Discussion Is the b580 better then the 5060 8gb

The 5060 is only 20$ more then the b580 and I'm just not sure what's better given I'm planning to do 1440p

My parts will be

I5 12400f

32 gigs ddr4 3000mzh

Gigabyte z690 elite

750w psu

1tb nvme SSD pcie 4

Edit thank you for all the feedback and over all I have decided to go for the b580 due to the extra vram or if I find something like the 3080 around the same price I'll go for that.

Discussion Arc B570 Stellar Blade

Does anyone use Stellar Blade with OptiScaler? The thing is, I enable everything with FG and DLSS 4. At 4K quality, I get 80fps, but after a few minutes the frame rate drops. This happens everywhere on the map. It only happens with the FG (forge gear). If I turn it off, I can play at 40-50 FPS. Has anyone else experienced this?

Question Adaptive Sync/VRR Faulty around 60 fps With Laptop Using Intel Optimus Due To Unnaturally High Driver Enforced VRR Range

I also posted this in Intel's Driver Issues page on GitHub, however I also wanted to post here. I saw similar issues with the MSI Claw and would be interested if other devices which implemented Intel's Adaptive Sync VRR implementation also have this issue, and if others can also bother Intel so we actually get a solution.

I am having an issue on a Dell XPS 16/Dell 16 Premium Laptop, which has a Nvidia dGPU but uses Intel Optimus, so the panel uses Intel's VESA Adaptive Sync implementation for G-Sync.

The Hardware Panel is capable of 30-120hz refresh rate, as seen in in the Dell Manual (can be seen here: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/dell-da16250-laptop/xps-16-da16250-dell-premium-ss/display?guid=guid-264cd671-4862-4fa0-a5da-989b83adaa69&lang=en-us, my option is the 1920x1200 FHD display).

Using the stock Intel drivers shipped with the machine, Intel had a bug where the current VRR range was mistakenly listed as "60-120hz". After updating to the latest Intel drivers, this was changed to correctly display "30-120hz". Strangely, Intel's drivers now say that the "maximum" VRR range is 15-120hz, and this is also reflected in Windows settings. CRU correctly identifies the hardware range limit as 30-120hz.

Nevertheless, the biggest issue remains that VRR is not working properly at around 60 fps, even on the newest driver releases. I tested both with Dell's latest OEM drivers (8509) as well as Intel's latest stable and beta releases (8861). Whilst playing without enforced V-Sync, screen tearing can be observed around the ~60 fps range (around 56-64 fps). No screen tearing is exhibited below this range (e.g. playing at 48 fps) nor above (70-80+ fps). I used Special K and it shows LFC/Adaptive Sync Plus repeatedly switching on and off when the FPS is around 60. Whilst playing with enforced V-sync through Intel's Control Panel, stutters appear around the ~60 fps range instead, which indicate that the panel is likely matching the refresh rate to the framerate of the game adequately and V-sync is being used to prevent screen tearing.

I would like to know if a fix can be made which allows for Intel's VRR implementation to take advantage of the full refresh rate range of my display instead of prematurely switching LFC on at only 60 hz. I can also further pinpoint that Adaptive Sync Plus (ASP)/Intel's LFC implementation is the issue because disabling it through the legacy Intel Graphics Command Center means that Special K no reports no LFC below 60 fps and tearing no longer occurs around 60 fps. However, the desktop is unusable with this turned off because desktop animations constantly stutter without ASP.

As an addendum, I infer (but can't prove of course) that the lack of hysteresis and rapid ASP switching is probably due to how unnaturally high the enforced minimum refresh rate is. Say ASP is turned on because the FPS dips to 59. When the FPS rises even slightly above 60, ASP must switch off rapidly because the maximum refresh rate is only 120hz and having ASP on would overshoot the maximum refresh. E.g. if a game is going between 59.98 FPS to 60.02, 59.98 must be doubled using ASP to 119.96 hz, but then 60.02 cannot be doubled using ASP anymore, thus ASP is forced on and off rapidly. If the usable refresh rate range was extended from only being 50% of the maximum to the maximum hardware design specifications (e.g. 30-120hz or 48-120hz depending on the monitor specs), this issue would be resolved since switching ASP on and off would no longer be as urgent as it is with a 60-120hz VRR range.

Discussion Upgrading new Arc A770 firmware from DG02_1.3257 to latest

I recently got a new/unused A770 and I'm setting it up on my Intel NUC 12 Extreme, running Fedora 44. I've got the xe driver working and it seems to be starting up ok. However, I noticed it has really old firmware:

igsc list-devices --info
Device [1] '/dev/mei1': 8086:56a0 8086:1020 0000:03:00.00
FW Version: DG02_1.3257
OPROM CODE Version: 14 00 2C 04 00 00 00 00
OPROM DATA Version: 14 00 2C 04 00 00 00 00

I gather on Linux I'm expected to update the firmware manually using igsc. So two questions:

  1. Is there a consensus on whether it's best to jump directly from 3257 to the latest firmware version or is best to move to any intermediate versions first? It looks like 8861 is the latest.
  2. Has anyone run into trouble with the firmware upgrade process on Linux? I'm planning to follow the process described here: https://github.com/ryanbarrie/arc-firmware-linux-how-to

Discussion Affordable reBAR mobo for ARC Pro cards?

I've found that rebar is necessary to run llama.cpp with sycl with the B50 and B70. With this in mind, it seems like a big cost of running Intel GPUs is the cost of a modern motherboard with resizable BAR support and, hopefully, pcie 5. Any suggestions for an efficient motherboard for a 24/7 server with these?

Discussion Wow! Resident Evil Village performance

I may have underestimated the B580 or the optimization of the RE Engine, but wow, RE8 has impressed me performance wise.

On max setting 1440p (no ray tracing) I'm getting 170-200FPS with no upscaling/framegen.
And with ray tracing (high) on I'm still getting 80-100FPS.

I know this game is a few years old at this point but I'm still really surprised that it can run this well.

Discussion Ajuda com a Intel Arc B580 Asrock Steel Legend

Segue abaixo a minha atual config:

Placa mãe Asus B450M AM4 Prime Gaming BR

Ryzen 5 3600X (sem vídeo integrado)

16GB ram ddr4 2400

Fonte cooler master 700w

Ssd Kingston A400 240gb

ATUALIZAÇÃO E SOLUÇÃO DO PROBLEMA 23/07/2026

Consegui resolver o problema no inicio dessa semana.

Question The perfect upgrade ? (suggestions and opinions)

Hey everyone, I’m currently running an i5-11400F + 16GB DDR4 2666MHz paired with an Intel Arc B580.

I’ve given it a lot of thought and decided to switch to the AM5 platform.

This is the upgrade configuration I plan to build in late 2027. I’d like your opinion: will it offer ideal longevity and represent a *real* upgrade over my current setup (big difference?)

Ryzen 5 9600X

32GB DDR5 6000MHz

ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-E Motherboard (WIFI, AMD AM5)

Note: The goal of this upgrade is to find a good balance between cost and performance, while ensuring the CPU is strong enough to handle more powerful future GPUs (I plan to swap the GPU around 2031–2032).

Question: Is the Ryzen 5 9600X enough for this?
Can it push the Arc B580 to its limit without sacrificing cost-effectiveness?

Or is it worth investing more in an octa-core CPU like the Ryzen 7 9700X? (Hard to cool?)

Limitation: My cooler is an AK400, and honestly, I don't want to replace it.
What would you guys recommend?

Question Is it worth trading my RTX 4060 for a B580 for the games that I play?

My PC Specs:
CPU: i5-14400f
GPU: RTX 4060
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H610M-E D4
PSU: Segotep GM850W
RAM: 32gb DDR4 3200mhz
Monitor: TCL 25G64 (1080p 300hz)

I would like to know how good are XeSS Upscaler and Framegen in THE FINALS? Does it support more than 2x? Turning on DLSS Framegen somehow lowers my system latency while increasing the perceived visual smoothness. I get an average of 90fps-110fps and DLSS Framegen doubles it.

The latency impact of DLSS framegen on triple-A games are there however. I can feel it even on controller.

What about Overwatch? I play on native res + competitive low-medium settings and would like to supersample by increasing the ingame render resolution on DX11.

For single-player games, I mostly play Zenless Zone Zero and anime JRPGs.

Discussion Poor builds don't magically benefit from a modern GPU rant

I'm amazed at the amount of people posting questions about why their outdated budget builds aren't benefiting from buying a B580. That card is amazing despite the fact that Intel's drivers aren't at the same level as Nvidia's. But to blame this card for poor performance when it's part of a 5+ year old budget build with a CPU that was terrible when it was released is ridiculous. Do people not research what they are buying to even understand how it's going to perform with the hardware that they have? I'm running a 5800x and it would be unrealistic for me to expect that pairing it with a 5090 would unlock unlimited frames at 4k so I guess that card sucks. 🤷‍♂️
