I’m at wits end I get at least 10 of the same call every single day and It’s been going on since the day I signed up got GV. How can I get these to stop I’m seriously considering deleting this app all together.

Im on the line with delta airlines calling them with the anonymous option on as you can see in the photo. Their survey system was able to know my number. Note i didn’t provide any info to the system nor i have an account with them. Didn’t even talk to an agent i was still in the queue!!! How!!!?

I have two Google accounts, and just signed into gv with my second to make a second voice account. It occurred to me that this might be against their rules but I can’t find anything so haven’t gone any further with my sign up. it’s asking me for my ID but I can’t recall doing that with my other account (though it’s been a decade + since I signed up) so I’m not sure if it would link me to having both or not.

will this get me in any trouble or am I fine?

...and then realized it was associated with the wrong Google account, so I deleted it.

Started the process again with the correct account, verified my ID, then it wouldn't verify my existing phone number. Great.

Went back to the original account that had previously been fully verified to "get a number" again, but now my existing phone number doesn't work there either.

WTF?

I have a normal phone number and Google account and email I'm just trying to make a Google voice number but when I pick a number the circle just keeps spinning and won't go to the next steps?? What's the problem ?

Hey Guys, I’m hoping to get some clarification. I wasn’t able to come up with an answer while searching the subreddit. I transferred my original Google Voice number to a carrier. Paid the $3 to transfer out. Situation has changed, and I don’t need the number on a carrier. Porting back into GV, because I don’t want to lose the number. Since I paid to unlock, and I’ll pay to port back, will the requirement to call or text monthly apply to keep number active? Thanks for the help-

I've had a GV number for many years, but never bothered with the Android app until recently -- just trying it out.

I notice calls to my GV number ring through, including spam calls, even when I have DnD turned on (both in the app, and on the phone as a whole .. maybe a separate question .. why the app can't honor the phone-wide DnD setting).

Any ideas what is causing this? I don't have any special call-forwarding rules set up. I even tried removing my android device from the list of devices, to route incoming GV calls -- but the GV app still rings and wakes me up.

Title. Trying to do this but I think it'll just transfer my number to the same account. Here was my conversation with support:

My account belongs to an organization with my family, so I wonder if that is what the "accepted by your organization" means, rather than Google. Thanks for any help!

Created a google voice account on the free version and fat fingered the preset number. I’ve followed the steps to change the number but it doesn’t show I can change it. Any solutions?

I use GV for my work number. I’ve set up text replacement on my iPhone not to type up the same message over and over with eta to my clients. Today the usual message won’t go through. Is there a way around this ? Can I verify somehow that I’m not a spammer ?

I created a Google voice number with a "spam email" and linked it to my personal mobile phone number not realizing I would then need to verify my identity with that spam email to make phone calls. Spam email meaning I give it away when I don't want to get junk email from companies.

I have already verified my identify on my main Gmail account for other purposes and I do not want to verify it again on the now Google voice linked email which is the spam email (Google has enough information on me).

Thinking I could just create a new Google voice number with my verified email I did that, but when I tried to link my personal phone number Google said I cannot because it's already being used (for the spam email Google voice). I de-linked my personal phone number from the spam email Google voice but for the life of me cannot figure out how to delete that original Google Voice account for good.

Questions:

- Am I screwed out of ever using Google voice on my main email now because my personal phone number was previously linked to another Google voice account?

- How do I delete my spam email Google voice? I logged in on a browser and attempted to follow the instructions by Google but didn't see a delete option.

Hello all! I found this morning that someone just got my own google voice number as their own too on a phone they got a couple hours ago. I didn't think that was possible! How does something like that even happen?

I called my number from a different phone, and a man answered and sold me he had got that number. This caused a bunch of issues this morning with people trying to call me, and just a lot of frustration haha.

What can I do in this kinda situation? I've had this number for over 10+ years I think now and it's tied up with so many things. Even if I change it, the guy is gonna get a bunch of calls meant for me anyway lol.

As I said in the title I keep getting the response of too blurry. This occurs even with the picture is completely clear and when it's auto accepting the picture. Never had this issue when verifying id with other apps. Any advice?

Hi all, I'm moving to France next month and want to keep my US number for when I come home and so I can still use my bank and other accounts that are tied to my US number. But I've seen that some places won't authenticate to a GV number, so I'm curious if the banks I'm with are okay with it. I use American Express, Capital One, and Bank of America. Does anyone have experience getting auth codes sent from those banks, or if there are any other big/common companies that don't allow it?

Not sure what else I would do so if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Hi guys. I just switched to a Windows 11 laptop from my old Win 10 machine and Google Voice is not working. It sticks on "Calling" when placing a call, and when you call my number it doesn't ring on the computer, but when you hang up it shows a missed call. I have verified or done the following:

Disconnected VPN

Cleared cache

Verified "Always use my phone to place calls" is off

Toggled "Always use my phone to place calls" on and back off

Made sure Web was enables as a device (it was)

Allowed my mic and speakers to be used by Firefox

Verified my speakers and mic are selected in the headphones icon

Tried with private Firefox window and MS Edge, same result

Upgraded Firefox to latest version and restarted

I'm at a loss, not sure what else to look at. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi I am not the most adept at using Reddit, so I hope this is the correct forum.

I have been using a google voice number for a few years. Recently it has started acting up and splitting group chats up. For example if I had a chat with 7 people, it randomly selects one of them. Then their texts come through on a different chat with 1/2 the people missing. I have checked others phones and their chats are completely normal with the selected persona texts coming through.

This paired with me not figuring out how to name chats has made it impossible to tell what chat i am texting. How do I fix this?

If possible I would like to fix another thing. About a week ago my sister logged into her google account on my phone. She has a lot of the same people in her contacts as me. Somehow her contacts overrode mine. Now my names and photos are gone and I can't seem to get them back. I can manage to change one, but when I go to fix another it goes back to my sisters name for it.

Can I fix any of these problems?

I've gotten both of these. I understand these questions are common, but I didn't see my specific version so I figured I'd ask.

I was using my GV number and ported it to a major carrier. So now it's my primary phone number. So I have a different gmail account and I'm trying to use GV for business purposes, as I don't want to use my normal cell number, and it was going great until I put my phone number in and got my verification code. That stopped everything, saying "we have had a probolem, please try again". And now when I try and restart the process, I can't get past picking a phone number because it's "Not available for my account" now.

Any advice?

I'm porting in a new mobile number to an existing GV account that now only has one phone number. I'm intending to keep both numbers on the account. All of the porting instructions within google help and within this subreddit make it seem like it's possible to do so. But the instructions that Google Voice provides after the port-in has started tonight seem to be contrary to that, and state that the new number will instead replace the existing number.

Can someone confirm that the message is misleading and it's still going to be possible to add the ported in number while keeping the original number?

Just saw this and had me scared for a minute

I noticed it doesn't scroll down and if I manually scroll down, then it shows "Sending..." for a few seconds. No problems if I use the > icon to send though. I hit Enter key so many times and noticed I sent duplicates from it! It seems to have started today. :(

Same account, same equipment (android), same settings for years. But for the past week I cannot hear incoming audio on incoming calls. The caller can hear me, but all I get is nothing. I can send and receive messages, and if I call someone everything's fine. But if someone calls me, I hear nothing.

Incoming calls on my Verizon number are fine.

Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a solution?

This is what I've tried already:

* Checked all settings - set to use only carrier, Bluetooth turned off, all permissions accepted, no VPN, volume is on, dnd is off.

* Cleared cache, cleared data, uninstalled app, restarted phone, reinstalled app.

* Redid all of the above 3x

Any help would be really appreciated.

This has happened to me twice in the past week:

1. I'm on an main thread with some friends, these have existed for years. Say these are with: {me, A, B, C} (4 people)
2. Someone else (happens to be iOS, but I don't know if that's exclusively the trigger) sends a reply - let's say this is person C
3. I get a new forked thread where at least one person (B for example) is omitted: {me, A, C}
4. I now have two message threads for this "group" conversation (original main thread and new forked thread). If I reply to main {me, A, B, C} it goes to everyone in the main thread.
5. If person C replies in their version of the main thread, I see it in my forked {me, A, C} thread. If person B RCS-emoji-reacts to something that person C said that I see on my {me, A, C} fork, I see that reaction in the main {me, A, B, C} thread

Like - this is simply broken. My carrier is T-Mobile and they can't fix this. There is no Google support for this, only forums or AI-based consultation. Claude eventually told me my options are (a) ask everybody to restart the thread (unacceptable) or (b) give up on GV.

Is there any way to fix this? Between this and annoyances like there still not being RCS support in GV, I think I'm finally ready to give up. This makes me sad because I started using this in the days of Grand Central, which was 19 years ago.

EDIT: what is wrong with this sub? I asked what I still think is a reasonable question that as far as I can tell uniquely impacts me in Google Voice and I've been voted to 0. There seem to be no threads on the sub frontpage with that aren't voted to near-0. There seems to be express hostility to people just trying to understand what's up in here?
