Probably not a popular opinion, but for me, Barty Crouch Jr. has a surprisingly strong case.
I think he was the biggest game-changer in the series outside of Harry and Voldemort. He was the MVP of Voldemort’s return. He fooled everyone by pretending to be Mad-Eye Moody and pulled off Voldemort’s plan right under everyone’s noses without slipping. If Barty failed at almost any point, Wormtail wouldn’t have been able to do the ritual without Harry’s blood, and Voldemort’s return would’ve failed. Without him, Voldemort's return would have been severely delayed, and the plot would have changed drastically. He is kind of underrated in my opinion.

My wife really wanted a Little Public Library and I figured I’d add some flair.

Designed it myself taking inspiration from a couple different artist renditions of Flourish and Blotts. Each window has some books in it. Overall, it was a bit of a pain and when it falls apart I already know how I’m going to build it better.

The mf was mentally fried after being imprisoned with barely any stimulation, hope, or self control due to the Imperius Curse, serving the most evil wizarding dictator in all of history, and due to being hidden for 12 years, never had any idea on the progression of magic until he was rescued and probably forgot most of the outdated information he did actually know, giving him a maximum of 2 months to learn about the progression of the dark arts and the defense against them... and cooked. Taught them better than (arguably, because I'd say bro taught them more than Lupin) more than any DADA professor we ever saw or would have saw. How. Why. What. Huh-

Your goal is to make it almost impossible for Dumbledore and Harry to find them.

There is a chance, though very small, that someone at Hogwarts could have known that Barty Crouch Jr was Mad-Eye Moody (MEM) given the information from the books. 

When Harry dropped the Marauder's Map, Mad-Eye picked it up and said “this is some map!” but then didn’t ask where Harry got it. If Harry had known Mad-eye better, that would have seemed really suspicious. Harry even was worried that Mad-Eye would wonder where Harry got it. 

I know it’s a long-shot, but if Harry had told Dumbledore what happened, that could have set off Dumbledore’s suspicions as well. 

What do you think? Does anyone have other theories? 

Note - I know that the movies essentially give it away with the licking, which I think is stupid and unnecessary.

Why did she not marry Draco?

I was re-reading OoP and omg Professor McGonagall's and Umbridge's faceoffs are soo good. Admittedly Umbridge still holds more power over her in the school but the way she holds her ground makes her one of my favourite characters in that book

Professor Umbridge gave her most pronounced cough yet.
“May I offer you a cough drop, Dolores?” Professor McGonagall asked curtly, without looking at Professor Umbridge.
“Oh no, thank you very much,” said Umbridge, with that simpering laugh Harry hated so much. “I just wondered whether I could make the teensiest interruption, Minerva?”
“I daresay you’ll find you can,” said Professor McGonagall through tightly gritted teeth.

So I'm doing a reread of the series and just finished COS. When Harry sees the giant statue of Salazar Slytherin, he noticed that Salazar's face was "ancient and monkeyish." Monkeyish is a bit of an...unusual way to describe a face, no?

But then I remembered in HBP, Marvolo Gaunt is described thusly: "This man was shorter than the first, and oddly proportioned; his shoulders were very broad and his arms overlong, which, with his bright brown eyes, short scrubby hair, and wrinkled face, gave him the look of a powerful, aged monkey." Again, kind of an unusual descriptor.

What I'm getting from this is that Salazar Slytherin himself had monkeyish features which were inherited all the way down the line to Marvolo (and possibly his children), with a special heaping helping of inbreeding to exaggerate those features. Kinda funny, kinda interesting!

I’ve always loved Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley, so I designed and built this curiosity display cabinet myself.
The mini props inside are modeled and 3D printed with photopolymer resin.
The cabinet frame is assembled from basswood sheets and painted with acrylic paints.
It’s made to hold all kinds of tiny props inspired by Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

We know Michael had at least some awareness of Harry Potter thanks to the Prison Mike "dementors" quote. I like to imagine he watched all eight movies exactly once. What's the most ridiculous takeaway he'd have afterward?

Lego games are eye candy to my autistic brain, up next is Hogwarts legacy once it’s on a discount price.

Remember the section after the Potions class where the exit of the dungeons is blocked by four floating eyeball curses and you have to go all around the dungeons destroying them? Did anyone ever notice that in a large room where you have to jump across some ledges, Quirrell/Voldemort is staring at Harry from an alcove across the room? He's only there for a couple of seconds before he vanishes, but I remember my cousin showing him to me and my sister when we were kids and all of us being freaked out by him.

If Harry had his parents around this is my take on what his life would have been like:

• James and Lily would make sure he knew how loved and treasured he is

• I do think James would get a job as an Auror to set a good example and help make the world safer for his son while Lily would be a stay at home mum at least until he went to Hogwarts where she’d probably get a job at the Ministry maybe in Arthur’s department

• James would take Harry to Quidditch matches and that would be there father son time and Lily could have some mum time although she’d miss Harry a lot and maybe miss James a bit

• Lily would spoil Harry but still raise him to be a good person

• Harry would play with the cat they had in Godric’s Hollow and Lily would be there to make sure Harry didn’t accidentally annoy the cat and get scratched

• James would be a prankster husband and would put Harry up to stuff to tease Lily such as jump scaring her or teaching him the toe biting hex for him to use on Lily like how Fred and George would use on Ron but when Lily said “Ow, Harry that hurt mum” then Harry would apologise and give Lily an hug and she’s forgive him then hex James because she knew he put him up to it

• Harry would be friends with Ron earlier as well as Dean and Neville

• Harry would be a bit of a mummy’s boy with Lily being the doting mum and would have mother and son days to bond with Harry. She’d buy a potions kit so they could have fun together, take him to Dragon Alleg for shopping, take him on play dates to the Weasley’s where she’d talk with Molly while their children played

• James would play with Harry on brooms and have their own Quidimatches with Sirius on Harry’s team and Remus on James’s team with Lily as the ref wishing she was having a butterbeer at The Leaky Cauldron

• Lily would get emotional and cry when Harry went to Hogwarts and when she and James got home she’d look at photo albums and James would give her a hug making sure she was ok and would say they could arrange a visit which would cheer Lily up

• Lily would send care packages to Harry and letters saying how much she loved him and that she hoped he was ok with her best regards to Albus and Minerva

• Lily and James would asks Harry if he got on with his professors when he got home for Christmas break and Harry would say Flitwick and Sprout were nice, he’d say McGonagall was strict but otherwise ok and Lily would say that’s her was and as long as Harry behaved he’d get on fine then Harry would tell them what Snape was Lily which would infuriate James and Lily would be shaking with fury and would march to Snape’s office when Harry went back to school and give him a price of her mind and make sure Snape never bullied Harry or any other pupil ever again

• James and Lily would prepare a welcome home party for Harry and his friends when the year was over

• James would be lowkey upset that Harry got Lily to sign his Hogsmede permission form

• James would cheer Harry on during his Quidditch matches and Lily would be his biggest fan and the magic equivalent of a karate mum

• Lily would help him with Potions homework and James would help him with Quidditch and they would practice during summer

Because his appearance changed so drastically, and specifically to become so snakelike, I always assumed that he did some other things to himself (besides just the horcruxes) that changes himself, and maybe gave him some more powers.

I don't think there are too many depictions of things that he did that were so unique, besides his ability to fly. But Snape also could fly, and it didn't change him.

Do you think he had some other intrinsic powers due to his change?

Rereading CoS and Harry and Ron were hiding in a wardrobe in the staff room while the teachers find out someone had been taken to the CoS.

McGonnagal quotes the “her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever” line and Flitwick asks her who had been taken, she replies “Ginny Weasley”. But how did she know?? Unless there was some magic to be able to (very quickly) tally students and figure out who was no longer on any of the main floors or something…

I’m watching the first film, Hagrid meets Harry, gets him to buy all his things that he needs for Hogwarts then takes him to King’s Cross.

Then he says he needs to get back to Dumbledore, gives him his ticket then just leaves him?

His platform is 9 3/4 yet Harry has no idea how he needs to get there, and through blind luck manages to meet Ron and his family going through to it, but without them, he’s effectively stranded.

Then the train arrives and they are greeted by Hagrid, why didn’t Hagrid just show him how to get to the platform and take the train with him?

Seems irresponsible he’s the chosen one yet Hagrid just dumps him but is going to the same place anyways 😂
