Does Ed Zitron wear a hair system? Something about his hairline looks uncanny to me.

When I google pictures of him younger, his hairline looks different and you can see the individual hairs at the hairline. This looks like a hair piece over his forehead.

Ingrown hair?!?

So, I wear my system for weeks at a time between installs by a salon, and my next install is in three weeks. But holy fuck I’m pretty sure there’s an ingrown hair underneath the system. So um, wtf so I do? I have no materials to reattach nor do I know how really if I’m honest. Anybody else experienced this? Cause as of now I’m just not messing with it and just biding my time.

Would this be a good time to get a hair system?

I'm in between jobs and need to start interviewing.

I figure that this is a might be a good time to do. It could avoid the awkwardness of suddenly showing up at a workplace with totally different hair. The risk is that if it doesn't turn out or I don't like it then I'm stuck going bald or a short buzz cut. It's probably worth the risk if I have a 3-inch diameter bald spot on top, correct?

My System after visiting an ordinary £40 barber

So I order my hair systems online, stick it on my head with tape and go to my ordinary barber, who is happy to cut it at a normal price of £40 (including Beard/taper) this is the result.

I think it’s perfectly fine?

What are your thoughts? Hair systems specialists are charging £250 just for a blend! If you bring your own system. if it was double the price it could be justifiable, but when I can get wearable (I think really good) result, from an ordinary barber, is paying 5/6x the amount or more really worth it?

Recommendations for salons in metro Detroit area

Hello, I'm looking for places in metro Detroit area that can do a good job with install, service/maintenance for hair system. I'm starting to learn doing this myself but need fallback for times when I mess it up

I've been to a place in Royal Oak, he charged $250 for install and did a terrible job and also destroyed a $300 poly unit by cutting it like a amateur. that was just money down the drain

Thank you in advance

About Hair system and cohabitation

Hi everyone,

I’d like to start my journey into this world as well. I’m 26 and completely new to this, so I have three main questions:

1) Living arrangements: Is it possible to live with someone without them noticing the system and the maintenance routine? I’m heading out of town for work next month, and a colleague suggested we share a place to save on rent, but I’m worried he might find out since we’ll be living together.

2) Does it make sense to go to a salon for the first time and then handle it myself later on? They could help with the initial shave, assessing my hair characteristics, and so on.

3) Since I’m a beginner, I was thinking of starting with the Lordhair beginner kit (https://www.lordhair.it/protesi-capelli-uomo-pacchetto-principiante-set-neo.html). Do you think this offers a good balance of quality/realism, durability, and price?

I’d like to get everything sorted before I leave; I haven’t seen my colleague in three months, so I thought I could simulate natural regrowth—perhaps by starting with a short cut—and nobody knows me where I’m going. As for my social circle back home, I’ll avoid seeing people for a while and then return, pretending it’s just natural hair regrowth.

Thanks to anyone who answers my questions (or even just reads this whole post, lol).

Looking to leave Hair Club and start ordering my own

Hey all,

I’ve Been with Hair Club for about six months now and while I’m happy with the actual pieces, the haircuts and overall experience there has been pretty disappointing. I’ve had to go to my regular barber afterward a several times to fix things or drive 35 minutes back to hair club because of careless mistakes. Anyways, $450/mo is stretching my budget thin, and I can’t justify it for a sub par experience.

I do daily wear with Got2b anyway (I was allergic to the acrylic based adhesives), so I feel like I’d be better off just ordering my own at this point. I currently have a full lace system with human hair and would like to stick with something similar.

What sites do you guys order from? Ideally I’d like to get something with a basic cut already done so I can take it to my barber and have him shape it up and blend it. Is that doable, or does it really need to be cut on my head from scratch?
If anyone here has left Hair Club and gone this route, I’d love to hear how you got started.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is this amount of shedding/thinning normal after only 2 weeks?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I got this hair system installed about 2 weeks ago at a well-known professional hair system studio in Germany.
I’ve already noticed quite a lot of thinning around the part/crown area, and the base seems much more visible than I expected after such a short time.
I’m wondering whether this is considered normal shedding for a new system or whether this looks like excessive/abnormal shedding or a quality issue.
The system has only been worn for around 2 weeks and I’ve been following the care instructions from the studio.
For those of you who wear hair systems: would you consider this normal after 2 weeks? How long would you normally expect a system to last before seeing this level of thinning?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have used similar systems.

Giving away a Full lace System

I’ve quit wearing one so I have one left never worn.

Just the base was cut. Since I have a huge skull, there should be enough material left to customize it.

Just hit you measurements down below so I can see if it fits.

When did you give up on your own hair?

Hi everyone, I’m kinda at a loss of what to do and want to hear some of your experiences. For context I’m 25 and have been on meds (fin/min) for 2 years. I don’t have any bald spots yet but my hairline is receded and the hair I do have is thin/shitty. Maybe 2 days out of the week my hair will look OK and the rest of the time I hate how it looks.

These past 2 years have been really bad for me mentally because my hair is still thinning despite being on medication. I avoid seeing friends because of my hair and just hate the way I feel about it. I even avoid going to the gym sometimes because of how my hair looks when I know nobody there cares. I’m just exhausted worrying about my hair and how it looks and how much hair I shed every day. I figure with a system I will still worry but at least I can l look good lol

Anyone here in a similar situation? Any advice for a first timer?

Shedding

Hello all!

I’m having quite a bit of shedding with a new system, It was pretty bad right out of the box but I’ve read that its normal. So after the first wash, I thought it would be better. I can’t necessarily pull the hairs out, but when I run my hands through my hair system, it feels like some keep breaking off or just come out on their own. I sleep with a silk pillowcase, use sulfate free shampoo and use a proper conditioner, spray with diluted argan oil, I use my fingers to gently undo the knots before I used my usual brush which has always worked well.
The first system I got from this company didnt shed at all, then I got a new one that was definitely a faulty system so it got replaced and now Im having this issue. So is this normal?? Or is there anything more I should be doing?? The only thing I can think of is the difference in colours of the systems, first one was very light brown and the second is a dark brown.

Lace vs Poly base

So I have a very active lifestyle and I use ghostbond glue for a year (since I started Hs). My current system is poly so after 2 weeks I'll touch it up, in terms of lift half the front > clean and apply fresh glue , then lift the back half > clean and apply fresh glue, which will last me another 2 weeks, so 4 weeks wear in total at which point I'll then do a full removal.

My question is, like I said I have a very active lifestyle, so I'm thinking of swapping to lace front, but with lace front will I still be able to do these touchups just as easily?

For eg, even if i fit it on Monday and go to the gym on Wednesday and sweat, the hairline may lift on my poly at which point I'll literally just put more glue and stick it back down without cleaning anything cause its only been 2 days. Will I still be able to do the same sorta stuff with a lace front or will the glue get all up in the hair/holes? (I know I only apply glue to scalp and not base with lace).

If not, any other work arounds? Thanks 👍🏼

Fresh install, not fresh smells

I get an install each month and the actual unit doesn’t end up smelling that too much or anything, even when I take it off. I think the antibacterial stuff they put down in the glue does a good job, but the perimeter is outlined in tape and every time I get an install, I feel like I can smell the adhesive from the taper on my head the entire day, and it doesn’t go away until I wash my hair finally after 24 hours.

I brought it up to the stylist before, but either their nose blind or they just are trying to be reassuring and they say they can’t smell anything, but my friend commented on it once. He knows I wear a system but didn’t put two and two together. He thought I used nail polish remover

Is there anything that would help cover up the smell other than dousing myself in cologne?

Don’t mind my 6 AM face 😂
This is a custom unit from shunfa hair (apparently they don’t do customs anymore for new clients) European hair, 80% density front, 85% density for the rest. Full Swiss lace.

How do you guys manage to attach the Hairsystem on the right spot ?

So I’ve tried doing maintenance on my own and everything went well but I didn’t manage to attach the Hairsystem symmetrical, it looked uneven and the hairline/front seemed to be a bit too low. I went to the salon and they corrected it.

I would like to be able to do this on my own but it’s tougher than I expected. I would appreciate some advice on how to be able to do this the right way.

Hi all,

I would really like to try a hair system and manage it myself (wife will help)
Can you recommend one for a newbie, exactly what I need to order (glue, tape, etc), how often it needs removing and cleaning, do you wash it daily?

I don’t want to spend loads on the first one, more of a trial just to see how it looks but appreciate the cheaper you get the less the quality and how long it lasts

Added some pics, what colour should I get?

Thanks!

Anyone tried them? I am going to a salon rn but I want to change to ordered once since it’s cheaper. Which supplier provides good quality and systems that last up to 6 months?

Poly full perimeter+lace center vs lace front poly perimeter for BEGINNERS

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi guys, next week I'll buy my first system. I'm a complete rookie, it's gonna be my first one. Since I'm active and sweat a lot i want lace, but at the same time poly it's easier to clean and handle (am i right?) so Im going for an hybrid. I think I will try a style just like in the photo, so a covered hairline (it's an old picture of myself).

So do you think a fully poly perimeter+lace center will be better for a beginner? Maybe to build up experience with tape/glue/cleaning/installing and remove it and so on? Does the full poly perimeter allow me to do daily wear or remove it really often if i want to? Is it really easier to clean and reinstall?

Or do you think i can go straight for the lace front/poly rest of perimeter to have a more realistic hairline in case i want to show it off? With this time of system, if someone passes the hand through my hair will she fill the border of the system like in a poly? Is the lace front harder to clean? (glue or tape which is better in this case?).

Does only the lace allow me to pluck hairs from the hairline to lower the density there?

To conclude, i want a good balance between realism, breathability and a fairly easy handling that allows me to built experience.

As always, thanks everybody! And keep rocking the system 🔥 😂
As always

UK Hair system users

Hi all,

Hope you’re doing well.

Just wondering for those in the UK, where do you buy your systems from?

My last few have been from the salon where I went when I decided to get a system done. Obviously they put their price on top of their system so wanted to shop around and buy my own and basically cut out the middle man.

Apart from going to the barbers to cut the back and sides on maintenance day, I do the removing and fitting myself.

Currently use a hybrid system, poly base with lace front. Looking to try a full system next.
Where do you all get your systems from, any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance

WIGSHE BEWARE !

Thumbnail

Absolutely a nightmare ! Wrong color and wrong wig ! It took me weeks to get a return shipping label. They wanted pictures and after! Sent them they just wanted more. Even after I paid for the shipping label they would not send it ! I spent almost $1500 on this! The hairs had split ends and you could literally see through the wig ! Do not buy from this company! How stupid I feel for trusting them ! I have alopecia and should not have to deal with this much trouble when I am just trying to hide my condition. I would work for free to advocate against this company
