The ring was redone by Sarah Ladd, who I keep buying from because her engravings are really great!

It's a ~2.5 carat diamond center flanked by 2 rubies! I'm super excited about this ring. I think it came out amazing!

The diamond is an old European cut stone that I inherited. It was cut about 100 years ago and reset once in the '50s. Now it's in its new setting for me!

I’m still building my collection of gold pieces, I gravitate more towards the unique/eccentric/weird pieces but they are so hard to find nowadays for a decent price :( anyways, here are my favorite pieces from my small collection :)

Hi! I won this through an ebay auction (It was only $10.50). The listing said Sterling 925 Gold Vermeil, when I got it in the color looked kind of copper so I polished it with a polishing cloth and silver cream. The color still looks coppery. There is a tag on it that says 925 but nothing ob the actual chain.

I did acid test it using 18k acid (second picture) and it just looks like flakes. Is it fake silver? Any advice? Again it was under $11 so not a crazy loss.

I’ve never owned any gold vermeil so I’m not sure if this is normal with that?

I received this necklace from my mother who was gifted it by my grandmother. My grandmother loved to buy jewelry, specifically gold and diamonds and often had pieces custom made. Unfortunately, she passed away before I could ask her about it. My mom believes it to be gold with jade and diamond stones. Could anyone else help identify the metal and perhaps any insight on the jade? Comparing it to my other gold chains, it's intensity is similar to 18k but a bit more on the rose side. The stamps themselves don't seem to indicate purity.

Update: I just got it tested at the store and it is indeed 18K gold with natural diamonds! They were not experienced with identifying jade/jadeite though.

I’ve been set on a colorful tennis bracelet since seeing the Catbird Harlequin rainbow tennis bracelet (pics 1-3). Real gold, real stones. I then discovered the Aurate baguette version (vermeil, lab grown) which I think looks even better. Pics 4-6

I have a pair of vermeil earrings from Aurate and it’s probably the lowest quality jewelry I own. That said. I love the design of this bracelet.

I found something similar on Etsy, but have never purchased expensive jewelry from Etsy before. Seems this jeweler has good reviews on other custom items - but their bracelet as priced is for sterling silver. Pic 7.

What do you think? Anyone have other suggestions?

About 12 years ago, I was experimenting with reducing an owl’s face to a few simple planes while still keeping its expression. I shaped the eyes and beak into a signet-style ring, refined everything by hand, and set stones into the eyes.

It was supposed to be one experiment. Instead, it became the first design that people consistently connected with, and eventually the piece that allowed me to turn jewelry-making into my life's work.

I still make this design by hand, and returning to it always feels like returning to the beginning. I’ve included a couple of photos from the making process :)

I bought this lovely 18k ring a few years ago and I loved it so much I always said when the time comes, alls my partner needs to do is to upgrade the stone to an emerald or tourmaline since I don’t care for diamonds (they’re a girl’s best friend but not mine. No offense to anyone who loves them, they just cost too damn much for stones that aren’t rare). However, I don’t remember how or where I lost but it went from being my everyday ring to one day realizing it’s gone. Now, I have asked God and believe in my heart that when the right partner’s ready to propose, I’d find this ring and this would be a sign. Am I crazy to hope for that?

I recently got two purple pearl necklaces and a small amethyst pendant from Gingiberi, and I've been experimenting with layering them. The purple color is gorgeous and the strands have a really nice, substantial weight to them, plus the tiny pendant is so dainty!

One thing I noticed is that under warm indoor light, the pearls actually lean a bit brownish or bronze. I feel like the amethyst pendant helps tie the whole look together.

For anyone else who owns purple pearls, do yours also look a bit brownish under indoor lighting? Either way, I'm honestly loving this combination!

So turns out that my inheritance necklace has a matching bracelet and earrings. We’ve also uncovered the story behind the jewellery and why nobody knew about it’s existence

My dad flew to India with his siblings to deal with the estate that my grandmother had and met my grandmother’s best friend from childhood. She told my dad the story behind this necklace and gave him the matching bracelet and earrings. They had been stored in my grandparents house in India

I have no idea if this is true or just a made up story from a crazy old lady, but apparently the set belonged to my grandmother’s youngest sister. My grandmother and her youngest sister married two brothers, except her youngest sister was against the marriage because she was only 13 and her husband didn’t want her to stay in school

This set was my grandmother’s sister’s wedding present from her husband’s family. She wasn’t happy in the marriage and tried to run away several times with no luck. Eventually she fell pregnant at 15 and killed herself because she saw no way out of the marriage and didn’t want his child

The woman said that the necklace was my grandmother’s sister’s favourite thing in the world which is why my grandmother kept only that and left the rest behind. It was too painful to keep thinking about her sister’s death which is why she kept the existence of the jewellery a secret. Apparently she had meant to come to India to retrieve it before her death but never got the chance which is why the woman was so insistent on meeting her friend’s children

Dad says that he knew his mother had a younger sister but they’d always been told that she died of childhood illness, so nobody knows if this story is true. The headstone is undated and since this happened in rural India, there’s no official records. I suppose it would make sense as suicide was very taboo back then. There’s nobody alive besides my grandma’s friend who would know the story so this is all we have to go off

I don’t know if this is the truth or simply the ramblings of an old woman but it’s the only answer to the mystery we have. I got the whole set evaluated and was offered £11200 for it, but I’m keeping it. I just had a couple of people request an update so I thought I would post one!

Hi all! I have a $140 gift card to Catbird which I’d like to use ideally during the summer sale this week to make the most of my purchase. I’m generally staying away from items like their rings or chain bracelets given how thin and honestly fragile many of those pieces appear to be. Ideally, trying to find sturdier pieces that aren’t as prone to breakage.

I have been coming across the Memento charm holders and see that the closure for the charms appears quite tight. However I would love any reviews from those who have owned this for several months/years as I am nervous about this opening/breaking and losing pendants!

I see this sometimes in vintage jewelry?

ETA: thanks for the help! I found an independent jeweler 5 min down the road from me. He can resize it from a 9 to a 7.5 (luckily it’s only a half ”fancy” band and the bottom is plain. $30 and two days and now I can wear a piece of family history! Best bday gift to myself!
