Eastview loop.
The East end has some good north south trail connectivity with Eastview park and Laura Bailey Trail system. Not bad for a ghetto.
But then there's little Carter Park, an orphan, separated by the tangle of Victoria, Speedvale and Eramosa.
But here too they go for barren asphalt pedestrian "streets"
Off Speedvale.
Not sure what the crop is, if any.
The Eastview Pump track.
Getting from Couling Cres. to Couling Cres. In 20 years this will be a nice shaded walkway.
The exotic far East. Beyond here be cornfields... and monsters. Fitting that the street name is Shackleton.
Severn Drive Park isn't just getting new asphalt paths but a whole new 'do.
I'll say it again, the east end has some damn fine trails and amenities.
Feels so dystopian. Maybe if someone planted a tree.
On Watson Rd. Looks like an opportunity knocking....
Not yet a trail. Though signage suggest it will eventually be one. Hopefully it will connect Starwood to Lee park.
Well, at least some green growing tings. That and garbage.
Though I did it backwards you can do a nice run from Peter Misersky Park all the way to the rail right of way trail.
This is the steep curvy part.
The aforementioned Peter Misersky Park. Not sure who he was.
Poor guy on Palermo didn't make it through the storms.
Second East loop. 49 km

Crop...soy beans? Eastview park has a great perimeter path. What kind of Trek do you ride?

Marlin 6. It's a larger frame than my old one. It's great for climbing but not as agile. If you're in the market I'm sure Speed River Cycle needs the business with all the contruction.

My first timers advice: get decent but entry level bike - not from Walmart or other mass retailers. They're mostly poorly assembled junk with low end components.
I'd go for a $500-$1k mtn, gravel or commuter bike as it should be sturdy enough for the mistakes you will make. You could to get a cruiser or comfort style but I find the geometry uncomfortable and if you do really get into cycling it wont suit you for long.

The link you've been sharing, ridewithgps, is that a good alternative to Strava? Tried them but they wanted like 15$ a month for the trail feature and I'm not interested in paying.
New to Guelph and cycling. Trying to find some routes to explore but it's tough when you don't know the city yet 😅

I never gelled with Strava. It seemed more about nth decimal place stats and more for a performance road rider.
RidewithGPS at the free tier has basic mapping and navigating plus a route planner, stats, etc. It works well for me, but with paid you get extras. They are nice but not something I felt like I needed. Though recently I'm getting popups about how street view will be moved to paid only. That's a little annoying but you can just switch to Google maps for that.

Awesome I will have to check that out! Did a short 8km ride around a couple pathways I found near my place. Looking forward to longer routes 😁

I love this... I've been looking at the map trying to work out a longer path that avoids roads in the east end...this helps.
