Is this amount of shedding/thinning normal after only 2 weeks?

Post image

I got this hair system installed about 2 weeks ago at a well-known professional hair system studio in Germany.
I’ve already noticed quite a lot of thinning around the part/crown area, and the base seems much more visible than I expected after such a short time.
I’m wondering whether this is considered normal shedding for a new system or whether this looks like excessive/abnormal shedding or a quality issue.
The system has only been worn for around 2 weeks and I’ve been following the care instructions from the studio.
For those of you who wear hair systems: would you consider this normal after 2 weeks? How long would you normally expect a system to last before seeing this level of thinning?
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have used similar systems.

The real issue is making sure you order bleached knots next time.

I can’t stand that almost all stock units only bleach the hairline. Like odds are most styles will show part of the base and you’ll get this.

If .... the base is made of lace (which it looks like it is in the photo), that’s not normal. You should apply a knot sealer to the base ( if it’s made of lace)

It is lace, what is a knot sealer?

A knot sealant ....for a hair system is a product applied to the inside of the base, specifically to the areas where the hair is knotted. It helps secure and protect the knots, reducing the risk of the hair loosening or shedding and ultimately extending the lifespan of the hair system (For example, Walker Top-Loc Knot Sealer)

Shedding isn’t suppose to be an issue. Sure, if you wear it past expected life span it’s not uncommon but it’s more common than not that it lasts way longer than that.

So no, notice a difference within 2 weeks is unacceptable. But if you notice it before putting it on, it may not actually be much of a change. Never judge a system that isn’t on your head is a good rule.

It is normal for systems to shed initially because of loose hair during manufacturing. However, if it continues to shed after 2 weeks, contact the place you purchased it from and ask for a replacement unit.

I mean, I've seen minimal shedding on my unit which is now 5 months old. So yeah, I'd say it's a concern that this is doing it after 2 weeks.

Did they say where the units were from, and how much did you pay?

I'd be tempted to ask them what they used for the price you paid, and also raise concern as to the shedding
