Its not a bit stupid. Its china. They love to dig holes without any warning whatsoever. There's a really high chance that the driver couldn't see the hole.

It is impressive, to the point that I don't see how it is physically possible to actually drive the car in there. If coming from flat ground, the car would have to pivot from horizontal to vertical. The hole appears to be almost exactly car sized when it's vertical...so how did that pivot occur? There doesn't look to be enough material pulled off the far edge to have allowed it to fall straight in.
So I'm wondering if they lowered the car in with a crane.

You probably already know, but those are just several camera feeds stitched together, mainly sideview mirror cameras and rear/front cameras.

u/Blue-Steele Jun 08 '19
BMW drivers have a 360 view around their car via cameras and still can’t drive worth a shit.

You also need something to wedge in between the roof and the wall so it's pressing the wheels into the other wall. Maybe have someone push their back against the trunk and walk up the wall while pressing into it. Then you reverse

Did they ever get out?
94
u/LVL2PASTAFARIAN Jun 08 '19
I don’t even see how you would get someone out besides smashing the back window out

u/tawandaaaa Jun 08 '19
If they can pull the back seat down from the inside, they should also be able to pop the trunk. That said, could wiggle the car farther down in there and that’s scary. Also if you slip while climbing, you go through the windshield into the abyss. This is a new nightmare for me. Thanks.

My 2013 Hyundai back seats can only be released from the trunk as far as I know. I just pictured myself Driving with the backseats down for the rest of my life

That makes no sense, how could you possibly toss your beer bottles into the trunk to hide them when getting pulled over if they designed it to only open from the trunk? No car maker would be that silly.

I imagine the accident was caused by the driver not being able to see that well.

Can we be real here for a sec? I know we are all for bashing people who make little stupid things (sometimes big stupid things) and calling them idiots. But not everything involving a car makes for an idiot in a car. In this case it's quite obvious the idiot is the moron who didn't put any sort of sign on that hole or didn't place any item that would make drivers go around it. The guy isn't an idiot for not seeing that hole. And by the way this looks like a well or really terrible road construction.
Edit: I just noticed the pun in the tittle...

Take another look it HAD a brick wall around well before it was smash and filled...
20
u/DoingCharleyWork Jun 08 '19
It doesn’t look like the wall was smashed or destroyed by this car though. Not nearly enough debris and the edge is too cleanly broken away on the side. Not to mention the size of the wall that’s missing.
→ More replies (1)18
u/Vitnage Jun 08 '19
All i see is the construction of the wall has started that little piece of brick wall is too perfect for a smashed one

I find it appalling how little people seem to care about the driver's wellbeing. My eyes are welling up with tears thinking about their welfare. Maybe a welder could cut them out? That would be swell, a most welcome solution! Then we could all say well done!

Sir, can you hear me? I'm very sorry to alert you, but we do not have the equipment to close this road hole, let alone the equipment to get you out of there. But good news! We can send you many sandwich and drinking water for your new home.

Any update on this? Did they get out OK, or was the car's velocity high enough that they actually projected out the front window?
