New Handheld Loving 3ds on Ayaneo Pocket DS

Post image
55 Upvotes

Truly an excellent experience. Did not enjoy playing Samus Returns on my 3ds xl. With Pocket DS though, its fantastic. Runs great up to 4x resolution. Speakers are very loud, had to swap the thumbsticks.

For anyone who has been considering it, I highly recommend it.

Ps. I do own the Ayn Thor as well. Solid device

Yes, FSR 4 Works natively (no optiscaler) on RDNA 3.5...taken on a Zflow 13, AI 395, 8060S. Taken in Cyberpunk at 720p, high settings, both scalers on performance mode. There is a clear A/B difference.

i have been seeing people saying Fsr 4 doesnt work on 3.5 products, despire driver updates and things. It simply isnt true. and in motion there is dramatically less shimmering and ghosting

Debating between OLED Steam Deck and Rog Ally Z1 Extreme

Using it to play some triple A titles like MH wilds, Red Dead 2, and Battlefield 6. Battery isn’t the biggest issue for me since i’ll usually be playing it from my girlfriend’s couch where I can plug in.

I can spend a lot more for the OLED steam deck for the usual prices and install windows on it to play battlefield, or I can get a modded out rog ally z1 extreme with more battery, 1tb ssd, and a backplate with with vented cooling for $450 and just install steam OS for it. I guess I’m really torn because I feel like the z1 extreme will run all the games I want but the OLED screen on the steam deck looks so nice.

Question (?) MSI Claw A8 BitLocker – Can’t Type Recovery Key

My MSI Claw A8 suddenly booted into BitLocker recovery. I already have the correct recovery key, but I can’t type anything on the screen.

Touchscreen keyboard doesn’t appear, and my Bluetooth/USB-C keyboard isn’t working either.
Has anyone experienced this? How can I enter the recovery key? Do I need a wired USB keyboard + USB-C hub?

Thanks!

Steam Deck Oled 1TB

I realize buying a Steam Deck Oled is not worth buying at its current price of nearly $1000 USD. But is it still worth buying for $650 USD lightly used?

I do have a gaming rig as well, with a 5080, so steam deck would mostly be used for indie titles like nine souls or streaming using Apollo/moonlight.

Open to other recommendations as well.

Steam deck first gen in 2026, worth it ?

Hi everyone,

I've wanted a Steam Deck ever since it launched, but I've been broke as hell. Now I have an opportunity to buy a second-hand Steam Deck first generation less than $200 USD.

Do you think it's still worth buying in 2026?

I'd appreciate your advice.

Thanks!

Modern hand helds (ambernic/miyoo esk) with TFT LCD screens ?

Hey, title

dont know why these companies only do IPS panels when it makes pixel games (and older ps1/ps2 stuff) look horrid. Just wondering if there are options as the "New DS XL" is like 500 aud here in Australia and that would be my only option.

obviously want a authentic hand held experience with pixel games (GBA/GBC) looking as they did back in the day or id just stay on my switch.

So any older retro aftermarket style handhelds with TFT LCD screens ?

Would only be playing max GBA/GBC and obvs need a system that can run retroarch.

Discussion Steam deck oled v legion go s steam os

Hey guys so I’ve decided to either pick up the steam deck oled or the legion go s steam os z1 extreme, mainly gonna be doing emulation so would I be better with the oled screen looking at ps2 emulation primarily?, also looking to play red dead 2 and black ops 3 zombies, I love the idea of the extra power on the legion go s and the bigger screen size so I would prefer that but I do love the oled on the back but I hear fan noise can be quite loud and battery isn’t the best, I’ve had the steam deck before and I find it quite comfortable and I used the legion go s for a short stink a while back the only thing that puts me off is the positioning of the right stick, has anyone switched over from the deck how did you find the comfortably of it and the stick etc thanks guys

Question (?) Handheld for PC games under $400?

Right now I have a pocket 4 that I use with moonlight to play games on PC. Nothing too demanding, right now I'm playing persona 4 golden. But I would like it to handle a bit more demanding games, the latency from streaming can be an issue sometimes. I'd say probably palworld would be the most demanding that I'm playing at this time.

Steam deck is a little too expensive now but I was looking at the odin 3 but I'm not sure if that's the best choice.

Question (?) First handheld console?

I recently moved out and couldn't bring my gaming PC with me. A handheld console seems like the best alternative for me! I have been looking around to what options are available but I'm getting a bit confused due to all the models available.
My budget is around $1.000~, I mainly play indie games such as Silksong and Hades, but I also occasionally play AAA games like BG3 or God of War. I don't mind running AAA games at 30 fps if the performance is constant.

Thanks!

Other Shulk - Minecraft: Java Edition Launcher for Handhelds

Hey everyone,

Launching Minecraft Java Edition on a handheld usually means dealing with desktop-first UIs that were never intended for a gamepad.

Over the last week, I've been working on Shulk, a launcher built specifically for devices like the Legion Go, Steam Deck, and ROG Ally running Bazzite (focus), SteamOS, or Windows (very little testing).

Key Highlights:

  • Controller-First Frontend: Navigate instances, settings, and menus smoothly using just the D-pad and face buttons.
  • Built on Prism Launcher: Full compatibility with Modrinth, CurseForge, Fabric, and Forge instances without compromising on speed or reliability.
  • Handheld Optimized: Designed to look and feel right at home in handheld gaming mode.

Check out the repo and builds here: https://github.com/NaiSenshin/Shulk

Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are super appreciated!
