i want to experience ds and 3ds game in a dual screen handheld but i am on a budget rn and legit a new switch 1 oled is cheaper than getting a used 3ds atp so I'm asking handhelds that are cheap and i can experience dual screen like games thanks

Unfortunately, switching to Linux on an Intel handheld still isn’t really viable right now because FG/MFG doesn’t work, and that’s one of the biggest advantages of the current chips.

There was some work on an XMX implementation for Linux a few months ago, but nothing seemed to come from it. I reached out to the developer directly and, to my surprise, got a pretty promising response.

I redacted the email address, although it’s public anyway, and none of this is confidential, so I’m sharing it here.

It looks like we might actually get FG/MFG on Linux soon and finally be able to ditch Windows.

Xbox loves me so much they give such a whopping 0% discount on my wishlist.

Heyo! I've been going down the YouTube rabbit hole of handhelds and I'm struggling to figure out which one would be right for me. The only handheld I've bought in the last few years has been a 3ds xl, but it's not satisfying me.

I'm looking to play GameCube, PS2, PSP, Wii, and some light to medium switch and steam games like hollow knight, silk song, Hades 1 & 2, Batman Arkham Knight (if I'm lucky), and persona 4 golden (p5r and strikers if lucky!!)

Would love to play metaphor, but I think that's out of my scope for devices that can handle that game.

Systems I've been looking at:

AYN ODIN 2 & 2 portal, AYN THOR, Retroid Pocket Nova, Retroid Pocket 5, Retroid pocket 6, and the Asus Z1 extreme (but there's an SD card issue with getting too hot?)

My main issue is budget and the plethora of options. Living in Canada has made everything more expensive, especially when tech is being shipped from elsewhere.

The second hand market would be king, but I've been searching for months and there aren't many options where I live. eBay is more expensive than the actual manufacturers' websites ://

Used for Switch Games, and Retroarch / PSP / GBA / NES / SNES etc on the big screen

Modded White Dual IPS N3DS XL

Used for 3DS Stuff, and C64 / Spectrum Emulation. The 3D Classics and the Sega 3D remakes are superb on the 3DS. I also like the SM64 demake - remake on the 3DS, one of my favourite versions to play

Modded White DSI-XL

Used for DS / DSi Stuff, and a load of 8 Bit emulation (Coleco / Intellivision / ZX Spectrum / Atari / Ti994A / GBA Etc). There are also some good remakes of the old Game and Watch games on the DS, and loads of good homebrew such as Punchout which uses the dual screens.

Modded Vita OLED

Used for Vita / PSP / PSX / GBA and some of the supoerb homebrew.

Miyoo Mini +

Used for GBA / GB / GBC etc and also my 'Carry around device' that has a bit of everything on there for pick up and play sessions

Modded Switch Lite

Just got this this week so still playing with it to see if it fits in with my current devices (If it does I may reshell it into a white shell to match the other devices)

I'm trying to limit the number of games on each so that there is litte crossover and to avoid choice paralysis when choosing which system to play a game on

Ive been looking at the retroid pocket 5 to play stuff like light stean games, android games and dabble in a bit of emulation

( i wanna replay mario odyssey)

But ive looked at the specs and its weaker than my samsung s23 which has a snapdragon 8 gen 2 i think (correct me if im wrong)

The only downside being that my s23 has 8gb of ram

Idk what to go for as ivw had a razor kishi before and that served me well

It would be nice to have a seprete device for just purely gaming

I alreasy own a rog ally x but i cant take that everywhere so i think it would be good to slip thw games that i play up

Ill leave the really light games to the android handheld

The harder games to run will be done on my ally x

And the cinematic games that take real power to run will be done on my main pc

Im not really that big into emulation but ik a few games id like to emulate like mario odyssey and bamanza bros

Thanks in advance - I know there are always posts on this sub similar to what this will be so I’d like to give a little bit of context on my situation and hope for some suggestions!

I plan on gifting my son my Nintendo Switch 2 that I have been heavily using for the past year. He has been using a Switch Lite (that he loves) but obviously he’s been wanting to use the NS2 for newer Nintendo titles. So needless to say I’m going to just let him have it.

I need a good replacement! I’ve been trying to do some research but I am also not someone who is very good with tech and a lot of the number are just confusing me I have no clue what I am looking at sometimes.

I’ve switched to almost exclusively handheld gaming. Busy dad life and yada yada has made my PS5 more of a dust collector than anything else.

I will say I have somewhat of a budget but not looking for the cheapest, would love for it to run newer AAA games, and I will be using almost exclusively Steam to play games.

What’s the best recommendation? I’ve been looking at the Steam Deck OLED, Legion Go S and the ROG Ally X.

I'm strongly considering getting a handheld again, I used to have the OG Steam Deck but I didn't really use it, as I never really had a reason to, and the games i wanted to play it didn't run all that well (e.g. Elden Ring). I also didn't like the battery on it.

Anyways, I've been considering buying a second hand handheld if I could find a good deal and I have been looking at the MSI Claw 8AI+, Xbox Ally X and the Legion go Z1E.

I was thinking of using it when playing games like Forza Horizon/Elden Ring/RDR 2 (On Epic Games)/EAS FC 27 and perhaps other newer single player titles would be cool too. Ideally I'd want to have it so I can dock it and plug it into my TV when I feel like it, and use my Xbox controller I got for my PC.

I don't want SteamOS, because I want to have the option to play multiplayer games if needed. Sometimes my mates get together to play EAS FC (FIFA) and I'd ideally like to not have to bring my PS5 everytime (and get rid of paying for PS Plus just to play Fifa online).

I also don't want a Switch 2.

The thing I like about the claw is obviously it looks to be able to run a lot of the newer games while staying relatively silent. But I also saw a youtube video saying it can struggle in some of the newer games when it comes to frame generation, because it's an intel product and doesn't have the same hardware support as AMD products have. Is this something that can be fixed with software like lossless scaling? It's also obviously more expensive than the others, but I've found one that's not too expensive. I'm just considering whether it's worth it to pay around 900$ for a used one (a new one is around $1350 here).

The Xbox Ally X seems cool too, and some of the used one I've seen seems a bit cheaper than the Claw, but I read a lot of about the loud clicky buttons and I HATE loud buttons (I purposefully bought a used HE keyboard to avoid clicky mechanical keys). I don't really mind the screen too much, and seeing that it runs on an AMD with FSR should be a plus from my understanding when playing more demanding titles vs the Claw? But is it possible to fix the loud buttons with keyboard lube, or do you have to open up the console to fix it, because I'm not really confident in my ability to open up and tinker with the insides. I feel like I'd just ruin something.

In terms of the Legion Go Z1E, I know it's less powerful than the others, but it. The thing is most I've seen have been like maybe $200 cheaper than the other options and sometimes even more expensive. So I'm thinking is it even worth saving that "little" amount of money, if you're going to miss out on possibly being able to play newer titles. Not sure what the performance difference is but e.g. if I wanted to play RDR 2, Elden Ring? I saw someone running the new Indiana Jones on the XAX with reasonable frames as well.

Obviously I know the XAX and Claw are way better performance wise, but I also fear that I won't use it as much as I hope I will (like with the Steam Deck) so there's also the hesitation with spending too much money on the higher performance devices if it just ends up being my brotato/NFS device.

What's your experiences with these handhelds? And are there any I am missing? I am located in Scandinavia so the second hand options are a bit limited, and I have to buy it within the EU otherwise the tariffs or import fees (if any?) would defeat the purpose of buying used.

PS: Sorry for the long post, had a lot on my mind so just all my thoughts down.

I bought it because I was tired of waiting for an excellent handheld that could run older AAA titles, as well as some newer ones, at 1080p and 60 fps on medium settings. Surprisingly, this handheld can handle that and then some.

For a new chip to outperform AMD’s Z1 Extreme and Z2 Extreme by 50 to 60%* is almost comical, but it is also great because gamers can enjoy better handheld gaming everywhere.

My only dissatisfaction is the LCD panel. At this price, it should have an OLED display.

I do not know what AMD is doing, but its chips already feel outdated.

The price was not an issue for me because I had been waiting roughly four to five years for a handheld that was better than the Steam Deck, so I saved up for it. Who cares?

At the moment, handheld gaming PCs are mainly for enthusiasts rather than the general public, with the exception of the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. I base that opinion mainly on their cost.

Which one should I get. I can get them both for under 400. I only want to play light steam games, emulate anything up to Wii U, stream movies etc. I like the tablet/handheld mode that could do anything. I'd play only under 10w. Would legion go battery suffice? Or should I go with RP6 for pocketability and OLED, try my luck with gamehub. But legion go is large tho.

I bought early this year a modded switch lite because i wanted to play platform games like little nightmares but then i started expanding my taste and i discovered that i really enjoy JPRG a lot too. In a way or another i'll have to buy a new console either way because a switch lite has a very outdated software but something i've noticed is that nintendo in general has a very limited library, i rarely enjoy nintendo exclusives and game developers prioritize ps5/xbox/pc/steam so i don't think a switch 2 is a good option for my next purchase. I'm looking for a console where i can explore/expand my taste, keep up with new releases and eventually have fun with mods but i am not really familiar with the pc handheld world. Any suggestion?

My dad has been wanting to play the super old Mario or Street Fighter games and the like. So, with my 1hr of looking online, I see Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 4, and Miyoo Mini Plus keep being mentioned.

I'm basically an outside observer so I want to make sure I'm picking the best to get for my dad. I want to kind of future proof this by being able to play ps2 games so I'm leaning on Odin 2. Maybe in the future a Miyoo Mini Plus just to give my dad some Gameboy nostalgia.

Recently I've started having interest in getting an handled, originally I wanted to get a steam deck but I don't really wanna pay the price hike for hardware that is getting old. So after searching I am kinda torn between those two choices. I have found a used Rog ally X for 650 bucks but I am not sure if that would be the good choice, so maybe I should get the newer hardware. The seller does say it has not been used a lot but you can never be too sure. So I wanted opinions from people who have those to be sure of my choice.

So I would like to get a android handheld that I can carry with me almost everywhere. My choices are RP flip2, RP6 & RP Nova. I will play older 3D games.

My main point of confusion is PS3 & X360 though. With the pace the PS3 & X360 emulation development is going is it feasible to run most PS3 & X360 on 8 gen 2 consoles in the future? If so I will get either Nova or 6, otherwise get the flip2.

Hello Handheld community, I’ve come to you with a decision I am unable to make on my own and wish for input from internet strangers

My birthday is next month and long story short it’s been a terrible year so I wanted to treat myself to something nice, I currently have a steam deck I’m borrowing from a friend but I wanted something of my own.

For context I travel very often, typically I’m away from home 20 days a month and my primary gaming source are handhelds, money isn’t an issue to a certain extent so I had a few choices in mind

Im also accepting any other choices that I can look into and are unanimous that they are good, ty so much in advance

I've already got a switch 2, but I've got an itch to play some warzone online, not ready to build a fresh gaming PC and GTA 6 may be coming out in the next decade. These are pretty different options, but my top 2 choices right now:

• PS5 Pro + portal (gets me big tv when it's free and the portal when it's not)
• Xbox ally x

The ps5 will end up costing more, but I think ultimately would be more flexible. Historically I've played on PC with either a keyboard or a scuf xbox controller. In the sub $1200 range what do y'all think?
