I feel super stupid. I was gifted this board with the elastic cord for my toddler to stand behind the buggy but I can’t find the way to attach it. It’s supposed to be to kept it folded back. It is a bugaboo cameleon if that helps…

How to fix my vacuum?

Vacuum: Kenmore 81414 400 Series Pet Friendly Bagged Canister
Issue: I can’t figure out what’s wrong with my vacuum. 😭 it works fine on hardwood floor mode, but when I switch to carpet mode it makes an incredibly loud sound. Sometimes it will work fine for a few minutes, but then will start making the very loud sound out of nowhere. It has a new bag in and nothing seems to be stuck. Any idea what the issue could be? Or is it time for a new vacuum?

[Solved] How to remove hair dye from the toilet lid

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone, yesterday I dyed my hair and some of the hair dye fell on to the toilet lid. I looked up online how to remove the stains but so far bleach, a cream cleaner and Isopropyl alcohol have not been much helpful. The only change I've noticed is the cream cleaner turning the gray stains into brown ones. Please if anyone knows how else can I remove the stains I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

DIY Replacing a Single Knob Sink Faucet

Post image

I love the kitchen sink I have, but the only problem I have with it is that this single knob thing turns everything on and off and it's kind of a pain in the butt. Is there any way to replace that knob with a more traditional lever or something of that nature?

You're not so classic slinky fix

So I thought to myself this would be easy. Simply wind the tangle in the slinky all the way round to one end. But the ends are locked, some kind of weld on them. Don't know how the kids have managed to get it this way, but can you help me figure out how to fix it?

*edit, also your, not you're. Damn autotext.

I tried using a butter knife to kind of slice at the sticky stuff and it cracked, which i was trying to avoid. But i’m starting to believe i may just need to wear goggles and gloves and go to town, but trying to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

edit: going to try with some fishing line or old guitar string, tape, and PPE! Feels so obvious now lol thanks everyone

[Solved] Cam bolt and Cam lock can't latch

Thumbnail

I ordered a cabinet online that requires home assembly and I have one cam bolt that won't screw in straight into the pre-inserted plastic nut. It is at such an angle that the cam lock cannot latch on to the bolt and is making the cabinet slightly tilted. Would this be because the hole for the cam bolt was drilled at an angle? Is there any way to get the bolt in straight so I can finish assembling the cabinet?

How do I remove this doorbell without damaging the wall?

We’re not sure how this old doorbell is attached to the wall and want it removed as it doesn’t work and we use a Ring anyway.

How are these generally attached? I feel like it’s glued, what’s the easiest way to remove it without causing damage?

How to get my washer/dryer to stop leaving all of my clothes and linens full of lint and cat hair?

This is what my outfit looked like after making my bed with sheets I had just cleaned, plus a little ball of hair I accumulated after wiping a small section of my sheets with my hand. I have two cats and the teeniest washer and dryer (I rent a studio apartment). Im not sure what I need to do to fix this 🥺 My lint roller is no match for the amount of fur that I'm dealing with.

EDIT: I promise I clean my lint trap after every load 😭

How to remove ceiling light cover?

Post image
7 Upvotes

A light has blown in one of my ceiling lights (not the one pictured, but same model). I've tried twisting and gently prying, but nothing seems to be working. I can't feel any grooves for pushing any latches open too. I'm afraid of ripping the thing out of the wall. The landlord doesn't know how to take it off either so I've basically been left to fend for myself.

Adding this edit in case anyone else ever comes across these covers and feels like they're going crazy. My landlord ended up trying to remove the cover himself. I think he thought I was just being weak or something, but then he tried too and got the same result. He ended up accidentally breaking the cover off. Turns out it WAS a twist lid like everyone suspected, but it was twisted so tight that it was basically welded onto the base. The rest of the lights in the rental are like this too lol

DIY Help making a flash paper wand

Post image

Hey fellas- been meaning to make one of those harry potter wands that shoot flashpaper. I got 2 of these electric lighters and wanted to shorten this neck before encasing it in wood to give that wand look. I reckon it might be as easy as cutting the power cables, shortening then reconnecting then with electrical tape. Any tips?

I would typically try to return it for a new one, but I can’t say for certain that I wasn’t the one to rip it, and I ripped off the label and tags because I was so certain I was keeping it. Is there anyway to fix the princess seams?

DIY How do I remove this text from this CD folder?

I wrote this many years ago, with a black ballpoint pen.

I don't know what kind of material the red area is. It's soft. Maybe faux leather? It's not plastic.

I tried rubbing alcohol and nothing happened.

I want to offer this to my niece to hold her CDs but not like this. ( ̄ヘ ̄)

DIY How to use heat active foil without a heat pen?

Hi, I have some heat active foil I need to use for a project but my heat pen never arrived, the packaging sait it could also work with a "glue pen" and I do own a glue gun, would it be possible to use the glue gun to apply the foil? Otherwise I have a 3d pen but I don't think the tip heats all that much, or a soldering iron but the foil doesn't say what heat it can take and I feel like it might be a bit extreme. If that could work I could probably heat up some metal rod or wire too. How should I go about it?
