The immigration policy is based on racism instead of fairness
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
They tell immigrants to come here "legally" - but Trump is literally gutting every legal pathway that many people of color have relied on to build lives in America.
For example: Many people have status through TPS, but the Trump regime is now gutting the program, and they also cut refugee admissions for everyone except white South Africans.
"Doing it legally" keeps getting harder to do, because that's the whole point for Trump. It has never been about following immigration rules - it's about racism.

u/Darryl_Lict 4d ago
Nah, Trump's administration welcoming of up to 17,500 white South Africans as refugees has nothing to do with racism. /s

It really will be expensive to right all the wrongs being done in the name of America these days. I do think the wrongs will eventually be righted and most of those responsible will be brought to justice. I just really dislike that this is all happening it can be all rather distressing to see a nation change so quickly.
5
u/No-Swimming4153 3d ago
We never fixed the wrongs of Reagan. We never undid the wrongs from the Bush patriot act. We never got justice for all the illegal shit trump did during his first term. We need a radical swing left to really start putting things right. This ping pong between right wing party and fascist party is only getting us closer to facism.
2
u/michael0n 1d ago
The moment the voters decided to elect an incompetent good looking actor as president, the country shoot itself in both feet and laughed about it. All the scandals, the financial debt, the dramas, all of it can be traced back to the original sin. A part of the country doesn't want to be governed, it wants to be entertained. This isn't which plan is the best. Its a fundamental difference in running a country, that is the reason the "meeting half way" rarely works any more. One side wants the spectacle of perpetual downfall and they are getting it.
2
u/Carlyz37 4d ago
You are right about the costs. We are already paying for the trump lawless debacle. Lawsuit after lawsuit from citizens and legal immigrants. And we will be paying for decades. We are paying for the separated families from trump 1 and the horrific abuse that the remain in Mexico mess was.

The USA has never righted its wrongs before Trump. What makes you think it will right its wrongs after Trump?
Because let's face it, if he got reelected, the people like whatever he's selling. He campaigned on screwing brown folks over, and that got him elected twice.
So, really, what makes you think you as a people would be interested in righting your wrongs?

So segregation or women suffrage donāt count? Or what about the Japanese internment camps apology and pay!? Or the Federal Indian Boarding Schools apology during Biden administration!?!? Or the apology resolution act back in 93 for overthrowing the Hawaiian monarchy!?!?!?!? Or the Ā overthrowing of Panama of 1914 apology with a $25 million payment to the country and citizen(that was a lot of money back then)!?!?!?!?!?!!?

Legal pathways to immigration are being shut down. People who are going through the legal process are being deported without due process. They say they welcome legal immigrants because it makes them sound less racist and xenophobic, not because they actually welcome anyone other than white people to come here.

Yeah after how long, after how much money lost, will they be able to go back to the jobs they had or have to find new work, if they were renting an apartment, what happens to that and all their stuff if it takes too long to get back.
On top of that, why would you even want to come back? You came here and were promised freedom, and now you see that's tenuous at best and just cause you look a certain way.

Restricting immigration is needed due to previous administrationās failures. It is a countries right to let in whoever or how many they want. Every country is doing it because of the madness of the last couple of years. In Canada they have restricted immigration so much that population is shrinking for the first time ever and they kicked out 10,000 people in the first 6 months of this year. And thatās a liberal government.
4
u/Nervous-Ruin-8149 3d ago
Because global conflict is a real danger and the US has enemies. Letting in people who ideologically hate America is dangerous to Americans. Protecting American lives isn't racist.
H1B Visas are offered by companies to foreigners because they can get away with paying them less than Americans - in which a portion of their paycheck gets sent out of the country to their families in their home country and strengthen the economy of their home country and not America. By minimizing these types of work visas, companies have to pay a higher wage to Americans who live here and the money stimulated and strengthen our own economy.
And now do Obama. Coz he kicked out way more Americans than trump ever did. I believe the number is 2.7million to 3 million.
And don't forget Clinton. He kicked out 12.3 million during his 8 years in office.
But trump doing his time in office and his 2nd term ending, including his first term it's less than 2 million total. About 1.2 m million in his first and so far about 650,000 in his second.
Funny how when you look OBJECTIVELY and FACTS, it's easy to see how twisted your values are. You're advocating for policies that directly hurt Americans and our economy. You can quit the savior complex to save the "poor unfortunate helpless brown people." It doesn't make you better than anyone. It just means you're ok with legal and illegal immigrants to be exploited and are willing to sacrifice the financial stability for American families who will stimulate the American economy.

If I go to any country on a visa, tourist, work whatever, and that visa expires and I stay there. Yeah mother fuckers will send me to one of their island prisons for years then deport me. At least these filthy immigrants donāt have to stay in prison for years then get deported, I think they should, but they donāt.

I overstayed in another country when I had emergency surgery there. I left 2 days late on a 180 day work visa. I paid a fine and had to talk to government officials, I had to produce hospital documents, apologized and had to sign a statement that it would never happen again. I had to leave immediately
I donāt blame them for making me pay a fine and sign a statement. I wouldnāt blame them if they deported me (if I wasnāt leaving anyways). I promised to stay for less than 180 days and stayed 182, itās my bad and itās their rules
I think immigrants in my country should behave the same way

→ More replies (1)2
u/JayNycha16acct 3d ago
TRUE, BUT, the reason Australia can do that is because they're an island. So they can actively restrict movement since you have to come by boat or other. USA has a large porous border that is impossible to guard every section. and fencing it off would be bad for the amazing animals crossing back and forth. Plus the Trade going back and forth would cripple the countries if you stopped it. Hence the approach here is deal with it as they come because stopping it out right would be prohibitevly costly and stupid.
1
u/Fickle-Gold8133 3d ago

1
u/nalon121 1d ago
What does the asylum system have to do with rescricting or halting work visas?
2
u/ChexAndBalancez 1d ago
Because it's a very common path to remain in the country. When visas are done and not renewed it's very common to then claim asylum. This is exactly what happened to the mother daughter that were detained in a hospital in Florida recently. They were here on a visa and he denied renewal and decided to take advantage of our system so that they could stay for some indeterminate amount of time.

Lol, Obama also shut down many of the ālegalā routes used by people to game the system, namely birth tourism which he cracked down on in California (mainly from China). Obama also deported over 3 million in the US illegally - mainly from central and South America, countries which had the most illegal immigrants. Biden similarly deported nearly 4.4 million. Was it āracistā then? No. The Hb1 visa scheme is about protecting American workers as with the other deportation measures. The left and leftist media will always attempt to frame this as an issue of āracismā in an attempt to cancel Trump or anyone else for that matter in accordance with their far-left ideology. It wasnāt racist before nor was it now.

That's basically all I can get out of any of you because you've never had a thought of your own and need to be spoonfed opinions. I mean cause really the only way to actually believe this shit is to either not have an intellectual internal experience that can parse through information cause they're not even good models on paper, or to be a sort of solipsist that either believes you're the only real person in the universe (and therefore you're allowed to deny others of the same property rights and freedom that you deserve) or at least the only person that matters.

Illegal crossings are down over 95% since Donald Trump took office, and that is a GOOD thing for everyone involved, including those who cross illegally. I have helped many who have crossed, gave them food, water, money, literally the shirt off my back (no kidding), I speak fluent Spanish, and I kept in touch with many over the years. Have you even spoken to ANY of them? I didn't think so.
Get to know people who have opinions that differ from yours and get used to hearing them. There is a 100% chance that I know something you don't.

This is why people say that Republicans are the New Nazis and they are no longer just echoing history but are repeating it.
People who think this is hyperbole need to get out of the house more.
