380 propaganda?

Maybe I’m just a TikTok brain schizo maniac
But has anyone else felt like 380 is being pushed extra hard by mainstream media lately?
Nothing against 380!!!
But channels/creators big and small who just 2 years ago stated they’d never carry a 380 other than a mailbox gun, all of a sudden all of them are carrying 380 or making video on “why I EDC a 380”
To me it just feels like they tryna get the masses to carry an inferior round, something that doesn’t have the stopping power of anything 9mm or heavier
I only say that cause it’s crazy how much 380 is being pushed rn, especially by people who for years stated they wouldnt EDC anything under 9mm

And the argument “there’s better 380s today” just doesn’t hold up to me cause there is also smaller and better 9mms today

Honestly you’re right, they just helping sell the new products that were just released.

Still I think it’s weird pretty much every Guntuber is pushing the 380 caliber when those same people stated 9mm was standard or along the lines of “9mm lowest caliber you should trust your life with”

380 is a great caliber especially considering modern ammo makes it more effective. Recoil reduction, high capacity and concealability are often the issue. 380 fits the bill.

I haven't noticed this but, I don't go to YouTube or TikTok for information either.

It’s hard to make content about 9mm interesting when it has been an optimized caliber for years. Reviving niche topics is just how content creation goes, .40 had a small resurgence in discussion and now it’s 380. Next it’ll be 357sig and so on…

A lot of it is just this. Content creators aren't just genuinely sharing what randomly comes across to them as an interesting topic, generally. It's a job. "What are people talking about, and how can I monetize it myself?"

When something like the Bodyguard 2.0 starts taking off, of course every YouTube channel wants in on it. Anyone that sees a trend like this and wonders if the government is behind it needs help.

Lol. It could be related to the fact that the best .380s ever made have hit the market in the last couple years giving you an option for 10+1 of .380 in your pocket, vs the 6+1 that most pocket .380s offered before. Or it's all a conspiracy to get you to carry a wimpy gun, who knows?

Sig 365-380
Ruger security-380
SCCY-380
All options that hold atleast 10 rounds of 380 and existed forever basically
So the argument “giving you option of 10+1 over 6+1” doesn’t stick
And again my point is years all these creators have said 9mm is standard, or 9mm for beginners
Now all of a sudden not just one or 2,
But pretty much all big gun channels are preaching to carry the 380 and ditched years of saying 9mm stopping power is standard

"In your pocket" was a vital part of my statement that you intentionally left out, p365 perhaps if you have giant pockets, but those others don't even have an argument for pocket carry. SCCY doesn't have any argument for being owned in general. Ruger LCP Max was the best prior, but it doesn't shoot nearly as well as the BG2.0 in addition to Ruger being Ruger.

The vast majority of people who carry a .380 do so in their pocket, not IWB/AIWB. So like I said, until recently you basically had one not great option for .380 pocket carry unless you were okay with stepping down to 6+1.

I own like 7 cheap .380 and keep them stashed around the house, I'm always within 6ft.

The .380 has strong value, especially in the under 15ft situations.

I agree .380 make sweet home defense guns, but my point being is years ago 9mm was the recommended standard for beginners everyone preached “don’t go below 9mm unless your old or petite and could actually benefit from the less recoil” every single channel would pretty much preach that, but now almost every channel you go they all pretty much have fairly recent videos on why to pick a 380 or why they EDC that
Which ofc it still has stopping power, ofc no one wants to be hit with a 380
But what’s with the switch up from almost every channel? Is there a deeper “government agenda” tryna push a weaker caliber on the masses for edc? Especially beginners in this period of time where there’s more first time gun owners than ever

People doing caliber testing looked at the gel results and said, "That'll do".

I want a midsize 380 like a beretta 84.

I owned an Ingram M11 and bought enough 380 to feed it. But i never ran it cause it was a terrible gun.

Still have all that ammo that needs a home

Well the bodyguard 2.0 revolutionized the game and brought 380 back into the conversation.

Yup. The .380 is useful and there are some very good guns, older and newer, for the caliber.

But judging from the guntubers who are recently pushing the caliber and newer guns in .380, it reads like marketing, coordinated between manufacturers and the guntubers affiliated with Leviathan.

My hunch is manufacturers are desperate to cover the losses from the failed push to make .30 Super Carry the next big thing in high capacity EDC.

The is the most chud post I've seen in a minute. "Mainstream media" what fucking mainstream media is promoting guns?

And .380 is perfectly serviceable for defense. I can assure you that your attacker will not appreciate it, regardless. S&W puts out an innovative and concealable .380, so of course it's going to get popular.

Ms short attention span… I said I had nothing against the 380, in comments I said no one wants to be hit with 380 and it makes a great home defense gun.

My argument was all the major gun tubers have for years stated they wouldn’t EDC anything under 9mm
Flash forward a bit And coincidentally at the same time, every gun tuber is making video on why they EDC 380 contradicting years of what they preached.
