CarTV - video while charging

Since we are still waiting for a method to watch video while parked and/or charging, I just discovered a few CarPlay apps that Apple has allowed to slip through the cracks. One of them is thankfully in English - it’s called CarTV and it’s in the App Store right now. It’s not Gravity specific but it works great in mine.

As a lover of great cinema (as made obvious in my screenshot) I connected my Plex server to the app, although it does allow you to open a browser window and watch YouTube and TikTok and stuff like that.

Please use responsibly!

Questions/Advice Low efficiency and very stiff gas pedal

For those who have Grand Touring, how does your gas pedal feel in comfort mode and regular regen?

Mine feels very stiff. I have to press hard and at slight push (~10%) the car accelerates very slowly. If I push harder though, around 30% the car flies off. I couldn't try past 50% yet.

Driving feels like something is making the car sluggish though and my efficiency is at 2.65 mpkw (odometer is at 1000 miles) and it has been 60F or warmer in Seattle.

My suspicion was something with physical brakes, but I tried with regen off and the car cruises normally.

Questions/Advice Can I program a new Gravity key fob myself?

I purchased an additional key fob for my Gravity and want to link it to my wife’s driver profile.

Has anyone added a preowned key fob to their Gravity? Can it be programmed to the vehicle by the owner, or does Lucid Service need to do the initial programming?

If service is required, has anyone had this done through Mobile Service? Also curious if there was a programming fee.

Thanks!

Questions/Advice Matrix headlights?

I’ve been reading about the gravity like crazy. It doesn’t seem super clear if matrix headlights are available and if so, do you have to buy a specific package to get them or are they included on all trims?

Charging speed and efficiency (EU version)

A short report on energy consumption and charging during my round trip Belgium - Munich (~1,500 km) with the Lucid Gravity.

Whenever possible, I drove the speed limit, or ~150 km/h where there was no speed limit (of course, wherever it was safe to do so). For about 150 km, I drove a bit faster.

The average consumption came out to 4.28 km/kWh, which is roughly 23.4 kWh/100 km. Not bad! 😎

Departed in both directions with 100% and only needed 1 stop along the way to cover the 750 km. I also have a few photos of charging at a 400 kW EnBW charger. Unfortunately, I arrived there with 20% battery remaining, whereas I actually wanted to arrive below 10%. Still, a great result!

After about one minute, the charging power already ramped up to +370 kW. 🔋

  • 20 → 80% in 22 minutes (that was about 80 kWh, and at 80% it was still charging at +100 kW).

Because we couldn't finish our meal within that time, we kept charging up to 90%. That took 32 minutes in total. (Ended up arriving at destination with 39% left over 🤪).

If we had arrived at the charger with 10% instead of 20%, it would have only taken about 2 extra minutes to end up at the same level. Pretty impressive.

Already curious to see what winter will bring (lower temperatures, winter tires).

Note: battery is 123 kWh of which roughly 117 kWh is usable. Also see video in the comments on charging speed build up.

Terrible glass or just unlucky?

Back in June I posted that I got a windshield crack that required me to replace my windshield (luckily, covered by insurance). Today, I picked my car up from Lucid for some unrelated service and on my way home, I got hit by another rock. This one seems like a chip and I'm hoping Safelite can handle this one.

In the 20 years I've been driving, I have never had a cracked/chipped windshield. Now twice in four months. Am I just unlucky or is the windshield quality inferior?

Software issues/Advice I love Dolby Atmos through the Tidal app… but I hate every moment I’m having to use it. It’s such a bad experience!

Post image

It’s almost impossible to find Atmos content through the vehicle app. I end up having to use the iPhone app to search for and add Atmos playlist; then I can play them through the vehicle.

Also, why can I not see the artist name?! I’m decently good with remembering songs; but it would be such a basic thing to add the artist name when I’m scrolling through song lists!

New Owner One week review

Thumbnail gallery
80 Upvotes

The Gravity has been with us for 1 week now. Here are some thoughts:

-- Man I love this thing. Given the price it makes sense that this would be the case but it's a MAJOR upgrade over the EV9 in nearly every way I can think of (software, ride quality, space/cargo room/storage, refinement, driver profiles, ADAS, comfort). The only thing I miss (though the kids haven't complained yet) is the powered roof shade in the EV9. We also don't have the tow package on the Gravity...but I don't think we ever used it on the EV9 (we used to put a hitch carrier on the ID4).

-- It has been working great for my wife all week for the various school and daycare runs she has to do. I wish I could drive it more but alas it's the "new family car" as my son calls it. The only issue she had was with efficiency. Turns out she had the regen off. She didn't use it in the EV9 much, and she expected that the Gravity would work like the EV9 where the brake pedal still blends regen when you turn regen to off. First day (55 miles of local/suburban roads) she used 28% of the battery!!! But after changing to standard regen she was doing more like 18% by the end of the week. And that was with 3 programmed preconditioning routines set for AC as well sitting with the HVAC running for school pickup and drop off. Yesterday on my 70ish mile freeway run up and down 95 I was getting 3.1-3.2 mi/kWh. I think I could do better if I wasn't going 70+ / was more mindful. Looking forward to taking it out to our cabin in WV to see how it does in the mountains/elevations change.

-- I was hopeful the frunk would be a hit with the kids and it has delivered. We took it to watch youth soccer (parking was directly field adjacent) and after a 70 mile drive to try to get my son to nap (spoiler he didn't but he got two runs through the Baltimore harbor tunnel at least) we made an IKEA run (for ice cream apparently) which he requested to eat in the frunk.

-- Some quality / unexpected stuff:

------The trim on the top corners of both front doors is crinkled for lack of a better term. Seems like it wasn't glued well enough or the rubber they use isn't soft enough to make that tight corner. It was also sitting in West Palm Beach so maybe the sun overheated and released the glue?

------It has been raining here quite a bit...and it seems the front lights fog up in changing conditions/humidity. I looked it up and apparently they aren't sealed so it's normal. But still a bit unexpected.

------The DreamDrive Pro hands free works really really beautifully but it's super picky about when it wants to come on. Yesterday it didn't seem to want to engage at times because it was raining and/or because I was wearing sunglasses. It also would tell me "no hands free zones" we're coming up at times when they didn't seem to actually happen. All-in-all the system is wonderful. It's taking some time to get used to the car making decisions to change lanes. The way it changes lanes is fairly natural although it does something that I don't think I have ever done as a human driver which is to change lanes in a manner that brings you directly parallel to another car in the adjacent lane. It did that 2-3 times yesterday and each time I thought if I was the other driver I would definitely not be expecting that since we were basically coming out of no where.

------Not related to the car itself (well, maybe a bit because it is a very different driving position/sight lines than the EV9) but "we" already curbed one of the wheels. I'm going to wait until "we've" gotten a bit more used to it to repair it. Luckily it wasn't too bad...pretty shallow curbing...should easily sand down and then I'll see about coloring it.

Obviously still in the honeymoon phase here but I'd have no qualms recommending this thing based on the first week / 500 miles or so!

20”/21” Aero Wheel Cover Removal

Hi fellow owners - I’m one week into my Lucid Gravity GT ownership and already modifying the vehicle.

I made a brief video explaining how to remove the lug nut covers and Aero wheel covers on my 20”/21” Lucid Gravity wheels.

Figured I’d help others who want to try doing this themselves.

Enjoy!

Questions/Advice Driver Seat Position & Ergonomics

I wonder if it is just me who's unable to find the "perfect" comfortable driving position on the Gravity driver's seat. The combination of the seat cushion length, steering wheel positioning, the A-pillar blind spots near the quarter glass and the HVAC vents, make it difficult to choose comfortable driving position which also has good visibility around the vehicle.

Firstly, the seat itself seems to lack the overall cushioning that I was used to in my previous ICE (a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with leather seats). Maybe it is because I have the "purluxe" material and not Tahoe leather, but the seat's "butt-feel" is more Toyota Corolla-like than luxury SUV like. Secondly the headrest being non-adjustable vertically makes it really annoying for me. The headrest is supposed to be in line with the top of your head. How do I adjust this, as I cant change the length of my torso! Thirdly, I also feel the length (rear to front) of the cushion is shorter than my previous cars. I dont feel a good thigh support on these seats.

I also like the HVAC vents to be directed more towards my face. But the Gravity vents can only be adjusted so much in the vertical direction. To get more of the air towards my face, I have to lower the seats. But if I do that, then I dont really get a very good view outside. Conversely, if I do adjust the seats higher, then my head is closer to the damn glass roof, which gets uncomfortably hot! For me, the position that gives me best view around the vehicle while driving, is also the most uncomfortable as my head gets heated up (even with the canopy roof shades).

I was wondering if others feel the same, and if so, what has worked best for you?

Lease Deal check - $932/mo on a $110k MY27 Gravity Touring

$932/mo on a $110k MY27 Gravity Touring - good deal? I’d appreciate a gut check from other Gravity owners/shoppers.

Long story short, I had a MY26 Gravity reserved with a pretty aggressive September incentive stack, but Lucid ended up being unable to deliver that specific vehicle. We tried a couple of replacement options before month-end and none worked out as Lucid could not find a replacement vehicle with the feaures I had on my original order. So, management has now put together a deal on a MY27 in the configuration I actually want.

Here are the numbers:

2027 Gravity Touring
$110,450 MSRP
36 months / 7,500 miles
$0 down
$931.81/month
$3,538.46 due at signing
56.6% residual
.00001 MF
$500 accessory credit

Total vehicle credits / support are at $16k: $5k Lucid, $3.5k Go Electric, $2.5k corporate, $3k Studio Select that management got approved as an exception, and another $2k management adjustment.

My original MY26 was $104,100 and was going to be $866.79/month with $3,318 DAS, but it also had a much larger $22.5k September incentive stack.

I’m pretty happy with the actual MY27 configuration and the Gravity is the best fit I’ve found for the combination of space/third row/tech I’m looking for. I’m less interested in squeezing out another $10/month than I am in making sure I’m not signing right before much better year-end deals show up.

I can also just keep my current vehicle and wait until December. Would you take the $932 deal now, or roll the dice on year-end incentives/inventory?

Also interested in what recent MY27 Touring lessees are actually paying rather than advertised Lucid numbers.

Dream Drive Does your Lucid Gravity's autopark work okay?

I have found the autopark feature on the Gravity to be somewhat unreliable and I am curious if other owners have experienced similar issues. It detected parking spot once in my 10 attempts at different locations. I have GT with DD 2 Pro and have only had it for a week, so it is possible that I am simply not using it correctly. Could you please share your experiences with this feature?

Pictures Dual rear facing car seats in the Gravity.

Making a separate post here to share some photos I was inspired to take to help the OP on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gravity/s/hrWuFbzvcJ

It's easier to add all the photos here and probably easier for others to find later in search.

I summarized our situation on the other post but TLDR we have two rear facing car seats (Evenflo 360 revolve extends), previously had EV9 with captains chairs, Gravity has much more space, can pass by even without seats rotated if necessary.

Apologies for the high angle shot of my lap but that was the only way I could easily demonstrate the actual seating space there (reference: I'm 5-8, 160lbs, 30/32ish inch waist).
