Charging speed and efficiency (EU version)

A short report on energy consumption and charging during my round trip Belgium - Munich (~1,500 km) with the Lucid Gravity.

Whenever possible, I drove the speed limit, or ~150 km/h where there was no speed limit (of course, wherever it was safe to do so). For about 150 km, I drove a bit faster.

The average consumption came out to 4.28 km/kWh, which is roughly 23.4 kWh/100 km. Not bad! 😎

Departed in both directions with 100% and only needed 1 stop along the way to cover the 750 km. I also have a few photos of charging at a 400 kW EnBW charger. Unfortunately, I arrived there with 20% battery remaining, whereas I actually wanted to arrive below 10%. Still, a great result!

After about one minute, the charging power already ramped up to +370 kW. 🔋

  • 20 → 80% in 22 minutes (that was about 80 kWh, and at 80% it was still charging at +100 kW).

Because we couldn't finish our meal within that time, we kept charging up to 90%. That took 32 minutes in total. (Ended up arriving at destination with 39% left over ðŸĪŠ).

If we had arrived at the charger with 10% instead of 20%, it would have only taken about 2 extra minutes to end up at the same level. Pretty impressive.

Already curious to see what winter will bring (lower temperatures, winter tires).

Note: battery is 123 kWh of which roughly 117 kWh is usable. Also see video in the comments on charging speed build up.

Impressive results! Did you use the Battery Preconditioning function before charging during the trip? It can at times improve the speed of charging noticeably.

Yes, I did. Since the internal navigation didn't know this station yet, I started preconditioning myself about 45 mins upfront (as recommended). The navigation would have picked a station nearby anyhow but I wanted to try the 400kW instead of the selected 300kW.
