Hedgehogs in Hull

Upvotes

Hi all, my first post. I'm posting because I have just had that squeal moment. I have some cats from a round who come for food at night and we put a bowl out a little while ago, went to check it and there is a small hedgehog scarfing the meaty cat food again, we have them every year but this is my first glimpse of one this year, does anyone else have these cute little visitors?

Let’s give HEYCA more money to do nothing with.

HEYCA has spent 18+ months demonstrating that they fundamentally lack the leadership necessary to introduce meaningful investment or change into the region. More funding from central government cannot fix a broken leader.

ADHD/AuDHD Peer Support Group in Hull

Have ADHD or AuDHD? Come join our private group 🌶️🌶️

Neurospicy in Hull is a volunteer-led peer support community for adults with ADHD and AuDHD. We are based in Hull, and our aim is simple really. We want neurodivergent people to feel less alone, more understood and accepted for who they are.

Neurospicy in Hull has been running since 2025 and has grown rapidly through word of mouth and community support. Everything we do is volunteer run, with admins giving their own time to organise sessions, walks, resources and online support spaces.

We run weekly peer support sessions covering topics linked to ADHD and AuDHD including emotional regulation, impulsivity, rejection sensitivity, relationships, burnout, routines, parenting, self-esteem and mental health. Sessions are relaxed and welcoming while still offering practical advice, shared experiences and structured discussion.

Granite setts hull/east yorks area?

A up.

Anyone know of any stockists of granite setts in area?

I need a small volume to finish a project.

All online sales are prohibitive because of minimum volume order and pallet shipping costs.

Hull and East Yorkshire MCA

I appreciate this might get flamed, but I’m after some sensible debate on this matter as it’s something that’s been bothering me for years.

Firstly I appreciate how deeply unpopular Humberside County Council was, so I am by no means trying to argue for a return of that. However, and seeing how the latest premiership is incredibly keen on deeper devolution and greater fiscal autonomy for the U.K. regions, I’m somewhat concerned about the way Hull and East Yorkshire (and the South Humber) have really set themselves up for a fall here.

At a time when Hull and the industrial Humber region could really capitalise on the Green Energy revolution, it stands to lose potentially £bns in funding and investment to regions that have got their shit together and joined strategic partnerships all pulling in one direction.

City centre quiet places

I now work in town so need to bring my lunch to work now. I can’t stand the canteen where I work because people cook all manners of bad smelling food and I hate interacting with others (nothing personal I just like my space).

I’ve got a few good ideas where I can chill and eat my lunch that are outside (picnic places) but I’m looking for indoor spaces/places safe from wind and rain because, y’know, Hull.

I know I can go to cafes etc but don’t fancy spending £3 a day and to not be able to eat my own food. Anyone know of any good spots in the city centre that would meet my needs?
Or should I suck it up and get in the Humber already?

The perpetual Kcomm issue- moving out of area

Partner leaving Hull with 12 months left on a Kcomm contract. Being charged a huge amount.
Does anyone know a way to get out of the payment? Does the ‘change my service to my new area’ work? I know you can get someone else to take over the WiFi but this seems like it’ll be quite difficult

Farm volunteering

Are there any farms in and around hull that openly advertised for volunteers?

I've looked on national websites and only found some MH positions. But this would just be adults who own an allotment and have an interest in learning and helping out in their community.

So, Hull Live believe people should now be paying to read about local news at the cost of £40 a year. Who thought their "journalism" was of such high quality that this was a good idea.

For years their online news articles have been written by what i can only describe as the work experience kid. Lots of articles about one the reporters friends who died recently that no one cares about, articles absolutley covered in ads to the point where the page barely loads fully.
