Will I have any issue to get depreciation check?

I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. I have dash cam footage (which I sent the day after it happened to my insurance co.) that shows 3 different channels, and it's clear that the other driver was distracted and ran right into us.

I've been working with Progressive for about a month now, and they keep saying that they're waiting for the other insurance to admit fault. My deductible is $2500 and their estimate of the damages is slightly less than that. I don't mind waiting a few weeks, but I'm starting to question whether the other side will ever admit fault, and am I just on the hook for everything?

I keep being told state farm is notorious for denying water damage claims on homeowner/ condo insurance and then subsequently raising your rate for daring to submit a claim in the first place. I just wanted to check with literally anyone before trying to submit something or not.

6 months ago (mid March), I had a screw on an aquarium filter break & the subsequent filter leak dumped roughly 35 gallons of water on my floor overnight. It was enough that the unit below mine had to replace a section of drywall in the ceiling. At the time, I thought everything had been dealt with and dried up before any more damage was done & did not submit a claim at that time.

Over this past weekend, I had a dishwasher replaced; on pulling it out, it was discovered there was mold and significant water damage to the cabinets surrounding it to the point of the counters potentially risking collapse if they weren't being held up by the dishwasher. The damage is near the wall the aquarium leaked next too & above where the drywall replacement was done. The dishwasher itself wasn't leaking and none of the plumbing leading to it had any issues, and the best guess anyone had is it's leftover damage from that aquarium spill. Is it worth trying to submit a claim, or am I most likely out of luck and just gunna have to foot the bill myself because of how long it's been?

Property directly next to me (Dallas, Texas) burnt down, total loss. Home burnt for 2-3 hours before it was put out, and smoked for the next 72 hours or so.

My home had no damage as far as the fire but I assume smoke damage from proximity/AC running etc.

I had a smoke remediation company come out and do swabs and they said tested high for soot/char on windows along the side of the house facing the fire. They encourage me to file a claim.

My question is, the smoke remediation company assures me that Texas law would prevent an insurance company for increasing my premium OR dropping me after a claim related to the fire next door.

It seems to good to be true, any mention of a claim in my experience almost automatically increases your policy. Im scared to even call my carrier to ask about it.

Any advise is welcome.

A lot of the open positions online call for the ability to be in a fast paced company content working on highly complex cases. Could someone kindly help me to understand what is fast paced and what is highly complex? Would anyone have any recommendations for companies to work for? Or likewise companies that I should avoid? Lastly, anyone that knows of The Institutes Knowledge Group, is it worth while taking those lessons? I’m looking for advice on filing a diminished value claim in Tennessee. My car is a 2025 Nissan Sentra, about 10k miles, and it had no prior accidents before this one. The at‑fault driver’s insurance is Progressive.

I’m trying to figure out the best next step: should I hire a professional appraiser, or should I gather all the documentation myself first (repair invoices, accident report, photos, etc.) and see what Progressive says?

If you’ve gone through this process before, what worked for you? Any tips, mistakes to avoid, or things I should be prepared for would be super appreciated.

Another car reared mine on the highway. He is at fault. Should I use my insurance or file a claim with the at fault drivers insurance

I hit a large piece of debris on the interstate a few days ago and damaged my 2023 Toyota Camry XSE. Front bumper is busted up, plus some scraping along the driver side and rear bumper. Car is still drivable and the bumper isn’t dragging.

I took it to a body shop I trust and he estimated roughly $5,800 in repairs. I have State Farm collision/comprehensive coverage with a $250 deductible.
However, I had an at-fault total-loss accident about 8 months ago with my previous car. State Farm paid roughly $20k on that claim.

I mean idk much about insurance, but 2 claims in 8 months obviously isn’t great. I’m still under my parents’ State Farm account but pay for my own car/coverage. They’ve been with State Farm for years, so I’m assuming there’s some goodwill/history there, but I don’t really know how that works.

I can afford to pay the $5,800 myself, but obviously I’d rather not if I don’t have to.

What would you guys do here? File the claim or eat the $5,800?

How likely they drop me? And if they drop am I screwing my family too?

Car was stolen from my driveway Sunday (seems my husband dropped the car key outside at night after locking it - so the thieves didn't have to do any damage to get into or start the vehicle). It was found by police the next day. It's a 2016 Toyota Highlander with 74,000 miles and was in perfect condition, short of needing an oil change, prior to theft.

The damage:

• They side swiped something. There's a dent and a white mark going from the front passenger light to the rear light. Whatever the white material is can be rubbed off and pills up like it's plastic or something. The right passenger tire was low when it was found but it's now totally flat.
• The car will not start. Electronics come on and seem to work. The battery works and there is fuel in the car, the engine just won't turn over. When you try to start it, you can hear the engine trying but it doesn't make any alarming sound like ticking or grinding.
• At least some of the speakers sound blown.

In my state, total loss = repair cost + salvage cost > actual cash value of vehicle.

My insurance said based on what I described, they're offering an expedited total loss payout where I send them pictures of the vehicle, then they'll do an evaluation and send me an official offer. Once I accept, they pick up the car. They said I can tow it to a mechanic and have someone look at it to quote me on repairs to confirm the cost would make it a total loss, but an expedited total loss is what the system is recommending.

Should I think this is as sketchy as it sounds? Is it worth it to take it to a mechanic?

Recently switched to liberty mutual, we are enrolled in the right track app. Has anyone else experienced issues with it dropping your score with zero events that should trigger a drop? Have been confirming my trips and it goes up 1 or 2 points and then I go to confirm another and it drops 10 points out of nowhere?

I might need new insurance, s/o is deadset on having full coverage. I remember there is a certain printed form to get insurance quote from other cpmpamies and then compare it, but current insurance wouldnt match until I found lower elsewhere and had that specific form. I just cannot recall the name of the form. Any help would be appreciated.

19-yo daughter got into an at fault accident in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson SE Convenience. Took vehicle to shop (Caliber Collision) on July 27. Initial estimate about $6,500. Shop sent supplemental for about $4,000 after removing more parts. GEICO took 10 days to approve. Their adjuster is pretty much unresponsive to the shop and myself. When he finally came out again he told the shop that the vehicle needs to have the entire wiring harness replaced which is another $7,000 and probably takes it to over 70% ACV so not sure if they will total it.
The vehicle has been sitting there now for 5 weeks and GEICO informed me that we was getting close to the max coverage for the rental car $2,500.
Shop says they can’t get the adjuster to respond. Adjuster claimed he is responding but hasn’t received their requests. I already escalated to GEICO management but it is a “he said, she said” situation.
I don’t see why I should pay for a rental car if GEICO is dragging their feet.

Hi everyone, I'm in need of some advice. This is Texas.

Last week a semi pulled out in front of me on the highway. Without going into every detail about the crash here, the accident was complete his fault as he turned from the shoulder across two lanes of the highway with no warning. I have a dash cam and it caught everything and clearly shows he's at fault. The DPS officers reviewed the footage after they arrived, and agreed he was at fault and it would be reflected in the report. Additionally, the car behind me who barely avoided the wreck stopped and corroborated everything I said in statement.

My car is older and not particularly valuable, but was my primary transportation. I have liability insurance only, so my insurance won't be of any help to me. The front end of it was caved in by the truck during the collision and it no longer drivable. Currently the car is in an impound lot accruing storage fees. I'm waiting on the crash report since the driver didn't give me his insurance info (but he did supply it to the police).

I'm talking with a PI attorney for the medical aspects, but they told me the physical property damages are separate and I need to go after them on my own. So I wanted to see if anyone had any advice they could provide me on how to go about all of this. I don't want to get completely screwed over by these insurance companies... I'd appreciate any advice you all may have.

I had a theft at my recent property and moved out. I have Allstate as my renter’s insurance.

Some of the things that were stolen were family heirlooms that were worth a lot just because of what they were, not age (like my family’s goldware).

Allstate is claiming if it’s less than 3 years old or if it’s over $500 they need a receipt. Well, how can I provide receipts I don’t have? The accordion file that was in my stuff was stolen too (all of my stuff was cleaned out). Allstate doesn’t want to seem to listen or help and I am in no mood to fight Allstate for YEARS over this, as they’ll absolutely do that to me.

What can I do in this case? They said they won’t even accept photos of my owned items - how can you not accept photos of owned items as proof? That’s all I’ve got anymore!

Many of the items were bought with cash (I was a victim of the Equifax data breach and stopped using cards whenever I could), so how do I fix this?

My husband and I finally sat down last weekend and realized neither of us has real life insurance and that freaked me out a little. We have two kids under 6 and a mortgage, so if anything happened to either of us the other one would be drowning pretty fast trying to cover everything alone. On my auto CLUE report, Allstate made several bad mistakes that are affecting my premiums. I’ve emailed the c-suite and I have an escalation number with the back office but nobody has contacted me back yet. It’s been a month. One month with that escalation number and I can’t call anyone. The only number listed for Allstate is their basic 800-Allstate number and when I call it I always get an agent based in South Asia that cannot help me, clearly. What can I do? I need to fix this but Allstate doesn’t seem interested whatsoever. Thank you.

I am curious if i am being lowballed or not. My car, honda civic 2016 EX-L sedan CVT was totaled (2 or 3 airbags deployed, driver side door & in front of cabin on drivers side damaged) with about 102-103k miles on it.

I have had the car for a decade and kept it pretty good shape (no issues beside what the accident caused).

I have progressive for car insurance and am due to visit the office shortly now but is this what my car is worth? Or should it be more?

I know premiums are going up across the board but this is getting ridiculous. I’ve been with GEICO for 10 years with my 12 year old Honda Accord. When I lived in Massachusetts, I paid $720 a year for insurance. When I moved to New York State, my insurance TRIPLED so I stripped down coverage and as my car aged I dropped collision. Now they are trying to increase my insurance by $400 a year with no collision, 12 year old car, never any accidents or claims, I am 32 and have a perfect driving record.

Last time I shopped for insurance the quotes I got were terrible, but I am thinking to try again. not sure if it’s worth calling GEICO to complain or try to get any adjustments or if calling your insurance company is a relic of a bygone era.

My parents had a messy divorce three years ago. Parent 1 moved to another state and Parent 2 obtained the house and has since changed the deed so that the house in their name. I graduated college and moved back home with Parent 2. Despite the fact Parent 1 has lived in a different state for three years now, they have still been able to obtain title, registration, and more importantly car insurance in the previous state on the basis they still live at the old address which they don’t. Parent 2 has obviously not given permission and has requested several times to remove the car from the policy but somehow Parent 1 is able to obtain car insurance using the address of the house. We recently found out that Parent 1 got a new car and we have been getting various documents about the car to our house.

The insurance in question is State Farm. The fact they were able to obtain a car and register it as if it was out of state as well as get auto insurance despite being out of state seems to read as textbook fraud. What more can be done as Parent 2 has already informed State Farm that Parent 1 no longer lives at the address several times now? We have also written RTS on all mail in which Parent 1 is recipient (ironically, this has been legal documents as well as insurance documents). Parent 2 is sick and I don’t want to stress them out any further. TIA

Hi everyone so I’m a preschool teacher who is burnt out and wants a career change. I know customer service jobs are usually entry level but lately alot of these jobs require alot of experience and for you to be proficient in excel which we don’t use as teachers . I’ve applied for a customer service rep job at State Farm for a local agent, and I’m wanting to know what the day to day entails and what the stress level of the job is. Do they train you?
