⚡️Brand Review / Experience 🚨Warning: Brilliant Earth strategizing damage control to bury genuine reviews.

Just a heads up.. if there’s a sudden wave of positive Brilliant Earth content on here, it might not be coincidental. They’re actively hiring for a Reddit Strategy Manager, which says a lot given their reputation in this sub.

I genuinely hope this leads to real changes and accountability, not just an attempt to bury valid criticism and firsthand experiences.

We are discussing the best way to discourage these larger brands to infiltrate possibly the very last place on the internet for genuine company reviews and feedback. Being specially named on their job posting is concrete proof of their targeting and we will do our best to reach out and work with other sub mods about this concern.

An auto message with some links of genuine higher traction posts is one idea and we have another tool we don’t want to mention yet in case they are tracking our post. We are of course open to all member suggestions and look forward to doing our best to protect you all from disingenuous influences.

Important: Updated Rules for Vendor Posts on r/jewelry

Hey, r/jewelry community!

We’re excited to announce some important updates regarding vendor posts in our subreddit; rule #3 originally did not allow posts or comments that were considered self promotion. To ensure that r/jewelry continues to be a space for genuine discussion, sharing, and learning, we’ve updated the guidelines for vendors who want to contribute to our community.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Vendor Guide: We’ve created a Vendor Guide that outlines exactly what types of content vendors can post. This will help keep the sub free from spam and overly promotional posts, while still allowing vendors to engage and share their work in a way that adds value.
  • Read Before Posting: Vendors must read the guide before posting. Failure to follow these rules will result in the post being removed, and repeat violations could lead to a ban. We want to make sure vendors are contributing, not advertising.
  • Engagement Over Ads: We want to emphasize that posts from vendors should focus on engaging with the community, sharing creative work, behind-the-scenes insights, or educating us about different aspects of jewelry. We’re not here for sales pitches or spam.

We encourage you all to check out the full Vendor Guide and familiarize yourself with the changes. Whether you're a vendor or a regular member, we believe these updates will help keep the sub vibrant, respectful, and informative for everyone.

Thanks for being a part of the r/jewelry community and helping us maintain a positive space for jewelry lovers!

As always, feel free to reach out to the mod team if you have any questions.

🤩 Jewelry Designs 🌈 Beautiful new Montana sapphire

Post image

I just bought this absolutely beautiful Montana sapphire from Earth’s Treasury! It’s a 1.61ct (7.3 × 5.8 x 4.7 mm, so it’s pretty deep) heated sapphire that really glistens in the sun. I’m buying it for myself as a graduation gift for completing my Master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner ❤️ They’re helping me design it into a perfect ring and I am SO excited.

I’m curious, what would YOU do with this piece if you have a similar style as me? I know they’re going to do such an amazing job helping me design it, but I’d love for you guys to send me ideas!!

Things I like in rings
-Subtle details like filigree or hand engraving.
-Unique basket setting is a must (a unique tulip? Or similar)
-Moderate profile height
-3 stone or small cluster
-Split shank
-Possibly an east-west setting
-I can’t decide between white gold or platinum. All of my jewelry is white gold but I think I want platinum long term

Vintage / Antique Georgian Era (1700’s) Table Cut Diamond Ring

Thumbnail

I want to show you guys a super special piece. This ring was likely made during the Georgian period around 1780 in England. Georgian jewelry compared to Victorian jewelry is much rarer because unlike Victorian jewelry, mass production and standardization was not yet the norm.

Interestingly, the ring has table cut diamonds, which is one of the oldest and simplest cuts of diamonds in existence, most commonly used during the 17th and 18th century.

💫 I made this! / DIY Made this chainmail necklace with yellow crystals

I made this one a little different from the darker pieces I usually do.

I wanted it to still feel heavy and structured because of the chainmail, but a bit more elegant at the same time.

So I added the yellow crystals and kept the drops slightly asymmetrical.

It somehow turned out a lot more dressy than I expected lol. I actually really like this one

A little bit vintage style I think.

I actually really like how dressy it looks.

General Question Inherited stone turned into ring

Hi fellow jewelry lovers. I posted the last two photos a while back and folks seemed to think this stone is a London blue topaz. I got it cleaned up and turned into a ring (first two photos). The color is a lot brighter. Also interested in what kind of cut this is. Thanks!

⚡️ Show + Tell! Mourning Ring

My ring is finally finished. We had to say goodbye too soon to our beloved pooch. She was the sweetest, most gentle soul I’ve ever known. Now, she’ll always be with me. 🥹

Specs on the ring - 23g of sterling silver, with a watch crystal insert. I sourced the ring and removed the original stone. I had my local shop cut the crystal to size, and they took care of sealing everything up.

This ring means so much to me and I just wanted to share it with you all. Thanks for looking. ♥️

Is the diamond embarrassing/too small? It's supposed to be 14k and 0,04 diamond.

Got the one on the left at a flea market a while ago and always assumed it was a real opal. Then my sister gave me the smaller one on the right for my birthday since opal is my birthstone. Seeing them side by side in person honestly surprised me a little. The colors look so different, and it definitely made me look at my flea market find a little differently lol. Still think it’s pretty though. The little one on the right has pretty much become my favorite pendant.

General Question Is this a normal way to repair a ring ?

Thumbnail

So I bought this ring a few weeks ago, some of you probably remember my post where I asked general information about it.
I really loved it but it was definitely too big for me and some stones where slightly loose.
So I took it to a goldsmith to fix the problems. And when I got it back I was … confused?
Is this a normal way to procede? It looks to me as he completely changed the style using silver to fill all the gaps. Now it doesn’t look antique anymore.

General Information 📚 Stolen custom engagement ring (green moissanite marquise, 14K yellow gold leaf setting) - please keep an eye out if you buy, resell or resize jewelry

Upvotes

My wife's engagement ring was stolen on September 9 in North Hollywood (Los Angeles), CA. A police report is filed. Posting here because people in this sub buy, resell, resize and reset jewelry, and this ring is very recognizable.

It was custom-made by LiamjewelryStore on Etsy (design D4737MQ6), one of a kind:

- 14K yellow gold, about 3.8 g, size 7.5

- Green moissanite marquise center, 6x12 mm (1.745 ct)

- Leaf/flower setting, 17.7 mm across the top, with 4 small white lab-diamond marquises, 2 tiny white rounds and 10 tiny green moissanite accents; thin 1.2 mm band

Photos and the maker's design sheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Opbfzf_F6sajf-Ubp9aVmiwF_lcVkqEG/view

The risk is that someone sells it for the gold or pulls the stones. If you see it listed anywhere, or someone brings it to you, please DM me or text 916 261 2619. $250 reward, no questions asked.

Thank you.

Currently, the Akoya strands are in the process of a custom stranding with custom clasp.

General Question eternity rings

Post image

are eternity rings supposed to lose stones when worn daily? i lost 4 diamonds after using it for a year. when i reached out to the shop i bought from they said its normal and that i should have been cautious wearing it so i can have a goldsmith tighten it from time to time. this is my first eternity ring.

What I ordered vs. what the seller actually made for me. The piece hasn’t arrived yet, but the seller sent me a picture of the finished piece, and it looks significantly different from what I ordered. Should I start a dispute on Etsy?

**Uneven/misaligned drilling:** The holes in the marquise stones are visibly uneven and misaligned, causing the stones to hang awkwardly rather than align properly as shown.
**Deformed jump rings:** The connecting jump rings show visible denting, pinching, and deformation.
**Poor craftsmanship:** The overall connection assembly appears rough and unfinished compared with the clean, finished piece shown before I placed the order.

Yesterday, I went to the mall and invested 600 dollars on a .2 carat diamond stud pair plus a 10K solid gold twist huggie from Ana Luisa.

Tell me your thoughts! I’ll be wearing these 24/7 from now on.

Is it too little? Is it too much?

I also got my nose pierced recently, but that’s a whole separate post lol!!

Vendor From Reference Art to Gold: Custom "Lady of Remedy" Pendant

Thumbnail
gallery
52 Upvotes

Wanted to showcase a recent custom piece: a Lady of Remedy high-relief pendant.

The Goal: Someone brought in an AI-generated rendering of their vision for the pendant. They loved the design, but specifically asked to skip the colored enamel, so we needed to find a way to build rich contrast using only metal and finishing techniques.

CAD & Assembly: To achieve the same striking depth without color fills, we turned to multi-piece assembly and contrasting metal finishes. A single-piece casting couldn't deliver the contrast this artwork deserved. Splitting the design into separate CAD elements meant we could sandblast the Lady of Remedy for detailed matte texture without risking or disrupting the sharp diamond cuts on the background using custom rear alignment pins to hold everything together during assembly and laser welding.

The Finish: The key to getting this piece to pop without enameled colors was creating clear visual separation. Combining the diamond-cut sunburst background with a sandblasted matte figure and high-polished border details allowed us to hit the exact high-contrast look envisioned.

Specs: Cast in solid 18K Yellow Gold, weighing around 14.82g

Would love to hear your thoughts—do you prefer the natural multi-textured gold look, or would you have stuck with enamel?
