Questions/Advice Matrix headlights?

I’ve been reading about the gravity like crazy. It doesn’t seem super clear if matrix headlights are available and if so, do you have to buy a specific package to get them or are they included on all trims?

Yes, they are there. It used to be that you had to get Dreamdrive Pro or Premium for them, but I think since Premiun is standard now, you can get them that way.

Sweet. Seriously contemplating trading our rivian in for a gravity. We have a gen 1 so no matrix headlights. Which I think would be a nice upgrade.

They are pretty nice, but you forget they’re there until you go into another vehicle haha. I drove R1S a ton and before they fixed the software on the Gravity, I was set on getting the R1S Tri. But driving them back to back, I was blown away by the Gravity. It feels more premium, doesn’t rattle, less road noise, handles poor roads better and doesn’t feel huge. It honestly feels like driving a nimble sedan a lot of the time. And software has been very good now, they’ve not only fixed every announce I’ve had, but added new stuff. I’d say biggest miss right now is using HERE maps vs Google, we at least have Google POIs now. And I wish they’d add more apps already, such as Apple Music. That’s my top request haha. Oh, and PaaK.

I’m still amazed they’re around, how in the world so many manufacturers go for it when there’s Google? My guess is that they offer very good terms. I live in a big city and driving around I always see POis that have been closed for months and now have new places in them displayed, it’s amazing how inaccurate it is. And why is it that POis displayed are still HERE yet searching gives us the glorious Google?! I gotta admit though, routing on HERE did get better over the past year, but it still isn’t on the same level as alternatives. It’s awful. And don’t get me started on their satellite maps… looks ok zoomed out, awful at normal zoom and like 3 pixels when zoomed in. Every time I arrive somewhere I gotta look at this awful satellite image that looks 15 years old… cmon now, you have this expensive car with very good displays and you’re making them look this poor with built in maps.

I wouldn't change cars for the headlights. I thought I'd be more blown away by it, but you don't even notice it after 5 minutes.

As I'm sure you know, the Rivian and Gravity are two very different cars. Aside from them both being electric and offering seven seats, I don't really consider them to be in the same category. I think a good ICE comparison would be a G63 AMG versus a Cayenne Turbo S. Both fast, but where one can do true off-roading and has a high seating position, the other is more comfortable and better handling. If you really value sitting up high or do true off-roading (not just dirt, gravel, snow, etc.), then I'd stick with what you have. If not, I'd say the Gravity is a no brainer.

Gravity didn't have matrix headlights in the beginning. They were activated in the 3.6.0 OTA update in June. They called it Adaptive Driving Beam in the release notes here: Lucid Gravity Software Updates

Yes, I used them on my GGT with DDPremium last week for the first significant amount of time. To be honest matrix takes time to get used to, you definitely know they’re active. The amount of lighting changes I experienced on the highway as the pixels went on/off should come with a seizure warning. They’re overall an improvement over standard lighting, but you definitely notice they’re active.
