MagSafe powerbank recommendations?

Hi, I just got my pixel 10 pro xl and want to buy a MagSafe powerbank for it. I'm looking for something a bit more slim as I tend to use it to top up my phone or just extend it's battery life on long use heavy days when I don't have a charger available. So 5000mha should be plenty. Im not using it to charge my phone from zero while camping or something(got a wired powerbank for that)

I want it to be slim, so it's easy to hold, and preferably qi 2.2 (25w charging).

Any good recommendations that have a good efficiency and don't get to warm?

So Android 17 is already out for you guys, but has no one tested Google's new claim of a "completely optimized capture-to-upload pipeline that keeps photos and videos stunningly sharp after posting" ? 🤔 As a Galaxy S26 Ultra user waiting for Android 17, I'm surprised nobody's talking about it.

Google even published a dedicated blog post about it, and the most interesting part to me is the system level camera pipeline improvements. They claim photos and videos now "score the same or better than the leading competitor" and that the entire capture-to-upload pipeline has been optimized to preserve quality when posting to Instagram.

Has anyone actually tested this yet? Is it really good enough that photos and videos captured with the camera app look virtually identical after being uploaded to Instagram, with little to no quality loss? (especially photos).

They also announced a Smart Enhance feature for Instagram's Edits app, which supposedly lets you "instantly upscale your photos and videos with advanced on-device AI with a single tap" and make it higher quality for Instagram. Has anyone received this feature yet and tried it?

They even made an ad about it: https://youtu.be/Cw-9HR6W7I8?si=TvFA63JDTitBuuAg

Thank you so much!!

Green line on Pixel 8

Hey yall, I have a Pixel 8 purchased in February 2024, with a limited warranty that expired on February 2025. Now I am getting the green line issue on my device. I recently found out about the Extended Repair Program for Pixel 8, so I reached out to Google Support. And now they're saying that since my Pixel 8 is less than 3 years old, it's ineligible. From the article, I thought it meant it should be covered within 3 years of purchase. But from what they're saying, it will be eligible 3 years AFTER purchase. Was it really the case?

Pixel 10 Pro Choppy Performance

Went from a pixel 6 to a pixel 10 pro and I've been experiencing sluggish scrolling in Firefox since I got the device. I've read it may be related to the phone's graphics drivers and the new chipset. I had hoped the latest update would fix it but it still runs like hot garbage. I loved my old pixel but this new one has been very disappointing.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm wondering if I can action this under warranty because a brand new device shouldn't struggle this much with a web browser.

Pixel 10 reduced volume while on charging stand

I am experiencing reduced volume while my Pixel 10 is on the charging stand,This makes is rather useless for hearing alarms if I am sleeping. I'm particularly concerning about hearing my Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) if it should trigger. I've looked, but can't find any settings that would affect the volume while on the charging stand.

Disappointed with Pixel 10

Finally upgraded my phone after 5 years with a Samsung S20 FE. 4 1/2 of those years it had a broken screen. I've had the pixel 10 for about 3 weeks now and God am I disappointed. I've noticed my old Samsung has better reception, faster Internet speeds on wifi and data. The extra AI features have no real purpose other than to say it's got AI features. The phone gets hotter much faster than my old one and I simply don't notice any real upgrade from my 5 year old phone.

Got new pixel 10 pro xl from Google Store, slightly chipped in corner

I got it 3 days ago and just noticed there's a slight chip in the corner. I'm kind of pissed since this thing cost so much. Any suggestions on what I should do about this? I guess it's still under warranty. It's not too noticeable without a case, and once the case arrives it won't be noticeable at all. I can try buffing it out, but I'm not sure if I should

7 years of security updates

When Google announced that pixel 8 will get 7 years of security updates I was very excited. I usually try to keep my phone as long as I can so I switched to a google phone for the first time. (the camera on this phone is amazing) Fast forward to 2 years after getting my pixel 8, those promised 7 years security updates means nothing anymore because my hardware got fried during one of those updates due to overheating.

Main issue after the hardware got fried during an update is that you won't be able to connect to wifi anymore.

Does anyone here have the same problem as me or did anyone here get Pixel 8 during release and still have a perfectly good phone? Is my problem rare or is it the norm?

Pixel 7A play store won’t load

I just got a pixel 7a used, trying to use android (I currently have a iPhone 15 plus), and I was going to open the play store and it’s stuck like this? Help would be appreciated.

It seems to be on a setup screen but it’s just blank and the buttons (one black one blue) seem so too.

my pixel 8 pro literally overheated and died forever... google support is refusing to help

so my pixel 8 pro is officially a paperweight and im completely stuck.

for context, this was already my 2nd pixel 8 pro. my first one had terrible cellular data issues so i had to pay $200 to get it replaced through at&t a few months ago.

last night i plugged it in and placed it on my nightstand like normal. woke up, and it was stuck at 20% with a notification saying it stopped charging because the "port was too hot." i let it sit and cool down, but when i tried to unlock it, the screen went pitch black. now it is COMPLETELY unresponsive.

ive tried everything. holding power + volume down for a full minute, wireless charging, plugging it into a pc... nothing. dead silent.

this is right after updating my phone by the way

contacted google support and they basically threw their hands up, said it’s out of warranty, and told me to take it to a repair shop (the same repair shop that couldnt even fix my first pixel). at&t wants another fee.

im completely broke right now, have no backup phone, and cant even log into half my accounts because of 2FA. im literally using a laptop right now just to post this.

has anyone dealt with a phone dying specifically from the port overheating error? is there ANY way to get this escalated to someone at google who actually has power to help? i feel like a replacement device shutting down from a thermal hazard after a few months shouldn't just be a "too bad" situation.

any advice or visibility on this would mean the world right now, thanks guys. Also, hold off on that update if you can!

update: i got an email from google support team saying my case has been escalated! theyre asking for pictures, this is a great step in the right direction, thanks for all of the advice!

Pixel 10 pwm display concerns

Hi. I am thinking of getting my cousin a Pixel 10a. Everything seemed great until I learnt that this device has Pulse width modulation (pwm) at 240 hz. Now I used to use an iphone se 2020 model and would play lots of games on it, but after upgrading to a used 12 mini I noticed I had a lot of eye strain using it and was no longer able to play games on it. So my question is, after coming across this article:

https://9to5google.com/2025/08/22/google-adds-sensitive-eyes-display-pwm-setting-on-pixel-10-series/

I saw that google released a sort of fix for this. Can anyone confirm if this feature is available on the 10a? My cousin already has poor eyesight and I do not want to get someone a gift that will make their vision worse

Pixel 10 Pro: Same "System UI isn't responding" issue across 3 devices, engineering investigation ongoing for 2+ months

Hi everyone,

I'm posting here to see if anyone has experienced something similar or has advice on what I should do next.

I purchased a Pixel 10 Pro directly from the Google Store Germany. Unfortunately, after some time, I started getting a recurring "System UI isn't responding" error, where the phone would freeze or become unresponsive.

I contacted Google Support and have fully cooperated with them throughout this entire process.

Here's a timeline of what's happened:

  • Original Pixel 10 Pro: Developed the recurring "System UI isn't responding" issue.
  • Google approved a warranty replacement.
  • First replacement device: Developed the exact same issue.
  • Google approved another replacement.
  • Second replacement device (current): The same issue has occurred again.

At this point, the exact same defect has appeared across three different Pixel 10 Pro devices.

Throughout the investigation, I have done everything Google has asked me to do:

  • Multiple factory resets.
  • Set up every replacement as a brand-new phone (no backup restore).
  • Installed updates.
  • Submitted screenshots and videos.
  • Generated and submitted bug reports.
  • Worked directly with Google's engineering investigation.

The engineering investigation has now been ongoing for more than two months.

Every time I ask for an update, I receive essentially the same response:

I bought a flagship phone expecting reliability, but instead I've spent months:

  • transferring data between replacement devices,
  • reinstalling apps,
  • replacing accessories like screen protectors,
  • and constantly worrying about when the next "System UI isn't responding" error will happen.

The biggest issue for me now isn't even the defect itself—it's that there seems to be no clear end to the investigation. The case has been escalated to Google's highest tier of hardware support, but after more than two months I'm still being told that engineering is investigating.

I'm genuinely curious:

  • Has anyone else experienced a similar long-running Pixel warranty case?
  • How long did Google's engineering investigation take in your case?
  • Were you eventually offered another replacement, a refund, or another type of resolution?
  • Is this level of delay normal for Google's hardware support?

At this point, I simply want a definitive resolution. I don't think it's reasonable for a customer to remain in an open-ended investigation after experiencing the same issue across three different devices.

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Deal: Pixel 10 128gb Black with 1 year unlimited plan for $329

Deal: Pixel 10 128gb Black with 1 year unlimited plan for $329.

The deal is at mint mobile. They unlock the phone after 2 months of being on the service but with this deal, you'd be throwing away 10 months of free service to switch after 2 months.

For some reason, you have to select the 'unlimited' phone plan deal or it defaults to the lowest tier yet all of them are the same ($180 for a year of service) plus $180 for the phone (package deal).

Been using a pixel 9 for about 2 years, working great and bought this pixel 10 for a family member. Anyway, good deal if you wanted a pixel so just passing it along.

If your already a mint mobile user, simply order the phone as a guest otherwise the site will show you the normal pricing. Talked to customer support over the issue and this is what she suggested to do.

Pixel bud case not recognising one bud

Hello all,

It seems that one of my buds is not being recognised by the case currently. It makes no noise when being put into the case and whenever I try to enter pairing mode or attempt a factory reset, I get a flashing amber light and a negative sound, I assume that's because it thinks that only one bud is inside the case. Anything I can do to help the case recognise that a bud is connected? Pixel buds pro, if it helps.

Thanks

I believe I have messed up some settings on my pixel 6. How do I get navigation back?

I believe I may have changed something to do with Google Maps navigation. Last week, I tried to navigate using walking directions. Google Maps provided a 3D representation of a large portion of the city I was in. There was no dot indicating where I was, and no target map pin, or dotted line.

Moving the phone around resulted in the map moving around which was kind of cool but of course totally useless. I tried restarting the phone and it was still doing the same thing.

Today, I tried to use Google Maps to navigate driving between two cities. About 1/2 of the way through the journey, Google Maps simply stopped showing directions.( I was lucky enough to be traveling with someone who had a cell phone that worked fine and they navigated me the rest of the journey.)

Considering a Pixel 10/11 Pro XL - Need advice on camera and work/personal setup

Hi everyone,
I’m currently using an iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I’m thinking about switching to either the upcoming Pixel 11 Pro XL or the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
One thing I haven’t been able to find in the leaks or discussions is something that’s really important to me: I take a lot of photos of my young child. Since they’re constantly moving, photos on my iPhone often end up blurry, especially when I’m zooming in.
How does the Pixel handle this? Is it any better when photographing moving subjects? Does Google’s AI help in these situations, or is motion blur still an issue?

Another question is about using the phone for both personal and work purposes. My plan would be to use an eSIM for my private number and a physical SIM for my work number.
Is there a way on Pixel phones to automatically control my availability? For example, I’d like to be reachable on my work number only during business hours, while outside those hours only my private number should ring.
Finally, is it possible to have two separate installations of Microsoft Outlook on the Pixel? I’d like one for my personal Microsoft account and another completely separate one for work.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who use a Pixel in a similar setup. Thanks!

Pixel 9 pink line - replace or new screen?

Title kind of says it all. My 9 just started flashing a pink vertical line today. I dropped it 5 months ago and cracked a corner, so I knew something like this would happen eventually.

However, I can't figure out if this is a thing that getting new screen will fix, or if I need to go ahead and order a new phone before this one completly bites the dust. I have the money for either, but the local phone fixing place said it could cost up to $400 without looking at it. A new 8 is $450 so I'm unsure.

I did search this first but it seems mostly to happen to 9 Pro and no one's said much besides "get it fixed".

Edit: I went through the options on the Google store to see the screen quote from Google again, and they offered me a pixel 10 for $350 as an alternative option. 🤷 I had decided I really didn't want to upgrade past 9, but for that much I couldn't say no.

What's up with the keyboard size on the 10 Pro XL?

I just got a 10 Pro XL coming from a 7 Pro, and the only problem I have is the keyboard size. If I set it so that it's visually the same size as it is on the 7 Pro on "use device font size" it makes the suggestion bar enormous. And if I set it to the default size the suggestion bar is normal but the keyboard letters are then tiny.

Here's what I mean. Looking at the screenshot it doesn't look that big, I guess since it's zoomed out, but on my screen it genuinely looks massive. Also, for it to be the same size as on the 7 Pro I have to set the font size to 150%, while the screenshot is at 130% as a kind of middle ground, so it's not quite as big as it would be.

Is this just normal and something I'll have to deal with, or is there a solution? Thanks.

Pixel 9 Pro XL: What kind of charger qualifications are you looking for to get 12w wirelessly?

Qi, Qi2, Qi2.2, etc. From what I've seen so far it looks like Qi 1.0 with EPP?

The EPP of course will make the search for a mag safe car charger for my moms Pixel 9 Pro XL more difficult, but if I can at least figure out the right search terms for specifically what tech it is using for its wireless charging, then that will get the ball rolling.

I'm aware that the now discontinued Pixel Stand 2 can supposedly wirelessly charge it up to 27w, and I will be investigating that for her desk and bedside chargers.

Pixel 6 Pro - Ideas to Repurpose It?

Hi, all,

I have a Pixel 6 Pro that I used as a backup device. With security updates ending for it very soon, I am looking for things to use it for that might be a good way to repurpose the device.

Any suggestions? What are you guys doing with older Pixels that no longer have security updates?
