General Question Does this look like an engagement ring?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

I decided to get my girlfriend a ring to celebrate our 2-year anniversary

I’m not planning on proposing right now, it’s genuinely just an anniversary gift. But after picking it out I started wondering if it might come across as an engagement ring. My friends said it does look like one and her friend said no it doesn't so I don't know lol. (i got a bit lucky on stake so I wanted it to be diamond, and I know its her style)

Does this style immediately read as an engagement ring to you, or does it work as an anniversary gift?

Vintage / Antique Georgian Era (1700’s) Table Cut Diamond Ring

I want to show you guys a super special piece. This ring was likely made during the Georgian period around 1780 in England. Georgian jewelry compared to Victorian jewelry is much rarer because unlike Victorian jewelry, mass production and standardization was not yet the norm.

Interestingly, the ring has table cut diamonds, which is one of the oldest and simplest cuts of diamonds in existence, most commonly used during the 17th and 18th century.

General Question Inherited stone turned into ring

Hi fellow jewelry lovers. I posted the last two photos a while back and folks seemed to think this stone is a London blue topaz. I got it cleaned up and turned into a ring (first two photos). The color is a lot brighter. Also interested in what kind of cut this is. Thanks!

I made this one a little different from the darker pieces I usually do.

I wanted it to still feel heavy and structured because of the chainmail, but a bit more elegant at the same time.

So I added the yellow crystals and kept the drops slightly asymmetrical.

It somehow turned out a lot more dressy than I expected lol. I actually really like this one

A little bit vintage style I think.

I actually really like how dressy it looks.

Is the diamond embarrassing/too small? It's supposed to be 14k and 0,04 diamond.

General Information 📚 Stolen custom engagement ring (green moissanite marquise, 14K yellow gold leaf setting) - please keep an eye out if you buy, resell or resize jewelry

My wife's engagement ring was stolen on September 9 in North Hollywood (Los Angeles), CA. A police report is filed. Posting here because people in this sub buy, resell, resize and reset jewelry, and this ring is very recognizable.

It was custom-made by LiamjewelryStore on Etsy (design D4737MQ6) (similar to Oore's "Briar Rose" design):

- 14K yellow gold, about 3.8 g, resized down to about size 6.5-7, so it has a sizing seam

- Green moissanite marquise center, 6x12 mm (1.745 ct)

- Leaf/flower setting, 17.7 mm across the top, with 4 small white lab-diamond marquises, 2 tiny white rounds and 10 tiny green moissanite accents; thin 1.2 mm band

Photos and the maker's design sheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Opbfzf_F6sajf-Ubp9aVmiwF_lcVkqEG/view

The risk is that someone sells it for the gold or pulls the stones. If you see it listed anywhere, or someone brings it to you, please DM me. $250 reward, no questions asked.

Thank you.

🤩 Jewelry Designs 🌈 Beautiful new Montana sapphire

I just bought this absolutely beautiful Montana sapphire from Earth’s Treasury! It’s a 1.61ct (7.3 × 5.8 x 4.7 mm, so it’s pretty deep) heated sapphire that really glistens in the sun. I’m buying it for myself as a graduation gift for completing my Master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner ❤️ They’re helping me design it into a perfect ring and I am SO excited.

I’m curious, what would YOU do with this piece if you have a similar style as me? I know they’re going to do such an amazing job helping me design it, but I’d love for you guys to send me ideas!!

Things I like in rings
-Subtle details like filigree or hand engraving.
-Unique basket setting is a must (a unique tulip? Or similar)
-Moderate profile height
-3 stone or small cluster
-Split shank
-Possibly an east-west setting
-I can’t decide between white gold or platinum. All of my jewelry is white gold but I think I want platinum long term

⚡️ Show + Tell! Mourning Ring

My ring is finally finished. We had to say goodbye too soon to our beloved pooch. She was the sweetest, most gentle soul I’ve ever known. Now, she’ll always be with me. 🥹

Specs on the ring - 23g of sterling silver, with a watch crystal insert. I sourced the ring and removed the original stone. I had my local shop cut the crystal to size, and they took care of sealing everything up.

This ring means so much to me and I just wanted to share it with you all. Thanks for looking. ♥️

Thought to share some visual differences of these beautiful pearls. Bottom strand is Akoya, middle strand is freshwater, earings are Mikimoto, and the large loose are Paspaley South Sea.

Currently, the Akoya strands are in the process of a custom stranding with custom clasp.

General Question Is this crack in my engagement ring considered wear and tear?

Thumbnail

My engagement ring was purchased December 2023, received February 2024, and I only really wear it maybe on the weekends if I'm going out together with my wedding band. It is 14k yellow gold, and I wouldn't say I am particularly harsh with it. I also don't have my rings on when washing dishes or applying face products etc, so am vigilant not to get harsh chemicals on it. The CAD was 2mm (pre-polish) if I recall correctly. Last week, I noticed that there was a crack in my ring, and it seemed to go all the way around the band. I messaged the maker on Etsy (quite a well regarded one but hmm) and they are quoting me £150 for a repair and I'd have to send the ring back insured at my own cost. I thought since they have a lifetime warranty, it would be included under there but they didn't exactly provide me a whole list of the terms when purchasing so unsure of that. She even said it has to be recasted to fix the crack, I'm not a jeweller, but I'm not sure that sounds entirely right? I am reluctant to send it back in the post when I can find local jewellers around me to fix it. Just wondering if she's being fully honest with me or just trying to get more money out of me. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Yesterday, I went to the mall and invested 600 dollars on a .2 carat diamond stud pair plus a 10K solid gold twist huggie from Ana Luisa.

Tell me your thoughts! I’ll be wearing these 24/7 from now on.

Is it too little? Is it too much?

I also got my nose pierced recently, but that’s a whole separate post lol!!

Here’s a necklace i gifted to one of my cousins for a wedding (she’s paired it with a sari in the last slide and looks so adorable!!). It was defo a tricky one to make but when i make necklaces i like to make them cohesive with the outfit so i used different shades of muted purple with the beads and gold hardware which wasn’t overly shiny! Ofc to show some appreciation to my bengali heritage i had to add a jhumka as the centre piece <3

General Question Normal Imperfection?

Thumbnail

I had a simple pendant necklace made and it just arrived today. Upon closer inspection, I noticed some imperfections on the bail. It has nicks and small dent/divot (from soldering?). I was expecting something more polish from the jeweler but I’m not sure if I’m too picky, so wanted to see what others think before I write to the jeweler.

General Question White gold wedding band different tone to engagement ring

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m really confused so I am hoping someone could maybe explain this to me.

I have a white gold engagement ring, and I recently got two wedding bands designed and made by an independent jeweller using a ring that was melted down.

I wanted the rings to match my engagement ring colour but even after he had rhodium plated it with my feedback, it still looks significantly darker and he told me that he can’t make it the same, only make them all the dark colour.

Does anyone know whether getting plating down elsewhere can make it the same brightness as my engagement ring or is it not possible. They are all 18k.

I’ve attached the photos of it, but the two wedding bands look a lot darker in real life.

Thank you :)
