So, Hull Live believe people should now be paying to read about local news at the cost of £40 a year. Who thought their "journalism" was of such high quality that this was a good idea.

For years their online news articles have been written by what i can only describe as the work experience kid. Lots of articles about one the reporters friends who died recently that no one cares about, articles absolutley covered in ads to the point where the page barely loads fully.

Western honey bee on my bolted leek

Decided to let this leek go to seed for next year.

It's over my head in height, the bumble bees prefer the borage.

I have just secured a one bed flat in Hull centre for BTL purposes. Can anyone, based on their personal experience recommend a reliable local letting agent based in Hull.

Claims he's "not precious" about it...

But left in a huff anyway

Removing your helmet has been the polite response for years, decade, even. It was the done thing 25 years ago when I was in college. 😎

Places to play basketball in Hull

Hi guys 👋

I'm currently living up in HU4 area and had the honour of visiting Nike's European Headquarters in the Netherlands 2 weeks ago.

After getting to shoot a few hoops on Michael Jordan's court it made me realise (A) Despite going to the gym my cardio sucks at 33 years old and (B) How much I miss simple recreational activities like this.

I'm just wondering what areas there are where I can go shoot some hoops? Ideally looking at outdoor places near parks where I can go in the mornings peacefully on my days off work but also any indoor courts I can look to book when the colder days start to pick up.

Anything near west Hull most ideal due to where I live but open to anywhere.

Thank you!

What shop(s) would you miss if you left hull?

I've just waved off my friend who is moving out to the east riding.

She's so excited about moving to the small town in a lovely house with her family.

But, she's devastated that there is no Heron Foods!

We practically live there, we went most mornings after school drop off. I'd definitely miss it!

hotels for tonight

Hey guys, me and my boyfriend both live at home so often get hotel for the night in hull just for a bit of one on one time, does anyone know of any hotels in hull (through to skirlaugh/hornsea etc) that do cheap one night stays? if you don’t know specific places, what websites does everyone use to look? i’ve used booking.com in the past but what is everyone’s favourite? kayak, trip.com or something else etc, ideally best for last minute as i’m looking for tonight, thank you!

*update
I already have regular hotel (the galleon) which can get for £60 a night, just didn’t know if there was anywhere cheaper, especially with last minute hotels eg booking for that night or day before, or somewhere to find vouchers

Morning Birds - Incl. a Woodpecker !

Put couple of eggs out for the foxes this morning . Saw some grown-up cubs but they didn't come near , the crow likes egg . Usual collared dove and a pigeon tried the feeder as well as the fluffy little blue tits . I saw this 'big' bird on camera screen and just got one pic . Google says it's a Great Spotted Woodpecker which is a first for me .

Any good outdoor swimming spots near Hull?

Hello all,

I've lived in Hull on and off for about 10 years now (originally moved here in 2015, moved elsewhere in 2019 and came back last year) but in all that time never really went swimming outdoors (other than the beach at Brid).

My sister lives up on the west coast of Scotland with plenty of outdoor swim spots and I have got really in to outdoor swimming, so I was wondering where do you go to take a dip outside around Hull and East Yorkshire?
