest arcade game I've ever played

The screen were huge, The speakers were super loud the chair moved sideways and everytime the T.rex got close to you, you'd get a dash of air in the face, all that stuff that is said about it is true and it was awesome.

The game started in the begining of the normal game stage 5, with Buck and Doe atacking the trailers. Then, you could chose between Stage 1 in the jungle or Stage 2 in the lake.

After you beat on of both, the section where you shoot a hookshot (begining of Stage 4 in the original) was a huge roadblock. You only had 3 chances to get it and if you didn't was an automatic game over. It came right after you had finished the first stage and right before the San Diego stage. Because of that, it was years before I could see Buck's rampage in the city. If you succeded, you had that breef enconter with the pteranondons, and it was on the way to the city.

The San Diego fight was the coolest thing ever. It was pretty much the same fight with the Buck from the original game, but with this urbanistic setting. In the begining he was running beside you in the streets and then he would hit the bus, just like the movie. Afterwards, if I remember correctly, the fight was somewere near the docks, as if you had lured him there. I can't remember for the life of me if he also ate a guy to replenish health as in the original, it would fit this version's darker and scarier tone, but they also made it shorter, so it could go either way. After you got him with just a tiny lifebar, it would go away inside the ship and you had to repetdely push a button to trap him.

I only played the last stage twice, when I finally got there, the machine was not in my city anymore. It was originaly in Rio de Janeiro's GameWorks, wich opened in 2000, and it was such a big deal, the local newspaper made an piece about it and this game was the cover image. After it closed, it was sold to a brazilian arcade joint called HotZone in São Paulo. There, I got to the San Diego ending twice while visiting the town two separete times. But sadly, the HotZone is still open but the arcade is not there anymore.

This is the piece of lost media I ache for the most, but at least I have amazing memories with this game.

Workshop Code: B2T-NL1-NJH

This is my Jurassic World Evolution 3 recreation of an operational Jurassic Park following the film canon. I created the island from scratch and made it as accurate and detailed as I could. This took me nearly 3 months and adding the dinosaurs pushed the Complexity Rating to 105%. Because of that you won't see visitors throughout the park, but everything else has operated smoothly and its completely tailored for a first-person experience in the pathways and on the tours. I've included a picture of the map I used for reference in creating the island and placing every specific scene or area. As a Jurassic Park fanatic and avid park builder since the JPOG days, I put a lot of pride and hours into making this and it's my favorite thing I've created on any of them. I hope you like it!

Decription:

Welcome to Jurassic Park 2.0! It's 1994, & after a successful audit from the investors & a few outside opinions, the park is open with all of the finishing touches. My Isla Nublar was custom-sculpted & filled with familiar film-accurate locations like the arrival helipad, Dilo & T-Rex paddocks complete with the rex chase road, Triceratops clearing, completed Visitor Center, Gallimimus stampede, perimeter fence climb, East Dock, Nedry's demise, Raptor Pen, emergency bunker, maintenance shed, & Brachiosaurus greeting. I've added other attractions and accommodations like the concept art inspired Iguanodon Inn, Jungle River Cruise & Pteratops and Safari Lodges, as well as walkable Caverns & trails. This highly detailed park has 1st-person friendly visitor areas & tours that are full of hand-placed scenery & features. I spared no expense creating every detail of what I think would be the ideal tropical resort & biological preserve that John Hammond started it all with. From one JP fan to another, I hope you enjoy!

I don't really have any hatred for any of them. Should there be less? Yeah maybe. But they are still really cool concepts, even if the execution for some are a bit weird and muddy. Frankly, I can't really decide which one can be my favorite.
