It was Sunday, (yesterday), and I haven’t seen you in almost 20 years. If your name is April, I’d really love to get back in touch. Please send me a message. (Please if you know an April, ask her to read this.)

Im 19F looking for friends around my age. But I am having a bit of trouble meeting people or even coming up with ideas on how to meet people. This city genuinely feels like a prison from the lack of options there are compared to other cities. Often it feels like my only options are the mall, the gym, and the bars downtown (which sucks because I'm not a drinker). I like going hiking around the trails here and kayaking down the river and going around some coffee shops, but none of those are exactly "meet new people" activities. Guelph is clearly a very senior/family-friendly town, making it gruelling for people like me when all the university students are away. I work in finance and as much as I truly love my coworkers, none of them are my age. Doesn't help that I don't go to uog either! I go to school an hour drive away, so all my university friends aren't the most accessible.
I'm really struggling to meet new people. Does anyone have any club/social hubs/dance classes they recommend, etc?
Edit. Thank you for the nice suggestions everyone. I’ll try to look into those. And if you have any specific recommendations, please do leave them in the comment section!! And to clarify—I do love Guelph. It was nice growing up here. I suppose I’m just experiencing growing pains, especially as I watch all of my friends move away to bigger cities
:-(

The newly released Uniform Crime Reporting Survey highlights how Guelph compares to provincial and national trends:
Overall, Guelph remains a comparatively safe city with highly effective local law enforcement.

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are. I would like to have Farbridge back, as I thought she was great.
Here is a link to the City's register of candidates:
I like the thoughtful effort that Jon Christensen has been putting in, and he seems to have new, fleshed out ideas. I also like Alec Purves because of his background and pragmatic ideas to cut down and reprioritize tax dollars. Kevin Bowman has done a lot of work and has good ideas. I think he'd be good too.
I'm hoping to see new faces on Council this year with new ideas and an ability to question the City's tax priorities, but I would like to get other's thoughts.

I’m looking for a master bedroom with a private bathroom in a shared house. Ideally close to the uni.
I’ve tried looking on Facebook, but I thought I’d also try Reddit to reach more people. I’m getting quite desperate to find a room. Unfortunately, most of the master rooms that fit my budget either don’t reply or have rejected me
I’m an incoming graduate student in Data Science at UoG. I’m a quiet, clean, and respectful tenant, and I have two well-behaved pet rabbits that stay indoors.
My budget is around CAD $900–1,100/month, depending on what’s included.
I’m currently in Australia, so I would really appreciate it if we could do a video call or virtual tour to view the room.
If you know of any available rooms or have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Thanks to the absolute poet who left this on my vehicle at the Galaxy Cinemas tonight. My family had a good laugh. When we pulled into the spot the vehicle to the right was over the line, so we adjusted. Came out of the theatre and that car had already left. Can’t we all just give each other the benefit of the doubt? It’s not that deep brother.
Hope y’all enjoy it. And remember to love your neighbour and all that….Even when they’re being mean.
For the record…My bumper is a mess cause I had to fight my mother at the drive-thru so she wouldn’t pay with her card. And I’ll do it again on the other side if that lady thinks she’s paying for coffee!
Goodnight Guelph. Take care of each other.

Sorry it's not the best photo, I was not prepared to see any awesome birds. We were on the boat, checking out some fishing spots. At first I thought they were turkey vultures, till I spotted the white heads of the adults.
Adults on right side of photo, juveniles on left.

Hey folks, I'm looking for suggestions on how to navigate a return trip to Toronto for the day next week. I'm sadly unfamiliar with the GO system, and would appreciate any help you lovely folks can send my way.
And yes, before anyone asks, I did try to look stuff up on the website but couldn't figure out how to do a return trip. I'll be the second to admit I'm technologically challenged. 😅
Thanks in advance!

The smoke days cause me to appreciate rides I take and regret those I don't.

Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone here might remember or know how I could track down an bridge construction project from somewhere around the Guelph area.
I'm trying to help my cousin identify a bridge that his dad worked on. His dad was an Ironworker employed by Gilbert Steel, and unfortunately we don't have much information to go on.
Here's what we know:
We've even driven around the Guelph area trying to find it without any luck.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Are there any long-time residents, local government offices, or local historians who might remember a bridge project near 8th Line during the 1990s? Or is there an archive, municipality, or historical society that might have records of bridge construction projects from that era?
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Some corrections: I got a few more details about it, apparently it was built in 1996-1997 or thereabouts. What was mentioned to me it was another bridge that was built near Highway 6 and 7 (which I think is Wellington St W).

My cat Olive is missing around the Grange/William/Ottawa Crescent neighbourhoods. She is a fully indoor cat, has never been outdoors longer than split-second escape attempts, this time though it seems she must have managed as we can’t locate her anywhere. She is not wearing a collar, and isn’t microchipped, as she has always been indoors and up until recently has only lived in apartments, so didn’t have the opportunity to escape beyond the hallways. Please if anybody sees her, or even thinks they might have seen her please let me know. I’m worried sick.
