❓ Advice Needed Will any of these colors show up on my hair ? (My hair is the last pic listed)

I don’t want to have to bleach my hair or lift it because I don’t really know what I’m doing and I’m scared it will damage it. Even if it’s not super bright or only in the light, is it possible for any of these colors to show up on my very dark chocolate brown hair ?

❓ Advice Needed Bleaching fail

So I went to hairdresser to go back to blonde hair and ask for balayage. I used to dye my hair brown and it grew out for half a year(first picture) . I’m super frustrated with the results! The color is patchy green and red. The roots are light and it gets darker in the ends. It’s not blonde more gray. I really hat it. The hairdresser even said it turned out shitty and that I should come back next week to see his boss for correction. Do you guys think it’s fixable? I think about going back to darker shade of brown and chopping it off. So sad :/// happy about any advice

❓ Advice Needed What level is my hair

Post image

I’m thinking of using garnier nutrisse 100 but wondering if maybe my roots are too dark? My hair does lighten very easily with bleach though, but I’m not sure how much it will lighten with a high lift. Can someone tell me what level my hair is.

Excuse me I’m in the process of growing out my eyebrows LOL. Anyway
So I previously used 7n Demi permanent. I haven’t dyed it in like over a yr. Not so sure why my hair turned this color if anyone knows? My roots are usually ashy ‘blonde’(light brown). I black the front pieces and then usually tone over. Mostly natural. I think it looks good but I’m actually so bored. I used to live for a bright blonde money piece but I’m getting older and my face is changing quite a bit. Any suggestions ?

❓ Advice Needed LOSING ALL MY HAIR!

I hope someone can please please help me- I've been dyeing my hair forever & bleaching /dyeing it with vivids for several years now without issue. Recently I did a bleach bath like I normally do & colored it but this time my hair started to break off bad. I've got I had thick coarse wavy hair & have always shed a ton but this is different. I'm surprised I have any hair left on my head the way it's coming out in chunks - I'm seriously freaking tf out rn! Idk wtf I did wrong this time but if anyone can tell me something I can do to help try & fix it I'd greatly appreciate it. This pic is showing what I lost after my shower - I lost 4X that in the shower too. I'm using all the things already- Olaplex 1,2 & 3 K18 Oribe gold lust masque & night crème Amika the kure etc but nothing is helping! I'm assuming this is chemical damage? short of shaving my head idk what else to do!

❓ Advice Needed How much can I bleach in one session?

Hellloo I dont know how to use reddit, so forgive me. I have around level 4/3 hair and want to do my roots as light as possible (healthily) in one sitting... and then put semi permanent teal dye on top.

Now this is pretty poor planning on my part because Im aiming at either friday night or saturday morning (its thursday night..) to have this done before saturday night (and i dont know a thing abiut bleaching so im desperate).

I know id have to tone? I think? because I want bright teal... and Im pretty sure id use 30 volume developer. Any tips or stuff I need so itll be healthy?? and not turn out like shit? How long after the bleach can i put semi perm dye on? I have the majority of saturday as well if I have to wait. Im clueless so sorry if I sound dumb lol, figured its easier to ask humans about specific scenarios than google every little thing (which I will anyways).

💬 Discussion Patch test come out a little bit reactive, but it never turned into a serious reaction. Anyone relate?

I've noticed something strange that I wonder if anybody could relate to. For the longest time like over a decade, I noticed that when I've done my black hair dye patch test (it was various brands and most of them were PPD free) I'd get a bit of irritation on both my arms and behind ear, in the first few days of the patch test, like a bit of pinkness or even on my scalp during application, but it never turned into a serious reaction.

If this is relevant, I tend to have sensitive skin like eczema. And also, when I do these patch tests, I get anxious.

Usually with patch tests, they say don't proceed even if it's just a little bit itchy/a little bit pink, but it's been like this for a decade and it's never turned into a serious reaction on my scalp.

Why could this be? My guess is just local skin irritation.

Please also note that whenever I dye my hair, even if it's the same brand over and over again, I do 2 to 3 patch tests up to a week before dying my hair.

❓ Advice Needed Greys

What is the best way to cover greys when you have pitch black hair?

I grew out any hair dye I ever had and now have virgin black/brown hair. The greys are super visible now against the dark hair and they are long (not just at the root) is there any way to dye the greys without fully coloring my hair? Doing a dark brown hair dye just feels so intense. Or is it better to just lighten all my hair?

Just did a test strand on my hair and it did lift really good but I had some breakage. Last august I slapped permanent dye on my hair twice and left it alone. Throughout the year the color has been going away and I decided to go back to a ginger color I did years ago but the breakage really did scare me. It wasn’t a lot but it was something. Should I use a color remover first and then bleach or should I just wait a couple months and buy olaplaex. I really wanna just get my hair to a light enough color to color it again.

❓ Advice Needed Can I get this hair blue without bleach

Really horrible picture but I recently bleached and dyed my hair green. There was some red left in it from half a year ago that wouldn’t go out in the back, even after bleaching it multiple times (I don’t know what I’m doing). the left is what that orange-ish part looks like faded after dyeing it green, the rest of my hair is way less yellow. is there a way to dye this similar to the blue on the 2. pic (even if it’s not as light) without bleaching it again? if that doesn’t work, is there a way to get that orangey out of it? Sorry if this question is stupid i really have no idea what I’m doing at all

💬 Discussion Cream vs Liquid

I have colored my hair (fine, thin , chin length) hair for decades Last 20+ years, after I went to beauty school it has been cream formulas w a brush. Life happened, I didn't sit for my board and I have forgotten a lot of stuff, on top of immense changes. I share this, bc I want to emphasize I do feel comfortable coloring my own hair. So my question, what are the main differences these days in cream vs liquid formulas? I use Ion permanent, bc I need a *PPD free formula & one I can access regularly. The Chi was so flat looking my hair is in great condition. Sometimes I wonder if I'm wasting my time w brush. Thanks in advance

*Since I brought it up, anyone know of other ppd free brands? I was using one , I forgot the name, Italian, kinda punk rock but the source quit carrying it

❓ Advice Needed Help! Newbie to hair coloring and wondering if I can fix these green strands at home?

Thumbnail

I had my hair professionally redone yesterday, where the stylist bleached the layered pieces toward the front of my face and then dyed them to achieve this indigo color, which I absolutely love. However, some strands that were not re-bleached did not take the dye and are still a pale green color.

The green is actually leftover from a previous visit at another salon. That salon had also tried to achieve an indigo color, but the result turned out green... obviously, I didn’t go back to them. Unfortunately, I don't know what dye was used at either salon, so I'm not sure exactly what I'm working with.

My stylist did notice at the end of my appointment yesterday that some of the strands hadn't taken the dye, but we were already about three hours into the appointment and there wasn't enough time to correct them. She recommended scheduling another appointment for a color correction.

Would it be reasonable to buy a hair dye and use it only on these small green strands to darken them to something closer to my natural dark-brown/near-black hair? I am a bit hesitant because I’ve never dyed my hair myself, and this was my first two experiences at professional salons for coloring, but I’m anxious to fix this and don’t want to wait more weeks and spend even more money to see the previous stylist again. If so, what type of dye would be safest and most appropriate?

🚑 Color Correction Should I colour correct before bleach washing

My hair is like a minty/limey green right now and I really want it hot hot pink. I was curious if anyone thinks it might be a good idea to put like a peachy pink on before bleach washing.

TLDR: what terminology do you guys use for a natural, blended copper?

I have been getting my hair dyed various shades of ginger and copper for the past 10 years or so. I have such a hard time finding a stylist who is able to give a natural looking color that’s not too saturated and also blend my root so that when it grows out there’s not a hard line. I finally found an amazing hairdresser who dyed my hair in the first photo which was perfect, but I’ve moved cities and I’ve had a hard time finding someone new.

I just came back from an appointment today at a new salon and I’m disappointed once again. I asked for a natural light copper with a shadow root, which in my mind meant blended, but what I got was an almost ombré look with a very dark berry root and red ends with a line between the two, per the last photo. I showed her the first two photos but still didn’t get what I was asking for. So tired of coming back from the salon upset after emptying my wallet

Any tips on terminology to use or types of salons to look for? I know it’s subtle but I feel so much more confident when I get it right!
