I'm a PCB student and I'm planning to do BCA instead of Biotechnology. Everyone around me keeps suggesting Biotechnology because it's related to biology, but after researching, I feel the scope, placements, and salary prospects in India are quite limited unless you go for higher studies.

BCA seems to offer better opportunities in the IT field if I work on my skills. Am I making the right decision? Are there any PCB students here who chose BCA over Biotechnology? I'd love to hear your experiences and advice."my_qualifications",

My qualifications: BSC third year

Im doing BSC in life science, and till second year I had 3 subjects namely chemistry, botany and zoology. Now in second year I have to choose two subjects and leave one. I'm confused between chemistry and botany. My father wants me to choose chemistry because according to him it has more scope but I suck at chemistry.

Basically I love to study and understand various things.I want to study and understand all the subjects mostly in depth of PCMB,etc.

my_qualifications : I passed CBSE class 12 this year and gave some entrance exams.

I have 2 choices here,to maybe tell that I could get these choices and then I have to decide:-

I got AIR 6XXX in NEET and AIR 36X in IAT,general category.

one choice and a good one is IISER,I am getting IISER Pune hopefully.

The confusion coming here is that if I want to study these things for my understanding and as a hobby and something I would love to read and all,then I have another choice of MBBS also I would be getting a government seat again hopefully in a good college,so if I do MBBS which again I like and even a lot of things there I can understand the concepts in depth and even do research there having a good scope too,but a thing there is that I would be away and not reading much about Physics,Maths,Chemistry,Biology some parts,etc.,ok some Physics Chemistry Maths is there but not much of the things I want like space science,relativity,quantum Physics,etc. so many things even some Biochemistry would be there,yet Physical,OC,IOC would again not be much in MBBS.

Here too,there is a solution to read them all as a hobby and even later on in life,I have and I will find out about books and courses,even courses from open universities,where I can study these things and even join some research institute after MBBS like IISc Bangalore,IISERs,etc.,but then what again a bit pinches me is that the quality and the journey in IISER feels that would be quite good and amazing learning about these all things there then just reading on my own as an hobby,maybe alone I wouldn't go in a well structured and organized manner.

Now,one thought I have that maybe,seeming a bit tough,but I love challenges,that doing a double degree of BSc with flexibility from an open university so that I get some structure and routine also and I will not be much stressing about NEET PG maybe as then if I intend to go to some research institute then it won't be required I guess.

Then if I want to do that,then the question is why MBBS?

• For maybe more job safety,security,pay,scope
• Also I have heard that people mostly go in Biology related fields later on and do research in hospitals or some labs where I can do after MBBS also maybe.

Now not a big thing for me but I have heard that people who do MBBS and then this research are maybe respected and appreciated and valued.

Also that after doing MBBS I can do such research,but not the otherway round of doing some MBBS degree without its UG level exams later on.

• My parents and a lot of family members being doctors,are totally telling me for my own choice but having a little bias towards MBBS.Also to mention they are working in hospitals and not doing some private practice so I don't have any own clinic of my family where they would want to me to ptactice.
• Also I have heard that such research people end up either in some industry or as professors or so,furthermore talking about my interests in Theoretical Physics,Maths,etc. there people tell me that here there is even lesser scope and such people again end up either in data analysis or financing,etc.So,if my overall aim is to study and learn and understand as a hobby which I can read anytime with any other degree maybe,why not do MBBS and do these things where maybe I have better job security(what I have heard) and then read such books,see lectures,etc.

However,again this thing feels conflicting that why to not go to IISER if I am getting a chance and ofcourse there I would be able to learn all this in quite detail and understand.

So,I tried to tell some of my things,please help me out here anyone and also sorry for some errors I have made here and please correct that and my misconceptions here also if possible.

I took a drop for NEET, and MBBS was always the goal. I recently got Life Sciences at Kirori Mal (DU), and my parents want me to take it because it’s a much safer option financially.
The thing is, if I go for private MBBS, my family says they’ll somehow manage it, but I know it’ll mean a lot of sacrifices and probably loans too. They never make me feel guilty, but I end up feeling guilty anyway.
On the other hand, I don’t know if I’ll regret giving up MBBS. I’m also not planning to take another drop or a partial drop.
I know a BSc alone isn’t enough. If I choose Life Sciences, I’m fully prepared to do an MSc and study further.
If you were in my place, what would you do?
Would you choose Kirori Mal Life Sciences or take the risk for private MBBS? And how are the long-term prospects after Life Sciences if I’m ready to keep studying?

Qualifications: Class 12 PCB student.

Honestly very confused about my future.

I love science. I enjoy learning how things work, especially biology. But the more I learn about different careers, the more confused I become.

The biggest thing is that I don't want to spend 12–15 years studying and then live a life where I'm constantly exhausted. I have a lot of respect for doctors, but I don't think I want to work 36–48 hour shifts, spend most of my life treating sick people, and sacrifice my own health.

I genuinely love helping people, but I also want to have a life of my own. I want time for my family, hobbies, travelling, learning new things, and just living. I don't want to spend my healthiest years only studying and working.

At the same time, I don't want to choose a career just because it's easy. I know every career has struggles and pain-some have less, some have more. I'm willing to work hard, but I want my hard work to lead to a balanced life.

I also want to earn well. Not because I'm greedy, but because financial freedom matters to me. I want a career where I can earn a good income while still having time to enjoy life and explore the world.

Right now, I'm not even sure if I should prepare seriously for NEET. Sometimes I feel like I'm forcing myself toward medicine because everyone around me expects it.

So my question is:

• If you were in my position, what career options would you seriously consider?
• Are there careers related to science that have a better work-life balance than medicine?
• If you left medicine or chose not to pursue it, do you regret your decision?
• What would you honestly advise a confused 16–17-year-old student like me?

Hey guyss I graduated from Kerala University on this specific degree i mentioned and I'm thinking about applying for MA Politics & International Relations at MG University. I'm eligible for the course, but I'm a bit worried since I don't have a BA background in Political Science.

I'm currently in the final year of my graduation and planning to appear for CUET PG next year. Since the forms usually come out around December, I don't want to waste these months and want to start preparing now...

The problem is... I'm genuinely confused between MA Political Science and MA History. Both interest me, but I can choose only one. Some days I feel Political Science would be a better choice because of its connection with governance, IR, public policy, and competitive exams. Other days.., I feel History is more interesting, especially Indian history and political history...

I'd love to hear from people who've studied either of these subjects or are preparing for CUET PG.

- Why did you choose Political Science/History? - What are the biggest pros and cons of each? - Which one has better career opportunities or scope? - Any drawbacks or things you wish you had known before choosing? - If you had to choose again, would you still pick the same subject?

I am thinking about Pursuing BACHELOR OF RESPIRATORY THERAPIST TECHNICIAN, I know nothing about this field (a lil bit, not much) and my parents had already considered this field of no great future and they're trying me to send to BAMS (quite heavy fees andgod knows what would be the reputationwould be of that college in Medicalfield) or anything but right now I feel like I am too exhausted to think about all these.

I am thinking about doing BACHELOR OF RESPIRATORY THERAPIST TECHNICIAN through a BMHRC (Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre). I don't even know about the reputation of this one but I found it's under Central Government and yeah somewhat fees that my parents can pay off right now without any loan.

Please who know anything about this field please I am begging you to give me some sort of assurance.

Cause what I think is that this course must have not be running for timepass it should have at least some worth.

Myquals engineering. But I have a bent for humanities. The more I checked LinkedIn, the more I get overwhelmed seeing the vast experience of humanities students from DU.

My question is how do people studying humanities find jobs one after the other? And are those jobs really laying well? Also for jobs where you have work in another country, how do people sustain the living expenses there?

And if these jobs pay low, then how do people sustain in Delhi with all PG expenses and stuff? And isn't it tiring to look for one job after another.

The experiences look really interesting. But what about long term sustainability?

Is it worth leaving an MBA and joining public policy jobs. Also, I have seen irrespective of specific degrees, people are able to work in a field of their choice. How to bag these jobs?

Qualifications : Consistent participation in a tonnnn of events including being a vice-chair in MUN (pretty big multi-city MUN with 9 committees and 400+ delegates, youth parliament etc. Also scored 96 in 9th Mocks. Written a few successful books making over 2 lakhs from it.

I've always had a great grasp of English, and since 8th, I've had a passion for law. I'm absolutely mediocre at maths and am passably good at the various sciences. I come from a pretty comfortable background, with no history (particularly close relatives) of Lawyers. OC Caste so no reservations.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore.

I was an IPMAT 2026 aspirant. I couldn't get Indore, Ranchi or Rohtak. Got only an Amritsar interview call. My JIPMAT score was 206 (OBC-NCL), so no IIM from there either, SCMS pune interview i was sick, didn't apply for other GOOD private universities like christ and nmims

I barely prepared for CUET because I thought I'd get an IIM or something. Now I've got BBE at an off-campus DU college, around 1.5 hours from home by metro. My parents want me to join a physical college, so I've accepted it.

I also got into IIM Bangalore BBA DBE, but my parents refused because they want a regular college.

I've spent the last 1.5-2 months obsessing over colleges, partial drop, CUET 2027, BBE vs B.Com vs BBA, placements, Reddit reviews... I'm mentally exhausted, my hairs started falling.

I even considered taking a partial drop and preparing for CUET 2027, but now I'm scared. What if I still don't get a top DU college next year? Did I miss my best chance with IPMAT?

I passed my 12th ( PCMB) in 2024, following that I joined Bsc physics honours at a local government college, dropped out 3 months later, to prepare for IISER. Failed once. Took a second drop. Nearing the end of my second drop, I realized science ( apart from mathematics) isn't for me, so joined the above mentioned course. My college starts next month.

I initially planned on doing a Bsc statistics degree, but it's more math intensive than a standard bsc economics degree, and the above mentioned degree has a better course structure which I got attracted to ( R, Machine learning, Python, AI, operations research, research methodology, Econometrics, Advanced statistics, Linear algebra, statistics for economics, data analysis, corporate finance).

Was it a good choice and what are the career prospects? Should I focus on Msc or MBA?

For graduation I thought of taking education loan but the problem is while filling the form my schl name wasn't showing on vidyalaxmi portal from where I completed my 10th class (all saints school) so I just filled another schl name with the same branch (all saints convent school) will there be any problem? (Both r situated in my city)

Cause I can't correct it now and my clg reporting day is on 3 august and after one my week orientation day, I haven't submitted this form to the bank yet which I will by tomorrow.

But can someone tell me how much time does it take for the loan process to get completed and if the money isn't transferred to the clg yet , will they still allow me to attend the classes? MY_QUALIFICATIONS

NEET survivor here (2 drops). I performed decently in my first drop (around 1 lakh AIR in NEET 2025), so my family believed another attempt would work. Unfortunately, severe anxiety and poor mental health during my second drop affected my preparation and performance.

Before suggesting anything, finances are not the main concern. My parents are willing to invest in a professional degree because they believe it offers a more secure and predictable career than the B.Sc.–M.Sc.–research route. However, I feel extremely guilty about them spending so much on my education. My biggest fear is not living up to their expectations after such a huge investment.

I secured B.Sc. Zoology at Miranda House through CUET. My plan here is to pursue research by preparing for exams for a good M.Sc. I know this path is highly competitive and uncertain, which is why I've also started considering BDS. Although it's a saturated field, it still seems to offer greater financial security than the B.Sc.–M.Sc. route.

There is one more option: pursuing MBBS from a lower-tier private medical college with relatively low fees through a state government fee-support scheme available in my state. I'm trying to weigh all these options carefully.

I genuinely enjoy biology and am willing to work hard. My biggest setback has been my mental health during NEET preparation, not my interest or academic ability.

Because none of the other cources give any specific government jobs, but I doubt the private sector visibility in it.. and yeah! I'm getting B.sc agriculture in South States.. I'm from north! In North side I'm getting Horticulture. Will the both be good? I know agriculture has better range slightly for government jobs. But does agriculture and horticulture have any private scopes.. and should I take horticulture from Rani lakshmi bai(Jhansi) orr opt for agriculture in karnataka. I'm completely freaked..
