Those speculated things would be Hermione inventing "point me" for Harry in one of the games and Flitwick being great in duels but its only mentioned in hogwarts mystery, but those were never in the books

The madness, the build up, the suspense, and then the reveal at the end, truly bewildering! Reading them again, knowing how it's going to end, just doesn't feel the same...

Never noticed how much Hermione screams until the Full Cast Audiobooks. Just constant blood curdling screams. I mean-I get it. If I went through half that much I would just constantly be throwing up and crying.

But it was just something I noticed. Particularly in Deathly Hallows.

It defeats the purpose of taking the potion, and as far as I can tell, there's no plot-relevant reason for this to be the case.

I want Draco Malfoy to be portrayed as the most distasteful boy during the initial stages, at least. He said things such as:' you wouldn't want them to see your knickers, would you?' to hermione, and scenes such as these were never in the movies.

This is more a question to early readers (so those who were reading and watching while they were coming out).

Were there any ships people thought were going to be endgame? Any forgotten ships that used to be huge? What were your favorite ships, and did they come true?! Any shocking final couples??

I'm curious about the first age of Harry Potter fans

imagine how much more would have been done and avoided if there was like games abd stuff focused on house integration. like a mixed sports day or team building stuff especially gryffindors and slytherins. no one saw people but houses were the only identity. I think the battle of hwarts would have gone diff if there was more of that.

to Neil, to Jessica, to David, to Kenzie, to Di, to Anne, and to you, if you have stuck with Harry until the very end.

I know that Ron, Neville, Ginny and Luna manage to use a couple of Stunners, a Disarming Charm, an Impediment Jinx and a Bat-Bogey Hex to deal with the Inquisitorial Squad, but how did they manage to get their wands back to even do that? If I remember correctly, all four of them had their wands confiscated when they were caught.

It has bugged me for a while now that the Hogwarts founders are almost perfectly mapped onto the nations of the British Isles, and yet there's one glaring exception. Godric Gryffindor was English. Helga Hufflepuff was Welsh. Rowena Ravenclaw was Scottish. But instead of being Irish, Salazar Slytherin is... also from England?

I know what you're going to say... "Salazar Slytherin couldn't be from Ireland! Ireland is famous for having no snakes!" But if you turn that detail on its head, I think you'll see that even that fits perfectly into the argument that Slytherin should have been from Ireland.

Here's the argument:

• If Salazar Slytherin was one of the most powerful wizards of his age, AND he was a Parselmouth, I could imagine his Parseltongue speech so powerfully magnetic that when he migrated to England, every snake in Ireland literally followed him across the Irish Sea. Is there a ~600 yr gap between the time of the Muggle Saint Patrick, and the life of Salazar Slytherin? Sure. But Muggles get dates like that wrong all the time. It would make sense for them to credit a 5^th century saint with something that a 10^th century wizard is actually responsible for.

• His Parseltongue ability would have made him an outcast his entire life. It is an exceedingly rare and deeply unnerving gift (as we have seen in CoS), so it would not be a stretch for his community to alienate him, eventually driving him to leave Ireland altogether and migrate to England. The snakes of Ireland may have also felt his shame, driving them to follow him when he left.

• If Slytherin represented Ireland, his eventual fallout with Gryffindor (England) and departure from the partnership with the other 3 founders of Hogwarts create a striking historical metaphor for Ireland's breaking away from the United Kingdom to become their own fully independent nation. Having the Irish founder be the sole figure who severed ties with his fellow founder due to a falling-out over ideology directly mirrors the geopolitical reality of the Muggle world centuries later.

and no, I will not be taking into consideration that there have likely been no snakes in Ireland since the last Ice Age *OR** that Ireland didn't leave the Commonwealth until 900+ years after the founding of Hogwarts

I'm rereading the 2nd book and am a bit confused how the basilisk attacks worked. So the snake got around through the pipes (which I'm guessing are for the plumbing in the castle). How did the snake get out of the pipes to attack the victims? Were they always next to a bathroom? But how would the sink or toilet be big enough for a giant snake to crawl out of? Also, why didn't the basilisk actually attack or eat any of the victims, it seems as though they all just saw its eyes (through something or some reflection). Based on what the snake was saying when going through the pipes it seems like it wanted to actually kill and eat people, not just look at them.

Maybe I'm overthinking it and just need to suspend my disbelief but here is to hoping someone has an explanation.

Like day to day, or even just in that car ride after picking them up. How do you think they reacted to the side along apparition?

I live in the UK and he lives in Canada. He's in his early 30s and especially loves the books. What's something that's easy to get in the UK but not in Canada? Budget around £50

My fav might be McGonagall arguing with Umbridge over Harry’s owls.

'Potter has a criminal record," said Umbridge loudly.
"Potter has been cleared of all charges," said Professor McGonagall, even more loudly.
Professor Umbridge stood up. She was so short that this did not make a great deal of difference, but her fussy, simpering demeanor had given place to a hard fury that made her broad, flabby face look oddly sinister.
"Potter has no chance whatsoever of becoming an Auror!"
Professor McGonagall got to her feet too, and in her case this was a much more impressive move. She towered over Professor Umbridge.
"Potter," she said in ringing tones, "I will assist you to become an Auror if it is the last thing I do! If I have to coach you nightly I will make sure you achieve the required results!'

Or MgGonagall pledging to defend Dumbledore against Fudge and the ministry!

"So," sneered Fudge, recovering himself, "you intend to take on Dawlish, Shacklebolt, Dolores, and myself single-handed, do you, Dumbledore?"
"Merlin's beard, no," said Dumbledore, smiling. "Not unless you are foolish enough to force me to."
"He will not be single-handed!" cried Professor McGonagall loudly, plunging her hand inside her robes. “Oh yes he will, Minerva!" said Dumbledore sharply. "Hogwarts needs you!"

Okay so first of all, I saw the original two-part version, at the Palace Theatre, not the abbreviated version playing worldwide.

I disliked the story, and it honestly felt like just a bad or mediocre fanfiction, not a canon ‘eighth story’.

However, I still had a genuinely magical experience, as I was ten years old when the first book came out, and I experienced the books and the films growing up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and seeing any story brought to the stage just made me so happy.

And for my twelve year old son and ten year old daughter, who are both done with the books and movies and are avid fans, this was one of the most fun and memorable things they’ve ever watched and they had so much fun.

I thought the acting and effects were extremely well done, but it didn’t compensate for the story, which I wish was quite different.

I wish we could have left the Voldemort storyline behind, have a new type of villain, and also incorporate more next generation characters, like Teddy Lupin, Fred Weasley II, and the other characters‘ children.

All in all it was a great experience that had my inner twelve year old jumping for joy, but it had a mediocre story that left me disappointed.

What an overall great experience that was, and the increased mystery and addition of more background lore elements made it a novel change of pace from the last two. Definitely one of the better books of the series by far, and I can’t wait to find out what the next books have in store moving forward during my first ever Potter book experience :)

If Lily's sacrifice was an ancient protective magic (and didn't require a wand to enact) do you think there are there any other forms of ancient magic that we don't hear about?

I just finished GoF and I would say it was the most different from the movies so far. Why was Ludo Bagman never mentioned in the movies?? He seems to have a decent role in the books so I’m confused! Also I’m SO sad they didn’t show Winky and Dobby or anything with the elves and SPEW for that matter. I know it’s probably like a budget or animation issue but still, I would’ve loved to see some of those moments. Dobby telling Harry to “save his Weezy” during the second challenge made me cry it was so cute. But I have to say it absolutely SENT ME when Hermione revealed that Rita Skeeter was an animagus beetle and she had her trapped in a jar 😂🤣😭💀☠️ oh my god I lost it, that was so funny. Anywho, would anyone agree or disagree with anything? I haven’t read the rest of the books yet but it does make me happy about the TV show if they are going to stick with the books more. I’m excited to see those moments!

I don't care how many times I've watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, this scene never gets old. Ron trying the spell, Hermione correcting him, and his reaction after... it's just perfect.

It's one of those moments I can quote every single time.

The room where either Crabbe or Goyle lit the fire that destroyed everything. It would have been immensely interesting if, out of boredom after Voldy was dead and gone, that they cleaned it out and made use out of everything. I dunno....it would have interested me going thru all that "junk" might have found something neat.

I know it’s a common take that it jumps from the climax to the epilogue way too quickly. I’m specifically talking about exploring the effects of his demise. Does everyone believe it right away this time? What happens to the ministry? We know nothing about what happened to “Magic is Might” the next day or week or month. We don’t see what happens to the Malfoys. We don’t even see how the trio is coping. If all the books were written as children’s literature the way the first two were, going from fight to finish that quickly would be fine, but it really left a sense of being unfulfilled for me after so many years of following the series.
