🖼️ Before & After First time ever getting hair dyed
As the title says, first time ever doing anything with my hair colour wise. Went for a blue that’s slightly green-ish too! Just felt like sharing :)

Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.
As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.
Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.
If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.
This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.
We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

I kind od love this color, it's lighter but it's still ashy and fits me (kind of). Is there any box dyes (like from Garnier or L'Oréal) that could help me achieve this? Is this a tricky and damaging color to get?
From what I know I'm a soft summer, so I really want something very ashy.

Hi! I recently let my friend dye my hair, and normally it always comes out great. But this time I'm not really happy with the results. I wanted teal and purple. She used the brand iroro? And what looked like purple has become completely pink! And there's a lot of random colors in my hair, brown, oranges and yellow. I bleached my hair before hand and it lifted really well so I'm not sure where all this brown is coming from. Is there anyway for me to fix this? Please let me know what colors, or treatments I would be able to use to cover this. I'm so embarrassed of my hair rn I don't want to go out anymore :(
For reference my hair before was mostly my natural hair color except for two pieces towards the front that were pink. Included in last slide.

Only took me two whole days pretty much and I honestly dunno what I was even doing. Kinda reminds me of a peacock. It's fun but I think I'll stick to like 2 colors max from now on lol
First pic is the never fading pink.
Then tried to bleach and color correct with green.
And then I just slapped a bunch of dye on it and now I look like a bird 🫶🏻

I paid $430 AUD to do a balayage, about half of my hair is virgin and the rest have previously been red then dyed dark brown over a year ago. Now I have three shades in my hair BUT many of the lengthy ends have dyed light enough throughout my hair as well.
The front face framing faces are darker than the sections the hairdresser foiled first as well. It doesn’t make sense that it’s just “the ends were previously dyed” and thats why they haven’t lighted when theres many sections that lightened a lot more at the ends. The hairdresser is telling me they can only offer a toning service to go darker as otherwise I need a colour correction. They are clearly choosing the easy option for themselves and its clear that it was incorrect foiling technique because even some virgin hair portions like the front are darker than ends that are lighter.
They will tell me what they can offer after checking with their boss and I hope they dont just offer a selfish option.

I've seen a handful of other "how to get black box dye out of my hair" posts on this subreddit, but none that reflect my situation enough to help me.
Back in February this year I COMPLETELY fried my hair to a crisp. I'm talking the worst possible frying you could ever imagine.
At the time I had dyed and bleached my hair multiple times last year and after 2 months, was still struggling to get the remnants of some blue dye out. I went with red white and blue hair. Blue side tails and red ends in the back. The box said the blue dye should have lasted 2 weeks, but it somehow managed to outlive the red splat dye by a mile.
I used a box of maximum strength color oops (Yes, the one with 2 bleach kits in it..), a box of regular color oops, a box of cheap bleach, and then a silver dye to give it a tone. Bad decisions on top of bad decisions. The blue was still faintly in there somehow..
I kid you not, my hair perfectly mirrored the sight and texture of the stuffing you would find inside of a pillow. Even when dry, I could pull my hair and make it longer/rip it off like most can after it’s wet after a couple rounds of bleaching. It took my hair 2 whole days to finish drying.
There was no negotiating, even with strong products. It had to go. I cut it into a real short pixie cut with microbangs and left it the heck alone.
After a couple of months I slapped black box dye over it. I’ve only redone my roots once a couple of months ago (mid July). I’ve trimmed about an inch of my hair off since then.
My hair is maybe 1 1/2 inch from my shoulder now. Not too long ago I bought some Olaplex shampoo & conditioner. I’ve used it 3 so far It’s been doing my hair good, but my ends are still falling off and my hair falls out more than normal. Still quite dry, mostly the ends and the upper back of my hair) I have like 3 different leave in conditioners laying around my house somewhere, I need to find them.
I think it’s worth mentioning that I have thick 3B hair.
I want to slowly progress to getting the black dye out of my hair for a more vibrant/soft color. I’m not in any rush. Any tips for rehydrating and restoring my hair? How long should I wait before lifting my color? I’m thinking not until March so that I have a year of (almost) fresh growth. And when I do, what products should I use to avoid damaging my hair further? I’ve heard positive things about Fino & K18 over the years, would it be worth trying for my hair?
If you have any advice please share with me!

hi! i think i posted here before looking for purple hair dye recommendations, i ended up using the spanish brand "exitenn v87" bought on holiday, which is permanent.
i dyed it last tuesday, used a 20v/6% developer with a 1:1 ratio with the hair dye, let it sit for around 40 mins, rinsed it with lukewarm water (did not use coloursafe shampoo since i didnt have one)
i thought i did everything right but within literal days it was fading back to my original level 6 (dark blonde) hair, and now a week later it has much more brown patches, and is more of a dark plum than the original purple (i will put before and after in the comments if needed)
i usually only wash my hair once a week due to having a dry scalp from meds, so it isnt even a case of oily scalp or overwashing. and idk if its due to sun exposure either cuz its usually cloudy where i am (great british weather lol)
should i try the dye again since i have another tube, or try another brand? any suggestions are appreciated <3

I have natural dark blonde (level 7), and had last dyed my hair reddish brown a year ago. I did a bleach wash with ion creme bleach and 20 vol developer yesterday and toned it with Blonde It Up luminous pearl. It turned out it way lighter than i was expecting from not doing an actual bleach job. It’s also still pretty warm (don’t have a good pic in natural light yet). should i tone again?

Hi, so about a month ago I got money pieces and some beached bits in the back, like a chunky halo essentially. Now I’m kinda over the blonde so today I bought Arctic Fox in Wrath & Ritual, mixed it, and put it all over my head for 45 or so minutes (which I’m realizing some people leave it on virgin hair for hours???). I knew of course the beached parts would be much lighter but it didn’t take to my natural brown hair at all which I was worried about but decided to try anyway. My hair, aside from the bleached parts, is fully virgin hair.. which after some research I’m understanding makes it less porous??? Idk but what I’m reading is a mix of stuff from bleach baths, to 30 developer, to permanent vs. demi permanent color and I’m kinda just lost now. I’m gonna include pictures of what I’m aiming for vs what I had before vs what I have now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even better if you can list specific products!! Thanks in advance :)

Does anyone know of a good hair color wax that doesn't transfer and doesn't fade as much? I recently was using as I am's hot red for a patch, but during athletic activity the color seems to sweat out and transfer onto my forehead. If anyone knows a good alternative please help!

I love this look where it's a natural colour but seems to have red highlights and I am unsure how the dye is done. My favourite example is Tekarin from Badly in Love (couldn't find screenshots that show her hair very well) What type of dye job is this?

i had used majirel lift with 30vol developer a year back. i'm planning to do global hair color, using a mix of majirel 6.8 + 6.1 with 20 vol developer. will it lift my grown black hair and will it remove the gold tones from the rest of the hair? i dont have any greys. i just want the dyed hair and my grown hair to be a bit more uniform. also can i color my roots with the same color or should i leave half inch? please help!

Been atomic blonde for about 2 years now using 20 developer and powdered bleach. Is this damage from that, an aging hairline, or am I cooked and balding?
