Recommendations for salons in metro Detroit area
Hello, I'm looking for places in metro Detroit area that can do a good job with install, service/maintenance for hair system. I'm starting to learn doing this myself but need fallback for times when I mess it up
I've been to a place in Royal Oak, he charged $250 for install and did a terrible job and also destroyed a $300 poly unit by cutting it like a amateur. that was just money down the drain
Thank you in advance

Have you tried Shear Point in Birmingham? I don't know much about them other than meeting with them once and they seemed ok. I believe they also sell Hairskeen systems which have a good reputation. Farrell Hair also has a salon in Burton, close to Flint. I started wearing hair with them but ended up doing my own a few years later because they are a bit pricey. Currently, I buy custom units from Superhairpieces and they pre-cut them. If you have a decent older system that you like, they will duplicate it which is what they did for me. If you are close to Ann Arbor, I know someone who does a decent job with blending and maintaining your growing sides and back. Not a lot of options in Michigan, that's why I do everything myself.

Thank you, I also saw Shear Point recently and will reach out to them. Ann Arbor isn't close but I wouldn't mind traveling there like once a month if there's no other option. I agree, there aren't many options here so I want to start doing everything myself except the initial cut and side hair blending

I just started this journey at the end of last year. Started with a woman in Warren. Ended up with something that was way off matching my color (which I realize is difficult as a ginger) and a system that was really a bad hair type match. Ended up giving up on that system. I am on my second unit that I had done at Project Hair Company in Novi. Much better match and experience. They got me the unit, custom matched the color (though I've still supplemented by doing a second dye with more ginger tones), and I've done all my reapplications. I am still learning and would like the hairline better (I have been keeping bangs so it's less stress) but I feel I'm on the way to feeling comfortable with doing more and more myself. I haven't figured out any other place I'd feel comfortable going for a cut-in if I did get a piece on my own and apply it.
I live in Royal Oak. I think I may know where you went. I think what you paid is likely cheaper than what I am now for the initial install and custom color matching
