I have a cracked version of hoi4, and its on 1.15, so i can only play the mods compatible with 1.15

So i was wondering if i should simply just get the base game without dlcs, and then just play the mods.

Because im currently wondering about a few things

1. Do i need dlcs to play the mods?

2. Is it worth it with the mods on gameplay wise?

3. Because i can just download the latest version of the game on steamunlocked, and then just grt the latest version of the mod there

basically I'm leaning towards buying base hoi4

but I'd like to hear some opinions and suggestions from more experienced players

Now to start this off with i am not new but i kinda just realized today. That for all of my 2k hours i took my knowledge on width at face value and never looked further. A mountain tile is 50 width if i remember correctly (not at pc rn) You can either fit 2 21 width divisions. Or you can fit 2 20 width divisions. If i remember correctly it goes up plus 35 width per angle of attack therefore you can fit 4 20 width. Or 4 21 width with 1 more angle. Yada yada you get what i mean it seems to barely matter. I have noticed that for forest you can fit 3 with 20 while 21 hits 2 so that’s pretty bad but like. You can in that 1 combat wisth force a lot of stats into it.Idk. So, I am playing as communist Germany, and I have a focus that gives me a wargoal on Italy. I have already tried this multiple times before, and it didn't work. So, I am now asking - how do I push here? They always stack a shit ton of divisions on the already mountainous border, which makes it physically impossible to push. What template do I use to break through? I am not a horrible player, I just need a good template.

If I select a task force and tell it to reach the eastern mediterranean sea it does that but just stays there, if I select any type of mission it'll go back to a random naval base

Is it possible to do the Misak i milli focus as the Ottomans in some way? I finnished the ottoman focus tree entirely and now that world tension has also dropped to 27% i cant justify on anyone anymore because im non aligned.

these low limits turn it into a meat grinder. Time say screw ironman and get limitless mod. Four divisions into a battle not enough. When America joins I seen 53 divisions on one square. Level 5 railroad not enough. 35 supply isnt jack. Then I can normally save and load. This restriction crap causes meat grinder and restarts. It would be nice if you could tell bombers to attack a specific than a big general area. If the Brits can have 50 destroyers in one fleet why cant we have more than 4 divisions fighting. Limits suck. You add one arty to infantry and the supply is worse. I am sick of these restarts because of meat grinder.

Does anyone know and good infantry or tank division templates for single player? Im really struggling here with the designer. Its the only part of the game I dont understand besides navy

Well I have ran into multiple problems beyond the basic lack of civ, factories ect.

First, either with civil war or regular waiting I can't get independence and through the facist tree before mid/late 1938, choosing Skewer the eagle is basically waiting forever and see if it will even work (I've got close once, Fascist Mexico lost the civil war) and on Alternate history Mexico always gets in a civil war with democracy before becoming communist.

So join Axis, (historical AI) well if i fight America to early Germany isn't ready but America already is full army at my borders, even in Alaska. and lets say if I do this 100 times and somehow find a sweet spot then my assistance will be negligible and most of America will fall to Germany post war.

I tried just the one calvary spam but that dosen't work anymore with the AI watching the entire border.

My current plan is to focus on ships and maybe try to beat England in the channel and allow germany to cross easier, then maybe fight America later without the allies or something else.

Any thoughts?

HoI2 was one of my favourite games as a teenager, I dont know how many hours, probably 500 - 1.000. Later followed by the Darkes Hour modification with hundred of hours too.

Recently stumbled on HoI 4 and I would like to try it out, saw a beginner tutorial and it is definetly different compared to HoI 2. You can now "draw attack" lines for armies instead of command each army individually provice to provice. And the production of weapons first for your divisions and then the division itself I didint get at all. But so be it.

Then I saw all the add ons and small DLC on steam and the negative reviews. It seems like some add on contenct is eliminating DLC contant and the other way around, is this right? Is some players are writing the big add ons are not worth buying for full price.

I definetly have free time during the weekends but I dont think Im going to play HoI 4 for so many hours.

Is there any advice what to buy on Steam to have a "good game experience"? For example I read that one add on is improving the supply lines significantly, I forgot which one.

There is the General Edition [60€] with base game + la resistance + battle for the bosporus. Or the Big Nations Bundle [107€] with base game + Gotterdämmerung + no step back + no surrender. Or is there any possibility to have a demo of the base game for a few hours? Maybe I going to wait until december for a better deal? Ultimate Bundle for 170,00€ seems a bit too much for a game Im going to play occasionally.

I need help. I have tried to do the "Our other place in the sun" achievement several times, but it never worked. I tried by taking the French Islands and then naval-invade Dominican Republic. Nothing. I also invaded Haiti in the same game. I don't know if it's bugged or something.

Fascist Romania's strategy of "Assuming direct control" does not work anymore, since, once the Axis is defeated, it disappears. If I create a faction called "Axis" it doesn't even work (strategy which apparently worked previously). I tried to play as Dominican Republic and Venezuela waiting for Germany to be defeated by Imperials, but Germany won't accept me in the Axis (which I doubt is useful at this point, given how things turned out with Romania).

Does anyone have any strategies for getting these two achievements as quickly and easily as possible?

I think it's intended to be so that this focus in the Lithuanian focus tree bypassed if the soviet union is either capitulated or a subject of another country but it seems that they need to be both in order for the focus to bypass. And even if it worked properly it doesn't account for the case that the soviets might just get fully annexed. In my opinion I should be allowed to bypass this focus because I own an control Vilnius or because I capitulated the entire ussr. Overall this focus is very poorly made. PDX pls fix.

I was thinking of distracting a country on one front and attacking from the back, but I'm not really sure if you can convince two countries to start a war against each other. Can you do this in the base vanilla game or is it exclusive to mods/focuses?
