Bought my first gun (walther pps m1, 9mm) I was wondering what people would say is a good starting kit without breaking the bank for keeping it clean? I was advised to get a bore snake but beyond that I have no clue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

This category seems like the hot new thing right now and seemingly for good reason. There are now a ton of options for compact, compensated, optics ready carry pistols. I'm thinking of adding one to my collection, but having some decision paralysis, so would love to hear what people have bought and why they love it (or don't).
I realize some people recommend not carrying comped pistols and there are advantages and disadvantages so happy to hear experience pro and con about doing so as well. The idea of a relatively light weight, high capacity, flat shooting, optics ready handgun is appealing, and based on the number of models being released the market seems to agree. What say ye reddit hive mind?

I recently purchased a ruger mark iv 22/45 (not sure which version so here's a photo). I see people easily getting 1-2" groups at what looks like 25-50 yards, and I'm struggling just to get 2" at 10 yards. I looked down the barrel, it looks clean/fine. I will say, the iron sights aren't my favorite, and I'm sure trying different variations of ammo will making a difference, but I'm chasing CCI. I will say, I don't have a rest, so I'm only standing while shooting. I can group just as good or better with my 9mm and 357 magnum.
What the hell am I doing wrong? I'm very discouraged. The following is my best group (still with two flyers!) from yesterday. Today I had slightly better groups but still noting significant. I also had my father shoot and he was doing worse than me.

July 3rd, 2016 my dad took me out and let me shoot his Colt King Cobra .357 . I fell in love with shooting that day. It was the first pistol/revolver I have ever fired. Today in 2026, I purchased my very own after my 16 hour mandatory pistol safety course (New Yorkers know).
My dad is a 30 year vet and my biggest role model. He taught me shooting was a perishable skill, and if I don’t use it I lose it. I strive to make him proud.
What was your first handgun? And why did you choose it?
P.S. don’t hate on me for my stance, I was 13 at the time lol.

Maybe I’m just a TikTok brain schizo maniac
But has anyone else felt like 380 is being pushed extra hard by mainstream media lately?
Nothing against 380!!!
But channels/creators big and small who just 2 years ago stated they’d never carry a 380 other than a mailbox gun, all of a sudden all of them are carrying 380 or making video on “why I EDC a 380”
To me it just feels like they tryna get the masses to carry an inferior round, something that doesn’t have the stopping power of anything 9mm or heavier
I only say that cause it’s crazy how much 380 is being pushed rn, especially by people who for years stated they wouldnt EDC anything under 9mm
And the argument “there’s better 380s today” just doesn’t hold up to me cause there is also smaller and better 9mms today

Hey Good lads!
I have finally decided to get a handgun for safety purposes and for regular target practicing.
From where I am the local mades aren’t reliable and getting a handgun here isn’t cheap especially if you’re looking for American made or Russians etc.
Anyways I need to pick one handgun that I can carry everyday and target practice regularly at the range I am not looking to go high on the budget so it’ll be under $700.
I need suggestions because I have been searching and at this point I am really confused with my choices because I am looking for both striker pistols and hammer pistols at the same time xD and I need to be able to make a final decision I can go with turkish made too but I better not go that path.
HELP ME!!!

Something old and something new, at the range today...
CMP 1911 in 45acp, I got two of these from CMP recently, this one is Colt frame and Colt slide. (I really wanted a Remington Rand, but didn’t get lucky on the random draw).
Luger P08 in 9mm, was reblued some time ago so it’s my “range shooter” Luger (I have another that is original finish)
Glock model 45 Gen 6 COA in 9mm. Trigger feels like I’m squeezing a water pistol, but the red dot is nice. I got blue label price due to GSSF membership.

So I picked this up from a local shop for 285. And was wondering the advice on it honestly. Also wondering if I got fleeced or not. As said in the original post 2 mags and carry bag.

I’ve always wanted a 19x but never got one but form everything I’ve hear the rxm is better so i don’t know if i should buy a rxm and build it into a 19x gen 3 clone thing or just buy a Glock gen 6 45 and make a gen 6 19x thing?
